A day at the Abbey
Characters: Aikuen, Fira, May, Timothy, Kentar, Lucas, Halcyon (And sevearl spoofs)
Redwall Abbey: Aikuen's Quarters
Afternoon rays of sunlight breach through the tiny window of Aikuen's room at the abbey. Yesterday, Aik and Fira left Moledeep about nightfall, like he said they would. They waited for Kentar, but he never actually showed up, but just fine with Aik. Its still continued to rain as they walked along the dirt path north towards the abbey. As they walked, they didn't talk much, because mainly they were trying not to slip and fall in mud, also there was hardly any moon. So even if it wasn't raining, Fira couldn't read him. Aik didn't mind much, he just enjoyed the company, even if she did laugh at him for falling on his face in a mud puddle. They reached the abbey, a little after midnight, and the rain had receded to a light drizzle. They walked inside, and to no surprise, there was nobeast up. Aik lead Fira to his old room at the abbey, to wait till tomorrow for collecting supplies. It was incredibly dark, and both otters were tired and wet, to care much, as they both went straight to sleep.
Aikuen awakes as one of the rays shoots him in the eye. He grumbles a little bit as he rolls over and places a paw on Fira's side trying to get back to sleep, and even though she isn't facing him, he still smiles and says, "Morning Fi..." he gives her a kiss on the neck, before deciding to get up and get dressed, in his pants that he left out to dry.
Fira is almost awake by the time he stirs, well she rolled over a minute before to try and get the sun out of her eyes. As he moves and particularly because of the kiss she opens an eye, still looking very sleep. She groans quietly and rolls back over to flop onto her back, let her eyes adjust to the light. A rather deformed "Mornin'" comes out too but the odd sound of it may be partly due to the yawn in the middle of it.
Aikuen blinks a few times as he hears the odd noise. It sounded like 'Mourn-na-a-ling', but he can guess what it is well enough. And it also came from her, so it cant be all bad. He turns to his wife as he buckles his broad belt, and he reinstates, "Morning Fi!... Have a good sleep?" he chuckles a little bit, as he walks over and flops next to her, placing his paws behind his head.
Fira makes all sorts of odd noises when she's not paying attention. Comes from not having a clue what she sounds like. She stretches a little before looking back to him again, going to lean over and give him a kiss as he flops back down "You have a very comfy bed here"
Aikuen grins at the kiss, and he takes one of the paws behind his head, and places it around her as much as he can, "I guess so... Well I'm glad that haven't given it away to someother beast... I've kinda gotten used to it... and now... its also your bed... and your room" he then laughs as a dust clod flies through the air and out the window, "Could do with some cleaning though..." he then pull her in, to hold her close to him, just for a little longer, before they have to get up and get the supplies they came here for.
Fira snuggles up to him for now, enjoy what little time they have before it's back to work getting supplies. She smirks at the flying dust "Maybe next time we're here. It'll just get dusty again while we're away if we do it now"
Aikuen smiles and nods, "Sounds good... because then we would have to get up... and i wouldn't be able do this!" he smirks and places both his paws behind her neck, and gives a pressed kiss. After a good long while, he grins and says, "And i enjoy that... very much...BUT... daylight is burning, and we got things to do..." he sadly has to let go of her, and gets up from the bed walking over to his pack, and starts to scrounge around inside.
Fira mmms and kisses back, wrapping her arms round him but then he escapes again and she finally sits up "I know, I know..." a little squint at the window "Looks like the rain stopped anyway" another yawn and she gets up at last.
Aikuen says, "Don't know if that's a good thing or not... I personally like the rain.... i don't like mud puddles..." he involuntarily scratches his nose, "But no rain, will make the trip back a little easier...Ah! Here you are you little nut!" he laughs a little bit as he pulls out a large iron key, and walks over to his trunk. A very large, heavy looking, metal trunk sits in the corner of the room. It has four keyholes at the top. He kneels down, and places the key he found in the second to last spot and twits, and there is a light clicking. He then reaches into his pocket, and pulls out another key. It looks exactly the same as the other one, and places it in the last keyhole, and twists constantly. There is a lot of clicking as the latches come undone, and unlocking the trunk. He grunts a little bit as the last latch comes off. He has never shown any other beast the contents of this trunk... ever...
