Betrayal
Remi is sitting at the table playing cards, as per usual.
Redfang comes done the stairs slowly. He is holding his head as if it's in pain.
Remi glances at the ferret, and seems to recognize him. He motions him over.
Redfang looks confused, but strides over to the table, taking a seat opposite of Remi. "Whaddaya you want?"
Remi looks at his cards, he is in the middle of a game of solitaire. He lowers his voice slightly, but still doesn't look at him, "Yer Redfang, correct?"
Redfang nods, but this worsens his headache, and he stops, "Aye, that's me."
Remi moves a stack of cards over, "So yer here spying on the Redwallers for Bloody, aye?"
Redfang looks surprised, and scratches his chin. Lowering his voice to a whisper, " 'ow do ya know that?"
Pike is at the top of the stairs,he stops and stays where he is,he glaces down the stairs but stays just barely out of thier site or least best he can so he can still see them just enough.
Remi shrugs expressively, "It's quite obvious, mate. One. Why would you come here if there wasen't a feast or anythin'? Two. Ye've been intentionally eavesdropping on every conversation you hear, even if it's just 'bout the weather."
Redfang grumbles, "Alright, fine, ya got me." He pauses, "What're ya gonna do, report me?"
Pike tries his best to hear them and at the same time keep out of site,he listens carefull and stays very still and very quiet.
Remi shakes his head, "No, no, nothin' like that. I was actually going to get ye to take a message to yer boss Bloody for me."
Redfang looks around the Great Hall, suspicious, "Why should I?" He glances behind him, up the stairs, but does not see the otter.
Remi grins as he wins his game, "Because, if you take Redwall, ye get a share o' the riches, and tha faster ye do that, tha more yer boss will like ya, savvy?" He shuffles the deck, looking up at the ferret for the first time. "An' I intend to give yer boss a bit o' help. Fer a price, o' course."
Pike remains still,he has done the remain still thing before and is good at it,he glaces down the stairs and still seems them, just barely and tries his best to hear all the words being said between them.
Redfang nods, his head is hurting a bit less now, "So if I get ta message ta Bloody, we'll take this place faster, which means I get more loot, aye?"
Remi nods back at him, "Aye, that means more loot fer ye, my friend. Now here's what I want you ta tell Bloody. I'm willing to help him fer a small price. I know the Redwallers plans ta get their Abbot back, an' I might be persuaded ta let it slip for a bit of gold. I will also help where I can in the future, of course fer a price."
Redfang nods again, "So I tells 'im that you'll 'elp us for a bit of gold, and that you know the Redwaller's plans?"
Pike takes all this in as he listens to them talk,he frowns but doesnt move to show he is listening,he remains still and where he is.
Remi grins rogueishly, "Aye, precisely that. Also tell him ta arrange a meeting with me. I want to talk to him, share the plans face to face." He does not say when he wants the meeting, though.
Redfang nods, "Alright, i'll tell 'im next time I report, okay?"
Remi lays out the cards again, preparing a new game, "Just make it soon, savvy? We can't delay much."
Pike holds back the urge to show himself,he does a good job and has stayed quiet and still,he listens some more as they talk.
Redfang rises from his seat, nodding quickly, "Yes, yes, i'll tell 'im." He starts to walk up the stairs, but turns around and decides to see what he can find in the kitchen, much to Pike's relief.
Redfang heads off towards the Abbey Kitchen..
Pike frowns and decides to back away quietly before he is seen and heads to the bunk room, only out of hearing range does he breath a sight of relief and stays in the bunk room for a little while.
Remi shakes his head, "I'll be lucky if he gets tha message through."
