Characters involved: Terrance, Miyrr, & Taye.
Salamandastron: Corridor to Dormitories
Terrance quirks a brow at her reaction at first then rolls his eyes as he gets an idea, "Blech. Sorry I asked" he says, scrunching up his nose as he does.
Miyrr chuckles, "Ah don't worry about it." she says with a big grin on her muzzle. She twists slightly to stretch her back some.
Terrance scratches at the spot on his right arm that keeps getting hit as he thinks it over some more, shivering a little bit at the thought of that mushy stuff. "Anywho. So was it excitin' to go on an actually mission?"
Miyrr squinches her forhead a little, "Well the frist part was rather boring, marching standing listening to the vermin and our leader talking. Once the rescue mission failed we were all rounded it and put in the tavern. That's when things got....interesting."
The buck's ears perks up as she talks about it, chuckling a little at the first part. "Really? Hm. Well guess the patrol isn't all fun all the time." he says with a shrug. "Still though, I can't wait until I'm ready ta go on a mission myself." The buck does make a point not to ask about the rest of the mission though.
Miyrr smiles at the lad, "Yeah I guess they can't all be exciting. It...was hard but you know, I made it out and they saved alot of townfolk. That's what matters." she says hopeing to keep up the bucks spirits about his training and to convince herself as well.
Bursting out of the recruits' dorm hallway at a jog, Taye looks rather... late for something or other. So late, in fact, that he doesn't notice Miyrr and Terrance until he's practrically passing them. But at the sight of Miyrr as he jogs past, his ears perk and a few steps past them, he slows, slows... slows, until he's walking, and then he's stopped. Ears twitching, he turns around and grins, a bit sheepishly. "... 'Llo." He nods to Terrance, as well.
Terrance smiles and nods, "Aye, that it does. I'm sure those beasts ya helped saved are real thankful 'n' all." the buck then lets out a pretty good sized yawn. Rubbing at his eyes a bit he starts to say something and then Taye bursts in. "Allo there chap. In a bit of a rush there?" At noticing the sheepish grin, the young buck rolls his eyes a little.
Miyrr nods and smiles wide when she sees Taye run past...and stop to speak with the both of them. "Evenin' Taye." she says with a gleam in her eye. She turns to Terrance, "I'm sure they are at that. I know I was."
Taye ambles back over to the two, shoving his paws in his pockets as he nears. "... Yeah, I was s'posed t' have pots duty aftah dinnah, but I kinda..." He hesitates, giving an embarrassed rub to the back of his neck. "Fell asleep."
Terrance ugs for no obvious reason and then nods at miyrr's comments. Taye's situation though brings a chuckle and a smile out though. "Well a little too late now chap. Bettah hope the cook's didn't notice eh?" Once again a yawn overtakes him. "Speaking of sleep I'm goin' ta head to bed while my muscles can still take me. Night you two." He then starts to make his way towards his room, scrunching his nose all the sudden and muttering something about, "mushy junk."
Miyrr smiles thoughtfully at Taye, "Ya, that cook will serve you for suppah tomarrow night if your not careful." she says chuckling at Terrances comment as he leaves. "i was just heading down there myself. I didn't make dinner either." she says sighing.
Taye shyly extends his paw out to Miyrr, with a smile. "I'll escort ya down there, if ya like."
Miyrr takes his paw into hers, "Ah, thank you much Taye, that would be nice." she says looking up into his eyes. She starts walking and although she still seems stiff she is a little less so as she moves.
Besides, Taye's making sure to move at the pace that she picks. He's also making sure to stare at the ground while they walk along paw-in-paw. Still the same old bashful Taye. "Y'know... I could fashion ya walkin' stick if ya think it'd help ya."
Miyrr rubs at her bad eye with her free paw, "Ya know that could help but I want to get these muscles moving rightly so as soon as I can." she says. She knows she's overdoing it. Stubborn doe...
Taye sends a flickering glance to the side at the doe, and can't help the small smile that graces his features. Eye patch or not, he still seems rather taken with her. Just as quickly as he looks, though, he returns his gaze to the floor. "Well... y'know. I'm always around if'n ya need help."
