Comforting Windrose

Salamandastron: Crater

• -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

You are on the very top of the mountain of Salamandastron: a large, bowl-

shaped crater. The crater is not smooth, quite the contrary in fact.

Numerous boulders and large chunks of rock are strewn around randomly,

making the crater top just as craggy as any of the mountainside. The

crater provides an outstanding view of the surrounding country. The sea

sprawls off to the west as far as the eye can see, and north and south

along the endlessly rolling sand dunes. In the distant east, a tinge of

green is just visible from this height, marking the vegetation in the

foothills of the Western Mountains.

Flint enters the passage that leads down to the Third Level of Salamandastron.

Windrose sits on a rock quietly with her knees to her chest, while a lot of others get ready for the welcome, she is up here alone.

Flint comes up behind her and speaks "Windrose..you ok?" He asks with some concern in his voice. He has a new uniform, finally a new one and it makes him look more Long Patrol like, his longbow and quiver is put away for now.

Windrose shakes her head without turning to him, "I'm...still a bit shaken up after..Flare" She frowns, she just has an everyday outfit on, doesn’t look like she wants to be anywhere later.

Flint goes to wrap his arms around her, if she allows, and sighs, "its ok, you taking a couple days off, it...seems you are."

Windrose sighs "He pushed me out of the way, It..It should of been me."

Flint frowns, "Don't say that...please. Flare saved your life and I am glad he did. " He offers her a smile, to try and cheer her and help her feel better, "You know one thing that kept me from going insane those 3 seasons with the toads?" He waits on a reply.

Windrose wipes away a tear, "Wot is that?" She asks quietly.

Flint smiles "You did lass...and me niece, thinking of that instead of where I was..."

Windrose manages a small smile, a faint one but then sighs and leans against the other hare. It’s clear she is still shaken up from a couple days ago."I am...still jumpy, can’t sleep." One of knowing just how close one came to death things.

Flint nods and hums a little song, it's been a long while since he has ever sung but he slowly finds his voice again.

Windrose listens to the song, calming a little as she closes her eyes, just focusing on she is safe and home.

" There...is...life...After the pain The joy will still be here There is life For it's out of the darkness That we learn to see And out of the silence That songs come to be...." The song is quiet, soft and at times a little sad as he sings the verses.

Windrose sighs, she ends up falling asleep in his arms after a little while.

Flint looks down at her and just keeps his arms around her in a protective matter and looks ready to fall asleep himself, hey he has had a busy last couple days. A short nap won’t hurt after all.
