A Master Healer For The Village

Outside a sign swings on a rusty creaking frame above the doorway of the tavern depicting a faded painting of what appears to be three rather rich looking skeletons slumped over a table around a black chalice, perhaps such a thing could be taken as a warning but it doesn't appear to work on the locals. The noise within on a normal day is usually heard before the door is even opened and only rises in volume when one actually steps inside.

There are the typical qualities of a tavern within, from the bar to the chairs and booths and the odd drunk who never seems to move it's the little details which encourage a patron to pay his tab if he likes his fingers. One look at some of the staff or customers might give the impression but the room is decorated to the fiercer tastes with bones, mostly skulls cropping up here and there to fill a gap on a shelf or decorating the walls above the doorways, fireplace and bar, a pair of axes joining the one over the fire with some signs that they've been yanked off to join in a fight a couple of times. Some of the comfier chairs are lined with fur and very rarely one might be found with a few pointed bits of bone to decorate the back. Despite the looks there is entertainment and fun to be had, some form of music usually played on a small stage in the corner and at least one bouncer usually tries to keep the peace while beasts gamble, drink and be merry.

A small door behind the bar leads out the back to the kitchen and cellars while one wall has been opened up in a wide arch to increase the space off into the next room where what seems to be a wooden fence with gates on either end has been set up as a fighting pit as further entertainment and something to bet over.

Scioto is at the tavern early today as he eats breakfast of some oatmeal, fruit and some simple water to drink. There is a light rain outside and it looks like it will later be a good sunny day outside.

Jase makes his way inside the tavern. The young cat has been in Ferravale a few days now and has helped out in the infirmary a good deal. He even helped a rat who got a nasty gash from a fight in the fighting pit. He now sits close to Scioto and gets something simple for breakfast and starts to eat it quietly.

Scioto looks over at Jase as he finishes his own breakfast, "Greetings, you must be Jase. Welcome to Ferravale I am Scioto , the chieftain here in the village. I been told you have the skills of a healer, is this true?"

Jase blinks and looks over at Scioto and nods "Yes..yes sir, this is true. I been helping with things in your infirmary such as some minor cuts and a broken paw once, oh and there was the rat from the fighting pit I had to stitch his side up and tend to a head wound, but he should be ok as long as he stays clear of fights for a few weeks, if...umm that’s even possible"

Scioto nods as he listens and studies the younger cat, "So...you sound fairly skilled. What all do you know on healing or other skills?"

Jase answers as he finishes his drink "Well sir, I study a lot of plants and herbs, I know poisons and antidotes. I can even help tend to an herb garden in your village if you would like. I can tend to broken bones, wounds large and small, I know of different illness as my father and mother were both healers in southern Mossflower area and for a time on a ship we lived on a season. They both taught me a lot of things. I even know there is such a thing as a beast getting too cold or too hot due to weather and how to treat them both. I have saved beasts who were near drowning before..well once but they survived. I may be young but I have been taught healing skills, watched and got to help, since I was 2 seasons old"

Scioto nods as he listens, "Well, you seem a beast who knows what they are doing, I am willing to give you a chance and I am much interested in this herbal garden idea of yours. We do have a small area we have herbs, but it's not tended to as well as it should be. Are you willing to teach others your healer skills Jase?"

Jase smiles "Yes I can teach others and have taught some skills to a beast before. And I be happy to help with that herbal garden as it will help in the future for your village. Yes some herbs are still needed to be gathered in the woods or gotten at the market but basic ones can be grown and even a couple not so basic ones can be grown. You could maybe have a couple by the river behind your mill as well "

Scioto nods and puts out a paw to shake "Then I would like to welcome you to the village as my new Master Healer, that’s if you think you can handle the job as it may be a lot of work"

Jase gasps in surprise and then shakes his paw "Of course sir, of course!"

Scioto nods “Then welcome Master Healer Jase to Ferravale, you will have the large room in the infirm to stay, sleep and have meals at the tavern. I need to tend to patrol now, have a good day" He then leaves to let the new Master Healer settle in.
