Abbot Lorimis Greets an Awake Leon
Leon seems to toss and turn in his deepened sleep and every so often a groan is heard and a slight movement here and there and now he is muttering, "An..Angelo..." He coughs slightly and shivers.
Lorimis is beside Leon and dips a clean cloth into a bowl of water and places it on the younger mouse's forehead, he has shooed everyone else out of the infirm except for a couple healer novices as he will not have a crowd of beasts staying in the infirm just to watch over Leon.
Leon groans and as the wet cloth is on his forehead, most likely a number of times, but this time he responds to it as his eyes slowly open and he focus on the infirm and right away feels like a whole building has caved in on him as he coughs and tries to speak but his throat is so dry he can't get out too much."
Lorimis checks Leon's pulse and speaks, "Brother Leon, can you hear me?" He calls over a novice healer to help if needed, though the abbot does know healing arts, the novice checks the bandaged paw area as the abbot sees how Leon's breathing is and gets a glass of water ready should the younger mouse need a drink.
Leon pulse is fairly good, still a little weak as he coughs, his breathing is slightly labored, but better than it was. He goes to lean forwards to drink some water and if he manages he gets a few sips before he tries to speak again, "Angelo...Angelo is..seen him.." He doesn't get much more out as he is still so tried and weak, even too weak and tried to cry like he would rather do now.
Lorimis helps him to drink some water and gently helps him to lay back down, "Try to not speak, you need rest." He notices one tear and doesn’t need to ask, its clear Leon knows as he gets a corner of a cloth and wipes away the tear, "Yes, I heard about Angelo. I did not know he was a friend and I am sorry but he would not want you to be sad, he would want you to get well again. He would want you to recover, however long that will take." He nods to the novice "Wake Angela please" The novice nods and heads off.
Leon frowns, he remains quiet. One he is tried and another he is sad about his hare friend even if he got to say goodbye he is still clearly sad, he goes to move his right paw or where it should be and frowns more going to try and move the covers off him.
Lorimis gently lays a paw on Leon’s shoulder, "No, do not try and get up Brother Leon, rest is best in your state" He adjusts the wet cloth on the mouse's forehead and offers an encouraging smile." Trust, things can be discussed after some rest. I am glad to see you are finally awake you had many, many beasts worried about you, so many I had to forbid entry into the infirm unless it was vitally important or one was a healer on duty"
Leon allows himself to be pressed down and sighs weakly, besides his right paw..wrist?..hurts now and moving it makes it worse so for now he will leave it under the covers, that and its warmer under the covers as he shivers a little and coughs once.
Lorimis smiles, he adjusts the covers around Leon " I have set a novice for Angela, for now I shall let family see you, then once you’re feeling better others can visit with permission. Does that sound ok?"
Leon nods slowly as he is about ready to fall asleep, least he is out of his deep faint.
Lorimis makes sure the pillow is soft and the covers are on Leon," You should rest Brother Leon, sleep will be good and help you recover faster."
Leon just lays here, a novice gives him an herbal mixture for pain and the mouse drinks it slowly and coughs, he gets most of it down and the other maybe 15% is on his neck fur but its cleaned off by the healer novice who also cleans the bandaged area and applies fresh herbs and a bandage like they had been shown and then leaves the abbot and Leon alone again.
Lorimis watches the novice head off and looks back at Leon smiling again, "I am very happy your back with us Brother Leon, as I was worried we had lost you, I am glad we did not and I am sure others will be glad as well"
Leon nods, he coughs and gets out a few words, "Me...also.." He frowns as thoughts of his friend come to his mind and a couple tears form." Angelo...s..said I was..still needed."
Lorimis frowns and nods "Yes you are , now please do not speak and just rest. If you like we can have Angelo buried in the graveyard in the abbey. I can speak to Elder Benar about it and the moles. I am glad you got to talk with your friend before he went into the dark forest. I am also glad you didn’t choose to join him and that you listened on being needed still and came back to us."
Leon nods, it is taking most of his strength to just speak, he would ask why his paw seems to numb but he is too tried to ask just yet as rest sounds very good right now.
Lorimis pats him on the shoulder and stands from the chair to speak with the novice that’s returned quietly.
Leon watches, somewhat as he lets his eyes close. In that between sleep and awareness state, he still is, well semi-alert as he did just wake from a deep faint and has yet to learn everything that’s gone on.
The door quietly opens to allow another beast, or perhaps two beasts all rolled into one. The fleshy fox called Bandit never did like hospitals and infirms. Too many friends lost to them, and too many times when he almost joined them. The fox had lost track of how many scars he had bandaged up in the infirm. He quietly pokes his head around the door, not quite knowing what to find, either a frantic rush of healers fighting to save the life of Leon, or a gathering of his next of kin.
The novice and abbot speak to one another quietly as the abbot nods "Yes, that is best to mention it later once he is doing better." The novice nods "What of his..umm friend?" The abbot nods sadly, "We can..he does know" He stops there as he sees Bandit and sighs, wasn't beast s supposed to not be in here, he shooed many away already as he walks up to Bandit and adjust his glasses "May I help you Bandit?"
Bandit gulps. The fox leans back and taps his paws nervously together as he gives a wiry smile. "I uh...heard Leon was ill, um, sir." The fox was never really good at addressing beasts with Lorimis' particular authority. "It sounded bad. I...came to pay my final respects...if...uh, needed."
Leon opens his eyes and looks over at the doorway his eyes about half open but he doesn't try to speak or make any sounds just yet.
Lorimis folds his paws into his sleeves, "He has a long road to recovery, but there is hope now he will not leave us"
Lacota enters the room without knocking, carrying a tray with a covered dish. "He better not leave, at any rate. This Abbey has been so depressing lately."
The fox sighs in quiet relief that the fate of the mouse was exaggerated...if only a little. He does however make a startled yelp when he sees the friar appear. "L-lacota! Long time no see!" The fox may or may not have saved the abbey a few calories by making a few pies disappear from the pantry...just one or two...or three...
Leon coughs roughly as he opens his eyes a little more. His energy not yet coming back yet, no that won’t be for a while. He does manage a weak groan at the yelling.
Lorimis frowns, "Bandit I kindly ask you to not rise your voice in the infirm or you will be asked to leave it, is that understood?" He nods to Lacota "Hello Friar, how are you today?"
Bandit gulps both from the abbot and the friar looking so...happy to see him. It was like all his school teachers boring a hole through his very soul with disapproving looks. "I...uh...I'll just check in with Leon and then be on my way then." The fox quickly shuffled around Lorimis and Lacota, "Leon! Er, I mean. Leon." the fox said in a softer voice. "How are you feeling?"
Leon would glare if he didn't feel so tried, he would demand he leave HIS infirm, he just weakly frowns and stares at Bandit. He manages to move his right arm just a little but it's still under the covered for the most part.."T..the.." He coughs and shivers a little, movement hurts some and he frowns as if something else is bothering him now.."Why..c..can't feel paw?" Words spoken roughly and in a very weak voice.
Lorimis nods to Lacota and starts to say something to the fox when Leon speaks. The abbot frowns and speaks to Leon, "Rest Leon, your need your strength"
Lacota frowns, setting his tray on a nearby table. "Lorimis, please see to it that the novice healers feed Brother Leon this broth, when he is feeling better. He has gone a very long time without nourishment, we need not let him starve to death while we're at it."
Lorimis nods "Of course Friar Lacota, I need to let Benar know Brother Leon has woken up, and please..do not let Bandit stay in here" He heads off and disappears down the hallway.
