And The Verdict Is...(Ferravale Role Play)
FV:Tavern(#225437R)
Outside a sign swings on a rusty creaking frame above the doorway of the tavern depicting a faded painting of what appears to be three rather rich looking skeletons slumped over a table around a black chalice, perhaps such a thing could be taken as a warning but it doesn't appear to work on the locals. The noise within on a normal day is usually heard before the door is even opened and only rises in volume when one actually steps inside.
There are the typical qualities of a tavern within, from the bar to the chairs and booths and the odd drunk who never seems to move it's the little details which encourage a patron to pay his tab if he likes his fingers. One look at some of the staff or customers might give the impression but the room is decorated to the fiercer tastes with bones, mostly skulls cropping up here and there to fill a gap on a shelf or decorating the walls above the doorways, fireplace and bar, a pair of axes joining the one over the fire with some signs that they've been yanked off to join in a fight a couple of times. Some of the comfier chairs are lined with fur and very rarely one might be found with a few pointed bits of bone to decorate the back. Despite the looks there is entertainment and fun to be had, some form of music usually played on a small stage in the corner and at least one bouncer usually tries to keep the peace while beasts gamble, drink and be merry.
A small door behind the bar leads out the back to the kitchen and cellars while one wall has been opened up in a wide arch to increase the space off into the next room where what seems to be a wooden fence with gates on either end has been set up as a fighting pit as further entertainment and something to bet over.

Briskets, gravy, mashed potatoes, rice, and cooked woodpigeon. One would think they were attending a feast with the buffet of food laid out on the table. Only one beast sits here though engorging himself as he watches a pair of rats duke it out in the fighting pit.
It didn't take long for Bandit to put on the weight he had lost on his escapade and then some! The fox's chain mail tunic under his tabard has a hard time covering the full extent of his belly, especially as he greedily gobbles away at his meal like a turkey stuffing themselves for the holidays.
Scioto walks over to Bandit and folds his arms over his chest, "Bandit? First you need to get new armor made if you are to protect yourself and this is not how a head guard should act." He doesn’t sound like he is in the greatest of moods. I have read reports and talked to some beasts and a couple guards on issues at paw right now and we need to discuss them"
The fox offers an innocent look to the cat. "Whatever do you mean?" Bandit chuckles as he uses a half-eaten bird leg to gesture to the empty seat across from him before he resumes his feast. "I bet it has been (CHOMP RIP TEAR) pretty busy for you these last few days. (CHEW CHEW SMACK) What has been on your mind Scioto?"
Scioto shakes his head, “You eat too much Bandit, what if you needed to run fast, you would also move faster if you were less...well..." He is unsure how to say it, "If there was less of you...anyways there is Markus the martin, I have chosen his fate. I am unsure of Inkpaw..Liam and that mouse maid...whats her name, have chosen theirs as well"
The fox rolls his eyes at the comments about his weight. He lets them slide however for a topic closer to home. Setting aside his meal the fox leans back, picking his teeth. "Sounds good. Given how often we have criminals pass through here I would like to not have the jail so...full." The fox chuckles, "So what the verdict? Are we building a gallows after all?"
Scioto arches an eyebrow, he maybe has thought of it, "I..have thought of that as an idea but I have another. Markus will meet Basil today; they can have a chat over ..lunch or dinner." He sounds deadly serious on this and moves on to the others "As for Liam..work off what he lost and what he stole, how long I am unsure...that mouse maid will report to Marek. Maybe he can teach her to cook and she can help cook meals, she can mop and sweep the floors and clean tables and chairs in the tavern. No pay for the week or two she works but she has a room and 3 meals a day, she will have a curfew and have a guard with her at all times and she will have limited areas she can go to"
The fox has to take a sip of his wine to hide his shock. "Harsh. But fair." He says finely. "Where do you want Basil to...uh...do the deed?" Setting down the wine he adds, "And what of the vixen...Inktail or...Inkpaw. The gal who tried pretending to be my sister?"
Scioto is silent as he thinks" Maybe let Basil into his cell, then check on them a couple hours later...if there is room...maybe you can find a fitting punishment for Inkpaw"
"I will make sure it's...discreet." The fox can only imagine what the village would think of feeding prisoners to Basil. It was already rumored to be happening but...well; maybe it would cut down on the crime rate. "I can find some kind of community service for the fox as well. Put her with the mouse maid for about a month. Maybe find something laborious for Liam to do." The fox cracks a smile, "Be good for his health.
Scioto nods "Yes, beasts need to learn they can't cause trouble in my village. Weather it’s a woodlander or a vermin. I will not go easy on some woodlander either, I do not care. The mouse maid comes here and steals money from the Inn safe and I am unsure what else she did. I have a feeling that rat has the money as none was found on her. If that rat returns he is to be placed in a cell, if he resist...kill him, that simple."
"What makes you think I would wait to put him in a cell?" The fox says just as harshly. "And you’re right of course. Beasts have been having their way with the village for too long. We have lost so many guards to these...beasts that it's getting harder and harder to find beasts willing to join."
Scioto listens to Bandit, “Then kill this..Kyran was it? I am sure others know what he looks like. If he stays gone I could care less." He ears flatten on his head, “If he still has his captive, someone can bring the captive to my home as I do not want blaimed for any death of his captive as someone said he had a Redwall Beast. But. I also don't plan on going to the abbey just to bring them back, someone else can do that or I can have someone come here..I still dislike visits to that abbey..yes I renewed the peace treaty as that was needed but it doesn’t mean I like visits."
Finishing his wine the fox replies, "I can go for you. I've been wanting to visit the abbey for a few days now anyway." Leaning his bulk against the table Bandit continues, "I'll keep the guards on the lookout for this rat. It's all we can do really."
Finishing off his meal the fox says, "Was there anything else you needed from me sir?"
Scioto nods "Yes, if you’re heading out go ahead and make sure Marcus is the ONLY one Basil speaks to, and he can speak to him this afternoon or maybe here very soon. Liam can be placed on the community service today and maybe let a guard stay close to him as well, just in case"
The fox grins in devious delight, "I'll see to it myself." is all he says, standing up from his unfinished dinner the fox ties his sword belt back around his waist. He gives Scioto a curt nod of the head before heading out to take care of his duties. It was going to be a busy afternoon. Beasts had to be handed over to community service, preparations for a trip had to be made, and he had to execute his enemies.
All in a day’s work...
Scioto watches his Head Guard head off and sits down to look over his paperwork again, he then orders an ale..a strong one, and something for lunch....hey it is lunch time after all.
