RW Abbey: Entry ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The raging fireball in the great bowl of the sky as well as the constant, sweltering heat that refuses stubbornly to ease even during the odd hours of the night herald the arrival of summer. The abbey looks somewhat dry from the sweltering heat that builds during the summer, dust swirling just lightly over the well-trod and dry paths. During the day, blinding golden lights washes over this humble clearing. In retaliation, the massive building, coated in a faded crimson soars towards the skies, its huge size offering valuable shade. Flowers are in full bloom, brilliantly colored petals revealing to the Abbeybeasts in a loud, flamboyant fashion their sheer joy for living as well as their animated spirits. Luscious greens sweep the area in a subtler beauty, enhancing the vibrancy of the flora. Soft grasses cushion your footpaws, and from time to time a gentle breeze will caress through to shift the blades of grass and the small layer of dust. Vaticus shouts, "On a peaceful night, as the sun is falling, the ground beneath you begins to tremble slightly. After a few quick moments, the shaking begins to increase to a much more violent blow. Branches fall, and things begin to crumble... The sounds of destruction can be heard in the distance all throughout the lands of Mossflower. Then... there is quiet...."
-------------------------------------------------------------------- The raging fireball in the great bowl of the sky reflects harshly off of the slimy thin water, beneath one's paws. The sweltering heat that refuses stubbornly to ease even during the odd hours of the night, adds tirelessly to the disaster area that now fills the surrounds. The crumbled walls that once towered to the south side of the abbey, now flow as a messy pile of stone and mortar, into the murk all about. The abbey looks somewhat sad, in its less than grandiose state. The stone bell tower, once rising into the sky, now lies in a heap, appearing to have lost out in this battle against Mother Nature. In retaliation, the massive building, coated in a faded crimson soars continues towards the skies, its huge size offering a reprieve from the terrible losses that otherwise define the scene.Flowers try to survive the seeping waters of the overflowed pond. What isn't under deluge, responds instead to the crushing blows of the rock the once filled the abbey walls. The smell and sign of death sweep the grounds into an eerie still. Soft mud cushion your footpaws, and from time to time a gentle breeze will caress through to shaken the still that grips the fallen stone. Bellatrix shakes her head. She looks around sadly at the damaged area
Sandtail exclaims, "This is unbelievable!"
Alijandro stands in awe as a word barely escapes her breath, "Wow."
"My boys!" The squirrel Naeva shouts in terror. "Have any of you seen them?"
Sandtail looks down to Musa. "Where are you hurt?
Bellatrix tries to calm Naeva. "What are their names?
Naeva shudders as a sob wracks her body. She leans momentarily on Bellatrix's shoulder. "Jared and Jalen...Jubal, where are you?"
Musa points to several areas all over her body, now swelling and purply-blue from bruises. A few scrapes are evident on her limbs, bleeding lightly, and she cries as she clutches at them and them rubs in vain at the missing patches of fur
Sandtail says, "Now, now, don't be doin' that. Press this strip of cloth against your wounds, that should stop the blood flow. Rubbin' will only make it worse."
Musa clutches the cloth and presses it to the bleeding, appearing remarkable intelligent for one of her few seasons. She continues to cry, staring about at the ruined entry
Dumble finds herself dragged along by Starlight, and mechanically obeys, moving her legs without thinking
Malice has arived
Sandtail looks over to Malice. "Who are you, lizardbreath?"
Starlight looks the child over. "Are you alright? It's not safe in there anymore! Please, stay here, I need to help the others."
Akayshia looks around quietly.
Musa nods. "Okay," she whispers tearfully. "And dinner...izz zzerved.."
Taking advantage of the mass chaos and destruction, Malice emerges from the gate followed by about six rats all armed. "Ah...zzzo bitter zzweet.."
Bellatrix steps forward and addresses the otter. "Anything I can do to help?"
