Brother Miles

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

NPC Master Healer of Redwall Abbey

Description

This middle-aged mouse is on the rounder side, but not so much that his brownish-green habit is anywhere near snug. An odd knee-length surcoat of undyed linen (save for several plant-colored stains) is worn atop his habit, the multitude of pockets smelling of herbs. Each pocket is tied shut with various colors of thread, some knotted at the ends, some tasseled, some tied more than once. A white habit cord is barely visible around his middle in the space between the draping halves of the hanging surcoat. Perched upon Miles' nose is a pair of silver-rimmed spectacles that hook around his low-set ears, the silver highlighting his stormy blue-grey eyes. Sometimes, though, they're pushed up to his forehead and he's leaning in close to a dusty book, nose touching the pages - unfortunately creating a gleaming silver circle that highlights the graying fur there.

Habits, Traits, Quirks

Peace-Loving: Brother Miles is one of those rock-solid beasts who is always calm, even in a crisis. He can make himself heard if necessary, but he does not get rattled, nor angry. He could get spat upon by vermin and would just shake his head with a sympathetic smile.

Glasses: Miles is getting near-sighted as he gets older. He needs his glasses, but in a pinch he can lean in closer and see just fine. He prefers to keep them on or nearby at all times, and has even broken his never-ending calm to lightly berate a dibbun who stole them.

Herb Collection: Miles' surcoat is full of the herbs most frequently used by healers at the Abbey, and he could find them in the many pockets of his coat blindfolded. The colored ties with various knots and suchlike are more a guide for those who might eventually take on the position after him. He knows exactly where everything is, with more dangerous herbs (those that could poison or kill in the wrong dose) hidden on the inside in breast pockets. At this point, he could probably treat a patient while blind, given a bowl and whatever water or linen he needed.
