Apologies and heart problems

Location: Great Hall, Abbey Infirmary

Characters: Aikuen, William, Zen, Flicktail, May... NPC: Sister Mary, Henry the Healer

Aikuen is sitting at the table, enjoying an early dinner. Since there is no beast around, he has put his footpaws on the table.

Orph gives Brother Jullian a final nod as the Brother leaves him to return to his duties. The dibbun, with the mouse's words fresh in his mind, makes his way down the stairs hoping that the ver- er that Skuld isn't down there /right now/. The ratling crosses the room and plops down in a chair at the table to think things over.

Zen trods in from the kitchen, looking around. He spots all the beasts in the Great Hall and sighs a little, then tods over to the fire and sits down.

Aikuen hears a beast entering, so he immediately takes his footpaws off the table. Seeing as it was his son, he smiles and winks at him, "Welcome back matey, had fun..." He sees Zen in the distance, but tries to ignore him.

Orph nods a little, "Yeah ... Jullian says I should try an be nice to that cat, Skuld. Says I oughta give everybeast a chance fore not likin' em. ... maybe he's right .... don't know. I got lota friends here an some enmies too. Jullian wanted me t' member that enemies can become friends sometimes."

Zen glances at Aikuen and squints his eyes a little. He didn't remeber much of what happend last night, but he remebers being threatened. He takes threats seriously. He also glances at Orph, thinking a little more. Wait, is he talking about Skuld?

Aikuen points a claw at William, "Well im not going to tell you otherwise...but..." That's all he is going to say. He is Still ignoring Zen completely.

Orph wipes the old picture off the tablet with his sleeve and starts to draw a new picture on it.

Orph looks up and smiles weakly at his 'cousin', "Pictures. Jullian was talkin t me, said I got be nice t th other dibbuns. An he said why an I drew pictures about what he said an I was there when it happened an he wasn't so I know what he was talin' bout. Still don't like that cat, but I'll try be nice if I /have to/."

Aikuen taps his claws on the table, Hoping William wasn't talking about what he thinks he is talking about. He glances between William, and Zen.

Zen listens a little and shakes his head. He shrugs though and blows it off, but he catches Aikuen's glance. He stares at Aikuen, stares. He doesn't just look for once second, he stares...

Orph finishes the picture and pushes it over to Aikuen, "Read that an tell me what it says. I'll tell you if you read it right." He notices Zen staring at his pa. That's odd. "Ya wan some Zen?" he asks.

Aikuen takes the tablet and tries to decipher the picture, he gives a mental sigh of relief as he cant see himself on the drawing. "Lets see... lets start with the top picture..." He points to the picture of the Hedge-maid, "That must be Martha, don't know any other Hedge-maids... But who is this other beast... looks like a squirrel, Is this the beast who helped you with your clay making?" He asks, but continues, "The Squirrel looks very angry, but the maid looks scared... Lets go to the bottom picture... The same two beasts, but they look happy now... What are they standing next too? hmmm... Think it looks like one of those thread spinners... except it laying flat... strange." He hands the tablet back, "So how did i do?"

Zen watches and looks at Aikuen and Orph oddly, then pulls out a bag of candied chestnuts from a pocket that was hidden in his habit. He yawns lazily and hummed to himself, then he glances at Orph, "I.. want some what?"

Orph Nods, "That's Miz Martha an Benar from when I first saw Benar," he points to the first picture, "I didn't like him at all cause he was being bad an scaring Miz Martha. I told him so too. An that," he points to the lower picture, "Is now. Miz Martha /and/ Bener are both my friends. An' Benar's teaching me how to use the potter's wheel and the kiln," he points to each in the picture, "Jullain heard bout how Bener used to be my enemy but that now he's my friend an he said that's why I have to /try/ an be nice to /Skuld/" he is not happy about this, but he is trying. He turns his head at Zen's question, "I thought maybe you wan say somethin cause you was lookin at Pa odd like," he shrugs, "Guess not. How ya doin today Zen?"

Aikuen ohs, and nods a bit. Benar, that's the name of the squirrel. He says, none to happily, "Well best do what Jullain says... " He mutters the next part, "Even though that /Cat/ should..." The rest is unheard, but he smirks.