Vaticus shouts, "Amid the confusion and apparent destruction within the Mossflower region, the shaking once again begins to move the unstable dirt beneath your paws. Definitely not as strong as the main round, this shake still has some kick of its own. Weakened branches and stone fall about you, only adding to the disasterous mess which surrounds all in the region... "
Kalea runs out from the crumbling abbey, tears and terror still very present in her eyes. She holds a broken arm with her healthy paw.. She falls to the ground crying, "Abbey's always been's safe's.. This can't be's.. Mrrrrooowww!" She cries out in pain, "Paw.. Hurt's.."
Sandtail asks, "A lizard and six rats just stepped in, do ya have a weapon?"
"We have to leave," Pax demands, shrilly, seeing the small gathering outside. "We don't have much time. Within a few days, the vermin will start pouring in--" Days? Perhaps Pax isn't estimating right here... "And we don't have any /walls/." She shudders. "To the woods..." And then the second tremor starts, and the girl falls to the ground, holding her paws over her head desperately.
Naeva stumbles into the muddy water at the aftershock. She regains her feet, takes a look at the lizard and rats and runs!
Bellatrix nods and draws a sturdy-looking sword. Here we are
Sandtail grabs a pebble from the ground and starts whirling the sling he always carries on him. He launches a stone at one of the rats.
Sandtail exclaims, "Musa, go inside the abbey and find someone to take care of you! Now run!"
Keyla dashes out of the Great hall and looks around and gasps at the damage. He then begins to ttempt to gather up dibbuns before he notices the rats. He then changes his plans to help the Dibbuns escape safley instead of heard them up. He looks around then shouts. Why did I have to leave my old javelin in the abbey?"
Dumble sits down heavily on the ground and begins to wail loudly.
Bellatrix draws her sword and raises it high. "You ain't messin' with this Abbey, scumbags!" "Bring it."
Malice spits out and pulls out his hand-axes. The guards chitter and look about, smirking evilly as they eye the woodladers. "Dinner..dinner.." They all chime in one by one into a horrendus chorus of gore and moans. One of the stones barely misses the rats. The large monitor picks a beast..Dumble and rushes at her, lowering a axe to slash at her belly. The other rats rush in and go after the woodlanders, slashing all around.
Sandtail launches another stone at the rats. "Come on and fight!
Keyla notices Dumble so he quickly walks over to her and attempts to pick her up while saying. "Come on little one it's not safe here."
Starlight looks at the squirrel intently. "Here, drink this. You need to try to stay awake," says he, and offers a bit of cool water.
Kalea scrambles over beside Dumble. 'Lea usually isn't one to be benevolent.. but right now.. she needs nothing but comfort herself, "There there's.. We's be alright's," Kalea holds her hurt paw.. herself still crying.
Bellatrix bats at the axe with her sword, knocking it away, but not without a scratch on her belly as a result
Sandtail launches two stones in quick rapid fire at the moniter. "Stay away from the mouse!"
Elkleaf barely manages to take a sip, before spitting back out. "..hu...r...ts.." he tries vainly to point at his chest, but fails.
Pax slowly stands again, looking in horror at the vermin. "How in the dark gates...?" She curses. "They're here too soon! It's not /fair/!" As if anything about an earthquake is fair. Stumbling, she backpedals, heading once more to the great hall.
Dumble whimpers, breathing heavily. It's a moment before she manages to speak: "Is we?" she moans pitifully to Kalea.
Starlight looks around. "Can someone look after Elkleaf?! I must return to the others!"
Sandtail fires stones at the intruders as fast as he can.
Akayshia stands still looking around with a bewildered expression on her face.
Keyla looks around the confusion and shouts. "All you dibbuns get over here! Hurry now!" He looks around with a worried look on his face.
Starlight looks around, pleading again, "Can someone look after Elkleaf?! I must return to the others!"
the tiny dibbun tries not to cry, and it shows on his face, but it is futile. Tears begin to run down his face like a flood, and he howls in pain. The bent ribs just add more pain with the pain to him.
"Well's.. Can't promises's anything's.. But maybe if we's just wish this all's away it will go away's," Kalea closes her eyes and tries to block out all of the screams and chaos surrounding her.
Rush departs the Great Hall and then turns around to see how extensive the damage really was. "Funny dat it beasts been trying ta' do dis for da' longest time, and all it took was a little shake of da' earth. Dats irony for ya'," mutters the tod as he departs the abbey.
