A Task to Earn His White Leaf Charm-Novice Log
==Short Novice log, Caleb has his task for White Leaf now and will do his best with it……

The library has never looked better in seasons as shelves have been
repaired and so have tables and chairs. The once empty sleeves now
have more books in them and not only that the books are in an ABC
order and arranged by subject to better find what one is looking for.
The beautifully crafted windows are well cleaned.
This gives the library plenty of light during the daylight hours. The
room has a high vaulted ceiling. The flagstones of the floor are cool
and smooth, and echoes are sometimes heard when beasts walk. Brass
lamps containing short, fat little white candles provide enough light
for reading. Some books are still being mended but being working on
getting on the shelves. The backroom is even very clean and organized
as well. Books were found in the attic and some from Ferravale were
added that the Ferravale beast had maybe two copies of something so
gave Redwall one of the copies for the Redwall library, all in all a
lot of hard work has done wonders for the library.
On an Oakwood desk is the charter laying inside a clear glass case for
all to see. The glass case keeps it safe and clean. Some other chairs
large and small, wooden and soft, have been placed in varies places
in the library and a pile of covers and blankets sit in one corner
with a few pillows as well.

Caleb was in the library placing books back on the shelfs, back to working hard on novice stuff and trying to find a recipe earlier.
Thorn looks over the book she has, a simple one and growls as she slides it across the table and it thumps to the floor, she crosses her arms over her chest and pouts now.
Benar walks out of the book binding room and glances over with a frown at Thorn, he starts to head her way but first he needs to place a recently fixed book onto the shelf.
Caleb walks over; he doesn't notice the abbot yet and speaks "Umm...Thorn? You could damage a book that way and whats the matter you seem in a bad mood or something....anything you need help with?"
Thorn ears go back as she looks at the mouse," Oh nothing, just find it hard to read the stupid letters are all upside down and sideways to me, makes it hard and it’s also hard to be called just a stupid vermin in class, so why even brother to try, tis no use its dumb"
Caleb frowns "Learning to read isn't dumb it’s helpful, I..I could help maybe." He gets the book and shows it to her, "I am..unsure what ya mean by upside down though, how is that possible?"
Thorn shrugs "Just is, it’s a sort of rare thing to see the letters all,....strange and all, and makes it hard to focus on reading, then writing goes with it. I have survived not reading this long so why do I need it now not like I would EVER be a novice...there is no vermin that’s a novice and never will be"
Benar can hear whats going on as he reshelves some strolls that fell over yesterday, he sighs and finishes and starts to head to the main area library where the two beasts are.
Caleb is unsure what to do, he glances at the book and at the ray maid, "Ummmm maybe take your time, rethink what you’re seeing , if you know its backwards then remember that and turn it around, it may help and reading is important in everyday life, so is writing as it helps one. I could help you with both if you would like and maybe with anything else you need help with. And as for novice well as long as you have a kind heart and your good, you could be a novice but it is hard at times, takes a lot of work and is a lifelong thing to have for one's self."
Thorn ears perk slightly, “You would...help me?" She shakes her head "Like you have time with all your own stuff to do"
Benar clears his throat “I think it would be a very nice thing for Novice Caleb to tutor you Thorn, an hour a day to help with reading and writing, and even teach you some basic novice information as well." He looks to Caleb "That’s if Caleb whats such a task, this most likely isn’t a simple day or two issue, could be a couple weeks or more of time."
Caleb jumps slightly at the voice and spins around to see the abbot, "Abbot Benar I didn’t see you there at first, I am sorry." He listens to what is said “Me tutor...Thorn?" He looks at the rat maid and back to the abbot and smiles "I would be glad to help her, and I can teach her the charter also, help her with reading and maybe writing, helping beasts is a good thing."
Thorn smiles a little "Hello father, what are you doing in the library so early?" She goes to hug him and blinks as he speaks of her getting a tutor, she decides to be quiet as she listens to the two speak.
Benar hugs Thorn in return and smiles, “Making sure abbey logs are up to date since we do not have a recorder at the time, or least till Sister Zinnia returns, if she does and wants to be recorder again she can, otherwise we will need to find one soon." He nods to Caleb “Thank you Novice Caleb and I will expect you to keep me updated on how things go with the tutoring, alright?"
Caleb nods "Of course Abbot Benar I will keep you updated"
Thorn smiles a little more, someone is willing to help her when they usually just walked off or laughed at her and it’s one reason she usually disliked the novices here and avoided them. She nods to Caleb "Thank you for...well for agreeing to help me, I am gonna need all the help I can get"
Benar nods "Well then, I will speak to you both later as I have some things to tend to that require my attention." He exits the library and heads to his quarters.
Caleb watches as the abbot heads out and looks to Thorn"So..did you want a quick lesson now or later on?" Always a good idea to find a good time of day for tutoring time. “We should do it the same time every day and a quiet place like maybe the library or even outside somewhere, course if it rains we have to go inside somewhere."
Thorn shrugs,"I..guess or maybe after lunch is a good time out in the orchards, and when it’s raining we can go to the corner of the library, is that ok?"
Caleb nods "that is a good time of the day, an hour a day as the abbot said and after a day or two I could make..papers you could study at times not in tutoring"
Thorn says, "Ok then, I guess will see you after lunch Caleb and thanks again for your help"
Caleb says, "Your welcome Thorn, I am glad to help"
Thorn grins and then heads off, most likely to go think in a tree in the orchards
