A Healer's Job Is Never Done
RW Abbey: Infirmary
Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.
Exits: Infirmary [Rec]overy Room, [H]ealer's [D]ormitory, [O]pen [G]round, [Hall]
Zork is still in the infirm, frankly he is afraid to sneak out right now, so he will stay a few more days to be on this stupid bed rest.
Leon comes in to check on Zork and offers a smile "Now can't be that bad right? Feeling ok today?"
Zork shrugs "Bout de same, I would leave but you or Angela would just make me come back when me own room is a lot more comfortable"
Zinnia is helped in by a couple guards, she has some scrapes and an arrow in her leg, also a bump on the side of her head as she is helped to a cot and frowns. Also lets add leaves and small trigs of a tree in her head fur.
Leon nods and blinks as the badger is brought in and hurries over "What the seasons?"
Zork eyes go wide and he is instantly sitting up in bed and reaching for his walking staff and standing, "Zinnia!" It's not that far to the cot she was placed in and he doesn't need a wheelchair to go two to three beds over to get to her side.
Zinnia frowns, "I was..was attacked by Longfang, he was on the road. But Bandit got him to Ferravale he..he's in a cell now."
Pearl the infirmary looking around cautiously trying not to disturb the occupants.
Leon frowns, he frowns more at Zork "Zork, get back in bed or least sit down you shouldn’t be up and trying to walk." He then tends to Zinnia and frowns at the arrow as he studies it, "This will need out, and it will hurt most likely but it can't stay in your leg." He looks over the other wounds over," These are not as bad, but will need tended to after the arrow is out."
Zork shakes his head, he sits by Zinnia, "Staying by me daughter." He is concern and that’s for sure. He listens and nods keeping anything else under control, the ermine is locked up, so that’s good.
Zinnia leans against her father and sniffs. "Papa..."
Pearl coughs softly and says "I know some healing, it looks like you could use some helps," she says to the mouse that looks like he is in charge
Leon frowns, "Just hold her, this will hurt a lot..." He goes to get clean rags and then is back and looks back at Pearl as he goes to grip the arrow with his paw after laying the clean rags down, "Ok...your need to hold pressure on it once the arrow is out and then I will need to get some herbs for it." He then goes to pull the arrow out best he can, he knows it will hurt either way it comes out.
Pearl rushes to the bedside and does as Leon instructs.
Zinnia tenses up and hides her face in her father’s tunic as the arrow comes out and shivers some as that did hurt. She takes a couple deep breaths and sniffs again. “That...hurt..."
Zork holds Zinnia close and rubs her back, he decides not to watch Leon either as he talks to Zinnia, "It’s out now, it’s ok...things will be ok "
Pearl says, "it's ok it'll be over soon,"
Leon frowns as he lays the arrow aside and gets the needed herbs "I am sorry Zinnia, the worse is over." He cleans the wound and others and applies the needed herbs for swelling and infection prevention and then bandages the wound "There...your need to stay off the leg a few days and let it heal and get some rest." He then asks "You said Longfang is where?"
Zinnia looks over and at her leg before answering as she wipes away tears, "Ferravale, in the cells there. Their head guard to..took him away.."
Pearl says "Longfang did this to you? who is he?"
Zork does his best to control any temper, he answers only after he is calmer, "Ermine from the Northlands, one I hope is taken care of."
Zinnia answers as she is getting tried, "A..vermin." She is still in a good deal of pain and she is worn out as she did manage to fight back.
Leon mixes some herbs into some warmed water and gives it to Zinnia, "This will help the pain and also help you get some rest."
Zinnia drinks the mixture and frowns as she leans against her father and falls asleep, she sniffs a little and is soon asleep.
Pearl nods in understanding at their description and understands that they are tired so she does not ask any more questions.
Zork carefully moves her so she is laying down in the bed and almost falls backwards as he leans on his staff and sits in a chair by her cot and holds her paw.
Leon frowns, "Zork...you need to be careful as well, you can't even stand well and you need your own rest. She needs you to be able to be around, not ill yourself."
Pearl reaches out to help keep Zork from falling and helps him into the chair
Zork allows help and nods thanks, "She is me daughter...Leon, get me wheelchair outta me room then and bring it here, I will sleep in de cot beside her I not be leaving her side Leon." He leans back in the chair
Leon sighs and goes to take his pulse, "I know that Zork, just....take it easy...ok, please."
Zork pulse is up a little, hey he just seen his daughter come in injured , the only thing that keep him calm enough was hearing the reason for it was in a cell elsewhere. He nods,"Yeah..." He gets out still holding Zinnia's paw.
Pearl looks back and forth between the stubborn badger and the healer. She did not know either of them so she decided not to take sides but she would stay and help if she could
Leon sighs and gets something else, yes he keeps it in here, Zorks tea and he makes a dose and hands it to him "Drink it." He says and sits down. "And ok, stay close to her its fine."
Zork takes it and sips it slowly as he nods "Thank ya Leon." He then nods to Pearl, "Ello miss..."
Pearl brakes into a grin "Hello sir, I'm Pearl, I just arrive here this morning," she says with a small curtsy
Zork nods "Zork Winters, glad ta me ya"
Leon smiles "And I am Brother Leon, Master Healer of Redwall abbey."
Pearl says, "nice to meet you both"
Zork smiles "I use ta be de Blacksmith but now Silverstorm is and she be good at it too. Me daughter Zinnia here is the Recorder of the abbey"
Leon nods as he looks around the infirm, things are in order so he doesn't have anything to really do infirm wise right now.
Pearl sat down on the bed next to Zork and said "I am sure your daughter will be up and about in no time. She just needs some rest and time to heal,"

Zork finishes his tea and sits down the mug as he glances at the sleeping Zinnia. He nods "Ya right, But tis natural ta worry about ya daughter"
Leon says, "She will be fine Zork, trust me. And if Longfang is in a cell he won’t be an issue anymore hopefully."
Zork says, "Course, " He says softly “Course..."
Pearl says, "I know, family is important, I have family back home, I worry about them all the time, but worrying is not going to keep them safe or make them well, she needs you well when she wakes up, I know you do not want to worry her yourself, "
Leon decides to check on a couple other beasts on the other side of the infirm.
Zork nods, "I know and I will be ok as well, just got bit worried was all."
Pearl smiles and looks at the badger sleeping in the bed, she could see how much Zork loves his daughter. "Would you like me to sit with you?" She says.
Zork shrugs, "I should lay back down, Brother Leon be right. I should take it easy and be careful. I am just glad she wasn’t hurt worse than she was...and I am glad she is alive as she could of been killed, she doesn’t have any fighting skills, may have someone help her learn..least self-defense"
Leon checks on a squirrel and a mole before making sure other things are in order, and walks back over to them, "Laying down be good Zork, I will have a novice bring your chair to the infirm so you can be with Zinnia."
Pearl gets up so that Zork can get in bed she watches carefully to see if he needs help and is read to offer some if need be
Zork uses his staff and slowly gets up and goes to lay down in the cot by Zinnia. He keeps the staff where he can get it when needed.
Leon makes sure Zork is ok before he heads out, "I need to check on some things, have a good night."
