Halyard Village: Graveyard

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Halyard Village ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The soul graveyard for Halyard Village, it stretches for quite some distance.

Sloping up a hill, the old, overgrown place is littered with gravestones,

both new and maintained, and old and broken. The markers are no longer

strictly in rows, but rather have come to fall wherever seems best at the

time, working around the large rocks boulders that pock the soil of Halyard

Village.

[B]ack to [O]rchard

Flint had not planned to have a day like this, but things don't always go as planned so he got something to cushion his healing foot paw and came back to the beach where the boat wreak was. He has sent a couple runners back to the beach to discourage sea gulls from coming back to where the dibbun's mother lay on the beach.

Windrose followed Flint to see what was going on, "What is going on? Was some beast injured? Just where are we going and whats the shovel needed for?" So many questions she has and seeing the boat she frowns, "Please say it's no one we know"

The wrecked boat is still here, as is the body of Sunflower. She was a badger of maybe middle seasons. The sea gulls have keep away as too many beasts here and at least one with a longbow and arrows it sort of discourages them. The fog is eased up some now and what is seen is the fight earlier with 3 dead gulls and pieces of the small boat. A boat barely big enough for the one beast, but had a dibbun as well.

Imogen is out for her normal walk and looking for out of place things as she does after most storms and comes upon the boat and gathered beasts and frowns. Well so much for looking for much as she walks over "Wots up ya lot?" She goes to sit on a bit of broken boat.

Flint nods to the hares and arches an eyebrow at Imogen" Someone died, a dibbun's mother so either you can sit thar and stare or maybe help so at least she has a proper burial." He sighs as he speaks “I did ask and the village graveyard is ok with this, just wish we knew more about her..." He looks at Windrose and shakes his head "No one we know dear, not to worry on that at least"

Windrose cups a paw over her mouth and walks closer, "This is so sad...where is the dibbun, you said there was one?"

The hares here, a couple runners and a fighter hare nods to Windrose and Flint, "All that was found sur is a journal, it mentions her and her son trying to find a better place ta jolly well live. Her name was Sunflower and the son is Xander. It goes on to say they were out of supplies and wot they had she gave to her son and not herself the last few days. I say that on top of the injuries of the shipwreck and maybe the cold is what caused her death, maybe she kept the dibbun warm sir?"

Flint listens and nods "We need to take her to the graveyard and the dibbun is at the mountain, in the infirm. The Redwall ambassador was keeping an eye on him." He looks at Imogen if she is helping she can come otherwise in his mind she should leave.

Imogen rolls her eyes but she helps. She may be a thief and sometimes rude but she is not heartless at times like this. She helps them and then she walks off into the village, yeah she doesn’t like graveyards as they are spooky and you never know..maybe the dead will come to live and get you

Windrose follows and does what she can to help them.

This doesn't take too long. A grave is dug and the body placed in it and covered up. A small, simple headstone is placed that has marked on it, here lies Sunflower...a few minutes of silence and then the hares head back to the mountain leaving Flint and Windrose to follow when they choose to.

Flint sighs as he looks at Windrose and hugs her, he may not of know Sunflower but it's still a death and he just feels the need for closeness right now.

Windrose allows the hug and frowns, "Is the dibbun ok? Was there any other blooming trouble I should know of Flint?"

Flint shakes his head, "None important me dear...well there was sea gulls but they were taken care of, and some vixen was there but she wasn't attacking anything except de sea gulls lass" He tries to think" The ambassador was injured but I think Ava was on her way to the infirm to have a look and she be a good healer" He kisses her cheek "Let’s get back home."

Windrose smiles at Flint and goes to help him back home, going slow if needed. "I am glad you’re ok and that the dibbun is. I do hope everyone else is ok as well."

Flint nods "Yes I do as well. The dibbun is like just a season or two old I believe and now we jolly well know his blooming name so that’s a plus." He seems glad of the help home as his foot paw is feeling better since he got that last sliver of glass out of it, though all this walking after he was told not to was not the best plan but he does plan to stay off it a good 2 days and then get back to patrol duties.

Windrose helps him back home and to the Dining room.

Salamandastron: Dining Chamber

This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron. It is a

veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the room

so big. Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak.

Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its

presence is undeniable. Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room,

each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce. The chair

at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that

occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord. The massive

object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the

sun setting over the sea.

Windrose gets some oatmeal, toast and green sap milk for her and Flint and then sits down" Well guess the day could of been worse, let’s be glad it wasn't worse."

Flint takes the food and frowns "I would never wish worse on any beast, trust me..even a vermin. Sea gulls can be dangerous beasts but this morning also proves that things such as fights and such are not the only thing that be dangerous, heck bad weather can and small things we take for granted like enough food and water, well some don't have that..some have very little."

Windrose nods "I know...maybe we can try and help beasts like that sometimes. I mean like get some things like some rice cakes and maybe some rolls and pass them out in the village to the homeless beasts and see if the village could set up a place to let them out of the cold and have a nice meal, even if its temporary"

Flint smiles as he eats his meal "That’s why I love you, always thinking of others me dear."

Windrose smiles and then blinks "Wot did ya just say Flint?" She seems taken by surprise by his words and studies his face for a reply.

Flint is suddenly coughing on his oatmeal and takes a long drink of green sap milk, did he just say what he thought he said. He straightens up and smiles weakly at Windrose, yeah he let his feelings slip of how he feels "I..well lass..." Great you can let words slip but when it's important you can’t repeat them, just wonderful.

Windrose frowns at the coughing and starts to get up to pat him on the back and then stops once it's clear he is ok again, "You...said you loved me" She watches him for a reply, her meal forgotten for now as she gives him her full attention.

Flint nods slowly "Aye, I did lass." He finds the courage to smile now and takes her paw in his "I do love ya Windrose and always did, even before the toads took me..thinking of you was one of the things that keep me going and gave me a reason to stay alive, a reason to want to live and not die, to know that I will get out of this and when I do Windrose will be jolly well waiting on me when I get home and you were lass and I was so so glad."

Windrose smiles and goes to hug Flint, "I love you also Flint and very glad you got back here safe. "

Flint returns a hug as well and smiles warmly. He feels happy and needed and loved. He has Windrose and he has his nieces here as well, well now as good a time as any to ask something important, he leans back from the hug "Windrose, I..I don't have any ring or anything and maybe that’s not needed..wot be important is the fact of my love for you and yours for me." He takes a reassuring deep breath before he asks “Will ya marry me Windrose?" Hey if he doesn't ask now he may never ask out of fear of a reply and there is still some fear of the reply, but he is willing to hear the reply good or bad.

Windrose answers the question and he is in luck of a good reply, she kisses his cheek , "Yes" It’s a short simple reply as no need to say why she said yes as that should be clear and she already told him she loves him and he loves her, no need for a drawn out why its yes, just a simple yes will do.

Flint smiles at this reply and closes his eyes and just holds the hare maid close, the day started out horrible but then just became the best day in his life.
