Dirt Road

Characters involved: Samir & Ande

Samir Is out and about the road again, walking about on his hand paws for the first time in a while. The Squirrel, after a few moments, sits down on the side of the road with a quiet yawn.

His butt must be getting cold in all that snow! Ande is coming down the road and, if you can believe it, he's wearing all new clothing and a warm cloak. He's also carrying a flask. Flasky!'

Samir isn't really that cold. The Squirrel glances up. "Well look at you....New clothes...who'd you rob?" he asks with a laugh. "Bad joke..."

"I paid! Paid fer it!" is Ande's gleeful reply as he turns toward Samir. He ambles over, catching Samir up in a big hug. Like a big playful dog. He swings the squirrel 'round before depositing him once more on the earth. "Got me a job! A job!"

Samir almost screams as he's lifted up and swung around. "Ooookay..put me down!" he says as he's set down. "Werido" he mutters super quietly before hming. "What kind of Job?" He asks

Ande stills, at the question, suddenly realizing. "Ya won't like it."

Samir Frowns. "What is it?" He asks, still frowning. "Not like I control you" he says

"M'gonna be workin' fer some vermin..." He mumbles something, mostly inaudible, "Migh'... some... slaves... fortress." The gist of it's there. Heh. He then brightens. "But they're payin' me four hunn'ed gold every two WEEKS!"

Samir Hms a bit. "Slaver..." he whispers quietly before dropping his jaw. "F-F-Four Hundred gold....?" he asks

Ande nods! "C'n you /believe/ tha'? I ain't never had more'n a coupla gold m'whole life... an' now I've got, well!" And he pulls out a pouch, still fairly heavy with gold. "Just look!" He tosses it to Samir.

Samir catches it and looks into it before jaw dropping again. "Are...Are...so....Your going to be a slaver?" he asks

"I'll do anythin' they tell me to do for /that/ much," Ande replies frankly.

Samir sighs softly. "So...I take it you'll be going with them where ever they go?" He asks, handing the pouch back over.

"You could come with me," Ande replies carefully.

Samir uhs and hms. "I dont really think they'd let me..." he says. "Besides, I'm not sure I'd want to get into being evil...or slaving..."

You say, "You wouldn't have t'be a slaver..."

Samir hms. "Then what would i do?" he ask. "Be a slave? haha! funny"

"Guess bein' with me wouldn't be worth it, huh?" Ande is looking at Sam carefully.

Samir looks at Ande. "There's no place I'd rather be than with you...I didn't tattoo you on my back to say that i wanted to be just your friend" he smirks. "But...I'm just not sure if i want to be treated as a slave"

"What if I'm the one mindin' you?" Ande's muzzle twitches. Small frown. "Wouldn't let no one else touch ya. I made sure you'd be /mine/, not anyone else's."

You say, "An' I chose the fortress so's ya wouldn't have t'be an oresbeast. S'a miserable job."

Samir ums a bit more and frowns somewhat. "I..really dont know"

Ande's muzzle twitches again. 'Nother frown. "What if I decided not to give ya a choice? What then?"

Samir frowns and takes a step back. "I doubt you'd catch me..." he says, before sighing. "Look, I just really dont know about it is all..."

"Well, you've got 'til I leave. Which is..." Uh. Ande glances back towards the Gull. "I dunno when."

Samir thinks it over before sighing. "Fine...I'll go with you...only because....I really...really like you" he says

Ande snakes his paw out, holding it out close to Samir's. "I won't let nothin' happen to ya."

Samir looks to ande and sighs before taking it. "You'd better..." he says.

Ande gives the paw a squeeze. Grins. "You'll be the richest slave ever, at least."

Samir sighs. "We'd better become more than just friends, or I'll change my mind about the going" he smirks with a chuckle

Ande pulls Samir's paw forward and down, bringing the squirrel forward. He kisses him on the corner of the mouth. "Like I'd give ya a choice," he teases.

Samir hms and smiles very softly before closing his eyes. "Sounds good" he chuckles.

Ande stands back. "Okay. When d'ya wanna start? Like fer practice?"

Samir tilts his head. "What do you mean?

Ande shrugs. "Well, you ever been a slave before? 'Cause I ain't ever been a slaver."

Samir nods. "If it helps I was one once...long ago..." he says before shrugging. "Its easy...capture a slave, hit them a few times, Deliver em to The beasts who...take care...of them"

"Do ya have to hit 'em?" Ande seems very curious about all this.

