Attempted Murder!

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

This happen in the middle of the night in Elder Benar’s room

It is sometime past three am, the abbey is quiet and beyond the guards standing duty on the outer walls the building is quiet. Everyone is in bed like good sensible beasts should be including Elder Benar. His rooms are cozy and dark, the fire in the main room is banked low to keep the room warm overnight. Benar is quite used to being roused from bed at odd hours whenever something odd occurs in the abbey. The door to the Bedroom is closed however and the windows too, the bedroom is in darkness, cold and quiet except for the bundle of warm blankets in the bed as the squirrel sleeps away happily.

Safana has managed to open the door slowly, trying not to make a sound as she does so, she keeps hidden one of those cutting knifes for veggies as it’s about the only thing she could get her paws on and she slips in very quietly, she has her boots off so that would help some, she also leaves the door open so she can leave just as quickly and scans the room, she soon sees where Benar is in the dark and walks slowly over towards his bedside.

Benar stirs in the bed when Safana is about half way across the room, the squirrel turning onto his side slowly, yawning happily and cuddling down under the blankets some more. It has been cold this winter and the Elder had a long day working over at the Ball Tower site. He soon falls still again however.

Safana stops in her movement and holds her breath as her ears go flat, she waits till he seems asleep again and walks over again slowly and stops by his bedside glancing at him for a short while then shakes her head quietly making a mental note why she is here and how she should of done this a couple nights before, she pulls out the knife she has and looks at it and then Benar, him being on his side is an issue it seems and she goes to get to where she can just do this quickly and her elbow hits a mug he has by the bed, she bites her lip so she doesn’t cuss out loud as the mug breaks..Oh wonderful, she grips the dagger getting ready to strike quickly.

Lee is making his late night rounds, to check on everyone's safety.

Benar mffs as the mug shatters on the floor, the delicate pottery spraying out in chips all around Safana's feet. The squirrel rolls onto his back, blinking his eyes open in the dim light and frowning. "Hmmm... Flicktail is that you?" He mumbles, shifting under the blankets in preparation to sit up.

Unfortunately for Safana, Lee is not far away. He hears muffled noises, and he goes to investigate.

Safana frowns, well this is not good and that moment of darn now what and staring at the mug probably gives Benar the seriously needed time to become a little more awake as she growls low and rises the griped knife up and then goes to bring it down towards the squirrel.

Benar is still half asleep, the light is bad but there is one thing the distant firelight from the other room is good for, it catches the glittering length of that blade as it is raised and Benar shouts in alarm and springs out of the bed! Well he tries to spring, he more flumps off the other side in a tangle of blankets as the kitchen knife bites into the soft down of his mattress.

Well, the shout certainly wasn't muffled! Lee rushes to the source of the commotion, and bursts in, dagger drawn. Yes, dagger. Lee figured saving Benar was more important...He rushes into the room with a shout! "Wot be goin' on 'ere?"

Safana ears are back as she pulls her knife out of the bed and hisses low, she starts to make another attempt at the moving covers when she sees Lee is now in the room, she looks between the squirrel and the otter as her tail wags back and forth and anger fills her, "Leave!..Nightfur demands this be done, then I am sure he wouldn't mind if I got you too..wait your turn otter!" She keeps her ears back as she says this, her mind racing yeah how to kill them both is her question of the night.

Benar thankfully has the bed between the crazy knife wielding cat and himself. He grabs one of his pillows and hurls it across the bed at her and scrambles up to his feet. "What the.... Safana what are you doing!" No longer half asleep the squirrel backs away toward the windows overlooking the cloister. This leaves him on the other side of the room to Lee with Safana and the bed between him and the otter, "Stop this at once!"

Lee keeps his eyes on the cat and her weapon, but he also keeps himself between her and the door. "My, my, Safana, wot took ye so long? Did ye think I were a fool, hmm? I've known the truth for weeks... Just waitin' for ye ta make yer move..." He narrows his eyes. "Now lissen, an' ye lissen well. There be no escapin' for ye. I'll raise the alarm, an' ye know full well the gates are barred tight, so yer only option is ta surrender, NOW!"

Safana ears flat and she goes to rush at the otter when the pillow hits her in the back of the head , she glares at Benar as she is still angry, “Shut up..what am I doing, fine I will tell you." She holds the knife and gets ready to flick it like a throwing dagger.."Killing you now say goodnight..."

Lee drops his dagger with a clatter, and he takes a headlong tackle into Safana. "I...don't...think...so!!" He would start to wrestle the knife away from her if she hadn't dropped it already.

Benar stares at Safana, reaching out behind him, pawing at the curtains and the window until he finds the catch and kicks the window open. Wind blows in and the squirrel leaps backwards into the cloisters and the darkness to get outside and darts off to the side.

Safana flicks the knife and thanks to Lee it misses, if he had not tackled her when he did her aim would of been perfect and it’s a good chance Benar would not of been able to open the window at all, the knife's aim is off as she is bumped and the knife slams into the floor where Benar was standing and Safana crashes into the bed, she struggles ti get up as the otter weighs her down and has not been able to see if the knife hit or not.

Lee struggles to keep her down as he also begins to yell for assistance. "Help! ANYBEAST! ATTEMPTED MURDER!" He lowers his voice. "Ye played right into me trap, Miss..."

Benar shouts from outside in the Cloister's his voice raised in anger and a bit of fear and soon enough Guards start to appear as well as other abbey beasts.