Aikuen lifts the lid, and has to look away as the light reflects off of the contents. On the right side, filling the entire side is nothing but gold coins, there is just too many too count. On the left side, there is a mound of jewelry and gems, worth more than the gold on the right. He grunts again and says, "Well... This is yours also..." he nods, and starts to count out some of the gold coins, and placing them in a pouch.
Fira gets dressed and by the time she turns back again she's neatening up her headfur, tilting her head a little when she sees him fiddling with the trunk. Her eyes widen a little when he opens it though and she can't help but go over, her mouth hanging a little open "Spirits above...I've never seen that many coins in my life let alone gold ones"
Aikuen sighs, "Yah...I try not, to let it get to me..." obviously not proud of the money that he could be. He counts off about a hundred, and the takes two of the gold rings and places them in his pouch. He seals off the pouch and puts it on his belt. He sighs again and says, "Were married... and you didn't fall in love with me, because of my wealth... but fell in love, with just me..." he smiles a little bit, "So this is also yours now... take what you want... I don't have much need for it anyway..." he points at the contents and then goes to his pack, and hefts it on his back.
Fira tilts her head faintly and moves a paw to give one of his shoulders a rub, she's not moving to take any "There's nothing wrong with having money...it's not that important" she smirks faintly "though maybe the next time we don't have to scrounge off the abbey. We can get better stuff, they've got enough to feed and share everything in this place"
Aikuen smiles and stands up, and gives a big tight hug to Fira, "Another reason...I love you so much..." he smirks back at her, before kissing her nose, "That's true, though they are more than willing to give what we need, i do feel bad about taking it... Next time, we will go to the market instead... just wanted to spend some time with you alone" another quick kiss on her forehead, before he goes back to the trunk, closing and locking it. He takes the two keys and puts one in his pocket and another on the desk. He goes to stand next to her and holds her a little bit, "We need to go to the infirm... i need to get a restock on medicine... but i cant let you go..." he says with a smirk.
Fira laughs quietly and hugs him back, smiling happily at the kisses and watching him close the trunk again "Well the market is further away, we couple just stop out in the woods over night...or some up with a reason to visit my place, that's even further...I have to admit it's nice to get away for a while" soon as he's done with the trunk she leans over to aim a little kiss at his cheek "I'll just have to come with you, make this take that much longer"
Aikuen sways a little bit, and smiles at the kiss, "Visit Holt Silverwater? I haven't seen a holt in seasons... Sounds great... we can spend a few days there..." he grins, "A little longer? just for us? Hmmm... I like that idea" He smiles evilly and rubs her back with both paws, giving her a small kiss. The infirm can wait...
Fira raises her paws, one to rest on his chest, the other on his cheek "Well it's just a big lake with the odd rickety building but it's hidden and it's quiet" she smirks faintly "But not yet because Kentar is getting married soon and we have to get stuff for the cake" aiming a little tap at his nose.
Aikuen blinks a few times, and looks at her paw that tapped him "Cake?... What cake?... OH! Right... cake..." he chuckles a little bit, and takes her paw and rubs it a little bit, "Totally slipped my mind... Kentar's wedding... and the cake...oops..." he laughs, "That's just another thing we have to add on our list!" he smiles and gives one small kiss on her cheek, "If we are too get back before it starts tomorrow... betting get cracking on the list... Our First stop is the Infirm... Come on Fi!" he is being excitable again as he continues to hold her paw and rush out the door.
Fira laughs at him and allowed herself to be pulled off out the door "You're lucky you brought me along or Kentar might have killed you for forgetting!" jogging along to keep up with him as he rushes about.
Redwall Abbey: Infirmiry
Aikuen enters the infirmary, and goes to sit down on one of the beds, closest to one of the medicine cabinets. He still hasn't let go of Fira, and when she sits down he gives a quick sudden kiss, before laughing, "There is nobeast here... how surprising!" he blinks a few times, and kinda yells out, "Oi! Is there a healer in here!" he then looks back to Fira and says quietly, "Mind as well ask before i take some of their medicine... I hope Henry isn't here..." he grunts a little bit, but remains smiling.