Zen glares at Aikuen now. He mutters something under his breath, though he does it to intentionaly annoy Aikuen, "Stupid.... mrff... otter... vermin..." He squints his eyes a little. Was he testing his luck? Of course, but that's what dibbuns do, right?

Orph's ears swivel around toward the sound. /Vermin? Does he mean that cat or .... who would he ... if he's talking about me again ... I thought that was over ... stupid mouse .../ various thoughts swim through the rat's mind, "You say somethin', Zen?" he asks mock innocently.

Aikuen's ears pick up the muttering, he makes no movement except clench his paw. He is controlling his breathing, and just keeps his eyes forward.

Zen grins at Aikuen's responce. He had to be steaming now. He turns and smiles at Orph, "Uh... I was just thinking about what it would be likes to have a *coughvermincough* father.. you know? I don't realy have one right now."

May comes down the stairs one at a time by sitting on one and scooting forward until she lands on the one below it. As she lands she cries out happily, "Bump!" May slowly and happily 'bump's her way down the stairs.

"Bump! Bump! Bump! Wheee! Oof." May makes it to the end of the stairs and trips over her own footpaws and falls on her face.

Orph watches the mousebabe come down the stairs. /If she's not careful she could ... yep, she fell./

Aikuen closes his eyes and begins to count. You cant hind your voice with him around. He gets to 5 when he hears the Dibbun. he opens his eyes and looks toward where the sound is coming from, the stairs. But he doesn't see anybeast... He tilts his head.

Zen sighs a little and gives up, getting to his feet. He almost snaps, "I don't like your da' Orphs... he's a vermin.... He saids it himself, he wants to hurt dibbuns... I /saids/ it.." He starts to move towards the kitchen, shooting one last glance back at Aikuen, "He jus' doesn't want to leave the abbey... cause everyone would hurts /him/... Eye for an eye.."

May isn't hurt and doesn't seem to mind at she just fell. She's soon on her footpaws again. Seeing the other beasts she runs towards them as fast as her cubby half season legs can take her. "Hi!" she calls loudly to them.

Flicktail wavies to every possible beast he can wave to

Aikuen shoots Zen a hateful glance, "And a fang for a fang... i know how the law goes... a reason for not killing beasts... without cause..." He hears the 'Hi' but he just ignores it... He doesn't want to be responsible for what he might do next.

Flicktail blinks confused as he sees an ADULT give a DIBBUN a hateful glance, and walks quickly over to Zen

Orph stands up he glares at the mouse, "That may be so, depends how ya mean 'vermin'. You don't like him, that's fine you don't have to! Sometimes I don't like him either. You say Aikuen wants t hurt dibbuns? I hear lots of grown beasts want to, but most of them don't. Pa may say he would, but he wouldn't for reals. I know he wouldn't, I seen beast wot would and did an I know my pa anin't one of them! Iffen yurr wan call my pa virmen, Zen then go ahead don't mean nothing t me. I heard that word too much for it t mean much now ... only use it for that cat cause can't think of any worse words t use instead!"

May doesn't like all this shouting. Seeing the nice fox she runs over to him, should the yelling dibbun do something bad.

Zen stops infront of the kitchen door and smiles at Aikuen, "Hehe, yea... jus... make sure Orphs knows that.... I don' wants him to grow up like you..." He then turns to Orph, almost as if shocked! "Orphs?!? He SCARES you... you mades you so afraids of him you could hardly looks at him. A da's suposed to make you feel safe... not like ye' gonna die! Tha... that cat, she was nice to me! No one liked my song, but she said she did! She... she's a nice beast.... but she gets called the vermins? NO! Only a vermins would want to hurts a dibbun, but a COWARDS would want to scare a dibbun..."

Flicktail spots may lookingscared and the kildly fox apporaches her, with a treat of some meadowcream "ello ere....." he says in a CALM friendly fashion

May tugs on Flicky's tail, "Make dem stops yellin. Makes dem sit inna corners."

