Assault on Arundal Jail
Rorgan and Vannon flee from the militia led by Tavis. Squirrels played by Lenore
Fueled by the fear of getting caught, and the deadly consiquences of being caught the lizards and young grey furred fox pick up the pace. The down town street is still in chaos as the militia spear users march through through the streets after their quarry. They know not why Tavis singled out these four beasts out of the dozens of frightened beasts around them, but there's is not to question, just do and occasionally stab someone through the gut witha spear
Rorgan continues on right behind the lizards, constantly spurring his small party on to greater speeds as he draws his bow as best he can in the midst of the riot. "Go!" He shouts again, drawing an arrow and nocking it to the bowstring. Suddenly, he stops and turns, drawing the arrow back and launching it towards the lead militia soldier.
The arrow strikes true! Sailing between paniced beasts it strikes the lead spear beast...and promptly bounces off of his plate mail armor. The squirrel marches forward, flanking him are the other twenty or so spear beasts plus their sheild barers...plus a very, very ticked off looking Tavis. The three faithful companions Rorgan has aquirred press on with out him.
Upon seeing the several other beasts, Rorgan's eyes widen, and he draws another arrow, but this time sends it flying straight towards Tavis before he simply turns tail and begins to push his way through the crowd again, sheathing his bow when he gets the chance.
"Take the otter alive! He will stand trial and..." The leader of the company goes silent as the arrow strikes him in a weak spot in his armor, peircing the flesh of his shoulder, bouncing off the collar bone. He falls in shock with an arrow sticking out of his chest. "New...orders...kill them all." He snarles through pain and anger. The militia have come with in reach of striking at Rorgan...
A squirrel militia member appears from nowhere around the corner and rushes up to her fallen commander. Oh, hey, she's a healer with a...oh, crap, she's got her a claymore. Nice. She begins ot try and tend the mouse's wound.
Rorgan simply picks up the pace, narrowly avoiding a spear thrust as he now weaves through the crowd faster than he hopes the militia guards can. By the sound of the tone of voice Tavis had just taken, he figured he had scored a hit, which only spurred him on further.
Tavis attempts to sit up spitting and snarling, "I'm fine! Go help..." His face cringes with pain. Falling backwards and breathing heavily he gasps, "Ok...get the arrow out...please..." The arrow peirced his body but has not peirced the armor of his back. His chest plate will have to be pain stakingly removed before he can get the arrow out. Meanwhile the lead militia beast makes another thrust with his spear towards the otter's back.
The squirrel healer person goes to begin to carefully but quickly take the armour off the injured mouse leader. Another squirrel, huge and hulking, toting a ginormous claymore that matches the healer's sword, starts to lumber off in pursuit of the fleeing otters and things. He speeds up and draws his blade, barreling through the crowd like a jaggernaut.
Rorgan cries out in pain as the spear nails him directly in the lower back, though to the right of his spine. His armor does indeed block most of the force, but the tip penetrates straight through the sturdy leather, piercing him through the side. He falters at the wound, but his right paw reaches back to grab the shaft of the spear in his iron grip.
While the squirrel goes to work on the fallen mouse leader, the Militia Lancer does what he his trained to do. He janks the spear away and levels it at his intended target, gearing up for another thrust. With the otter slowed down enough for his fellow comrads to catch up and begin surrounding the beast he snarls. "Surrender or die." Blunt, and too the point. At least no one can accuse the militia of beating around the bush.
The healer is now working on removing the arrow....which is going to hurt. Like, a lot. Meanwhile, her big hulking friend has decided that the otter is cornered and starts chasing after the lizards and fox, thinking (probably incorrectly) that he can hold them all by his lonesome...
Rorgan looks around at the militia beasts surrounding him, and he narrows his eyes with seething anger. Most of this anger honestly comes from knowing that he is trapped and that he can't get away. Sighing, he drops to his knees, holding his paws up. "I surrender.." He mutters darkly, feverently hoping that the lizards and Vannon can get away.
"Oh I hope we get away." Vannon pants for breath while hiding in the alley way, watching as the militia surround the otter and demand that he disarm himself and fall to the ground so they can bind them. The fox looks to the two lizards. One is completely bare chested, the other wears a squirrel leather made vest. Both are clothed in loin cloths and have red scales with yellow underbellies. "Ok, here is the plan. We run like heck, find some clothes line and steal us some garb, then head out of town...sound good?"
The lizard with the vest tilts his head to the side and replies, "Huska maro vandel?" among other hisses in an odd dialect. The fox sighs, "Great just my luck...Just follow. Follow ok and..." He turns in time to see the large squirrel coming for them down the street. "Down the alley...down the alley!"
The huge squirrel passes by the alleyway that the fox and the lizards are in, does a double take, and starts sprinting after them, roaring and swinging his humongous claymore. Meanwhile, the healer has finished bandaging up her leaders wound and asks, "Do you want to put your armor back on?"