Fira smirks faintly and aims a little nudge at his ribs with her elbow, not enough to hurt "They're probably all busy somewhere, like next door. Do we really need that much from here?"
Aikuen fake oofs when he is elbowed, and fakes dies on her shoulder, "Oh... you killed me...heh... good thing were already here!" he laughs a little bit and has to let go of her paw so he can walk to the cabinet, but keeps his face pointed at her "Were not getting alot, just wanted to make sure that they knew i was taking a few things... And if they're in the other room... they are probably too busy tending to the sick..." he turns back to open one of the cabinets, and pulls out a few things, placing on the table. He names it off as he takes them, "Colds... vomiting... bleeding... knock out... Bandages... splints...medical kit!" he chuckles lightly as he continues to pull stuff out, and naming them off. He soon has about 15 different colored vials, and some medical objects on the table.
Fira just laughs as he dies, yeah, she loves him that much. She slowly shakes her head at all the stuff "I wish I could say we were less prone to accidents but I guess we really do need the supplies...What about we just leave a couple of coins anyway? I mean I know they're not asking but they really are too nice for their own good round here"
Aikuen is putting all the stuff into his pack, after grabbing one the belts with pouches to store the vials. He nods and smiles to Fira, "Sure thing Fi, I've never really thought about... and maybe they can use the money to buy something they really need... Its win-win... i dont feel bad about, technically stealing from them... and they can buy something with it..." he opens his money pouch and pulls out about 20 gold coins and places it in the cabinet. He then closes the doors and walks back to the bed and flops back down next to her, "I think that should be enough..." it should be... its almost ten times more then the stuff was worth.
Fira aims a light pat at his arm "So long as it's one of the healers that find it it should be fine. Shouldn't think anyone else will be poking about their cupboards anyway. What's next on the list of things to get?"
A little mouse babe starts to crawl in to the infirmary but his efforts are thwarted by a older babe who picks him up. May holds the her now struggling baby brother around his middle and scolds him, "No, no, baby. Not suppose to go in there." She looks up and sees the otters, "Hi! .... What you doing?"
Aikuen scratches his head as he remembers his mental list of things, "Lets see.. i got more money... we just got the healing supplies... We still need to go down to the kitchen to get; two weeks of rations, some other food... that's not rations..., flour of course... and stuff to make the cake with. Then i also need to stop by the garden and pick up a few seeds, get ready for the fall planting... Oh! Do you want to stop by the library to get some more books... I know Moledeep has got a few, but there mostly about Moles... Well hello May... and...May's brother i presume" he waves a little bit, "Just getting some supplies before we go back home..." he looks back to Fira and blinks a few times.
Fira slowly grins as he comes up with the idea of going to the library, she does like reading "Well I doubt they'll like me taking their books but I'd certainly have a little look around anyway. It's been a while since I went in there" her attention switches to the little mice and she raises a paw "Hey there"
May, still holding Timothy, smiles "You going down stairs?"
Aikuen gives a quick kiss to Fira's cheek before standing back up and hefting his pack, "Yep, we sure are, May... we got a few more places to hit... then we need to get back home!" He holds out his arm for Fira to take a hold of, and looks directly at her "Just ask Sister Aaria, one of the library-aides she will be more than happy to... ahem... 'lend'... a few books to us for a little bit." he smirks a little bit.
Fira gets up again and loops her arm around Aikuen's, tilting her head faintly too "Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask..." she looks back down to the mice for a second before a quick glance to Aikuen "Kitchen then?"
Timothy begins to crying not wanting to have been picked up in the first place. He wants to explore and go places he isn't suppose to and his sister is stopping him. He struggles more wildly since he can't talk yet and tell May to put him down.
Aikuen begins to walk out the door, when he hears the crying. He sighs a little bit as he stops and looks to Fira. He gives one of those 'Hold on' faces. He takes Fira's arm out of his, and kneels down toward May, and the baby, "Since Jullian isn't here, let me see him... He is just being fussy" he holds out his paws. He was a father once, he knows what to do.
