A Little Chat

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Just before this, Cera dumped oatmeal on Leon's head. I'm only logging from here though! So ya'll can go read the radio.

Odira, the stern, strong Infirmary healer squirrel is being dragged on a lunch break by her daughter Ahndia. They come in from the kitchen with a small tray of snacks, chatting.

Rowan walks up from where he fell asleep in cavern hole. Looking around while stretching he notices Leon with Oatmeal on his head.

Leon sighs, he stands and looks for a towel to clean off with, getting some oatmeal on the floor, he shakes his head,"What do dibbuns have agaist me"

Odira makes a face as she sees Leon, and Ahndia stops in her tracks. "Oh, Brother Leon! What happened? Do you need any help?"

Rowan Watches the scene for a moment before speaking up "I thought you knew how to eat better than a dibbun mate"

Leon looks at Rowan, "A dibbun, though if called her that guess she get mad,..Cera did this to me, said she wanted to run away, I told her no and, get oatmealed and she stomped off, don't think guards will let her leave, she is only like 5 seasons"

Ahndia sets the tray down on the seat of a chair. "Oh, that-" She fumes. "That's no way to treat your elders! Do you need me to get another cloth for you, Brother Leon?" Odira pulls over another chair and settles down in it with a sigh.

Rowan frowns giving a heavy sigh. "Mate I already spoke with Flicktail and Jo about this, but I believe the one who adopted Cera is the true problem at its heart and with good reason. She bit a mouse's paw yesterday and shoved the..."

Leon gets a cloth as he listens,"never meet her father, but still" He cleans off most of the oatmeal, "Still she shouldn't run away she needs talked to"

Ahndia looks indignant at the name of Cera's father. "Sir Maleficius is a fine creature, Rowan. You shouldn't speak ill of the guests we have here." Her tail wilts and her ears go back as he leaves in a huff. "What'd I say?" She asks her mother. Odira smiles gently. "Come and sit. I'm sure he's just stressed. Leon, Cera wil be fine, too. She won't be able to run away- the guards will catch her. And either Benar or Oz will speak to her later. For nw though, I'm glad to see you out of the Infirmary." she knows that DoraRose is always pressuring him to take more work breaks.

Leon smiles"I am trying to not be up there all the time, even took a small walk yesterday to try and relax"

Odira leans back in her chair, letting Ahndia pour her some tea. "That's good. We don't need you all the time, you know." She teases. "THough your expertise in the infirmary if always welcome." Ahndia interrupts to hold up the teapot. "Would you like some Brother Leon? It's chamomile."

Leon at first looks like he will say no, then nods "Sure, tea is fine, thanks, guess alot on my mind, one reason took a walk and Cera had mentioed wanting to learn healing, not so sure she wants to now"

Ahndia nods and pours Leon a cup, holding out the steaming glass to him. Odira takes hers and sips it before responding. "I'm sure she's still figuring out what she wants to do. She's a good age to begin learning, but since she wasn't always here, I think that she should probably wait for a little while longer before she decides what she wants to do with her life." Ahndia, kneeling on the floor, curls her tail. "I'm already a novice, and I'm still thinking about it!" Odira looks at her quizzically. "I thought you said-" Ahndia gives her a look, and Odira shrugs.

Leon nods as he takes his tea, "Someone said novice were like..6 seasons unless someone felt them ready so could start maybe when almost 6 seasons guess, don't know, like said don't always do well with dibbuns and sort of worries me for..well future things that is coming up soon"

Ahndia nods. "I'm 5 seasons, but Elder Benar said I was ready." She grins at his last comment, but lets her mother respond. "Oh, yes, that's right. Well, if you ever need help with the dibbuns, just say. I've had more than enough trouble with this one." She smiles playfully as she nudges Ahndia with her sandal. "I'm sure you'll be a fine Father, Leon. And DoraRose will be a great mother." SHe says reasuringly

Leon shrugs, "I don't know how good of a father I will be, I might mess up somehow, worry on that a little"

Ahndia gets up quickly, going to hug the mouse. "Aw, don't say that, Brother Leon! You've got to be optimisitic about it, otherwise you /will/ mess up!"

Leon smiles a little at the hug,"Just..lots of responiabity and..some of the dibbuns here, well...run from me or like this morning put oatmeal on my head, still remember when a group of them took crow feathers, syrup and leaves and it was all over me, that was while ago"

Ahndia snorts at the memory of the feather incident as she sits back down. "That's pretty much just DAB, though. Mumma, just this morning, had to drag a whole bunch of them out of the infirmary." Sister Odira nods, draining the last of her tea. "That I did. Speaking of dibbuns, Ahndia, could you go find Marley Tealera? She was asking after you." Not questioning her mother, AHndia nods, getting up again to go find the mousewife. Odira watches her leave the room.

Leon says, "Heard of the DAB, they tried to start to food fight at the feast, it didnt last long and was stoped quickly""

Odira chuckles. "I was there for that. I caught one of them, Feather I think, trying to run off with snacks for the DAB headquarters in the attic. She got sent to Oz for punishment after dumping a pie on another dibbun. my my, do they cause trouble."

Leon nods "Well, have not seen or heard of anything major with the DAB, yet anyways, maybe they just need to put energy elsewhere, dont know"

Odira leans forward in her chair to pour herself more tea. "Yes, they aren't really an organized group at all. Hopefully it will stay that way." She pauses to lean back again and sip her tea.

Leon says, "Well, I tend to avoid them and hopfully I do well with my own dibbun after its born, not that they get in trouble right away just they are so small""

"Ahndia was a sweetheart as as dibbun, not that she isn't now. I'm sure your dibbun will be just the same." Odira wraps both paws around the steaming teacup. "Have you started thinking about names?"

Leon shakes his head, "Not yet, not really anyways I guess I should huh, guess been busy in the infirm alot lately"

Odira tut tuts. "That's just what DoraRose means- you spend far too much time in there." Like she's one to be talking. She smiles. "Though I admit, I rarely leave the infirmary as well. Ahndia has been on my case about it recently."

Leon smilrs, "Well I feel...needed in the infirm and sometimes a novice healer asks for help"

Odira nods in agreement. "Yes, everytime I leave I feel as if that's the time I'm really going to be needed. The novices need help, or somebeast is going to ask for me and won't know where to find me, or somebeast I know is going to get hurt."

Leon says, "Well hopfully no one will get hurt, I will probally be up in the infirm later to check on thinngs"

Odira drains her second cup of tea, just in time, too, before Shandar comes slouching in. Not noticing her at first, Odira responds to Leon. "Oh, I doubt anyone will be hurt. There's more than enough help for creatures up there, and if something serious happens, we will be one of the first to know." Shandar slinks over, walking aimlessly. Ahndia's voice shouts from Cavern Hole. "Shan? Shan, where'd you /go/?!"

Leon nods" Well, true still I do find it hard to leave the infirm, once there as find something out of place, or an herb is needed or something"

Odira shrugs, opening her mouth to say something, when her inner dibbun warning goes off. Without turning, she speaks to Shandar. "Shandar, what are you up to?" Shandar looks up, huffs, and stops walking. "Nuthin'." Ahndia pokes her head around the stairs, watching. "Oh, there you are."

And here is where I had to go!