It really only takes several moments for the otter to unsheath both daggers and his bow and place them on the ground along with pulling off his quiver and laying them on the ground as well before he finally lays down on the ground himself, belly first, quietly cursing to himself.
The mouse leader groans in reply. Clutching at his bandaged shoulder Tavis stits up. His angry look deepens as he watches Rorgan bound and dragged back over to him. He struggles to get up, using his hand and a half sword as a crutch until he is on his feet. "Put him on his knees." Cluting the massive blade in his left paw Tavis gets an almost deranged look to his eyes. "I've done toying around with you otter. You cost us a base here, you ruin my mission, attack my beasts, let the blasted sherrif go..." Tavis smiles for the first time in a long time. "No more escapes for you..."
Meanwhile the fox in the alley eeps, ducking under the swing of the claymore. The lizards equally panic and scatter, leaving the fox to deal with this brute of a militia member. "So that's what that feels like..." The fox ducks under another swing and tries to kick his opponant in the back.
The healer raises an eyebrow, but doesn't interfere. The hulking squirrel yelps in a very undignified manner as he gets kicked inthe back, then her roars and goes to try and sit on the fox.
Rorgan gulps, but his eyes show no hint of the fear burning inside him. "If you kill me, you'll have my brother t' deal with, an' you won't like dealin' with him once he finds out you've killed his brother." He tightens his jaw, staring defiantly back at the mouse.
The mouse cracks a smile. It is truly a vile thing, a twisted horror showing off Tavis's own rage and buring hatred for the beast before him. "I'm looking forward to it. I'll be sure to let him know how you deid personally...while wearing your hide as a cape..." He lifts his blade to cut down the otter. His head snaps around instead when he hears the loud, "STOP!" A gold furred cat has finely arrived on the scene, flailing his arms about and shouting, "STOP! Stop this madness now!" Thaddius Sharpclaw is stopped by the guards around Tavis but continues to yell, "Tavis you mad beast! What are you doing! We need him to testify!"
In the back alley Vannon yelps as he is sat on. Then grabbing the squirrel by the tail he sings his teeth into his opponents bushy tail.
The huge squirrel screams like a little girl as his precious tail gets bit, jumps up, goes to grab the fox by the scruff of his neck and his own faxy tail, and run back ot the healer, who is watching everything wide-eyed and silent. She admires the cat's bravery, and is tempted to help him get through the herd of guards.
Tavis glares death and murder at the cat. "He. SHOT. Me." Thaddius gulps but continues to reply, "Let's just all...take a breather alright? No reason to get crazy. And with out Byron here we need all the witnesses we can get to put Edwin away." The mouse growls. He is honestly considering just leveling the entire town at this point than continue this ridiculous farce of a trial. Finely the mouse takes a deep breath, "Fine." Then in the same motion goes to knee Rorgan in the gut. Vannon cringes at the sight as he is carried, flailing his arms towards the Militia.
The huge squirrel halts before the healer and whimpers, "'E bit me." The healer gives him a sympathetic look. "You'd best drop him; he might have some weird disease. And I'd probably clean the wound back at camp." The male squirrel eeps and drops the fox, then lumbers back off to camp, his tail bleeding in multiple spots. The healer sighs and shakes her head, then follows him.
Rorgan cannot keep the gasp of surprise from leaving him at the knee impacting his stomach. "Gah!" He doubles over, his face registering only half of the pain, so that outwardly it seemed as though he had only taken a punch to the shoulder, but he was trying his best to appear as tough as possible in front of Tavis.
Thad's eyes widen from the shock of seeing a beast assaulted. The mouse sheaths his blade, handing it off to one of the guards. He then kicks Rorgan once, then twice. With his wounded paw he bends down to pick Rorgan back up and raises his paw to back hand the otter. He holds it there for a long time until finely letting the beast fall to the ground. He turns taking back his sword and strapping it to his belt the mouse sees the angry, confused, and shocked look of the lawyer, "Don't worry...if I rough him up too much I'll just send him to his parents. One of them is a healer."
"Have you gone MAD! You can't assault some beast in broad daylight out on a street like this!" Thaddius hisses loudly as the militia officers continue to hold him back. As much as he gets angry Tavis keeps a calm, almost annoyed look on his snout, He replies, "Actually...I can. As of now the town of Arundal is under the protection of the Militia. I signed the treaty with the Honorable Judge Root this morning. We are here to keep the peace until the trial of Edwin is completed." He snaps to his guards, "Take this...thing... back to the cell and throw away the key. The fox too." Ignoring further protests Tavis walks back to the inn as his guards take care of their prisoners.
He has a smile on his face, ever so faintly but it is there. That was almost therapeutic...