Fira doesn't notice the crying until Aikuen stops, a fact that'll worry her one day but right now she's just a little puzzled "What's wrong? Hurt himself or something?"
May has to think this over a little first. After a minute or two of indecision she lets Aikuen take Timothy from her. "You got be careful cause he's little," she warns as she hands the crying infant over.
Aikuen smiles and lifts the mouse-babe up, cradling him in his arms. He chuckles a little bit as he begins to rock the babe in his arms, "Ill be careful... he is no bigger then a book... he just wants to explore don't yah!" he laughs, and begins to lowly hum, just soft bass notes... trying to get the little one to stop crying, and get to sleep.
Fira just stands there, watching Aik and the child from the doorway. Little smile creeping in after a minute as she tilts her head.
Timothy does stop crying once he sees where he is. He turns his head and looks down and May who's still on the floor. He gurgles happily and sticks his tongue out at her because he's up high and she's not. He's not sleepy and tries to climb the otter, but he's not strong enough so he settles for gumming on his arm instead.
Aikuen frowns, as his plan didn't work. He ows as he is bit with the babes gums, "Ow! You little buggar! Not sleepy eh?" he smirks a little bit and holds him in the air, and flies him around. After that he holds out Timothy back to May, "Well i tried... just let him explore... but keep a good eye on him, and DONT lose him... after awhile he will either tire, or bore himself and stop." He smiles a little bit and walks back over to Fira, "Sorry, i thought it would work..." he holds out his arm again, "Now we really need to get to the kitchen!" he laughs a little bit.
May nods and takes Timothy back. "Okie. Mama's in the kitchens if you need help," she says carrying her brother back out to the hall.
Fira smirks as Aikuen gets gummed, no sympathy, just amusement "You tried" she says when he comes back and she once more takes his arm again, follow him on off to the kitchen.
Redwall Abbey: Kitchen
Aikuen smirks back at Fira, "I tried... but at least he didnt have teeth yet" he chuckles as they enter the Kitchen, where several helpers are bustling around getting ready for supper. He leads her to one of the less busy area, and sits her down on one of the sacks of grain. He then looks around for one of the less busy helpers to help them, "Hey can you help... no... okay.. How about... no... fine..." and he continues to keep a look out, he doesn't see Mary... but she might be off in the larder or something.
Fira rolls her eyes faintly and after Aikuen's failed attempt to get some attention she tries herself, picking out one she vaguely remembers from the last time they were here and she splits off from Aik, putting on an exaggerated grin "Heey! How's the cooking going? Smells great" pulling the cook away from vegetable cutting with the power of small talk.
Aikuen blinks a few times, as Fira goes off to snag a cook using small talk. He snorts a little bit as it actually worked. He smiles as he laughs and walks over to them, putting on the ole' charm "Hello cooky! Its does smell absolutely fantastic... i wish i could be a good as cook as you... but I'm lacking in the skills... and the ingredients..." he pulls from his pocket a list of supplies he needs from the kitchen and holds it out for the cook, "And since your food..." he leans a little closer, and smiles, "is so much better then the others... I was wondering if you could get some for me... so i can be as good a cook as you!" he tries not to laugh, so he can keep up the charade.
Fira rolls her eyes a little bit with a little smirk and exaggerates a whisper to the cook "My husband. Terrible flatterer. We are lacking a few things, our plants aren't really ready yet" looks a little apologetic but with the cook happy enough to help they should have everything in no time.
Aikuen glares at his wife, as he heard her quite well. He doesn't say anything until the cook goes off, "I was just... Ug... Well, i probably didn't even need too... I think you swayed him enough, just by talking to him..." he grunts a bit, and waits till she isn't looking and gets a kiss on her and saying, "Thanks anyway..." as he waits for the cook to return. He snags a pastie as one of the helpers pass by with a tray of them. He breaks it in half and hands a half to her, "Here, late lunch!" he laughs a bit more.
