A Bad Day...Thanks To Drew.
- Starts in the woods and ends up in the Abbey, Leon was just done collecting herbs and…well read ****
Somewhere in the woods a mouse is collecting herbs for his infirm, fresh herbs were always good and he was low on some, he looks around staying alert to things around him and listens for any unplaced sounds.
Zork comes along, singing an out of tune song on something or other that only he seems to know. He grins when he sees Leon and tilts his head as he hears something.
Ryiah and her 4 fox friends have made sure it’s not too quiet as her fight with the squirrel Drew goes on, she growls “Ya killed enough of my clan you stupid woodlander!” 2 of the foxes are dead, and her and another keep fighting.
Drew sidesteps a slice from a sword and slices with his own dagger hopefully injuring one some more and answers the vixen, “ya be scum, you destroyed my tribe, your mate attacked us, so my job is to hunt down every last fox and kill them!”
Ivy stays off to the side, she has yet to truly learn to fight well and seems disinterested in fighting at all, she holds her short bow and tries to aim for the squirrel and fires, but she misses by a few feet and the arrow slams into a tree.
Leon frowns and slips behind a bush watching the fight, he sees Zork and sends him a look that says be quiet.
Zork is already quiet and already getting out his large blade, he slips behind Leon, “Hey isn’t that thar Drew, so help him or see wot happens?”
Ryiah growls as Drew manages to cut the side of her friend, the hurt fox backs up and the two look at one another.
Drew narrows his eyes at Ivy and fires an arrow at her, he is out of arrows and so he goes to quickly slice with his dagger in case the arrow missed.
Ivy gasps, the arrow slices across her side leaving a good slice with it, her eyes go large as the squirrel gets a slice in, that would have been worse had she not started to run, she trips over a tree root and falls into a creek, and hard as she starts to cry and hold her side, her other free paw looks swollen now. “No..Don’t..Please”
The fox with Ryiah rushes forwards to slice down at the squirrel and if need be finish it off.
Drew starts to aim for a death blow when a hot burning pain is in his right shoulder blade and he drops his dagger and screams in pain as the blade hits into bone and blood flows down his arm and onto the wooded ground, he drops to his knees and quickly holds his wounded shoulder, he has the knowledge to at least try and stop the blood flow and manages to slow it some.
Leon looks at Zork as if to ask what now, “The abbey isn’t too far away” He whispers.
Zork has started to head to the foxes and Drew, weapon drawn.
Ryiah quickly starts to rush to her daughter and narrow her eyes at the squirrel, her sidekick frowns and seeing the badger makes it worse as he drops his weapon “I surrender, we surrender. Ryiah will also, right Ryiah?” Ryiah finally nods, and lowers her longbow.
Drew spins around and looks ready to stab the vixen as she comes near him, “You surrender? Like I care you still die, all of you.” He sees Zork now and rolls his eyes,” Hey badger, shut these foxes up for me will ya?”
Ivy is hurt and that’s clear, she closes her eyes as if expecting the squirrel to finish her off.
Leon looks towards the scene and waits to make sure it’s safe to step out.
Zork nods to the foxes, and looks at Drew “They surrendered.” He looks in a knapsack for the few bandages and things he keeps with him, not much as it’s a very small first aid kit and goes to place a tight bandage on Drew shoulder, this will stop the blood till he gets to the abbey.
Drew glares as Zork, in his mind, seems to not care, he lets the badger help him and glares at the foxes.
Ryiah catches sight of Leon, she can tell he is an abbey healer and goes to grab him, if she manages she drags him over to her daughter, “Help her..now” Yeah she isn’t very polite about it and to make matters worse she steps back, yes she is making sure Drew behaves, she speaks “He helps her and if anyone moves, I don’t care which of you woodlanders, this arrow goes through his heart! Stay back and don’t move and he walks away and back to Redwall.”
Leon starts to struggle as he is dragged over to the injured Ivy and looks at the vixen, “I would help anyways you do—“ He frowns at the arrow, great that’s all he needs, sure save the kid and use your skills, gee how with an arrow aimed at you? He decides to pretend it’s not there and looks only at Ivy and using some of the fresh herbs and others in his pack he sets to work. He uses cayenne to slow and stop some of the bleeding, he then sews the wound on her side with skill and speed, he mutters a sorry for any pain he causes and makes sure each stitch is in place and the wound is soon sewed.
Zork gasps and tenses up but stays back, he watches the fox closely.
Drew on the other paw looks ready to kill some foxes and painfully starts to grip his blade and move forwards.
Zork places a paw on Drew’s uninjured shoulder, “You best not even think it, you want Leon dead?”