Flicktail gently picks up May "oi think ye may be right....pretty gel

Aikuen gets quickly out of his chair, and of course it falls over. He is huffing, and you can tell he is just teased off. He makes toward Zen, but when seeing Flicktail near, he stops and once again does the advice of the sister. He closes his eyes, and begins to count. His chest is beginning to hurt a little.

May dips a paw into the meadow cream as she's picked up. She licks her paw clean and nods at the fox, "Ya, dem naughties. Dem go sit inna corners."

Zen took a step forwards as he saw Aikuen approaching. He didn't even see Flicktail yet, but tehn he saw Aikuen turn and look at him. He smiles, "Hi Flicky! How are you?" He says this as if nothing happend, smilling kindly at his sheild otter.

May pats Flicky's muzzle with a sticky paw, "Nice foxy." She snuggles under his chin. She looks down at Zen, "Yous be nice, ok?"

Flicktail nuzzles May's paw and smiles at her, he LOVES dibbuns "this little dibbun as more sense en all o ye..oi not be a mean beast but" he looks at Zen "ye ave no call ta be correcting adult beasts" he looks at Orph "some round ere would call YE a vermin, and it not be a noice thing to say' and helooks at Aikuen "and there is a point somtimes ye do seem to worry William, now is abby be a place o peace....and you be scarin is pretty Mouse Gel....lets all just ....er...get along

Orph is still angry with Zen, but he's said his piece for now. He watches the mouse, ready to attack should Zen try and start a fight. He would not be the one to start this fight, but if Zen wanted to fight, well he wouldn't back down.

Aikuen gets to ten, and reopens his eyes. He grits his teeth, "I don't give Hellgates about what you think..." He sets the chair back with great force. He sits back down, and places his footpaws back on the table.

May wags a pudgy finger at the others, from the safety of Flicky's arms, "Yous been bads an has to go sits inna corners til yous cans be goods gin."

Zen had a wicked smile on his face. He won, at least in his eyes. "What do ya thinks Orphs thinks when you's all mad?" With that, he sighs softly, closing his eyes as well and smiles at Flicky. "Ok... I.... I behave now..." He pads over to him and smiles happily. "I's keeping the shields you got me in the gate house, so it's all nice and safe."

Flicktail chuckles to May "oi ave this one little one" he pats Aikuen's paw "mebby ye should mate... oi not talkin ta do ya harms ya knows....." he looks to Zen "oi not be show in ya a shield if ye make fights, a Shield otter is supposed ta protect and make friends..." he says in a soft voice trying not to seem hurtful

Orph has had enough of this. If he stays here much longer he'll burst! He walks quickly to the kitchen and out to the kitchen yard.

Flicktail sighs "Zen..it makes me sad at eart to see you and William fighting....oi loves ye both" he tisckles May

Zen nods his head and watches Orph leave, a softening sad face appearing on his. "I.. I's tryn' to protect Orphs... and... he's gonna get hurts if his da' keeps blown' up... Mom... sh... she told me my da' hurt me so.... I don' want Orphs da' to hurt him... If he would hits me, he'd hits Orphs... and Orphs is my friend.."

Aikuen throws the friendly paw away, "Tchaa, I know that... And listen... I've been doing a lot better, then what i would have done 3 seasons ago..." He hears what zen said, and a bit of sadness flows over him, but he doesn't show it.

Flicktail nods to Zen "very noble Zen, but that be some thing ya bring to a adult....Oi knows ya means well... an sometimes it look bad but Oi Trust Aikuen...He be me mate...and you know wot it means fer me ta trusts a beast roight? e wouldn't ury William

May giggles and squeals happily as she wiggles in Flicky's arms to escape the tickling.

Zen nods his head a little slowly and sighs. "Ok... I... I guesses your right.. I... I just... got so angry for some reasons... I..." he glances at Aikuen and heaves yet anotehr sigh, a soft blush on his face. He hated to do it, but he knew it was probably needed to smooth things over. "I's... sorry... i-I saids those bad things.."

Flicktail smiles and hugs Zen "at's a good lad.... Oi be proud of ye

Flicktail offers a col nose to May snuzzling her

Aikuen gets up from the chair, slowly this time. He looks toward Zen and bows, "And im sorry for yelling at you... i need to control my anger... and i am most sorry for almost... attacking you... Please forgive me" He keeps his lowered bow position.