Fira smirks back at Aikuen, she's not feeling guilty in the least "It's all in good fun. Amused him and now he'll happily help us which is of course better than unhappily helping us" she plucks her half of the pastie off of him and munches on it as she moves for the door "I'm going to pop to the library" aiming a quick kiss on the cheek as she passes "don't forget the seeds"
Aikuen smiles and nods as Fira leaves, "Okay! Ill come and get yah when were all ready to go... But take all the time you need. See yah Fi..." he turns, "What?" the cook, who had returned and is giving him a very odd look, "She is my wife, Don't laugh at me..." But Aik laughs anyways and put his pack on an empty space on the table, so they can both put things in the pack.
Kentar has kept away from the otters today, and is now only coming into the kitchens from Cavern hole. The stoat has a nice, pure golden necklace in his paw, and he cant seem to take his eye off it and almost bumps into a mouse because of it. "Oh. Sorry." he smiles a little to the mouse before stopping and looking at Aikuen. "Oh! Aikuen." he smiles.
Aikuen stops putting things in his pack, and blinks a few times. He shakes his head and rubs a claw in his ear. Thought he heard Kentar... That doesn't make sense... He hmms a bit before looking toward the voice just to make sure. He stares at the stoat for a bit, then looks away then back at him again, "Kentar?" he whispers something to the cook, and then walks to the stoat and pokes him. He laughs as he is real "Well hello mate! Thought you weren't coming? Wow, what is that?" he points at the necklace.
Kentar smiles and holds up the golden necklace. "I made it for Garnet a while back. Melted down the gold of several old rings I had. I left it here when we went to Moledeep and I came back to get it. I will give it to her on our wedding day." he smiles wide.
Aikuen smiles, "Its looks great mate... good for you! Were just about done with getting supplies, got one more stop at the gardens... And Fira is in the library getting a few books..." He walks back over to the cook, and pats him on the back, "That looks great, thanks for your help" he puts paw in his money pouch and pulls out a handful, "Here take this... Yes i know... But take it anyway... by some exotic spices... i dont care, but I'm not taking it back!" He laughs as he closes his pack. The cook blinks a few times, and walks off.
Kentar smiles and sets the necklace away in his pocket. "So. Got anything interesting, Aik?" he asks with a smile. "Yeah, it is great." the stoat replies belatedly. "I really wanted to come and get it myself to give to her." The stoat peers at the pack slowly.
Lucas opens the door looking a little nervous but he holds the door open for the bird "Um, just a second" he grabs the closest cook he can find "I promised cake, find me cake" clearly it's very important to get the bird cake. He'll greet in a second.
"Cake, cake," Halcyon warbles softly to herself as she pokes her head through the door and turns it this way and that with quick movements, taking in the sights and sounds of the kitchen. It's a tight fit for the giant raptor to get through the portal - she tucks her wings in close and mutters a little as she stalks through. On the tile, her sharp talons make a click-click-click.
Aikuen rolls his eyes, as he knows what Kentar is wanting, but he closes his pack sharply "Yes mate... i got the recipe and the stuff to make a... cake.... and apparently were not the only one who wants one..." he hefts the pack on his back. He looks to the bird as the clicking is heard. He is open mouthed for a few seconds before he shrugs a little bit, and walks back to Kentar, still keeping his gaze on the bird. Still in a bit of shock.
Kentar looks up at the otter. "You realize that your carrying everything back home right?" the stoat grins before looking towards Lucas. "Eve-" The stoat stops and looks at Halcyon. "EEEP! OSPREY!" He yelps and jumps up off the ground for a moment, dashing behind a counter, and making himself very small, trying to stay hidden.
Lucas offers a vague shrug to the yelping stoat but understandably he's a little distracted by the giant bird. Cake soon appears though, a good sized slice of a rather nicely decorated one and he offers up the plate for the bird "Here we go, cake, it's very nice"
"The screaming one-eyed one knows!" Halcyon flutes in triumph, drawing herself up proudly, which dislodges a copper pan hanging over her head. It goes crashing to the floor, eliciting slicked-back feathers and a startled screech from the osprey, who backpedals and eyes the object with deep suspicion. After a few moments she takes a step towards Lucas. "Cake, yes, thank you, cake." The raptor tilts her head this way and that, observing the offering from several angles, then bows her head to take a nibble.