Samir nods. "If you want to fit in yes...No vermin likes a beast soft on slaves"

"What if I just pretended to hit them?" Ande queries.

Samir Shakes head. "Wont work..." He replies. "Hitting beasts normally leaves marks"

Ande's nose wrinkles. "Well, I guess I c'n hit them."

Samir nods. "You'd have to..." he replies with a sigh

"I don't mind hittin' beasts if they annoy me. Maybe they'll be annoyin'," Ande muses.

You ask, "Will I have t'hit you, then?"

Samir shrugs. "Probably...If i follow you around"

Ande hms. "I'll hit gently," he offers.

Samir shrugs. "I'd rather it look real then either of us dying..hit as hard as you have to...If you were found out about actually caring about what happens to me, you'd probably get killed and me put into actual slavery"

Ande tilts his head to the side. "I don't know. What's wrong with usin' a slave however you want to? Isn't that a vermin thing t'do?"

Samir nods. "Yeah...I suppose" he replies, thinking about it

Ande hms. "Well, I guess we'll see."

Samir nods. "So when are we leaving anyways?" He asks.

Ande shrugs, looking unsure. "I dunno. Rat didn't say."

Samir Shrugs. "Should we head to the Tavern and see if he's there? Err...that is where you met him right?"

Ande nods. "Yeah, it is. Sure, we could do tha'." Pause. "'Course, you're not chained up..." Hm.

Samir Hms. "Yeah...Hm...Hold on" he says before heading off down the road. "I'll be back in a sec"

Ande nods. "Kay."

Samir comes back about ten minutes later, Carrying some Heavy looking Chains. "holy moly these chains are heavy" He drops them on the ground. "And I agreed to be your slave..I'm insane"

Ande looks at the chain with piqued amusement. "How d'ya put 'em on?"

Samir locks some cuffs on his wrists, Ankles and a Very heavy metal collar around his neck. "I dont know why I kept these" he mumbles to himself.

Ande eyes the metal collar. "Hm. Ya look..." Hm. Head-tilt. "Looks good." Odd ferret! "Okay."

Samir uhs a bit. "looks...good?" he asks. "I can hardly breath in this collar...Other than that, I'd laugh" he smirks a bit. "Ah well..thanks i suppose..."

Ande smirks. "Well. I'll get somethin' better made for ya. You'll see."

Samir smiles. "Would be nice.." he hands the lead over. "alright...lets get to the tavern for now and see when to go"

Ande takes the lead, turning it this way and that in his paw. He nods. Turns. Starts to walk. "Kay," he nearly chirps. He keeps his pace slow enough not to pull on Samir's neck.

Samir starts to walk as well. "So um..I'm almost scared to actually be doing this..." he says

Ande glances back at Samir, brow crinkling. "I wouldn't hurt you, ya know that, right?"

Samir nods. "Its not you I'm scared of" he replies.

Ande 'ohs' silently, then just continues on in silence.

Samir sighs quietly. "You know, If I really didn't like you I'd not be doing this" he smirks. "You Owe me"

Ande smirks back. "Aw, I'll buy you pretty shiney things with all the coin I'll be makin'."

Samir chuckles. "You better" he hms, pulling something from his pocket. The squirrel dabs on some of that Strong...perfume? "Aw rats...I have nothing left" he frowns, after having just used up the last of the bottle. "And I doubt vermin would have any..." sigh.

Ande glances back. "I'll getcha s'more, if ya want."

Samir looks up. "Um..where?" he asks, stowing the bottle in his vest again.

Ande shrugs. "I dunno. Where'd ya get it?"

Samir thinks. "Was Far south I believe" he replies.

Ande hums. Shrugs again. "I dunno, then... But I would if I could." He pauses, then, fishing out his coin pouch again. He tosses it to Samir, then. "Here. You c'n have this."

Samir catches it before thinking. "Um..why?" he asks. "Not that I'm not greatful but I dont think i have a use for it" he says. "Besides its yours"

Ande shrugs. "Maybe do somethin' fun 'fore you get all. Enslaved."

Samir ums and nods with a small smile. "Thank you" he says, tying the pouch to his belt.

Ande grins, leaning into Samir's shoulder a bit. Nudge. "S'okay."

Samir smiles softly. "So...to the tavern then? Since we're walking rather slow" He smirks

Ande nods. "Yeah. Let's go." And he picks up the pace, heading onward.