Flicktail smiles "thats me mate, Oi ment wot Oi said Aikuen...oi trust ya with me life and e life oh me dibbuns....oi know yer eart

Zen blushes a little more, seeing Aikuen bow to him. He smiled though and bowed as well, "It's okie... just... takes good cares of Orphs... he... he's... one of my best friends..."

Aikuen gets up from the bowed position and goes to attention, giving the smartest salute he knows. "Aye! Aye! Mister Zen!". His chest hurts allot more now.

Orph walks back in from the kitchens looking tired, his shirt has fresh green, brown and red smuges from the working in the kiln, that fact that he was not being watched like he's supposed to be is push to the back of his mind for now, besides he didn't burn himself this time so it's fine.

Flicktail says, "Did ye ear that William, Zen said ye be is bestest friend" he moves to Aikuen "ave a seat mate, ye doesn't look goods...."

Zen blushes a little more and smiles at Aikuen, seeing that he was a good beast now. Not vermin! He then nods to Orph and smiles, blushing a little more.

Flicktail still snuggles with May

May pats Flicky's nose roughly, the mad beasts aren't mad now. The nice fox made it all better. "Yous good nice foxy maked dem be nice."

Aikuen gets out of attention, and nods to Flicktail, "Aye...think your right..." He sits down and breathes heavily. He face has gone flushed.

Flicktail thats it Mate" putting Aikuen's feet up "deep breaths..noice and even.." like he's heard teh sisters say

Flicktail says, "well Oi ad yer elp..and wot be yer name?" he asks may"

Orph nods at Flicky. He hadn't heard, but now that Flicky's told him he knows it. "Pa ya ok?" he asks looking at the otter.

May hides her face against the fox's shoulder playing shy, "May" is the muffled reply.

Flicktail says, "ahh wot a pretty names"

Aikuen closes his eyes, and shakes his head.

Flicktail gently uses one paw to massage Aikuen's shoulders "Do is William..it kin elp" he shows Orph how

Orph chews his lip as he heads for the stairs, again. "Hope th healers aren't busy this time ... don't think Jullian knows how to heal beasts." he mutters to himself.

May leans over the fox's arm and tries to copy what he's doing.

Flicktail smiles holding her close so her gentle hands can feel the otters fur

Aikuen get comfortable in the chair, but he claps's a paw over his chest. His breathing is still heavy.

Flicktail hands May off to one of teh sisser's and nods to Wiliam, Zen and Aikuen "ye be three o a kind, oi know things will works out but oi must tend another dibbun" he pets May's head "Be good little one

Sister Mary had just been leaving the kitchens when Flicktail passed her her own daughter out of the blue. "Hello, May," she looks around, "Is everything alright in here?"

An old mouse comes down the stairs. He is wearing a brown habit, and wears a belt with many pouches on it. He is mumbling and laughing to himself, "HeeHee Every time The otter seems to get in trouble, im the only healer on duty, Just my luck... just my luck" We walks toward Aikuen.

May says, "Hi, Mama. Dems was bads an the nice foxy maked dem be goods."

Aikuen eyes open wide, he knows that voice all to well. As the old mouse gets near he says, "Hello...Henry..." and frowns. Just what he needed, Henry the Crazed Healer...

Orph shuffles his feet a little, "Sorry, Pa ... he was the only one I could get."

Sister Mary watches the other for a minute, but seeing the healer she decides whatever's going on is being taken care of. "Come on May let's go back up stairs." /and find out why you aren't up there helping Daddy/. Still holding the mousebabe she climbs up the stairs to have a talk with whoever May's Daddy is and put the babe to bed.

Henry smiles warmly at the otter, "Well, Well, Well, If it isn't my favorite customer! And he Knows my name... Well joy and happiness all around, for me at least... Tee Hee! So This little terror told me something be wrong with you... Gonna die early maybe! Tee Hee!"

"He better not," Orph growls quietly, "Yurr supposed t keep him from doin' that, ya know."

Aikuen frowns ever more, that's not what he wanted to hear right now!, he says calmly, "It okay William, He is pretty good..." He mumbles, "Though he is mad as a hat!" He looks to Henry and fake smiles back, "Something be wrong with me ticker... It doesn't sound quite right..."