Safana growls as she tries to raise her paw, claws out and rake them across the otters face or arm or whatever is near. “Stupid otter, you interrupted me!"

Lee yells as he is indeed scratched hard down his arm, but he doesn't let up. "That was me plan!" he says through clenched teeth. He yells again. "ANYBEAST, I NEED ASSISTANCE, NOW!!"

Rorgan rushes into the room, drawn by Lee's calls. Instantly, his sight is drawn to the struggle on the ground, but his observant eyes also catch a knife sitting in the floor by a window. His mind instantly makes a decision and he sprints for the knife since he hadn't had time to grab his daggers from the gatehouse. "Hold on Lee!!" He bellows as he passes the two.

Benar is standing outside the window, various guards hurrying forward to crowd into the doorway, "You knew she was going to kill me! Lee why didn't you tell me!" He shouts out, motioning for the guards to move into the room as well.

Lee is struggling to keep the cat pinned. "Aye, I knew!" He calls out, "I tried tellin' sev'ral beasts...no beast would lissen or believe me! They all thought she could be trusted, so I gave that up, an' decided ta catch 'er instead!"

Safana growls as more guards come into the room, a couple help Lee hold down the cat, she manages to get her claws across one's face before finally giving up and breathing in and out glaring at all in the room, the guard with the now bleeding face is taken to the infirm. She then starts to chuckle at something, "Like someone will help with injuries..."

Rorgan has grabbed the knife out of the ground by now and is kneeling next to Lee and Safana along with the few guards already there. He places a paw on Lee's shoulder, inquiring, "Lee, are you alright?!"

Benar stays far back, and is in fact drawn further back by others as they realize the Elder was the target and he frowns, "I see... well thank you Lee...."

Safana smirks, "I lied to the stupid mouse..told him she was dead, he believed me..the look on his face, the emotional state...then again if Nightfur has his way then it won’t be a total lie..." She looks at Benar and then Lee. "This doesn’t mean you’ve won..."

Lee nods to Rorgan. "Yes, I be fine." He then stands up, ignoring his bleeding arm, he speaks to the guards. "Right, now I want 'er tied up, an' locked in tha...hmm, per'aps there be a place in the cellar, I dunno. I'm puttin' a round the clock watch on 'er, 24/7. At no time is she ta be out of a guard's sight, is that clear?" The guards all say, "Yes sir." Lee nods and continues. "Right. I will be questionin' 'er in the mornin'." He looks down at the cat. "Safana, yer gonna 'elp me find me daughter..." Finally, he looks at Rorgan. "Thank ye for yer help, mate!"

Safana looks at Lee and simply says "No I am not helping you at all"

Lee frowns. "I'm afraid ye won't 'ave any say in the matter, me dear. Ye will talk, or ye will regret not talkin', do we 'ave an unnerstandin'?"

Rorgan growls. Not many things make him truly angry, but as close a friend as Lee is to him, he was quite bent on helping find his daughter. He aims a solid punch to Safana's jaw. "You /will/ help him cat," He says before standing with a sigh. "Seems I didn't make it in time though.."

Benar says, "Rorgan no..." Benar calls out, holding out a paw, "We do not torture or harm prisoners...." He flicks his tail from side to side and shakes his head, "Please... secure her as Lee asks."

Safana glares at Rorgan as the otters paw is stopped, she snorts, she says nothing else and stays quiet as she is searched and tied up.

Lee hmms. "Guards, I want ye ta search the entire Abbey, an' find the most secure room possible." The guards say "Yes sir" And fan out to search.

Benar says, "May I suggest a room upstairs, the old office on the third floor near the marriage room."

Rorgan reluctantly lowers his fist, though with very visible difficulty. "She shouldn't be left in here Benar," He says, cautiously watching the cat.

Safana looks at the floor, she has nothing more to say and it’s clear she isn’t sharing info anytime soon.

Lee stares at Safana. "It need not be for long. Tomorrow, I'm givin' 'er an offer she'd best not refuse, because if she does, I'm turnin' 'er over ta Scioto, who 'as no qualms about execution..." It’s a bluff, but he makes it sound so sincere...

Rorgan narrows his eyes. "You don't quite have t' bother Scioto, Lee. Just give her t' me and you'll never see her again..." His voice sounds quite dark, though that's what happens when you try to kill some beast's friend.

Benar shakes his head and looks at Rorgan but refrains from speaking, "well if the excitement is over.... perhaps we can take this someplace else other than my room."

Lee raises a paw. "A wonderful offer, mate, but I'm afraid Scioto 'as questions of 'is own for dear Safana 'ere, no, I be honor bound ta allow 'im the opportunity..."

Safana glares at Lee now, "I will not help you otter, not at all so save your breath"

Lee smiles and orders his guards to escort her out. "I were afraid o' that. Oh well...I know Scioto will be so 'appy ta see ye..."

Rorgan grunts, folding his arms as he watches the guards lead Safana out. "Right, well mayhaps I should leave afore I rob him of that opportunity."

Benar shakes his head and sighs "Well... I best go and talk to the Abbot about all of this. Thank you Lee, Rorgan for helping to save my life."

Rorgan gives another grunt before walking out of the room along with the guards without another word, very obviously angered at the events that had taken place.

Lee picks up his dagger and puts it away. "Out ye go, Safana, dear. I've a message ta deliver ta Scioto tomorrow."

Safana looks at the floor as she is led out of the room