Drew narrows his eyes , “One beast, he is one beast these foxes are weak right now, one is dying and he helps them? Helps vermin?. It’s not right, so what if he dies, I will still get my revenge on these foxes.”
Zork now glares as he looks at Drew, “And if your foolishness leads to that, you will be the one to take him back to the abbey and explain to his mate and child why he is dead, and by ya self.”
Ivy whimpers as she is tended to, she still has a broken paw and some other small cuts and bruises on her, she is also close to passing out.
The other fox watches and stays close by.
Ryiah keeps a close eye on Drew and the others, her longbow still drawn and the arrow still there all she has to do is let go of the arrow.
Anomen has decided to come look for his father, his own weapons with him when he sees what’s before him and quickly slips behind a tree, he frowns and slowly, tree to tree, makes his way closer to the group.
Drew narrows his eyes, he looks at first to relax and then looks at the fox that’s with Ryiah and does wait, he uses his left paw and moving forwards he flicks the dagger, not as good an aim as his right paw is but good enough.
Ryiah sees this and she growls as the squirrel gets one very lucky shot in and the dagger hits the other fox in the neck and he falls over dead, she releases the arrow to send it flying at the mouse, he best move or else he will have an arrow in his back.
Anomen acts quickly and puts himself in danger at the same time as he quickly dives from where he was beside Leon and Ivy and goes to hopefully shove the mouse out of the arrows path
Leon finishes making a splint for Ivy and goes to tie it when he is roughly pushes to the side, the breath knocked out of him as he looks dazed and sees the arrow miss him by mere inches, some head fur is messed up and a small notch of his ear, the fall also makes a large tear in his robes, he manages to get out a ..”T..T..Thanks”
Zork eyes go wide, he is then relieved as Anomen is clearly in the right place at the right time and goes to grab Drew by the shirt collar “Wot in de season is wrong with you!!” He snarls some even.
Drew kicks at the badger, his shoulder pain forgotten for now and some blood threatens to seep through the bandage, “Un hand me you stripe dog!”
Ryiah snorts at the miss, she then goes to grab Anomen while he is distracted and place a dagger at his throat, “It’s poison..here is a new plan, my daughter is tended to at that abbey by him” She points to Leon and Zork, “The badger carries her, and you squirrel..you will pay for this somehow but understand this and understand now, if my daughter dies so does your son, am I clear? I will check on her tomorrow, till then your son remains unharmed and will be set free once I get good news, bad news and I make sure you watch your son die”
Leon frowns as he listens and slowly stands and looks over Ivy, he nods to Zork, “Go ahead and pick her up.” He glares at Drew,” You are coming back to the abbey as well Drew so move now.” Yes he is peeved off now. He nods to Ryiah, “Your daughter will be well cared for I will make sure of it.”
Drew gasps, “No..Anomen, my boy!”
Zork stays where he is and listens carefully, he also makes sure Drew doesn’t do anything stupid again and goes to pick up Ivy very carefully.
Anomen stays very still and looks at his father “I will be ok father, just go”
Ryiah nods “Best see that she doesn’t die. I will be at your abbey to check on her.” She takes Anomen off deeper into the woods.
*** So Leon, Zork, Drew and Ivy head to Redwall Abbey, Once there Zork had to tend to some other matters leaving just Drew, Ivy and one very peeved off Leon****
RW Abbey: Infirmary
Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.
Exits: Infirmary [Rec]overy Room, [H]ealer's [D]ormitory, [O]pen [G]round, [Hall]
Leon makes his way to the infirm, he is not in the best mood right now and leaves the others at the gates as he gets Ivy to a cot, nodding his thanks to a guard as he goes to get any other bandages he needs.
Drew follows and folds his arms over his chest "I would say I don't care that you have better healing items here, this is not right. The vixen needs hunted not allowed to do whatever she pleases." He adds some more basically not shutting up and making it very clear he is not supporting this idea, and the fox is here too, that’s a for sure blow to his mind.
Ivy still has some seeping blood on her arm, her side is still tightly bandaged but a small amount of blood shows, but doesn’t leak threw the bandage as she is tended to she makes a weak groan.
Leon glances at Drew for a brief moment before checking for other wounds, "You may want to get your shoulder tended to and you will not. I repeat NOT act this way in MY infirm. You caused all this to happen and you almost got me killed. So do not say what I should or should not be doing I am in no mood for it, do you understand me?" He speaks, clearly showing the fact he is a little peeved right now, his outdoor cloak torn in a couple places.
Drew just glares, his shoulder has the temporary bandage and its loose now as some blood starts to go down his arm, "My...my...that, That THINGS" He points to the fox, "Its mother has my boy, has Anomen. I want that issue deal with now!"
