A fun day at the pond becomes a sad day at the pond.

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

RW Abbey: Pond

The abbey pond is practically the place to go for relaxation. The orchards that settle onto one side of the water hole provide decent shade for the more heated months to come. Various types of wild flowers grow about the edge of the ground that lightly overhangs into the pond. The pond seemingly invites one into its cool depths, which holds its fish life and multiple species of shrimp and other water dwellers.

Spring has come. Due to the rains, the abbey pond is just gently lapping at the edges of the ground. Soon to overflow lightly if the spring rains don't let up soon. Plant life seems to explode here in a variety of colors, sizes and aromas.

Zinnia the badger. Caleb the mouse. LilyMoore the mouse. Chud the otter. Lacota the squirrel and Lee the otter.

Zinnia has choose the pond to be today, she doesn't have her journal as there is nothing to write down today and she rather not have anything to write down right now either. She has been a bit quiet the past few days either staying in her room or the library, or a couple times in the infirm.

Caleb is already here sitting by the pond, he looks bored right now.

Chud has been at the Abbey for the past few days and he sits down in the summer light by the pond. The pond itself is a nice, warm amber, and he dips his bare footpaws in happily.

LilyMoore has been sneaking through the grass. She is now wriggling on her stomach. Closer....a little closer...."RAHR!" She leaps out and goes to tackle her brother. If he moves, she's going to land face-first in the water and probably douse him with a splash of slightly muddy pondwater. If he doesn't get out of her way, they'll probably both fall into the pond and make an even bigger splash! Either way, someone's gonna get wet.

Zinnia watches the others by the pond but she doesn't go to join them, she just sits there silent and watches them quietly.

Caleb hears his sister and his eyes widen as he falls backwards into the pond, he gasps and coughs and gets a little ways away from her and glares some. Yes he can swim as that's one thing their father made sure of that both of his children knew how to swim.

Chud chuckles as the twins fall in the water. "Too bad you don't have a rudder, you could smack 'er one, mate!" he calls.

LilyMoore giggles hysterically, then ducks underwater. Swimming beneath the surface of the pond, she goes to wrap her arms around her brother's waist, pulls him under, then swims off. She surfaces, laughing. She is dressed in a green shirt and unbleached linen leggings. She almost looks like she was planning on swimming today.... She waves at the recorder and the otter. "Hi! Y'all should join us! It's fun!"

Zinnia shakes her head "No, I don't feel like doing anything today sorry" She in fact stands and walks further away before she sits back down again by a tree.

Caleb goes to swim back and is suddenly under the water and as he resurfaces he coughs and looks at Lilymoore "You should be careful, I didn't want to get my robe all wet like this." He swims to the shoreline and sits down pouting, yes he still has some dibbun-ness in him.

Chud laughs again at Caleb's reaction, still swinging his footpaws through the water. "Robes are meant to get wet."

The Friar and Head Guard approach the pond, deep in discussion. They don't even appear to notice the others nearby. "And furthermore, I do *not* appreciate you commandeering my pot last night. That threat I made to you and Castus wasn't idle. I *will* poison your food if you do that again." It is not entirely obvious if Lacota is joking, or serious. Scary. "Oy," the otter replies, "Ye 'ave me apologies. The whole thing were a misunderstandin', anyway. Ye got yer pot un'armed, ain't that good enough?" "That isn't the point, young rip..."

LilyMoore laughs and goes to splash water at her brother. "Oh, you're fine. Why be at the pond in something you don't want to get wet? And don't they get wet when they get washed, anyway?" She comes ashore and shakes herself like an otter, spraying water everywhere, including at her brother. When she spots The Friar, she gulps and hurries over to her destination: the Recorder. "Are you okay?"

Zinnia looks over as Lee and Lacota enter the area, but she stays under the tree for the time being. But the tree is not too far from the pond, its almost beside it in fact. She shrugs when Lilymoore comes over.

Caleb pouts "I was just sitting here, it's cooler here than elsewhere right now." He is dripping wet and frowns "I can't do anything in wet robes!"

"My thoughts exactly," Chud comments on Lily's statement to Caleb. "Why bother coming here in a habit if it needs to be dry?"

Lacota' looks up, spotting the others. "Good day, assembled beasts. Caleb, LillyMoore." He folds his arms over his chest. "Caleb, how are you doing? Are you getting your chores done every day?" Lee waves as well. "Ahoy, Chud, long time, no see, Mate. 'Ow is life treatin' ye?"

LilyMoore sits down by her friend, looking concerned. "Hey, are you okay?" She gives the Friar the smile you give people when you're trying to be polite but would REALLY like to not have to talk to them at all.

Zinnia stands and starts to just walk off towards the entry, she doesn't really answer the question, just adds "I'll be back in an hour or so...I...I need to go on a walk."

