Long ago after the first Aclidian ships landed on the Western Shores, they discovered a fertile plateau south of the Great Southern Stream. Even though they were further from the Aclidian Empire than any other colony had been before, the creatures that came to this continent claimed the plateau for their empire, and set about building their homes upon its slopes. They named the place Aclidia after their homeland, and for over eighty seasons it has remained.
As the village grew into a city, Aclidia became bolstered by trade and soldiers from its parent empire. They expanded into the far southern lands, capturing fertile lands and further expanding their foothold on this continent. In the North Lands the Aclidians took a less aggressive approach. They reached out to the noble families of Stromgarde, Ironarm, and others, offering both trade and protection from the North’s roving hordes in exchange for loyalty to the Empire. The North-beasts accepted, and have since solidified Aclidia’s trade routes in the North Lands.
But that was many seasons ago, and since then the affairs of the Aclidian Empire abroad have taken their toll on the city. The once powerful Aclidian Legion, which once boasted two separate legions of 5000 armed legionnaires, has seen its troops scattered, and the majority of its numbers leave the city for distant lands where they are needed to hold back the Empire’s old enemies. Wealth and material goods followed in their wake, as did vast stores of grain and food-stuffs. The common Aclidian has seen fewer coins grace their pockets and less food crossing their tables in the aftermath of these events. Taxation has hit the North hardest of all. In the wake of Aclidian legionaries departing these shores, marauding hordes have taken advantaged of Aclidia’s weakened position by pillaging Ironarm fields, and rumors spread that the lords of Stromgarde have called their beasts to arms.
Unrest is brewing in the streets of Aclidia. The noble families and lords of the ruling council are at each others throats daily. Civil war with the Northern Lands is an ever present threat, and there is even talk of Aclidia breaking off from the Empire entirely. It is a time of intrigue and strife, and the fate of an empire hangs in the balance.
Built upon a fertile plateau on the far Southern Coasts, Aclidia is a vermin oriented city ruled by the iron wills of the few and guarded by the sharpened steel of the strong! For those with the initiative, Aclidia is a gold mine of opportunity! From the lowliest beggar, to the toughest legionnaire, or one of the powerful Aclidian Lords, nearly every kind of position in Aclidia is open and available. Roleplay opportunities are numerous and varied, and depending on your choice of position, your character could find themselves swept up in the political upheaval or, if a member of the Aclidian Legion, sent as far away as the Northlands to defend the city's interests.
My hope with Aclidia is to create a space where vermin roleplay can be achieved outside of the shadow of Redwall Abbey, free from the worry of reprisals. The city needs a variety of characters to fulfill its needs. Everyday folks are be a must, along with beasts to fight in the arena, guards and soldiers, merchants, and so on and so forth. Also available are seats among Aclidia’s noble houses, whose lords and barons govern the city beneath the watchful eye of a provincial governor. As they most likely wouldn't all be jammed into the same city at once (seeing as many would own their own lands and those lands could be spread out across muck), many of them would be away from the city for extended periods of time. This would require a level of commitment from their players, but perhaps a few entrepreneurial souls can find the time to create their own lands and continue their stories elsewhere.
Ultimately, the goal with Aclidia will also be to revitalize not only the city itself but also other relatively unused areas of the muck. ICly speaking, Aclidia has ties to groups in the Northlands, and with any luck I would like to see Aclidia having a large enough player base to where we could move those Northern groups out of the realm of theory and instill a player base in the Northlands, one that can help bring some life back into that area while still interacting with other areas of the Redwall universe. To do that however, the city needs to first have a strong following back at home.
Directions to the city are: [portal, pwl, d x15, th, ac]. Or, simply type [jump #214620] to be taken directly to the center of town. This is going to be a large undertaking, and any player who wishes to be a part of Aclidia is more than welcome. For more information about Aclidia, or to ask about joining, contact Adriana through the Muck. If I'm not online, feel free to leave me a page #mail.
I have begun work on a home page here in the ‘Groups’ section, and will continue to update it with new information as time becomes available to me. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to know anything about the city! And if you are currently running or planning on starting your own group and would like to see about organizing activities with Aclidia, please don't hesitate to shoot Adriana a line!
Welcome home!
