Characters involved: Audri & Taye

Salamandastron: Crater

Grey skies lie overhead, bringing with them a light drizzle which is falling on the lone figure up in the crater. Audri rests against the edge of the crater, her arms hanging over the edge while she stares off down the beach.

Not the lone figure anymore, as Taye steps out onto the crater. He winces only slightly as the first drops of rain hit him but he doesn't jerk back under cover. Instead, he continues forward, looking towards the sea where a distant storm can be seen brewing, occasional lightning bursts illuminating the clouds. It's only as he approaches the crater's edge that he comes to notice Audri. He blinks, surprised to find anyone else out here in the rain. "... 'Llo."

Audri trembles when a thunder clap fills the sky, ears slicking back against her head. She flicks her tail again which is started to become drenched from the rain. Audri takes a quick glance over her shoulder, nodding to Taye before looking back to the beach. "Hey Taye. How'd the talk with Major Jarril go?"

Taye drops down to sit beside Audri, and at the trembling, whether from fear or cold, he removes his over-tunic and drapes it over her shoulders with a faint grin. But despite the grin, he looks rather... pensive. "He gave me permission t' go. I have t' back that up with permission from Da', he said." In not so many words, anyway.

Audri pulls the tunic closer, a smile gracing her muzzle. "Thanks." She mumbles, resting her head back on her arms. Audri listens quietly, ears giving a thoughtful twitch before she nods. "That's good. I'm sure the Major will let ya go. Just want ya to be careful 'n all."

Taye nods in agreement and turns his head very slightly in preparation to respond when a sudden and simply huge lightning bolt strikes in the near-distance. It lights the whole crater brilliantly, whereas the following and rather deafening thunder-strike causes the young buck to jerk in surprise. Mrph.

Audri squeaks in alarm when the thunder strikes, curling up into a wet ball of fur with more trembles.

Getting over his own shock, Taye quickly notices Audri's own. Scooching closer to the wet ball o' fur, he tucks an arm around her and also re-situates his tunic on her shoulders. "'Tis just a bit o' a storm... Look, Audri, it's still far off, even." He points in the direction where most of the lightning is striking.

Audri's trembles fade as the young buck scoots closer, slowly uncurling herself. She looks off to where he is pointing, nodding. "I know. Just don't like the noise is all."

"Covah yer ears like this," and he demonstrates by putting his own paws over his ears, though it's a bit easier seeing as how he can fold his over.

Audri watches, smirking slightly. "I'd look awful silly doin' that. But, I'll try it with the next round. So, when are ya headin' off to fight?"

As soon as he releases his ears, they straighten, though the tips droop with the dampness, water droplets dripping from each. He looks off towards the lightning show as he responds. "Not sure... Depends how soon things start t' happen. They'll probably want us t' go soon, what with the new captives 'n' all..."

Audri pulls the borrowed tunic tighter about her shoulders, while flicking her tail to remove some moisture from it. Her ears fall back, as she draws her arms around her knees quietly. "Yea. Well, ya best be careful 'n don't do nothin' stupid like."

The silence following Audri's statement is punctuated only by the patter of rain around them, as Taye sits worrying quietly at his lower lip. When he does respond, it is ever so softly as he looks towards the shore, and where he knows Halyard to be off in the distance. "I promise I won't do anythin' t' put myself in harms way if'n I don't have t', Audri. I don't know what'll happen, but I'll do m' best t' get back 'ere in one piece."

Audri stares off towards the storm, ears staying slicked back against her hair. "Good. Cause it'll really be awful iffen ya didn't come back with the rest." She mumbles, her paw moving to rub at one of her eyes.

Taye finally looks down at Audri, with a small wrinkling of his brow. He pokes at her shoulder gently, and his voice is very serious and as reassuring and confident as he can make it with his insides all in a turmoil. "I promise I'll come back."

A tiny smile appears as Audri looking up at Taye. "A'right." She takes a quick glance at the lighting in the distance, before facing Taye again. "When ya gonna tell yer da about it?"

"Well, I tried t' before comin' up here but I couldn't find 'im." Taye shrugs uncertainly. "Guess I'll be askin' him t'morrah mornin'. Hope that's a'right with Majah Jarril."

Audri says, "I'm sure Major Jarril won't mind. It wasn't ya fault ya couldn't find him tonight. Sides, ya still got ya exams to take too." Audri replies quietly, rubbing at her eye again while her tail gives a few flicks."

Taye's brow wrinkles s'more. "Yer eye a'right, Audri?" She's rubbing it a lot and all.

Audri's ears begin to flush, her paw dropping to her lap. "Yea, its fine." Chewing her lip, she stands, grabbing the tunic from around her shoulders to hand over to Taye. "Gettin' late though 'n ya probably got alot of stuff to do with ya gettin' ready for the mission 'n exams 'n whatever else."

Taking the tunic from Audri as she hands it to him, Taye looks from the dibbun towards the entrance to the mountain. The rain has mostly moved off, the storm having apparently moved further away from the mountain, so it's only a very light drizzle. The buck nods. "Yeah.. s'pose we both ought t' get some sleep, huh?"

Audri nods, wrapping her arms about her waist, looking off to the door inside. "Yea 'n gettin' in some warmer clothes wouldn't be a bad idea either. But, I'll see ya tomorrow Taye. 'n good luck talkin' with ya da." Offering a meek smile, Audri turns to head into the mountain.

Taye watches her go for a bit, and then starts in himself. Hopefully... Rah says he can go. Heh.