Henry leans close to the otters chest and listens to the heartbeat. He gets back up and chuckles, "This mad hat say that your heart sounds like a drum on parade! Im guessing this has happened before... and it was probably caused by something today to get your heart rate up eh?" He digs into his pouch and pulls out a flower, and hands it too the otter, "Here munch on this... twill make you feel better!" He laughs on the inside on what's going to happen next.

Aikuen takes the flower and munches on it without question. Which he normally wouldn't do, cept he has a throbbing pain in his chest. And he would do anything to stop it. After a bit of chewing the garlic flavored flower, he stands up quickly, placing a paw on his stomach... and vomits on the table. After that he loses his balance and falls down, but he grabs anything in reach to try to stop him. But the chair wont stop the fall, and just falls on top of him instead. He is laying on the ground with a chair on top of him.

Henry hops from one paw to the other, with complete enjoyment. "Ho Ho, that was absolutely disgusting wasn't it! But i bet you feel better don't yah! Course you do!" He laughs uproariously, "Once you have regained yourself, come up to the infirmary for a full exam! tee-hee" He heads off toward the stairs.

Aikuen slowly gets up, pushing the chair off him. He would be angry at the healer, but he using most of his energy just to stay conscience. He gets up and you can see that he is covered in sick. He balances himself on the chair, then after a bit he walks toward the stairs, following the Healer.

Orph had seen the full exchange between the healer and his father. Henry the Crazy healer is now on his list of enemies.

Abbey Infirmary:

Aikuen is laying on a bed, he seems to be resting now, and the sick cleaned off him. Henry is over by a table mixing a potion. He is singing to himself.

Orph had waved down somebeast to clean the table and after waiting a short time to clam himself, he'd followed his Pa up to the infirm. He was not pleased with how Henry worked. Yes so far the healer had always healed whoever it was that needed him, but how he healed needed work.

Henry pads over to the otter and nudges him, "Wakey wakey! Time to take your medicine like a big otter now!" He places the vial on the table next to the bed.

Aikuen sits up slowly in the bed. He is woozy, and is swaying from side to side. He takes the vial, and gulps it down. He shivers, and places the vial back on the table. He sees William and Smiles. He pats the bed to make him want to sit here. His breathing has returned to normal.

Orph sits down next to Aikuen scowling at the healer. He turns to look at his pa concerned, "You alroight?"

The healer takes the now empty vial and goes back to the table. He chuckles lightly to himself.

Aikuen Smiles and nods, "Im fine... just had a... what he call it... oh... a murmur*... i think" He pats his chest, "Caused by stress, lack of sleep and alcohol, but mostly because of my ... anger..." He takes a deep breath.

Orph chews his lip, "Then ... guess you should sleep more."

Aikuen nods quickly, "Aye mate, i plan too... Oh... Thanks henry... for saving me and stuff..." He smiles genuinely to the healer.

Orph wishes his friends wouldn't go from upset to happy so fast, it's hard to keep up with who he can be mad at.

Henry has finished here, and smiles and does a quick bow to the otter, "Its why im here... Now Get some sleep, and no more getting angry! Or else im gonna have to get some beast to did you a grave! Tee-Hee" He goes off to the Dormitory.

Orph sighs, "I don't much like him, but he does get the job done."

Aikuen didn't want to hear that, especially after what just happened, "er...Right..." He looks toward his son, and the color in his face is beginning to return to normal, "Aye he does... does healing the old fashioned way... that reminds me, i need to get someone to ...clean up in the great hall... before somebody sees it..."

Orph leans back so that he's laying on the bed with his arms behind his head, "I did that already fore I came up here. ... don't like fightin with Zen ... suppose he meant well just used the wrong words t say so ... I ain't stupid, I know you wouldn't hurt none of us on purpose or anything .... Eh, Zen didn't know what he was sayin ... Ha, I been round beasts like he was talkin bout fore, I wouldn't a picked ya t be my family iffen you was like them! Zen, jus didn't know ... I forgot. You see the shield I got?" he pull a small wooden buckler out of his pack where he'd put it after it had proved to be a hindrance to him while he was using the potter's wheel. He holds it up for Aikuen to see. It is painted white but is otherwise unadorned. "What ya think of it?"