Starlight tries to calm the dibbun, as the crying will only make his condition worse.
Keyla walks over to Elkleaf making sure he leaves no dibbuns that are currently following him behind. He bends down and looks him over. "Be still now don't cry." The hissing monitor grins as he contineus to charge at the dibbuns and Dumble, axe down towards her as he clumbs around some rubble. Three of the rats slash at Bellatrix as Malice slashes through one abbey beast in his path. "Thizz izz too eazy..." He smirks.
Sandtail fires his last stone, so he grabs a large chunk of wood and charges the enemies.
Starlight looks at Keyla, saying, "Please, take care of him. I will return
Admin shouts, "Nivik has an announcement! Meanwhile, the vermin of the area are flocking to the Black Gull, many wanting to get some news on what the tremors are all about, others coming to spread tales, and some odds and end parties congregating to scheme and plot..."
Shadowtail comes walking out of the great hall looking around wildly. He has almost no earthly clue as to what is going on.
Keyla charges at the monitor lizard in an armost beserker rage. He jumps at him and swings his large tail at him.Tears are going down his face, and his raspy sound is getting worst.
Bellatrix raises her sword and batters of the three vermin, but she stumbles and thus receives a slight cut on her arm
Dumble begins to pick herself up, then notices Malice and jumps to her feet. Seizing Kalea's paw, she gives a yank and starts toddling away as fast as her shaking legs will carry her.
Seemingly forming from the shadows leaping about the crumbling building, flames dancing in his eyes Vulpuz comes forth, his axe held in both paws. He searches about, surveying the death and destruction with a seemingly careless indifference, but in truth hes here for his business... Hellgates must be opened, and those not deserving entrance must be saved... The enormous beast flips a chunk of rubble over, the remains of some poor mole splattered and twitching, the last bits of life floating away. With a heavy sigh the fox beheads the beast, ending his misery. The tod looks up and sees all the vermin flocking over the falling defenses, licking their blades, and thirsting for slaughter and plunder... They're the fuel for the fires of Hellgates, and many shall go on this night...
Keyla looks to Dumble and shouts. "Run for it!" He then continues his swing towards malice's jaw.
The monitor's tail is missed barely and slams towards Keyla's belly. He grins evilly and goes to hack down some more beasts, cleaving one of their heads right off. "All zzzzhall remember the name Malice!!!!" He runs at Bellatrix and launches one axe towards her chest.
Torwin runs in through the gates, having spotted the damage of the walls from where he was when the ground shook. Spotting the vermin the squirrel unshoulders his bow and loads an arrow and draws back the bow, taking aim at one of the rats to help Bellatrix he shoots off an arrow and then looks towards the monitor as keyla shouts. Loading another arrow he takes aim at the large lizzard, easy target, and fires off another arrow
Shadowtail notices the vermin flocking in now. His eyes go wide. He looks about quickly wondering what to do. He then heads around the group trying to get to his secret storage.
Akayshia stands there, frozen with terror.
Dumble pauses for a brief moment as she hears her name, then shakes her head and continues to flee.
Keyla turns and runs almost getting knocked down by Malice's blow but he continues on.
Elkleaf is still crying, and holding hios chest.
Bellatrix reaches into her rucksack for her shield and brings it up...just in time...but her arm is twisted from the tremndous weight of the axe...
Pax begins to throw fallen rubble at the vermin. Not a particularly damaging attack, perhaps, but it's all she can think of, and, luckily, rubble is a weapon in ample supply.
Kalea is swiftly brought back into the realm of reality as Dumble yanks her away from Malice. Her hurt paw dangling does make it hurt even more; but a hurt paw is definitely better than a dead Kalea.
"Mrrrroowwww," Kalea wails, fleeing with Dumble, but still wailing the same. "I wish's I wasn't here's! I wanna be somewhere nice's!"
Oloaf stagers into the entry, head bleeding, leg looking not so good and drops a dibbun. "Find someone to take care of you." he says as he turns to go back into the great hall.
