Salamandastron: Caverns - Archery Range
What's Taye doing in the archery range? Well, he's training, of course. Rather than with a bow, however, he's got himself a sling-shot of sorts. Not a child's toy, however, it is built firmly and the missiles he loads into the cup of the weapon look as if they could do more than sting. Given the weapon, however, he's standing at a slightly closer distance than with a bow. At the moment, he's in the process of taking aim, pulling the shaft of the weapon out before him, leveling it with his gaze.
Terrance pokes his head into the entrance, and gives a impish grin as he spots that certain runner he was hoping to see. Terrance then very carefully walks into the chamber, trying to keep out of sight of Taye so that he can sneak up behind him. In route he grabs himself a bow and a pawful of arrows then proceeds to the lane next to Taye, "Hello chap" he says drawing out the hello a bit.
"'Llo Ter," is out of Taye's lips before he really even registers who he's just said hullo to. But when it /does/ register, he looks around with a small - well, large - wince. He grins, a little sheepishly. "... Ah, Ter, hey. 'Bout the othah night..." He hehs, loosening the tension on the sling-shot for the moment. Ahem. Clear throat. "Wanted to say - y'know. Sorry." Mm-hm. Nod. Grin. XD
Terrance smiles and nods and says, "No need chap. Just good fun, eh wot." He then drops all but one shaft and nocks that shaft in place, drawing back and firing
... Ooh, well. That's good news, isn't it? Taye's grin grows in strength and he gives a firm nod. "Good! Glad you think so, eh?" He turns once again to the range, this time pulling back and firing. The missile flies and strikes the parchment-made target, breaking through with a short *thap* sound. Just about right in the center. He nods to himself, then, and glances to the side at Ter. "... Oh! So I asked the majahs about those rumahs you heard."
Terrance hrms a bit as his arrow lands high and right, about mid way between the center and the edge of the target. "What's they say?"
"Well, they said jus' that - that it was rumah." Taye grins and shrugs, reloading the cup again and pulling it back. He releases the missile and it once again *thaps* into the target, this time a little high. "But! They liked the idea so much that they said to go 'head with it. So it'll be me 'n' prob'ly Seven 'gainst whatevah recruits go 'long. Figure we'll start out a day or two early, 'n' it'll be yer job to track us down."
Terrance draws another arrow and lets it loose, hitting in about the same spot. Well consistency is good at least. "Oh, that rumah, thought you were talkin' 'bout tha othah one. That's good to hear though, should be fun."
Taye looks confused for a moment, and then the 'aha!' moment comes. "Oh. The Darklett rumah?" He shrugs, shakes his head. "Nah... Not that one. Sorry to get yer hopes up, mate."
Terrance shrugs and says, "No worries chap." He then nocks another arrow, glancing over to Taye real quick before launching the arrow.
When Ter glances, Taye is once again in the process of loading a missile. He keeps up the conversation, though, actually choosing to tread on dangerous ground. "... So what /did/ ya think of that doe? She seemed to like ya."
Terrance rolls his eyes, partly at his arrow landing with the other two, but mostly at taye. "Seems like a nice enough gel an all I guess. She's probably at least two seasons oldah than me though chap."
Taye smirks. "Yer tall fer yer age," he says, whilst glancing sideways at the taller buck. XD "And ya act oldah, too. 'Sides, she's real shy, so she's prob'ly not gonna know how to behave 'round bucks her own age. Ya've got a shot."
Terrance gives Taye one of those 'yeah right' looks and says, "You know, I was going to do this when you were least expecting it but I think you deserve it now." He then reaches over and promptly slugs Taye on the upper arm. Dead arms, aren't they fun.
Terrance room-pages, "In the words of Jethro Gibbs from NCIS 'Its no fun when you're expecting it' ;)".
You room page-pose, "Taye mwahas. XD"
Heeeeey! Taye hunches his shoulders, shying away and rubbing at his arm following the punch. "Oy! I was just tryin' to help, ya ungrateful lug." Rub-rub-rub-rub.
Terrance smirks, "Right. Just like I did that ta help toughen ya up." He then grins a bit and picks up his last arrow, drawing the string back, "Besides, didn't you notice she was a bit bandaged up. Didn't exactly lend itself ta her slow dancing, not ta mention the fact that the closest thing ta dancing I've done aside from that little bit yesterday has been boxin'."
Taye smirks, still rubbing at his arm. He tucks the sling-shot in his back pocket, leaving it to jut out. "Yeah, well. Ya gotta learn somehow. Earns ya lots o' points with the gels."
Terrance lets the shaft fly and says, "In case ya haven't noticed, that's not exactly somethin' I'm lookin' ta do. Busy enough training and such so I can make private without havin' ta deal with some unstable gel."
Taye rolls his eyes, looking amused. "They ain't /all/ unstable, y'know." Shrug-shrug. He sits on the nearby bench, leaning back to watch the other practice. "Aw, you'll change yer mind in anothah season or two."
Terrance smirks and goes to pull his arrows out of the target, walking back to where taye sits, "That's what you said last season."
Taye grins, dipping his head in an acknowledging nod. "And I'll say it again nex' season!"
Terrance snorts and says, "And I'll still be the same then too probably." He takes a seat, seating the arrows and bow down. "What's the point in goin' aftah gels anyhow? Especially bein' a fightah, chances are that I'm goin' ta get knocked off before I'd like ta, and probably before any gel I would get would want ta eithah."
Taye's eyebrows go up. "... Well that's a damn depressin' way to look at it, mate." He frowns at the other. "Ya ain't even a private yet 'n' yer plannin' yer death march a'ready?"
Terrance shrugs and says, "But true. We're in tha killin' business aftah all, can't deny that. Anyhow, not plannin' out my deathmarch. I'm plannin' on preventin' tha othah chap from knockin' me off before he gets tha chance ta do tha same ta me."
Taye's nose wrinkles, not exactly cheered by Ter's words. He ducks his head forward, giving the back of his neck a rub. "... Yeah, well, I'm not plannin' on dyin' any time soon, the killin' business'r not." Mutter.
Terrance shrugs and glances around. "Well yer a runnah so don't suspect you should have as many worries there" he jokes with a grin
Taye's ears give a flick. He looks back over his shoulder and smirks, resting an elbow on his knee and his chin on his paw. "'Ey, yer protected bein' with all the rest o' the fightahs. We runnahs have to scout ahead 'n' risk our necks to make sure everythin's safe fer you lot to stomp on ahead."
Terrance chuckles and says, "Uh huh, sure. Then when you see a beast you run back and make us do the rest of the work." The recruit then stands, "Anyhow, I think I'm going ta go get in some extra practice with my ax work. See ya at dinnah maybe."
