A Meal Together, A nice talk in the Tavern(Marek Redemption TP)
- Morning after this http://rwmuck.limitless.org/rwmuck/content/talk-abbot-benar-and-then-bac... -
Outside a sign swings on a rusty creaking frame above the doorway of the tavern depicting a faded painting of what appears to be three rather rich looking skeletons slumped over a table around a black chalice, perhaps such a thing could be taken as a warning but it doesn't appear to work on the locals. The noise within on a normal day is usually heard before the door is even opened and only rises in volume when one actually steps inside.
There are the typical qualities of a tavern within, from the bar to the chairs and booths and the odd drunk who never seems to move it's the little details which encourage a patron to pay his tab if he likes his fingers. One look at some of the staff or customers might give the impression but the room is decorated to the fiercer tastes with bones, mostly skulls cropping up here and there to fill a gap on a shelf or decorating the walls above the doorways, fireplace and bar, a pair of axes joining the one over the fire with some signs that they've been yanked off to join in a fight a couple of times. Some of the comfier chairs are lined with fur and very rarely one might be found with a few pointed bits of bone to decorate the back. Despite the looks there is entertainment and fun to be had, some form of music usually played on a small stage in the corner and at least one bouncer usually tries to keep the peace while beasts gamble, drink and be merry.
A small door behind the bar leads out the back to the kitchen and cellars while one wall has been opened up in a wide arch to increase the space off into the next room where what seems to be a wooden fence with gates on either end has been set up as a fighting pit as further entertainment and something to bet over.

Marek has made sure to let others know, and with the bouncers help, the Tavern is not open till noon or lunch time, but one beast was allowed inside and that was Reseda. He has set up a table with fresh strawberry scones, some mellow cream, tea and some oatmeal with fruit and honey and to drink a light cherry cordial. A table setting for two.
Reseda enters and walks over, “Well this is interesting and nice of you.” She chuckles some “Do you know how many grumpy beasts are outside?”
Marek shrugs, “Let them be grumpy, I said noon and meant it. And this is breakfast as I promised.” He sits down and watches to see if she sits down or not.
Reseda does sit down and nods “Thank you Marek, this is so very…nice of you” She would of said sweet but she is not sure those words are wise to say.
Marek smiles faintly as he gets a scone, ”As you can see, I can cook and Zaram helped with the drink, he is very good at drink making and course there is our ale brewer as well. But Zaram has a couple things he makes of his own.”
Reseda listens as he speaks and tastes a scone, she smiles warmly “You’re a very good cook, then I knew that already. I think your do good as Tavern owner.”
Marek shrugs again “Maybe, I do not know..a couple beasts left Ferravale cause of me, a couple others have forgiven me and some have mixed feelings and I think some could care less what I do with my life.” He eats his meal quietly, a little lost in thoughts it would seem.
Reseda eats her oatmeal and a couple scones, “You seem..lost in thoughts or just quiet, or planning lunch” She smirks at the last words.
Marek looks at her and sighs, “No just…still a little depressed, then again as I said last night, Abbot Benar was right I caused much pain and I have killed some of their former guards and beasts. I never laid a paw on the healers and I did make sure, to the best of my ability, make sure no harm came to order beasts and some still did. My 2nd in commands did not listen to me and I regret that now. Yes at the time I may have wanted to kill a leader to gain better control of the abbey when I had it under my control, but I didn’t kill any leaders while there. Yes I did ration food, but I didn’t waste food..I kept the crops growing as it was to be my home and base. I do not blame them for hating me and I do believe Abbot Benar is wrong…some beasts at the abbey do wish me harm, maybe not inside the abbey but outside I am fair game for death most likely.”
Reseda frowns, “Well, then show them you have changed. I am unsure how but maybe by helping them and by showing you don’t mean harm to them, show kindness to them. Help them from the outside.?”
Marek sighs “And how do I do that?”
Reseda answers, “Well first, help make sure that insane mouse is stopped before he does something to harm the abbey, you have helped Ferravale keep an eye out for him. Maybe Scioto can put in a good word for you.”
Marek speaks “Scioto’s words may mean nothing Reseda, and some are not totally sure of Ferravale I am sure. Yes he is a powerful leader and they have a peace treaty but does that really help?”
“I think it does” Says Reseda “I think it does a lot as a leader confirming you’re not the same as you were a couple seasons ago, a leader that’s given you a sort of power in a way like owner of the tavern, control over whats cooked and served here and all the beasts that come and go into the tavern. You even cook some of the food here. An abbey beast could come here and watch you and see you have changed, maybe a couple beasts from inside the order it’s self..did you speak to any beast besides the abbot?”
Marek nods “ Brother Leon and his daughter, but his daughter knows little of my past I think and she says to be my friend and I think she is, my only true friend there. Brother Leon seemed glad I helped his daughter when she was missing a couple days, it was I who took her to the infirm, perhaps she will help let them know my ways have changed, I..I don’t know. Trust takes time and I think forgiveness even more time. I can’t change what I have done, nor bring anyone back…I told the abbot I was sorry.”
Reseda smiles “That’s a start then.”
Marek finishes his meal and stands “I should finish getting ready for lunch.” He leads her to the door if she is down.
Reseda walks to the door with him and on outside,” I say take one day at a time ok Marek?”
Marek simply nods as he walks her to the infirm, “Have a good day..Reseda.”
Reseda nods and smiles, she gives him a small kiss on the cheek before heading inside for her Master Healer duties of the day, “You as well Marek.”
Marek looks surprised at the kiss on the cheek and watches her head inside. He stands and then smiles as he touches his cheek and lightly chuckles before heading to the tavern.
Watching from a tree, cloaked in green and brown is a hidden figure. They tilt their head and smirk as their voice speaks coldly to themselves. ”Well..you two are close, how interesting…this proves helpful.” He slides out of the tree before he is seen and makes his way through the crowd waiting to get into the tavern as it’s soon lunch time. He manages to make it to the side wall and on out a small gate and walks a little ways into the woods to where a ferret with a longbow stands,” Quickarrow..I have most interesting news.”
Quickarrow nods “What is that Master Irinevok?”
“Some fun, let us go there are plans to make and beasts to…capture” The two beasts head off down a path.
Meanwhile Marek opens the tavern at noon, after some choice words from a few beasts he shakes his head and soon beasts calm down as there is food and drink to be had and whatever else happens in the tavern of Ferravale, his day seems to be going fairly well...for now.