Silverleaf comes hurtling out of great hall toward the main entry having been warned of the threat. She grabs a couple of the strongest and most able guardsmen to accompany her on her way toward the gates. She screeches to a halt staring wide eyed at the gathering vermin and she picks up a fallen sword herself as she hollers loud and clear, her voice ringing over the abbey grounds, "Guards!!!!" From many directions the archers and fighters that have managed to assemble after the confusion start notching arrows to bows and drawing swords. Though they are a pathetic few compared to the vermin they stand against.
Musa sits down and looks about. Everyone always tells her to find somebody else. She begins to whimper
Shadowtail looks to the wall amazed. He only felt the shaking earlier and was woken but still drowzy. He finds a small box near the wall and grabs it and then runs back towards the great hall.
Lilybud dashes outside, nearly stepping right into the middle of the armed battle. She halts, turns abruptly, shaking poor Skylet miserably, and dashes parallel to the Abbey building, away from the monitor lizard.
Keyla runs over to Elkleaf's position and shouts. "All the Dibbuns over here. Try to defend them!"
Shadowtail finds that the doors are kind off cut off by a group of vermin. He dodges away form the deranged beasts and heads off towards the group.
Akayshia gets picked up.
Keyla runs towards the pond with Akayshia in his arms.Arrows fly by one of the rats and hit another, slamming into him and killing him instantly.
Malice continus to hack at beasts as they run by him. "All vermin with me! Take out the guardzzz..." He then turns and sees Silverleaf as she hollers to them. "And you.." The three rats near Belltrix hack at her with short swords, one getting cleaved in half by a guard.
Bellatrix pushes to her feet and strikes at the vermin, attacking her, her sword swings up, ready to connect to one of them....
Pax decides this is a lost battle-- and flees, hurling the rest of the stones at the monitor in a lass ditch attempt. Leave this to those with /real/ weapons! "If anyone wants out of here, follow me!" She screams out, and doesn't look to see if any follow. "I think I know a place that'll be safe." Spotting a wailing dibbun, the mouse hesitates for a moment before weaving to grab it, and continues to run. Babes being attacked? Young lives taken for the enjoyment of the vile evil of this planet...
No emotion comes from Vulpuz other than his attention to his duty. He strides boldly through the rubble, unfearing of all the chaos, looking rather at home with it. His axe flows cooly about him, striking down entering vermin, their blows lost on him. "My wounds will heal, but yours will not evil ones... Come taste my Black Blade and journey to Hellgates..." He stops in the melee and looks about quickly, the damage is immense, and the casualties are too numerous to count... Too many... This was not supposed to happen... He continues on dealing his cold justice, working his way towards Malice the apparent leader of the vermin.
Shadowtail he opens his little box and pulls out something shining. A small sword. He moves forward and gives a quick stab into the back of one of the vermin.. He then slices sideways cutting another in half. He quickly moves away again trying to figure out what the main group needs to do.
Pheonix carries his son through a soupy mix that seems to flow from the pond. In a final swing, one of the three is down, dead on the ground.
Bellatrix stands up straight, raising her shield as a more organized fight forms between her and the remaining attackers....she groans through her teeth...She had not counted on this, coming to Redwall....
Torwin frowns as he sees his arrow missed Malice but the ranger forgets him for a moment and looks towards bellatrix and curses as he has now clear shot at the others. So he moves his aim to another random vermin and letting loose his shaft, a shout of anguish comming to his ears soon after. Looking back to the young mouse, torwin hrms and runs over, drawing out one of his falcatas while still holding his longbow it his left paw and slashes at a vermin trying to attack the mouse maid from behind. "DIE!!" The monitor bellows out, and charges at some guards. One of the otters slices his arm with his sword.
Malice slams at him with a powerful claw, ripping his throat clean out. He then cuts down another guard, taking his head clean off as he gains another wound to his side. "Get in a circle all vermin..take down the guardzz and healerzzz.. Thizz izzz our day to rule Mozzzflower..." He grins.
