Velm decided fresh air was good, he had helped clear one staircase leading up to the wall top and part of the wall, as he wanted to make sure the roads and woods were still watched, just in case as, in his mind, evil never took a vacation.

Chestnut soon landed beside him, "Greetings hareworm whata doin' on wall, is verymuch cold"

Esmeray was soon at the entry, already tried and seeming to debate if it was even worth it, then an idea formed as she looked at the wall, seeing the hare she grinned, "Perfect.." She muttered to herself as she used her snowshoes to get closer and call out,"Oh do help me. I am so very cold and lost"

Velm speaks "Well my feathered one.."He then blinks and sees the cat "Wot in de..." Ok, not everyday one sees this as he seems to debate."Are ya..friend or foe, wot be your name cat? Do you have weapons? If ya do ya need to surrender them, least till you leave"Like one could easily, then again this cat is walking on tall snow.

Chestnut stares at the cat and decides to fly around her a couple of times checking for anything out of place before flying back to the hare" I am notbeing sure...maybe is ok and maybe is not."

Esmeray bites back the urge to hiss, she opens her paws wide "No weapons, I come in peace"She left any weapons not too far off in a snow tunnel she had, the tunnel leads to a bit of a den but the entry is hidden well." I need warmth and a meal, then I will be on my way."

Velm nods "Right lass....ok but you will be watched closely still." If she does come over he will help her on inside but also check her for weapons before leading her further on inside the abbey.

Chestnut flies back to the sparrow loft.

Gorvenalus is inside the Great Hall finishing up some log updates and closes the journal with a soft yarn.

Esmeray is lead inside and even limps as she seems to favor her left foot. She reaches for a chair and dits down"My my,tis nice ta be warm" And she was cold, that was no lie.

Velm follows the cat"Ya can stay a while if like Miss, no need to go back out in such weather after all. I can inform the abbot of our guest." The hare heads on upstairs.

Gorvenalus gets up and goes over to the cat "Oh, a guest? Hello, I am Brother Gorvenalus, Recorder here at the abbey, however, were you...outside? There is so much snow I didn't think traveling was possible."

Esmeray just nods "Yes and very cold." She points to the snowshoes she takes off" These come in handy, but still travel is a real pain. I can stay a few days then must get back to my friend."

Gorenalus hmms"Maybe your friend can stay here as well, maybe both for the winter in fact. I think I am unsure, but there is a plan to try and see if any beast needs help outside the abbey, course we sadly can not   venture far"

"The name is Esmeray and my friend is fine he..." Think quickly "Is not one to be around a lot of beasts, makes him nervous. Just some food maybe, we both are fine and have firewood" Again..true and they were working on food, getting food for the needy after all is the abbey way, she has heard of the abbey and she is following rules and being polite since she is a cat. Were cats seen as vermin though?

Xander made his way into the room. He used the pushcart to walk. On the cart was a bowl of vegetable soup, rolls, and some hot tea. Also a slice of cherry pie"Hello, want something to eat. I was helping in the kitchens and heard we had a guest"

Gorvenalus smiled "Greetings novice Xander and yes, she is here a few days then will go back to a friend, whom I hope she can talk into coming back here"

Esmeray shrugs "We are fine, and you offered supplies after all. It's sometimes best to stay where one is more comfortable" She then adds "But I can ask, we shall see." Maybe this way the abbey beast will be satisfied with the reply.

Xander lets Gorvenalu finish tending to the guest as he gets back to novice duties.

Gorvenalus jots down a couple more things in the journal and then stands"I shall leave you here, someone will check on you soon and we can let you have a room the few days your here."

Esmaeray nods, after the beaver leaves she glaces around. The place is nice she decides and she makes a note to remember names. She finishes her meal and first finds the library. A small grin as she looks for a couple of books, it helps this is in an ABC order. She glances at the charter and hmms, then she knew their beliefs as she sits and reads, then heads to bed. She will read more later.

WHO:

Rufus- Sea Gull

LOG:

Rufus was in a grumpy mood today. His one wing still in a sort of splint, but it was healing at least. His nest was still in the infirmary corner...an old cot lay on the floor with a couple of old towels and feathers, some moss was even found.

Zolomon poked his head into the room and slowly walked over with some bread and rice cakes, also some water"Here ya go Rufus, ya doing ok?

