Chat In The Cell Turns Into Some Plans
IN the cell at Nightfur’s Base..Zork and Bandit talk over some plans
Zork is fiddling with the chains on his wrist, and sighs, he stands and goes to examine where one chain is still in the wall and one isn't.
Bandit is...resting. He is tried curling up into a ball in the corner of the room but it turns out to be hard to do when one is already in the shape of a ball. The pudgy brown fox's ears twitch at the sound of movement. He squints in the darkness, "Is...is that you Zork?"
Zork stops when he hears Bandit's voice and shakes his head as if he is maybe mishearing the voice, he sighs and growls as he pulls on the chain using both paws, it moves slightly and he ends up letting go and falling onto his bottom and closes his eyes and opens them again and looks at his paws, they have some blisters on them from varies times pulling the chain or when he swinged the chain to wrap around Nightfur's neck, even if didn’t last too long he knows he did cause the fox some pain.
The brown fox tilts his head to the side, squinting harder in the darkness. He can barely make out a large slightly less blackish blur among all the other blurs here. "Zork?" Bandit coughs, "Zork!" he says again in a combination shout and whisper.
Zork turns now and looks towards Bandit, "Bandit?..Wait why ya ere' fer.."He narrows his eyes some "Ya better not be worki' fer em'"
Bandit rolls his eyes in the dark. They actually kind of glow green in this low light, "Sorry, been there done that. It's what got me canned in the slammer in Ferrevale, remember?" The fox jokes...realizing this really isn’t the time for it, "I got into a fight with Nightfur out by the bridge."
Zork gets closer or least tries and growls as the chain prevents it, "So..Nightfur got ya too huh, wot ya doin' fightin; Nightfur fer, or did he ambush ya?"
Bandit's cackle echoes down the cell block, "Oh you how it goes, you try and ambush one person and he ambushes you back. I guess you could call it mutual ambushing." Bandit leans back, resting his head against his paws and the wall, "I figured the best way to catch one of those slaver patrols would be to wait for them in their 'huntin' area. I was goin to interrogate them but...turns out I ran into Nightfur first."
Zork shakes his head, "Ya shoulda stayed put in de abbey, not been out ere' gots enough trouble." He frowns seemly worried on something but it's hard to tell what for sure.
"Yer one to talk!" The fox laughs in a way that is anything but joyous. He makes a Zork impersonation as he talks, "Mr. 'I have to be the manly Badger and kill off a whole army of slavers because we badgers are all imperious to get the snot beat out of us.'" The fox finishes with a mock roar.
Zork growls and goes to lunge at the fox, only to be stopped by the chain still on one arm, he glares at Bandit, "Now ya watch it Bandit. Had me reasons fer goin' and didn’t plan on gettin' caught neither, that fox messed with me family and friends and needs dealed with. my plan was ta find him and end im'..Didn’t know end up like this ok..
The fox curls himself into a ball as the badger comes at him. Trapped in here with no escape and with his back to the wall the fat vulpine probably would make easy prey for Zork. But, the badger can't move far can he. After realizing this Bandit's fear turns into anger. The badger is finely forced to listen and after the month Bandit has had, he has a lot to say, "What? What were you planning to do Zork? Tear me apart like some vermin slaver? After all I did to...you...you...IDIOT! The only reason I came out there to find you in the first place was because your dad or uncle or whatever he is was worried you stormed off alone to fight Nightfur. The only reason I came out after you was because I was so guilt ridden for letting you get carted off like that I just HAD to come rescue you. And that's how you thank me? You...dolt! Stupid! BADGER!" The fox yells.
Zork glares, "Do NOT call me stupid Bandit and I haf no uncle or father, they died long time ago.." He shakes his head, "And I didn’t plan on. Just knocking ya down, been, been..." He sighs and stays where he is looking slightly defeated, "I..sorry." He says quietly.
The fox isn't going to let him off so easy though, "You should be! Do you know how many people you have worried back home? Oz for one, Zinnia for another. What were you thinking charging off like that! All your friends and family are going frantic trying to get these beasts back and then you go and pull a stunt like that? You don't just charge out alone...and...and try to fight...a slaver hoard...by...your self...." Bandit gradually grows quieter as he goes on. It is hear that he realizes that he is a hypocrite for doing the exact same thing...Elena must be so worried...With a deep sigh bandit slumps down and begins banging the back of his head against the wall. "Ah...well...poo on a stick...I'm an idiot."
Zork is listening, he really is, "I..I lets me rage gets the best of me..de fox had hurt Ozzy and he were de one that had Zinnia before, I..Don’t know, ok..maybe should of listened, cloudy mind or wot ever, don’t even remember de fight ..barely remember seein' ya before I were...before got ere'”
The fox turns his head away from the badger, "It's...alright. It happens to me too sometimes..." The fox is about to apologize for his shameful conduct then something the badger says makes him pause, "What do you mean by that last statement?"