Five archers manage to assemble behind the abbey healer and start marking shots on any and all attacking vermin. Three more guards appear beside her blades draw. The approaching vermin are charaged upon, Silver hanging back, knowing her services are more helpful elsewhere. The vermin that charge for her are cut down by the three...though one of the guards takes a sharp wound through his gut and falls. The healer realizes it is a losing battle as she looks horrifiedly over the grounds. She raises her voice once more and calls out, "Retreat...all woodlanders retreat!" She turns herself and sets back for the great hall, many of the guards following her, though some remain to try and protect and bring along the other warriors.
Elkleaf cries out. "...he....l...p...."
Shadowtail weaves and ducks then stab and a scream. This is somethings that are going on with the squirrel as he moves about. A few cuts here and there but he is alright. He hears the cry for help and moves over to the other squirrel.
Starlight runs with all his might out of the abbey as some of the overhead stone crashes next to him, and tows his sack behind him speedily, pulling out a variety of herbs. "Keep the attackers off the wounded!"
Hearing the sounds behind her, Bellatrix spins about just in time to see the vermin Torwin has just attacked....she holds up her shield in an attempt to ward off other blows....Then she turns and rushes towards the dibbun squirrel You ask, "You okay, kid?"
Elkleaf shakes his head and points at his chest. "...hu...rt...s"
Bellatrix kneels down in front of him, feeling his chest. "What happened, how'd you get hurt?"
Elkleaf has the following problem:He's covered in bruises that look like scales of a fish and breathes with a raspy sound...as though ribs are not broken but bent
Torwin guts the vermin he was fighting and looks towards the dibbun and runs over to him, "Come on, we gotta get out of here, don't have time to treat him here."
Oloaf stumble sin with kowl. He goes to the crowd and lays him down. He then lays down, exhausted and unable to move.
Oloaf removes Kowl from his group.
Elkleaf points towards the abbey. "...qu..a.k...e."
Shadowtail gets behind Bellatrix and fends off a few vermin as he takes care of the wounded squirrel, "Hurry we got to get out of here!" he shouts behind himself.
Kowl lays on the ground and looks around quickly for Alexandria.
More vermin charge through the gate as the rats following Malice fall down dead from the guards arsenal. At least ten more rise in their place, armed with crossbows and longswords. A ferret spots Silverleaf and charges at her, pulling out a sword. He jumps at the healer, trying to slice her chest.
Malice feels the sting of another guards blade hit his back, slicing it abit but not too badly. He turns and rips out his throat as well, as the arrows raind down. He takes cover by a large peice of fallen debree, loading his pawcrossbows.
Alexandria moves closer to Kowl, "You okay?"
Bellatrix gently picks up Elkleaf. "Okay, fella. We're getting out of here. Hang on. "
Starlight runs over to Elkleaf, mixing something with a burning smell. "Stay still while I apply this!" Says he, and gently rubs the soothing concoction over the small one's bruised chest.
Bellatrix holds the squirrel still while the mixture is applied.
Elkleaf groans "...st....op...."
Kowl smiles as he sees Alexandria is ok and manages to sit up "Yes, and more so knowing you are alright" He states and stays close to her,he frowns at the vermin in the entry.
Torwin nods and puts his boaw across his back and draws his other Falcata. Comming next to shadowtail he says, "Let's clear a path" All is lost now... The woodlanders are retreating from the abbey.
But Vulpuz does not fall back, on the contrary, he continues striding toward Malice, his eyes stone hard and borring into the lizard. All the dogfox leaves behind him now is a wake of death and spilled blood, strewn across the debris of natures fury. "Fuel for the fire, fire punishes the evil that inhabit this world... Come to Hellgates now!"
Bellatrix turns to him. "What is it? What's wrong?
Shadowtail nods as the two move off. He then spots the two laying down alone. He stabs a rat through the head as his shoulder is nicked and then moves over to Kowl and Alexandria.
Starlight says, "It is meant to smooth the pain. Be still."
Elkleaf whimpers "....it...st...op..."
Oloaf digs around in his bag, he gets what he need for setting hsi leg, He sets it and dabs the blood from his head. He gets up, unsheaths his twin axes and begins to help with the vermin onslaught.
