Armour for a Brother....aka (The Quest)

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Jo blinks open his eyes, though he grins and laughs a little through his nose realizing his head is resting on otto.

The otter purposly cuddles his head more onto otto and closes his eyes again

Otto waekes slowley and the world is blured. He polishes his specks and relizes he's in the library. He also relizes that Jo a full grown otter is cuddeling him like a dibbun. He feels a strange mixture of amusement and some second thing.

Jo breathes slowly through his nose as he dozes slightly, though beginning to fall asleep fully because of otto being warm and all

Otto cocks an eyebrow, He looks over to a bookshelf, were a mousemade is watching in confuision. Otto sayes quickley, "Uh...good morning?" The mousemaid leaves the library with a still confused look. Otto taps Jo on the head and sayes, "Rise and shine sleeping beauty."

Jo blinks open his eyes and yawns widely, " 'ello brother, morning."

Otto yawns and replies, "So much for bunkrooms eh?"

Jo nods slightly, "Ahh well." he grins sheepishly and blinks both eyes

Otto scratches his head and stands. He stretches saying, "What's on the agenda for today then lil brother?"

Jo straightens up and brushes down his fur a little bit, "Im not sure, though we still 'ave packing to do." He drops to the floor on all fours and arches his back digging his claws a littel into the floor

Otto nods and looks at the map still on the table. He folds it up and puts it into his sack saying,"Aye. And I think it would be prudent of us to practive abit o sward fighting, just in case."

Jo walks over to otto on all fours still and sits on his haunches, "I think so too, ye' never know what maybe out there or, well ye' know...down there."

Otto glances sideways at Jo and dares to ask, "Er Jo? Why are you walking like that?"

Jo grins a little, and shrugs. "I have figured out a new way of travel, well if one must hurry."

Otto shrugs and chuckles saying, "Whatever works for you. So what do ya need to pack?"

Jo stands back on his two legs and smiles, "ye' think ye' could help me out? I only 'ave this habit for clothin'."

Otto nods and puts his finger to his chin in thought. "Well," he began, "I think we shoulld get you a traveling tunic. And perhaps a chainmell shirt to ware under it."

Jo nods and thinks for a second before speaking, "When do we start then?"

Otto replies, "Well considering that so called army is groing in mass, I say we should start asap." He turned to the door and sayed, "Come let's get you some traveling clothes and armor."

Jo starts to follow otto (to wherever the heck that maybe :D XD deleat this in the edit the stuff in the symbols)

RW Abbey: Gatehouse

A small but well set up room set into the walls of the abbey near the gates. It has a single small window and a sturdy door with iron hinges. One your left the far wall has been almost completely taken up by shelving that holds well cared for old scrolls and manuscripts; the shelves leaving just enough space for a framed painting of Redwall. The wall that the door is set in but on the left hand side is sat a large locker where weapons are stored and then, beside it, is a very small desk that is covered in wood shavings. On the rear wall, below a ladder leading to the loft, is another locker, but it is smaller than the first and more of a cabinet. The only other wall houses a small fireplace and by it sits a pot with a ladle in it, and in front of the hearth is a handmade wooden rocking chair. The only other furnishings in the room are a small table and two chairs.

Jo walks in, looking about for his sword.

Otto enters and looks at the types of weaponry and armor. He spy a short sword about the right sise for a mouse and picks it up, admirimg it.

Jo spies a sheathed weapon along the side of a writing desk, and grabs for it, "Thank ye' pedat for taking care of it." He runs a paw along the blue pommel stone

Otto glances over and sayes, "Nice blade." He then puts the shortsword in it's sheath and straps it to his tunic belt. He looks at the few bit of armor about. There are many differnt types of different size. Chain mell, plated, and lether.

Jo lays it down on a table surface and looks about for armour

Otto finds a sturdy, mouse sized leather chest plate. He alsoe manages to find a matching pair of wrist gaurds and boots.

Otto straps on the chest plate and wrist gaurds. He also puts the boots on stuffing his pants legs into them. He looked at himself in the mirror. What he saw rather shocked him. No longer was he a humble farmer, butnow a warrior on a queast. "Otto youve come along way from the farm."

Jo pulls out a set of plated shoulder armour, and a light helm. Along with leather leggings and steel surfaced leather greaves, then he starts to dig for something for the protection of the chest

Otto sits and whatches Jo's rummaging. He then continues too look around for some more weapons, and finds a beautiful bow. Next to it is a pack full of finly crafted arrows. He slings these over his shoulder, and lloks back to Jo saying, "Hows it coming?"

Jo sets each piece of armour in a line on the table surface, "Jus' need somethin' for the chest."

Otto walks over and admires the selection. He looks around and sayes, "Ah how about that?" The mouse is pointing to a well polished steel chest plate, a bit small ,but large enough for a young beast.

Jo takes the plate from where it hangs, and he blows on it. Layers of dust coming off revealing a small blue gem in the center, "No way." He starts rubbing it down with a cloth taking the dust off more and more revealing elegant floral designs all over the piece

Otto walks over and looks over Jo's shoulder at the plate. "No way what?"

Jo continues to wipe away the dust and points at the sword on the table, "My father made this, along with that sword and the shield that rests in a drawer in the Great Hall."

The mouse nods as he begins to comprehend. He sayes, "Ah so it would seem youre father left all sorts of things here for you."

Jo asks, "My only confusion is where did he forge them?"

Otto shrugs and replies, "Well I couldn't tell you. But judging by the desighns perhaps Camp Willow? Or maybe even Salamandastron if he ever whent that far."