Zork frowns "Ya were..thar when Nightfur had de blade at me throat..ya were blurry but ya voice...ya tried ta help me." He sighs as he goes over to the wall and sits down close to some hay.
Bandit nods, "Key word being try. I was...pretty useless to be honest. Just like the last two times someone has been kidnapped right bleeding in front of me." Bandit sighs, "It's time to face it...I've gone soft."
Zork frowns "Who else?" He is curious and then grows serious "Bandit I..I haf ta know something...please."
The fat bellied fox shrugs, he doesn't answer the first question. In fact if they are still alive he is bound to run across them eventually. "What do you need to know?"
Zork goes to pull something from the hay, a staff as he twirls in in one paw, "Nightfur.. one of his vermin he threw this inta the cell, he didn't state 'ow he got it..I be hopin' he just dropped it in de encounter with Nightfur...and he isn’t..Is he?"
Bandit raises an eyebrow. Why is the badger showing him a stick? The fox's eyes widen as he realizes what it is. "Heh, Oz's been looking for that." Bandit nods, "Oz is alive and well, Zork."
Zork smiles at this and looks glad, "Thank the seasons...I..I were so worried." He sighs "Either way Nightfur needs ta pay..a slave escaped but think Nightfur killed im, I don’t know"
The fox holds up his paw for silence, his ears twitch as they listen for sounds down the hallway. You never know who could be listening, "Well if he DID ESCAPE he DID not come our way. Probably dead in the woods and buzzard meat by now." The fox hopes Zork gets the message...as poorly, poorly constructed as it is.
Zork listens and nods quietly, "Well..That’s news then" He doesn’t add anything and sighs, he looks at the chains "I am..tryin ta get these loose, gots one loose, had it around Nightfur's neck for a little while, wish could of kept it thar"
The fox nods in agreement. "Would have been nice." The fox rubs his chin as he speaks, "What have you all done to escape?"
Zork sighs "Not much to do, de walls are thick and de floor stone, bars probably strong, Powell got lucky"
Bandit grins as looks around the place. IT does seem pretty bleak, un escapable. "You know, the most ironic part is, I actually am probably safer here than anywhere else..."
Zork asks, "Safer? How do ya think that? That Nightfur came real close ta killing me couple days ago"
Bandit chuckles, "I saw that. I was there remember? I ran into some bounty hunters after me about an hour in searching for you." The fox cackles, "It's just...funny. I have so many beasts after me the only place safe from them is a darkened slaver cell!" The fox's laughter echoes down the hallways.
Zork frowns, he then sighs “Another good thing, but not much ..I managed ta get a small bit of herbs and bandages from de infirm at de abbey, they can help, had ta use some on Dorarose though"
The fox becomes concerned now. "Why? What's wrong with Dora?"
Zork says, "Nightfur tried ta slit me throat when he got back from chasseing Powell..Dorarose jumped im' and he slammed a sword hilt into the side of her head, she was knocked out and has a concussion, I know some of healing and got the bleeding to stop and swelling has gone down a little but she may have a little memory lost, and That’s not good at all lad"
The fox thinks about this. "After I was a pirate...I became a mercenary for some rebel group in my homeland. I thought they were good beasts because they were fighting bad beasts...turns out they were just as bad in the end." Bandit continues after a deep breath, "I helped them steal something important to my homeland...then tried to steal it for myself. I back stabbed the beasts who helped me to do it..." Bandit chuckles. "I suppose I have done some good things for Redwall...I helped beat Leftear. I defended the walls...I...kept you all to a diet by eating all the pie for myself." Bandit grins at the last part. It would be funnier if it wasn't mostly true.
Zork shakes his head, "Ya need a diet...Nightfur has caught a lot of beasts but a lot, some unsure of, are helpin ta find and beat Nightfur"
The glowing green eyes squint closed as the fox smiles, "Yep, it looks like the only way I can stick to a diet is to be captured by slavers." The eyes widen again as bandit says seriously, "Any plans on how to escape?"
Zork says, "First get the chains off me, been workin' on that slowly"
Bandit nods in the darkness, "And then?"
Zork says, "I am unsure..wait for good time ta..attack nightfur"
The glowing eyes in the darkness raise an eyebrow, "They say madness is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps its try a plan B this time."
Zork hmms "Ya got an idea fer a plan B?"
The badger may not be able to see it but Bandit is giving him a toothy smile, "You wood lander types are good warriors, but you are not fighters. You need to start thinking less like a badger, and more like a crafty vermin pirate mate. That staff you have of Oz’s. Break it into small chunks. You can hide them pretty easy. in a place like this, not for long mind ye, but long enough. Also you lot still have shirts. Start picking up any loose rocks you can find,, fill a tunic with them, tie it up, and you have a flail. Don't wait for Nightfur this time, he is too well guarded. Wait until a guard comes by, get him close to the doors, take him down." The fox shrugs, "Well, we can burn that bridge when we cross it. Right now let us just arm ourselves.