Caleb is still wet and nods "I have been doing my chores sir, and helped wash dishes this morning also."

Chud smiles and nods to Lee. "It's treating me like a mate--sometimes calm, sometimes crazy, but always there."

Lee laughs. "Now, 'ow would ye know wot a mate's like, Chud? Did ye go an' get married an' not tell us about it?" He chuckles. Lacota, meanwhile, nods to Caleb. "Sounds satisfactory, Lad. You'll make a fine novice yet. How is your mother?"

LilyMoore gets a look of concern on her face as the Recorder wanders away. She sighs and watches her go, thinking. She'll be like that for a few minutes.

Zinnia heads off towards the Redwall Entry...

Caleb smiles, he then nods "My mom is fine but she hurt her wrist yesterday, but Dad probably looked at it. But dad been busy looking at this stuff he got and like notes and stuff...on the stuff he got from this bird, who was sent by a hare"

"I can guess!" Chud says, a tad embarassedly at how his mouth ran away with him. "Pffft, at this point if I keep talking I'll have won seven wars in seven days, and killed the Lord of Dark Forest with my footpaw!"

Lee laughs, clapping a paw on Chud's shoulder. "Oy, tall tales are very important, mate." He smirks. The Friar turns to LilyMoore. "And how is your bellringing, lass?"

Great, he's addressed her. "Um......" Lily smiles and shrugs 1 shoulder up to her jawline. "Oh, y'know, sometimes good, sometimes not so well. I like doing it, though. It's fun." Her muscles are more defined, too. It's amazing what ringing bells can do for a person. She then gets a wicked grin and runs towards her brother. "YAAAAHH!" she goes to tackle him into the pond again, aiming to get him farther away from the shore this time.

Caleb was ready this time and manages to sidestep, just barely this time and frowns as he watches Lilymoore.

Chud watches LilyMoore go with a smile on his face. So energetic. Much like himself. When he's not sleeping, that is. "Aye, back home I was a bit of a tales-spinner even when I was a wee 'un," the young otter says to Lee.

Lee nods, chuckling. "Well, ye'll 'ave ta tell us some o' yer tales sometime, Chud. I'm sure beasts would be 'appy ta hear 'em. Not enough storytellers about, if'n ye ask me." Lacota seems satisfied with Lily's answer, so he strolls over to the nearest tree and sits down beside it, enjoying the coolness of its shade.

Oh, so he wants to play dodge-the-running-twin, does he? Time to get creative. And possibly slightly sadistic. Lily turns and dips, making a large wave with her paws. Headed STRAIGHT for her brother. "Take that, Caleb!" she then gasps and ducks under the water's surface as she sees the wave will also be headed for the Friar. Uh-oh.

Caleb gasps and the wave of water soaked him even more, he frowns, wait he was in front of....oh no. And there is no time for a warning most likely.

Chud nods. "Aye, that I will do. I was thinking of writing some of them down eventually. Poems, songs, tales." Then the wave hits and he's soaked, laughing.

Lacota' is facing away from the pond, just about to settle into a short nap, when it happens. The squirrel is suddenly drenched, head to toe, with pond water. Lacota sputters and yells, flailing about in rage. "WHO SPLASHED ME? WHO SPLASHED ME? YOU BETTER ANSWER ME NOW, AND ANSWER TRUTHFULLY, OR HEADS ARE GOING TO *ROLL*." He wipes his eyes, and stands, looking very much like a drowned rat, his normally floofy tail all matted down with water. "Chud, is this YOUR doing?"

Lee doesn't say a word...

LilyMoore lifts enough of her face above the water to breathe and looks at Chud sadly, literally [and silently] asking for him to take her fall. She looks miserable, somewhere between barfing and sobbing. She didn't mean to get the scary Friar! It just happened! She's hoping and praying that Chud will understand that. And that no one else will spill the beans and give her up for murder.

"Aye sir, that it is," Chud says cheekily. "What are you going to do about it?" he says with a grin. Tipping a wink to LilyMoore and nodding a goodbye to Lee, Chud bolts off before Lacota can answer.

Lacota' shakes with fury, but before he can lecture the rude young otter, he's gone. "Well!! I never! And what did I ever do to that beast, I ask you?" He starts wringing the hem of his robe, trying to get the water out. "Incorrigible rip."

Caleb glares over at his sister, then watches the otter bolt off, then shakes his head at his sister again "You're so...so mean!" He then stomps over to the orchards and pouts under a tree

LilyMoore at first can't even begin to describe her joy at being freed fromt he hook of the Friar's wrath, then her heart sinks to her otes at her brother's words. She stands as a tear tricjles down her cheek. "I....I just wanted....wanted to play!" her lips quivering, she bolts off, running as fast as she can so she can hide somewhere and cry.

Thanks for reading! Poor Lily :(