Aikuen blinks at the stoat. Yes, Halcyon is scary, but not that scary, "Come on mate, your embarrassing me... ug... yes... its a bird of prey... but its at the abbey, and no one is attacking it... think about it..." he shakes his head, as he forces Kentar to stand up, "Now, say hi to the nice bird! Look! its to busy eating cake, to eat you!" he chuckles a little bit.
Kentar shakes his head quickly. "No. I leave now, or I wait till the thing is gone." he says, shaking. He's had a bad run in with an osprey once. Been afraid of them since. "Is it gone yet?" he peers over the counter then ducks low when he sees the bird is still there.
Lucas flinches slightly as the pan hits the floor. It could be worse, it could have been something that would break. Still, the osprey has cake now and he blinks as he finally have a moment to see Kentar has hidden "Um, no, it's alright. She eats fish, not beasts...apparently we are sour"...he doesn't want to think on how Halcyon knows that.
Halcyon raises her head and tilts it Kentar and Aikuen's way. A blob of meadowcream tips her hooked beak. "Am not /thing,/" she clicks, fixing her golden eyes on Kentar. "Am Halcyon, osprey. Landwalkers are sour, yes. Lucas knows this." There's an note of approval as she says that. She dips her head to the plate again for another bite, smacking her 'lips' as it goes down, and considers the taste. "Not like fish. Pebbly."
Kentar stands sort of behind Aikuen now after Lucas spoke. "Sorry...um..." he looks and Lucas and sort of hopes someone will save him! "Well. I should be going now..." he backs into pots and pans, clashing them all to the ground. "EEP!" he yelps and jumps forward, eye locking on the osprey again.
Aikuen holds his mouth as the bird describes them of tasting sour. Not really wanting to test that theory he looks to Kentar and his crashing fall of shame, "Mate, if your that scared, we can go... i need a few more things before it gets to be nightfall..." he looks in the direction of the osprey and Lucas, and waves a little bit, "Evening to the both of you. Nice to meet you Halcyon, mighty predator. And hey Lucas, been a long time since we last chat... maybe another time!" he sighs as he goes to help Kentar up.
Lucas tilts his head at Kentar, well at least he wasn't that bad today "Evening. Sorry about this. Introducing cake" he looks back to the bird again "Is, um, 'pebbly' good or bad?"
Halcyon dips her head just slightly towards Aikuen. "Fair winds and fair weather," she whistles politely; a drop of meadowcream falls from her beak to the floor. The big raptor keeps her fierce eyes on Kentar, though; he's being unreliable at best. "Screaming one-eyed one, you are throwing stones in the peaceful redstones?" she asks, wary. "You look of fear and flight." The cake's siren call tugs at her - with a quick movement she snips a large chunk from the cake and looks back to the otter and stoat while she swallows.
Aikuen blinks at Kentar's quick retreat. He scoffs and looks to the other two, "Sorry, but i got to dash... Evening!" as he checks the pack, and is quickly off after Kentar.
Lucas scratches his head faintly. Well the osprey has cake, with Kentar's disappearance no one's panicking. He offers a quick nod to Aikuen and then another to Drystan as he appears "Evening" hanging about to make sure the bird's happy.
Redwall Abbey: Cavern Hole
Kentar flies out of the kitchens almost, stopping at a table then panting hard for breath. "Oh...man, I hate those birds." he sighs, tears almost in his eye.
Aikuen huffs after Kentar. He's carrying a lot more stuff than he remembered. He gets to the table where Kentar is and leans on it, "Wheh... Sure can...can ran mate..." he huffs a bit more, "It was... just an Osprey... it wasn't that scary lookin'..." he whews as he catches his second wind and sit on one of the table, placing a paw on the stoats shoulders.
Kentar pants hard then sits down too. "I had a run in with an osprey a few seasons ago." he opens his tunic a little, showing a bad scar that goes slightly over his heart. "Almost killed me, the thing did. Been scared of them ever since. I hate them."