Aikuen tilts his head and looks at the small white shield. He smiles as he makes his judgment, "It perfect for a beast your size, its light, and works just like any other shield, but you can still use the paw its on... Wow,... i a haven't seen one of these things in forever... where did you get it?"

Orph has sat up to show off his buckler, "I /bought it/ at some place called the Crimson Anvil. They had lots of weapons and shileds and all sorts of things there. I figure maybe if he wants to and isn't mad with me maybe Zen could help me draw a picture on it like the bigger ones had. Not sure what kinda picture to put on it though or how to, but we'll figure somethin out."

Aikuen nods a bit and laughs, "I can see it now! The famous William Redfang Buckler, the picture on it will bring fear to all in the land! Im sure Zen will draw you something, he probably love to!" He got all excited, and places a paw on his chest. After a bit he smiles again and asks, "So you say that you bought this at a smithy im guessing... Called the Crimson Anvil, Did they have armor?" He leans back in the bed, and did what William did, and places his arms around his head.

Orph chews his lip how to word this right, "Yes there is, but it's not kept in the main shop. If you asked the shopkeeper I suppose they could take you to see some."

Aikuen scratches his chin fur, smiling up a storm. He is thinking about his favorite armor he used to have. Then something hits him like brick, he looks at William, "What! you said you 'bought' the buckler... Where did you get the money?" He hopes that he didn't steal it.

Orph continues to chew his lip, "I paid for the buckler with a vase I made and some bowls I made and um some coins I found."

Aikuen eyes William, "Clay pottery, and Coins eh?" The clay stuff he can understand, but coins... "I know you didn't get the coins from me... Where did you get them?

Orph folds his ears back /this is not going well/, "I found them one day when I was exploring a /long time/ ago. I find lot of things sometimes."

Aikuen continues to eye William, "Are you telling me the truth?"

Orph scowls, "Yes, I said I found them and I did." He can't remember exactly where he found them, but no beast was around and if they had been they clearly hadn't minded since they hadn't done anything about it that he knew of.

Aikuen head goes back when William scowls, "Hey i believe yah! Its one of my duties as a father to be skeptical." He grins a little to break the situation.

"Found em in th dirt or grass one, they wasn't in a pouch or anything so they either got dropped or thrown there. Shouldn't matter found em long time ago. Found lots of stuff. Only take wot'd be of use sides haven't /much/ since comin ere. Though jus cause theirs lot of beasts round don't mean someone couldn't take from the Abbey iffen they knew how t go bout it. The sneak sure did, but cause he's friends with Sister Sunrose he got off free ..." ... /maybe I should have slit his throat when I had the chance ... there'd be one less sneak about/ ... "... I could 'ave jus took this buckler but I didn't." /woulda got caught and got more than a hide tanning for too. It was worth the trouble of buying it./ "... First time I bought somethin fore ... but I think I did alroight."

Aikuen nods and points a claw "Aye good thing you didn't steal it, or id march your rear back, and make you work there until you paid it off... Well if you found it... and you KNOW that it doesn't belong to anybeast... i say take it and be merry..." He yawns a bit, "Congratulations mate, your growing up! a real smart deal!"

Orph lays back down, "... anybeast that's not dead right?" /'Found' that toy sword had been inside a blanket tent outside an Abbey like place ... oh well too late to do anything about it now, side take days to find that place again providing I could find it again. I'm tired better get some sleep./

Orph yawns as he settles down next to Aikuen and is soon asleep.

Knocking is heard from the Dormitory, its Henry, "Aikuen! I said you need to sleep! NOW GO TO BED!".

The otter is startled and yells back, "Alright Fine!". He blows out the candle next to him, and gets comfortable. He says softly, "Sorry mate, Mister grumpy says it bed time... good night!" But the Rattling is already asleep. He smiles, and closes his eyes. Soon he is lost to the land of slumber.

• For all you medical people out there he had a PVC or a Premature ventricular contraction. And yes throwing up releases pressure in the body, which helps stop PVC.