Zork frowns at the mention of breaking the staff “Ya know wot sort of lecture I would get!" He frowns some "Stones..not be any stones in here really"
The eyes narrow in the darkness. "Really? You are more afraid of a blind badger's lecture than watch us all die or be sold into slavery?" Bandit shakes his head, rubbing his fore head, "The rocks may be out but you would still be surprised at what you could turn into a weapon..." Another question springs to mind in bandit's head, "Zork,. When do they feed us? I havn't eaten all day."
Zork frowns as he holds the staff, he thinks hard as he look at it and sighs," Ya...be right...mmmmmmm...ya can explain de staff and thar is.." He sighs and lays the staff down and notes the chains, "Help me get these off, it’s a weapon too and thar is some bits of stone from ware de wall cracked some" It’s clear not muck, 4-5 small bits. He sighs again but is thinking and grins a little as he looks at Bandit.
Bandit chuckles, "Ok, just so long as you don't try to 'knock me over' again." He quickly adds, "I kid I kid." Picking himself up the fox walks across the cell block, past sleeping or terrified beasts. He can only imagine what having a fox in here after being kept by one for so long would be like for them. The fox in question moves slowly. Ample padding does little to keep bruises and cuts from hurting. "Ok Zork, now what do I do?"
Zork looks at the stone bits, "Maybe..slam one into the chains near me wrist, see one chain be lose from de wall, need de other one loose too"
The fox narrows his eyes again at the badger. There is a fat joke in there somewhere, he is sure of it. There always. Bleedin. Is. Finely Bandit just shakes his head. He would rather not hurl his already battered body into a sold stone wall tonight so he tries pulling on it instead. Gripping the chains near the wall firmly Bandit tries to pull on them. He grunts with foxy effort.
Zork grips the chain too, he takes a few deep breaths as it's already lose and he does have some strength back, he stands and pulls as well, this does make the blisters open but he keeps pulling and it moves some from the wall as they both pull more, he growls and tugs even harder making a small noise happen with the wall.
The fox has to break away from pulling the chain after a long moment. He falls backward onto his tail and rolls a kink out of his shoulder, "Please tell me that worked..."
Zork growls as the chain is very loose now he just has to tug harder and pants as he stops almost falling himself
The glowing eyes get up and move towards the wall. Bandit feels along the wall and grins evilly. Taking off his vest he lays it on the floor next to the wall, then starts digging into the wall with his bare paws, scrapping anything loose onto the floor.
Zork watches him closely and grins, he is loosening the chains more, he goes to pull at the same time and falls backwards onto a pile of hay and groans, a little dazed and shakes his head, he looks up and grins, the wall has a large crack and the chains are free, also a guard starts to come in and Zork growls and goes to swing the chain around, the guard remembering what happen eeps loudly and slams the door shut as the chain slams into the door, Zork snorts and drops to his knees and takes a few deep breaths to calm himself.
Bandit rolls his eyes and shakes his head, "Next time mate, let him come into the cell so we can grab him and the key..." The fox sighs, "Oi! It's going to take a lot of work turning you warrior badger beasts into vermin..."
Zork glares at Bandit, "Turn inta vermin?..Bandit I haf fought, many many times..Vladmir were one, Marek were another....up North before all that in a war.." He looks "Chain....stone and.." He frowns and sighs, "Go ahead..use da staff"
Bandit pats the badger on the shoulder, "Remember. Things can be replaced. Life can not." Bandit takes the staff and heads down to his corner, it’s a bit of a mercy having the fox break it for the badger. "Sorry Oz..." The fox breaks the staff over his knee. SNAP. Then again. SNAP. Finely he steps on it and pulls up on it. SNAP. "Ok, we have four weapons to stab with. I'll pass them out to who needs them. Keep them hidden. Once we start killing guards Nightfur isn't going to tolerate us for much longer. So it will be either freedom..." Bandit comes back and hands a part of Oz’s staff, the top part to Zork, "Or death."
Zork tenses up each time the staff breaks and frowns, ok the lecture won’t be that bad he then takes the now weapon and nods and looks at the other 3 pieces and nods again "Yeah, also de vermin may have me weapon still..if can find it."
Bandit chuckles, "Well, now we have our own too. Nightfur is going to regret the day he tried to make us slaves." The fox tosses his piece of wood in the air and catches it.
Zork nods "Yes...I say Dorarose gets one piece, she is a fighter, not sure who else but me and you..." What he has yet to see is Marek, yep what reaction will that led too...