Aikuen winces a little bit, at the scar, "Ouch mate... Geeze... I'm sorry... Hey! at least this one doesn't eat beasts... that's always good!" he chuckles a little bit, and then is silent, "Yah... i can understand that... but you seemed more scared, than having the burning rage, that is hate..." he states bluntly.
Kentar blinks then shakes his head. "I mean I hate being around them. I don't hate them, and they don't make me mad, but they scare me. A lot." he says. "I mean, really scare me."
Aikuen oh, and nods, "Oh, okay... That i can also understand... in your predicament..." His breath has caught up to him, so he stands up and walks a bit, "They are quite scary... But i had to work with birds of prey on a regular basis... They still scare the hell outta me... but i almost never show it..." he hmms a bit, "Are you okay now? Cause please dont break a lung or anything..."
Kentar nods a little then takes a deep breath. "Lets get what we need, then go home. Pleeeease?" he looks to the otter, hoping to get out of here soon. "I'm not comfortable here with the osprey."
Aikuen goes wide eyed, and laughs a little bit, "Ye... Yah... Sure... come on... to the gardens" he grunts as he reseats the pack as he takes the stairs up to great hall, and then to the garden.
Kentar stands and goes to help the otter carry the pack as he goes to the gardens.
Redwall Abbey: Garden
Aikuen huffs a little bit as he carries the pack to the garden, good thing Kentar was helping him... or else it might have taken longer. He sets the pack on the ground and sighs, "Alright i need to talk to one of the brothers... need to get seeds for the fall planting..." he takes a deep breath and looks for a particular brother. He taps one, thats working, on the shoulder, "Plik?" the mouse brother looks up and shakes his head. Not Plik... Aik says sorry, and walks off to find another one, "Plik?" A Weasel looks up from his work and looks at the otter, " 'ello Aik... I can guess why your here...heh... *caugh*... heh..." the ancient brother walks over to the otter.
Kentar looks to the mouse that Aik thought was Plik. He smiles a little then follows the otter towards the ferret, staying quiet so Aik can say what he needs to with out his stoat idiocy.
Aikuen smiles a little bit, he doesn't much care for the brother... but he will get us what he needs... unless he talks him to death..."Hello Plik... If by knowing that i need some seeds... then yes your right..." he grunts a little bit, "This is Kentar... Kentar... This is Plik, one of the weeders..." He grunts again, "So Plik, could you please go and get the seeds for me please, its getting kinda late..." Plik frowns and goes off toward one side of the gardens, to get the belt pouch of seeds. He then comes back and holds the belt out to the otter. But as soon as the otter tries to reach for it, he pulls it away, "Now Aik... I gave you a bunch of seeds for summer... What are you gonna do for me... for this batch hmm?" he smiles, and grunts like the otter.
Aikuen frowns, "Well... what do you want... I thought abbey beasts were supposed to be giving..." Plik tilts his head, and smiles evilly, "I'm old... i dont care about rules and stuff... Have anything of value on yeh?" he places the belt on the ground. Aik gives another frown, "That's not right... Your supposed to giving and helpfully... not stingy..." he reaches into his pocket and pulls out and another handful of gold, "I have this...." He pulls back his paw at the brother reaches for it, "No, no... Its not for personal use... you are to use it for the abbey... not just yourself... go it?" He places the gold in the Weasels paws, and while the Weasel is distracted he takes the belt and latches it on him. He then walks back over to Kentar and says, "Grouchy ole' thing isnt he... heh"
Kentar frowns and looks at the weasel. "No you don't take that. I'll be reporting you to either the abbot or another brother." he frowns. "We don't have to pay for supplies from the abbey." he tries to take -everything- that Aikuen gave back. "Expect to hear from the order!"
Plik, as soon as he sees Kentar coming at him, drops all the coins and runs away from the stoat. Obviously the weasel is not a big fan of confrontations with beasts. Aikuen tilts his head at Kentar, but doesn't stop him, or try to help him. He just states this fact, "I was trying to give that money... to the order itself... not him... I feel bad about taking things from the order... and then not repaying them for it... And i know there not supposed to take money... but i don't care about that... I'm just trying to help the abbey..." he stands there arms crossed. Some of the brothers look up from their work, and most go back to weeding... but some remain watching.