Miyrr squeezes his paw gently, "I know and that means so much to me." One of these days she needs to get up the courage to tell him the truth about what kept her going at the tavern. Not yet though it'd be too much. She sighs to herself happily.
At the happy sigh, Taye casts another look her way, but... this time the look is uncertain. He looks like he wants to say something. Eventually, he looks back down, and quietly clears his throat. "Ah... y'know, Miyrr? I..." He walks along silently for a few seconds. "I, ah... I got permission from Majah Jarril t' go, um. T' go on the next mission t' Halyard." He stares fiercely down at the ground, waiting for her reaction.
Miyrr takes a deep breath at that news. She looks away from him for a moment then stops to turn to face him fully. "I can't say I'm surprised. But, we're both part of the patrol and part of being so is that we sometimes have to do dangerous missions. I know that more then ever now. Keep your head about you and do your job as ya need to. I imagine that if I'm fit enough in time they'll send me again as well." she says smiling at him attempting to hide some of the fear at the thought of being int he hands of those vermin once more.
Taye's suddenly looks shocked and rather horrified. "... No! Miyrr, they wouldn't send ya again! They can't!" Still having hold of her paw, he gives it an impulsive squeeze, which is meant to be reassuring but which is more for his own sake than hers. "I mean... we're goin' in t' /fight/... They wouldn't send ya, they jus' couldn't. I - I won't let ya go, anyway." He shakes his head firmly.
Miyrr puts her paw gently up to Tayes mouth, "Shhh hun, it's ok. You're probably right and I still have a lot of training to finish up before my own tests." she says to him in soft tones. She removes her paw from his mouth and puts in on his shoulder instead. She is still smiling and pondering his words as well.
Taye was about to say more when the paw touches to his lips. He is immediately silence and his ears droop - not from sadness, though. Heh. Slowly, he nods, and when the paw is removed and placed on his shoulder, he follows its course with his eyes, until finally he looks across at her. He grins weakly. "... I'm all righ', now. I just couldn't stand... y'know. The thought o' losin' ya again." Awkward/bashful feet shuffle... thing.
Miyrr nods, "I know, all I could think about was you while I was there." Gah, she said it... He is cute when he blushes though. "The one thing my paw taught me was ta face things head on and When you go I'll worry too. When you come back though...I'll be here." Gah, she's running at the mouth tonight. Miyrr looks down at her own feet. "You mean alot to me Taye."
Shuffle-shuffle. The tips of his ears are a predictably bright shade of red, but he forces himself not to look down at the ground, again. In fact, he impulsively steps forward, quick as lightning, and kisses her... dun-dun-dun, on the cheek. Of course. XD He's no Casanova. The buck scurries back a step and his blush deepens anew. He quickly turns to look down the hall, his ears a-twitter. "So, ah... Guess we should get down t' the dinin' room, then." Hee. Smoooooth transition, Taye. So smooth.
Startled at first Miyrr has to fight not to pull back as the buck makes a bolder move. He kissed her. He really kissed her. Her ears lower and her eyes close part way. Not too fast girl. Slow or he'll spook. She takes hold of his arm a little closer now and with a smile she responds to him, "Yes, I should eat something so I can keep up my strength." Deep inside there's a part of her that is cheering and dancing about like a dibbun.
... Whew. Inwardly, Taye's going cuh-raaaazy with the confusing happiness thing, but outwardly he's pretty calm... save for those twitching ears. His paws are shoved in his pocket, because they can still have arms linked while he's doing this, and he begins walking down the hall again, keeping a slow pace as he grins over at her. "I'd recommend lotsa scones." When they reach the door leading to the level two opening, he steps ahead and holds it open for her.
"Scones are good." she says nodding to him. Awkwardness isn't just Taye's forte it seems. She waits for him to open the door. "Thank you." she say as she walks on through. Maybe it's the emotions or maybe it was her feeling sorry for herself but her gait seems a bit more of a lilt to it. She walks through the door and waits for him to follow.