The Black Gull - Entry

The tavern's vestibule is small, serving only the purpose of separating the heavy outer door from a pair of swinging doors leading into the tavern commons. The lamplight in the entry is brighter than in the tavern itself, allowing you to see in but also to be seen by those inside.

Inside, you see Jewel.

There is a 'SIGN' to the right of the main entrance.

Exits: [O]ut to the [R]oad, [Enter] the Black Gull

Samir has arrived.

You push the door open and enter the tavern.

The Black Gull - Tavern

An ever present combination of smells greets any new arrival upon entering the Gull. Various ales and grogs, rums and wines; of course, the scents and aromas of liquors would be there. It's a tavern. But along with those airs, the underlying odor of unwashed bodies and unclean boots can be detected. It is this joining of scents that gives the Gull a very well-loved and oft' visited personality.

That, and the state of the inner commons, as well.

The scuffed floorboards beneath ones footpaws will guide anybeasts' eyes to the simplistic layout that the Gull was designed in. The east wall opens, narrowly, its mouth for a well-lit vestibule to settle uncomfortably. Light, both from the outside, and the two lanterns hung there, casts a revealing glow upon the entrants, giving the patrons within a rather decent visual. Slipping further into the Gull, the light grows dimmer, and far less frequent. With no windows to the outdoors, the tavern is held in the palm of eternal dusk.
Across from the entrance, the bar has been placed upon a, slightly, raised platform. Being open on either end, it's not uncommon to see the tavern's wenches and 'tenders hustling about, passing one another as they go about their duties. Reflecting, poorly, the goings on about the bar is a large, dusty old mirror. A few beasts have traced various crude pictures in the gathered dust around the border, but for the most part the mirror (the middle of it, at least) remains clear. Cracks of time and stains from thrown drinks stripe the looking glass in a few places. Various racks and shelves with bottles, labeled and not, settle on either side of this mirror above casks. Two doors, abused and slightly battered, rest behind the bar; One faces the west and to the barn and paddock, while the other, North-facing, gives way to the kitchens. To the south is a platform consisting of drenched, copper-brown wood (mainly from spilled blood, one might assume).
With the season changing once again, the open hearth nestled against the northern wall, along with a staircase, has roared back into life. A steady fire can almost always be seen and heard crackling lazily over dead wood. A few run-down garlands are strung about the mantle; somebeast's attempt at making the Gull a little more festive, perhaps.

Exits: [Ki]tchen, [O]ut the [B]ack [D]oor, [O]ut to the [D]irt [R]oad, [U]pstairs

Samir nods and walks until they enter the Tavern. He Tripped up a few times, thanks to the new chains but other than that, he seems to not care that they are on. "Lets get a corner seat" he says quietly.

Ande leads Samir inside, a paw held loosely around a chain lead. His eyes dart around the tavern quietly, then he directs them to a corner booth indeed. He nods to the bench seat opposite, sliding into the other.

Samir Slides in and sighs quietly. "So. Go check at the bar and see if the rat has gone yet" he says, looking around cautiously

Ande nods a bit. Stands. Sets down the lead chain. "Don't go no where," he grunts out - for show. Ahem. He then slinks over toward the bar, speaking quietly to the bartender. Orders drinks, too.

The squirrel sits where he is, not going anywhere. The Barkeep Quietly Asks if this is The Ande that the rat had asked for a map to be given to. Yep...hands over a map, and a few moments later, the drinks.

Ande takes the map and the drinks, then heads back to the booth. He slides back in, setting both on the table between them. "Handed me this," he mutters.

Samir looks over and goes to take the map before looking it over. "looks like a map to where the Pirate ship is..." he says, going over it.

Ande eyes the map, eyebrow raising curiously. "Trustful beast t'go 'n' pay me without knowing if I'd come or not."

Samir chuckles. "I dont think You'd get one payment of coins, and then keep them all your life..you'd want more...follow him for more" he smirks. "Well, I know the area, and i know a shortcut so we should be there inside of an hour I guess..." he says.

Ande thinks about this. "Let's wait 'til tomorrow."

Samir nods. "Works for me" he says with a quiet yawn, slowly rolling the map back up and setting it on the table

Ande takes the map, depositing it in an inside pocket. He stands, picking up the chain lead. "Upstairs," he mutters. And starts that way.

Samir nods, and follows like a good widdle slave, trying to look as sad as possible

And up the stairs they go!