Ivy is in and out of a faint, so not like she cares if they argue, she tenses a little as she is tended to.
Into the infirmary rushes Nissaya, looking rather worried, but calming down when he notices Leon. "Leon, what happened?" He asks, still slightly concerned as he continues to take everything in, his eyes narrowing slightly as he notices Drew as well.
Leon shakes his head, He starts to say something to Drew and thinks better of it, he speaks to the white otter, "Do..help..him.." He says, as he has to speak slowly and the anger is clear in his voice as he finishes trying to help the fox maid.
Drew glares towards where the fox lies and the mouse, he hmmphs and sits on a cot, his shoulder is cut deep from a sword wound, maybe to the bone as the bandage did slow the bleeding a lot but some starts to leak threw just a little now, he has another wound that was tended to on his lower arm, bandaged and all and a couple small cuts on his chin, he shakes his head "Its blackmail..blackmail, she has my son, we need action! We need..." He frowns as maybe blood lose starts to get to him some now.
Ivy slips into a sort of faint, only time will tell if she will be ok or not.
Nissaya quickly moves over to Drew, inspecting the several wounds present on the squirrel, though mostly paying attention to his shoulder where the blood is leaking through. "Drew, I need you to lie down and relax so I can help you, alright?" He requests rather warmly with a smile, trying to be polite.
Leon finishes tending to the fox frowning as they pass out, he folds his arms over his chest after taking off his torn cloak and walks over to where Drew is. "Do as he says Drew." The voice a bit commanding tone, he has yet to sit down his gathered herbs but does have the pack open if some are needed.
Drew looks ready to go off arguing again but one look at the Master Healer and he lies down slowly, the shoulder pain just now being felt, still he gets his say in "I still say the fox shouldn't be here. I don’t CARE..what Ryiah said"
Nissaya simply sighs as he sets to work, applying a styptic to help the bleeding as well as getting a fresh bit of bandages. "Leon, do we have any valerian tea? If anything, we can use that to bring his pain down a bit and decrease his sensitivity."
Leon shakes his head, "There is some roots, we are a little low but can get some" His tone of voice a little better now, but it doesn't mean he isn't still upset. He walks to the cabinets and gets a little to mix in water." Your shoulder is very badly hurt Drew and as much as you want to your not going back out after anyone." He then brings the mixture to Nissaya.
Drew tenses up in some pain, he glares some "I will do what I WANT. Someone needs to go back out THERE!.." He frowns as when he starts to try and get up pain shoots all the way down his arm and he shuts his eyes tightly. He speaks, his voice a little softer. “My, my son is out there. He needs help."
Nissaya tugs the bandage just a bit, seemingly to tighten it a bit more, though even that small movement will send another jolt of pain through Drew's arm. "You will be staying right here, Drew." Looking at Leon, he asks, "Leon, can you give him that? I'm slightly busy trying to bandage his shoulder."
Leon goes to find one more think, a little mint, mainly for flavor, to add to the mix and goes to offer it to Drew, it's up to him whether he takes it or not, "Yes he will end up having to stay in the infirm for a while, if he goes out the wound could reopen and that is something you don't want."
Drew takes the mixture and coughs, he has a frown on his face and all sense of yelling has calmed as it seems he used most of his energy for that purpose. "I..I can't stay here..my son and..it's not safe here" Or in his mind it's not at least.
Nissaya narrows his eyes, a slight bit of irritation showing. "Drew, I want you to listen well and good. You are /not/ leaving this infirmary until your shoulder heals. In that time, Leon and I will be making sure you stay here, and if you try to leave, we will make sure you fail, so do us all a favor and trust your son to know what he's doing. He didn't become an abbey guard by lounging about doing nothing."
Leon nods "This is correct, I am sure Anomen will be fine, there are those here that can go out if needed." He sighs and gets to the point, "If you go back out, your die. You won't survive a fight, I am not sure you would survive looking for the vixen even, let alone fighting"
Drew looks between them, it's unclear whether he is truly listening or not, he looks at the fox that’s in a nearby cot and hate shows, "Does she HAVE to be here, that vixen's child has no right to be here, only woodlanders should be healed and tended to here." His voice is slightly weak now, he did lose a good amount of blood in the fight, he is not bleeding now so that’s good but, still there is a lot of pain.
Nissaya looks ready to hit the squirrel, but he holds himself back. "She is under our protection, and it is not your decision who is healed and tended to here. We could just as easily be saying you shouldn't be treated here, but we're not, so have the courtesy to at least tolerate her presence."
Leon takes a deep breath, mentally counting to 10 and exhales, "She will be tended to as well, she will not be harmed."
Drew glares, he doesn't have much else to say as sleep looks to want to overtake him, rest may or may not help him but least he will be quiet as he sleeps.