Jo sets the chest plate down on the table and picks up the sword and takes it out of the scabbard, running a paw down the length of the blade

Jo sets the chest plate down on the table and picks up the sword and takes it out of the scabbard, running a paw down the length of the blade, "Salamandastron."

Otto nods in agreement, "Aye they are great craftsbeats there. No doubt such a find pease came from that are." He lookd at the blue gem and continued, "That's uncommon though. Is it an otter simble?"

Jo nods his head a little but still uncertain, "Possibly. Auri actually did refer to a blue clear sapphire stone as Water, Gift of ocean and river. So perhaps."

Otto strokes his whiskers and nods, He grins and sayes, "Well looks like a stroke of luck finding it eh?"

Jo shrugs a little, "Perhaps, though ......" He trails off trying to remember a very old tattered sketch he saw, "The high rulains armour......" He mutters before shaking his head and getting back to reality

Otto hears Jo mutter something but doesn't quite catch it. He pats the otter on the back saying, "Allright, lets suit you up mate."

Jo says, "I need a tunic first."

Otto nods and begins to rummage through an old clothes trunk.

Otto after rummaging finds a red tunic of slim fit and whith. He also finds a wool battle skirt, and leather belt. Holding them up he says, "Try these on for size."

Jo takes the tunic and slips it on, "well it seems to fit." He takes the offered battle skirt and wraps it about himself, and quickly puts the belt around his waist and tightens it.

Otto looks at the otter and says smiling, "There. Now you look like your average traveler." He stroked his chin and continued, "It's missing something though." He then began to rummage through the trunk again, tossing items of clothing about. "Ahah!" he exclaimed, "How about this?" In his paw he held a beautiful navy blue traveling cloak.

Jo accepts the cloak and drifts it across his shoulders, securing the ends together with a moon shaped brooch, "Ah! heh heh."

Otto grined widley and said, "There. Now those vermin will know not to mess with this otter!" He chuckled and said, "Or this chubby mouse."

Jo pats otto on the stomach, "ye' not that chubby." He says with a grin, "An' one can only wonder if they won'."

Otto grinned up at Jo and said, "Of course they won't. You’re a strapping young otter with, shining armor, and a shield and sword to boot."

Jo grins and nods, "Now for the rest of it." He looks towards the armour with a look of determination, "We will find that hiding place."

Otto nods and pulls out his map. He sayes, "Hmm where do you think we should head for? We need to cut across paths to confuse any would be spies."

Jo shrugs and attempts to slip on the chest plate but gets head and arm mixed up and his head is poking through the arm side of the armour, "Would ye' help me with this brother?"

Otto looks up and chuckles. He sayes while tugging, "I hope ..this..doesn't..happen often." *POP!* The chest plate was now free, and Otto was on the ground, chuckleing. Apperently the momentum must have knocked him down.

Jo shakes himself and sighs, "Ok perhaps a little slower." He kneels down to ottos height and well kneels?

Otto stands holding the plate and turns it around saying, "Ah here." He loosens two leather straps on either side of the torso, making the plate openings wider.

Jo kneels under the plate and slips right into it, "Hey there ye' go!" He grins about himself and notices the straps for the first time, "well those would have been nice to see."

Otto then tightens the straps until they are a comfortable fit around Jo's frame. "There we are." He chuckled to Jo, "I feel like a squire dressing a warrior."

Jo shakes his head and leans back against the table, "We are always equal brother, no more no less." He picks up a shoulder plate and slides it in place, strapping the leather around his chest and back, tthen he does the same with the other

Otto nods and picks up his map looking at it again. He scratches his head and asks, "Where is Kotir anywho? I can't seem to find it on this map."

Jo leans over otto's shoulder and taps redwall, "It sunk." He flatly says, "Though the ruins underground should remain, but its the matter of auri showing up."

Otto nods, "Ah yes I remeber now. We need to find that willow."

Jo walks over to the table and picks up the helm and places it firmly on his head, "Ye' think one day another sapphire could be added to this helm?" He runs a paw over the top and feels a bump, "Nevermind."

Otto chuckles and puts roles up his map. He then puts the pack, arows, and bow over his shoulder and asked, "So where is the lil one anyway?"

"I am not sure, she kinda just disappears mostly." Jo grins a little bit and picks up the sheated sword and buckles it across his back

Jo shrugs and looks in the mirror at himself and he frowns, his eyes creasing with sadness, "Well it seems to fit...." He manages to say, "I-I look like my father."

Otto nods and looks at the mirror and sayes, "I sappose you do." After a few moments of silence he asks, "What was he like? If you don't mind my asking?"

Jo reaches out and runs a paw across the surface, "He was strong and determined, He would always help everyone around the village and always had time for Mum and I...." He covers his eyes with apaw, "Every grand feast we would have once a week he would play a stringed instrument and sing. At the end of the day he would be tired but would tell me stories of the Abbey, Salamandastron..." He wipes a paw across his nose.

Otto pats Jo on the back and still looking at the mirror replies, "I'm sure he would have been proud."

Jo sniffles a little, still having that little kid part of him in his heart, "I-I think he is, talking to me through Martin, to take this path of a warrior...." He rubs the tears from his eye but they are replaced with fresh ones.

Otto looking up to the otter says, "You are right. Everything we do has a reason and purpose behind it." He remove his specks and quickly wiped away his own tears.

Jo gives otto a hug and grins, "I have ye' brother, till we are seeing martin always." He straightens up, with a look of determination, "I need my shield."

Otto nods and slinging his bow, and pack over his shoulder follows Jo.