Vaticus shouts, "Out of the still comes a third jolt, as the ground again becomes fluidic beneath your paws. As things continue to crumble, the now flooding River Moss continues to surge into the countryside, only suplementing the terrible devastation that continues to grow. This jolt is more powerful than the last, causing more thinks to wall around you."
Kowl looks to the gatehouse and frowns, hoping who ever inside is ok and not hurt.
Starlight pulls out his twin daggers from deep within his belongings, crying out...
Starlight shouts "Redwaaaaaaaaalll!!"
Alexandria hears another crack in her leg, and she small-screams, falling next to Kowl... "At least you're okay..." She feels the third tremor, which isn't helping her leg any. She has already fallen from something, her leg gotten twisted. She watches as yet another large piece of rock comes to land on her already broken leg. She whimpers and tries to move the rock.
Shadowtail falls to the gorund as the earth shakes beneath his paws. He looks about wide eyed then asks the two mice, "You guys alright? Need some help?" he asks.
Oloaf slices and jabs and swings with all his might, killing vermin left and right, but more come still. He fights with fading strength as the number of wound she receivs grow.
Bellatrix turns to the other fighters, grabbing the injured dibbun. "Ready to leave?" she calls.
Bellatrix growls. "Or should we stay and fight? Having heard sounds coming from the entry, the otter, Tide, rushes over, finding chaos in the world around him. Eyes widening slightly, he catches sight of a fox. He quickly sidesteps a falling rat before going into a headlong dash at the fox, clinging to it over the face and scratching and biting at it as hard as he can.
Starlight joins Oloaf in fury, absolutely frenzied at the filthy creatures whom he begrudged.
Alexandria looks at Shadowtail, "My leg's broken... help me get this rock off... I need to help others..." She winces and continues to push on the rock that holds her down.
Kowl says nothing right away and crawls over to Alex, his feet dragging behind him as he goes to protect her, he also goes to try and get the rock off Alexandria
Oloaf falls to his knees. He drops the axes which are now to heavy for him. He pulss out hsi shortsword and trys to fight on.
Eideen ducks in through the dishevled remains of the gates and stares wide-eyed and slack-jawed at the scene playing out before her.. "Oh my gods.." *WHAM* She's snapped out of her daze by a rat nearly running her over.. She moves to the side, slipping in. Her eyes move in so many directions it's not funny.. *WHAM* ONce again she's ran into.. This time.. "TIDE!" She mutters, kneeling and picking the little otter up swiftly, holding him tighter than heck. Her sword is drawn and she begins weaving her way through the masses..
Shadowtail nods and begins to lift from the bottom of the rock. It then begins to roll over and off her leg.
Torwin shakes his head, "No retreat, we need to regroup" he says then starts moving to the retreat point, clearing a path for Bellatrix and the dibbun. The ranger gahs as he recieves a slash in the side but looks to the weasel who did it and cuts him down More woodlanders fall beneath the might of the vermin.
Malice unloads his arsenal, one bolt aimed at a guard the other at Elkleaf's belly. He sees the vixen Eideen and grins and throws his last axe at her legs and then barrels forth towards the Great Hall. "Vermin follow me! Victory izz ourzzz!"
Strongbeak swoops overhead, a piece of sharp masonry gripped in his one good talon and releases over the vermin.
Bellatrix rushes to Elkleaf and sweeps him out of the way just in time. "Leave him alone!" she shouts, and strikes a blow with a sword
Alexandria nods to Shadowtail, "Thanks..." She growls in pain, "Kowl... let me help you out of here..." She tries to stand up, feeling her leg cracking all around and her mind keeping her up, "Take my paw..."
Kowl takes Alexandria's paw "Where..to?" he says..and asks "Are you sure your ok Alex?" He is concerned
Oloaf drops the sword, but manages to stand once again, he pulls out his dagger and cuts down what few vermin he can. His strength drains quickly and he soon falls to his knees again, still fighting.
Bellatrix cries "I don't know but we have to leave the Abbey!"
Starlight uses every skill that he has to attack the vermin, screaming the occasional "Redwaaaalll!" or "Wyrrnhaveeeeennn!!
Alexandria nods, "Just my leg... it's fine..." She moves to pick Kowl up, "I don't know where is safe..."