Nissaya straightens up, sighing. "He's going to be a pawful, I can tell..."
Leon nods "Yes he is, he is reckless and foolish also, he will need keep an eye on"
Nissaya looks down at his bloodstained paws. "I agree...I don't want to hurt him, but we need to keep him here."
Leon nods, he sighs and looks in his pack, he takes out some herbs to dry for later use, “So far this day has not been enjoyable"
Nissaya shakes his head slowly, going to wash his paws. “I’m not even going to ask what happened at this point.."
Leon shakes his head, "Let’s just say it could of been worse. There almost was a death, luckily there wasn't. "He frowns " Now..there was a couple foxes but they were dead before I came upon the area and the only injured ones were the fox here and Drew, and I had tended to the fox a little before we headed back here."
Nissaya shrugs as he washes his paws. "Again, I don't want to hear about it lest I develop a biased opinion about the matter. Besides, pleasantries are usually best left in the past."
Leon nods and offers a weak smile "Yes, they are. But the main focus is making sure Drew and the fox maid are ok, I am unsure how the fox maid will react to being here yet. We will see I guess when she wakes up"
Nissaya nods in agreement. "I suppose so. I just hope she doesn't react poorly."
Leon says, "Me as well, I will need to speak with Benar and Flicktail on what happen, other than that we can leave these two to get some rest and heal"
- Later that day***
Benar is standing on the first floor platform underneath the bells, smiling up at them contentedly as the spring sunshine shines in through an outside window
Leon walks in and looks glad Benar is on the first platform and not way up in that belfry, he walks over "Ello Benar"
Benar glances over at Leon and smiles "ah Leon hello, have you heard them ringing? It is so good to have them up again.."
Leon nods and smiles "I have, yes..I was looking for you and someone said you were in here." He looks up but quickly looks back to Benar.
Benar asks, "Ok" He turns around from looking up and folds his arms inside his sleeves, "How can I help Leon?"
Leon sighs, "First, if anyone mentioned any grumpiness earlier I am sorry, 2nd Drew is back but he is injured which brings up one other issue."
Benar says, "No one has said anything at all about you Leon, you know I trust you and respect your opinion. And Drew? Hmm that is unexpected."
Leon nods "Drew has been asked to leave the day before the feast due to punching Wilks and..." He frowns, "He did punch me also, when I tried to stop him and Wilks from arguing, Anomen had him leave then. I was out collecting some herbs in the woods when came upon Drew fighting this Vixen and two others....two foxes were dead, anyways he was injured, and the vixen and the other had decided to give up, there was another that was still alive, a younger one and I was spotted basically told to help which Drew seemed totally against"
Leon goes on, "I did help the child best could, she was the vixens daughter...what I didn’t enjoy was having an arrow aimed at me by the vixen, Drew was told if he tried to fight again she fire it...I was almost done with helping the child when Drew decides to lunge at the vixen so she fired her arrow, luckily Anomen was around or well,...anyways she seems to know Drew, long story short she has Anomen and told Drew if her daughter dies, his son dies and it’s her daughter that’s in the infirm and Drew seems to feel the child should be taken out, it upset me..Drew’s attitude is just, well not sure..so Drew and whomever this fox's daughter is , is in the infirm"
Benar frowns as he hears the story and sighs, "I see... this matter is most disturbing. Drew...." He sighs, "The child will not be made to leave... I think this may be something Lorimis must rule on..." He taps his foot on the door, thinking, looking off and then up at the bells. "Very well, I think this matter is the Abbot's not mine. On Thursday please tell Drew and all involved to report to the Great Hall at 1pm on Thursday. Though... if his attitude is as such I very much fear the Abbot may withdraw the Hospitality of the Abbey from him."
Leon nods "Alright, I will see what I can do then, hopefully it goes well"
Benar says, "I hope so.. but I must admit my own opinion would be to withdraw the Hospitality of Redwall from Drew his actions are not in keeping with the Order.""
Leon shakes his head "No, they are not, he has basically said any vermin speces on the road he will kill, and I know he hates Flicktail, he said cause he is a fox. I do not know what he and this vixen have against one another, it’s hard to say...what of the child in the infirm, should I keep Drew away from her somehow, in case he tries to harm her, which he was warned not to yet he don’t seem to listen well"
Benar says, "I would move her to the Badger Father's Quarter. Oz won't mind, she can rest and recover there and Drew won't know where to find her then..." He shakes his head, "I'd say throw him out now but it is Lorimis' call to make not mine""
Leon nods "That may be the best idea and I can still tend to her there"
- After this Ivy is moved, Leon makes sure she is ok and then takes the rest of the day and the next day off***
