Characters involved: Taye & Terrance.

Salamandastron: Caverns - Archery Range

During his downtime Taye is - of all things - training. After all, he's got a patrol in a couple of days. Got to be in tip-top condition. He stands at the end of one of the long ranges, bow held with bow string pulled back, and an arrow held between two knuckles. His eyes narrowing, he takes aim and releases. The arrow flies straight and thocks into the target, hitting in the first ring from center. Squint. "Hm."

Apparently Taye isn't the only one who's training in his time off. Terrance pokes his head in after he hears the thunk to see who's shooting. "Allo there Taye" the recruit greets as he starts to make his way towards there. Some cloth is still wrapped around his paws suggesting that he's probably been in the boxing cavern. "Nice shot."

Taye's ears swivel around in Terrance's direction even as he leans over to pluck up another arrow, and when he straightens he turns, doffing an imaginary hat to the other buck. "Thanks," he replies, then turns towards the target again. "Been boxin'?" He sets the arrow on the string.

Terrance glances towards his wrapped paws and nods, "Aye. Getting ready for tha fight tomorrah night." He starts to unwrap the gauze after stopping a few feet away. "I think I'll actually be able ta take Tom on now, just as long as I don't let 'im land any hits."

Taye grins at the provision added to the end of that statement, and shakes his head. "I bet you'll kick 'is arse..." The string is pulled back, he holds his breath, and off it goes. Thock! Same distance from the center, opposite side. Squint.

Terrance smiles and says, "Well thanks for tha vote o' confidence chap." He then stays silent while the other hare shoots and hms. "So we going ta allow kicking in tha fight or just keep ta boxin'?"

Taye tilts his head juuust slightly, considering. He looks at Terrance, scrunching his face up in indecision. "... Weeell. D'ya figure they'll actually play by the rules if we set 'em?"

Terrance snorts a little at that and says, "Good point." He hrms and thinks on that, "They'd probably start cheatin' once we started ta beat 'em"

Taye's shoulders jerk, shruggingly but uncertainly. "So we don't set any rules, so we c'n take advantage of the cheatin' too." He grabs another arrow, looking hesitant. "Whatcha think? Too risky?"

Terrance shakes his head after thinking on it a bit. "No, I think yer right. Probably just have anythin' goes."

Taye sets the tip of his bow to the ground. "Only rule I think we've got t' make is no weapons - nothin'. Don't think we oughta even let anyone in with 'em. We don't want things t' get... y'know. Outta hand or nothin'."

Terrance nods readily at that, "Well yeah, I figured that was a given. Just want ta bruise 'em up a bit in front o' everyone, not injure them permanently or anythin' like that."

Taye glances at Terrance. "Well, I wasn't s'much worried about what we'd do s'much as /them/..." And their friends if Terr and Taye won, as well.

Terrance nods, "Aye, true enough chap." He then chuckles, "Didn't really think about 'is friends. Kind o' thought that if we cut off the heads o' tha two top dogs o' the bunch that the rest of 'em would be too afraid ta mess with us."

Taye wrinkles his nose at the thought of being jumped by a whole group of thugs after the match. "Well... mayhaps they'll leave off. 'Sides, everyone'll be here. They couldn't without a whole bunch of folks jumpin' them in return." Assuming they have that good of friends. XD

Terrance nods and chuckles, "Yeah, either way I don't think we'll 'ave ta worry about Tom's buds. I'm sure there would be plenty o' othah beasts willin' ta pitch in ta keep them from doin' much harm if they do start somethin'. We're not tha only one's who Tom and company 'ave picked on."

At that, and with a nod, Taye picks up his bow and another arrow, and turns back to the range. "Aye, well." Off the arrow goes. "True 'nough." Thock! Bullseye. He grins. "We're gonna win." Because the runts train their butts off to make up for being runts. XD

Terrance chuckles and looks at the arrow as it's shot off and nods, "If that's an indicator at least" the recruit says with a grin. "So how have yer runnah duties been goin'?"

Taye finally slings the bow over his shoulder, apparently done for the evening. He turns, breathing in deeply. "Well, I've got a patrol I'm goin' on in a coupla days..."

Terrance smiles at that, "Really? That's great chap."

Taye scratches at an ear, looking slightly self-conscious. "Yeah, well... I'm lookin' forward to it. Majah Darklett asked me. We're going to get one o' the Bloodthirstahs that's still terrorizin' the area."

Terrance shakes his head, "Sounds like yer goin' ta be gettin' some more action then. Lucky."

Taye grins a tad nervously. "Yeah, well... we'll see how I fair. I'm just lookin' forward to beatin' Flatpaw in case I get trounced durin' the patrol."

Terrance rolls his eyes, "Come on chap. You survived the Halyard campaign fair enough and there was a whole horde o' tha blighters."

That doesn't necessarily make him feel better. The ear he scratches droops, and he turns, taking a step towards the door. He looks at Terrance, though, to indicate that they should walk together. "Yeah, well. I just hope it's nothin' like that, Terr." He shakes his head. "So... how're classes goin'? I kinda miss them."

Terrance starts to walk along with Taye and shrugs, "Eh, they're going. My strategies class is rathah boring. Then o' course I still get tossed around quite a bit in unarmed combat class but it's startin' ta hurt less at tha least."

Taye chuckles, looking to the side at the other buck. "Yeah, well... that's mostly just gettin' used to it, I think. Thickah skins 'n' thickah skulls, that's what we get outta the Patrol." He smiles, looking back down at the ground.

Terrance smirks and chuckles a little, "Yeah, I suppose so." He glances around a bit as they walk along. "So what weapon's have ya been given anyhow?"

Taye shrugs, patting his bow. "Well, m' trusty bow... 'course." Since he was just using it. "Othah than that I just use m' daggahs. Gotta pack 's light as ya can as a runnah." He looks sideways at Terr, pausing at the door. "Guess you'll get all the weaponry 'n' such, though. Bein' a fightah 'n' all."

Terrance stops along with Taye and nods, "Aye, suppose so. Although from what I've heard, I wont get anythin' until I'm commissioned. I'm a little bummed about that. Although truth be told, I don't really know what weapon I'd prefer anyhow."

Taye grins appreciatively. He completely understands that plight. "Yeah... honestly I'm not any good with weapons. The whole daggah thing's just the default. Couldn't decide on nothin' else." With a snort, he moves to hold the door open for Terrance. "Aftah you."

Terrance chuckles and walks on through, "Thanks chap."

Salamandastron: Caverns

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

These are the deepest, most catacomb-like passages and caverns, the ones that

go into the the bowels of the mountain. These cold dark caverns are sparsely

lit and contain several dead-end passages. Few hares frequent here. This

area is the most catacomb-like not only because of its physical appearance,

but also because some of the caverns which the passages lead to serve as tombs

for slain comrades. Several of the passages lead off to holding cells for

captured prisoners.

Terrance grins and nods, "Aye, suppose so. See ya tomorrah night if not before then, eh wot."

Taye nods and then walks a few steps on before he stops, turning back with a cheeky salute. "Night, chap." The salute becomes a wave and, grinning, he turns and continues over to the stairs and up.