Kentar blinks. "Well. I had a feeling he would keep it for himself. The stoat picks up the coins and then hear's the otter's words. He quietly goes over to one of the watching brothers, and fills a paw with the coins. "For the order then." he nods, smiling before going towards Aikuen again. "Even more so since he charged us in the first place."
Aikuen smiles and nods, "True... But he was always like that, Plik... By tomorrow.... he will forget who we even are... I'm just glad he didn't talk us to death like the last time i was here... That was the payment... Listening to him jabber for a few hours... Anyways... I got the seeds for next season..." he pats his new belt with pouches.
Kentar smiles and nods. "Good. But yeah. Still. I have no problem with you giving your money away willy nilly to the order, but to a beast who I'm sure would keep it to himself, well." he shrugs, grinning. "Just looking out for ya!" he smiles.
Aikuen shrugs, "Its okay...But thanks all the same..." He sighs and looks up at the sky, "Come on mate... one more stop... then its back to Moledeep..." He takes a bag of flour from his pack and hands it to the stoat, "Here... if you carry this... I can carry the pack easily..." he hefts the pack on him and smiles, "Alright, let go get Fira... to the library!" as he starts to walk back inside.
Kentar takes the flour and tosses it over his shoulder. "There we go. Lets go. And I want to get back to bed so I can get up early and make the nice cake!" he smiles before going off to find Fira.
Redwall Abbey: Library
Aikuen walks in and is immediately shushed by a passing aide. When the aide passes, the otter stick a tongue at him. He then lightly chuckles, "Ive been here before... that's why..." he carefully places the pack on the ground, and whispers, "I'm gonna go find her... Ill be back in a sec..." and walks off, soon to be lost behind the shelving.
Kentar nods and then sits down somewhere, looking around, the stoat taking a book and reading it quietly. He sneezes from the dust then gets shushed by three beasts at the same time. "Sorry, the dust y-" "SHH!"
Aikuen walks among the shelving until he can sniff her on the air faintly. He smirks as he walks to a place in the back corner of the library. She is sitting on one of the chairs, totally engrossed in a book. There is also a small pile of books next to her. He laughs lightly as he walks toward her, giving her sneak attack kiss. She eeps, and giggles because at first it scared her, then seeing who it was goes to kiss him back. Both noises were uncontrolled, and when it happened the room was filled with shushes, and one even said quietly, "Stupid otter...". Fira doesn't care, because she couldn't hear it... And Aik doesn't care, well, just because he doesn't. They have one of their silent conversations, before they walk back to Kentar. Aik is carrying the small pile of books, and Fira has an arm around him. When the younger otter sees Kentar, she waves a little and says "Hey there!" and is quieted again.
Kentar looks up and smiles a little, but he says nothing for fear of getting shushed. He mouths the words 'Can we go?' and before he even gets an answer, he picks up the sack of flour before heading for the door.
The otters look at each other and nods at the stoat. Aikuen places the books in his pack, "Ya sure" he says loudly, and he is shushed. Aik snorts and says, "Oh, go shush yourself... oops" he hefts the pack quickly and grabs Fira's paw, who doesn't know anything, except for what Aik said. They both rush out of the library, off to follow Kentar.
Redwall Abbey: Great Hall
Kentar phews when he gets into the hall. "I hate being shushed." he says before yawning and thinking. "Can we go home now?" he grins.
Aikuen laughs as he leaves the library, "There quite stingy aren't they... And yes... we have all the things we need... we can go back home..." he looks to Fira and gives her a quick kiss on the cheek, "Yep, we got everything... come on!" still with a hold of Fira's paw... he is being excitable again as he runs out of the hall, toward the grounds and is soon on the path heading home. It was nice little excursion... have to do it again sometime.
Kentar follows the otters and readjusts the flour over his shoulder. "So. Anyone know a good traveling song?" he asks as they go off.