Elbio tagged along and gulped as he looked in at the seagull, this was a bad idea, to go into the room so he backed up and then tripped over a bowl that was left in here, picking it up he slowly got up.

Rufus quickly looked at the doorway."Wot bunny want?" he eyed Zolomon "I looks ok bunny? No..wanna fly, wanna soar"

Zolomon nods "Well ya need ta get better first my feathered chap." He  smiled at Elbio "Elbio...come on in and say hi to Rufus"

Elbio frowned but he came in and set the mug on a table "I..I am fine over here sur" He says, he feared the bird, all birds he feared ever since the eagles that were after those bats he helped save.

Rufus watched the hare then spoke, "This bunny,....has fear, why is bunny in patrol if have fear?"

Zolomon went over to the other hare "Hey, Rufus is nice if ya worried...and everyone can have a fear, Rufus, it doesn't make ya less of a patrol hare, we all have strengths and weaknesses."

Elbio let himself be lead inside after a few moments "I...I'm..." He sighs "I had to deal with eagles once on a very tall mountain, the eagles had these bat dibbuns....also after that faced...very strange creatures...."He looks at Rufus and speaks "A nice...sea gull?"

Rufus shivers "Rufus no like eagles either....eagle once ate seagull from my old home.....not that is home now, here..mountain is home" He tilts his head at Elbio "Rufus be friend...to Elbio?"

Zolomon smiles to encourage Elbio "Wot ya say chap, maybe he could even follow ya to Redwall in de spring"

Elbio reaches out a paw to touch Rufus's head and then stays where he is. "That is up to...Rufus...and a bird as a friend, could be..."He smiles "Neat"

Rufus nods "Ya ya...help get new friend to Redwall ya..when Spring, then Rufus come back here to let other bunnies and Bunny Lord know made it ya ya"

Zolomon chuckles a little, he hmmms "We should see on getting Rufus elsewhere...maybe his Lordship room...ya for sure not be bothered thar Rufus"

Elbio hmmms"But...where? And shouldn't we ask Lord Ciocan first sur?"

Rufus nods "Rufus would like yaya..Bunnys be plenty quick and ask..yaya..ya"

Zolomon nods"Right away chap....come Elbio, let's find Lord C..I bet he is in de forge"

Elbio frowns "It's Lord Ciocan...not  Lord C sur...."

Rufus just waits, hopefully, he gets a reply after dinner time as too many bunnys did come and go into the room.

Zolomon just nods "Yes, Lord C...we can talk to him at dinner  which is..."He frowns "IN 5  BLOOMING MINUTES!" He races on to the Dinning Hall, he will make sure Elbio gets there also.

Gorvenalus looked around "This snow is likely gonna be around for weeks." As he spoke it started to lightly snow, adding just a little snow to the snow already on the ground."Of course, we can expect more snow to add to it over the next few weeks also."

Velm was here bundled in his thick cloak and frowned "I bally well hate snow old chap, I should have rethought me plan ta come here in winter."

Anil watches from where he is perched on a nearby sort of..ledge, oh wait it's the arm of a bench.

Gorvenalus chuckles as he watches the moles make some paths. He speaks with Foremole briefly before going back to the others "Foremole says we have made it to the Rose Garen, now let's be careful everyone and see if we can find the weather vane."

Krisha had come out to make sure no one got too cold or tried. She also was helping with hot drinks of cider and tea. She has a couple novice pass the tea and cider out.

Xander was doing fairly well carrying the large tray along the path, he took his time and moved slowly. He slipped once on the way back but just took a deep breath and stood back up and went to sit by the door leading to the dorms.

Oz and the dibbuns peered outside a short way, but they still could not come out to play in the snow, to think too much snow for playing it...oh well.

Velm hmmphed as he glanced around for anything out of place in the snow. "Too much snow to bally well find much I say"

Gorvenalus sighed as he keeps the group cheered up "I am sure we will find it soon, the sparrows said it fell in this area after all"

Anil seeing the Badger Mother flew over to land on her shoulder, he seemed very pleased with himself as his flying was getting better and his spang wing was better.

Krisha smiled "Hello Anil, howum is you?" She looked to where the other dibbuns were and gently lowered Anil down "Here play withum the abbeyyoungones ...makeum a friend"

Oz was already friends and right away went towards Anil "Birdie....hihihihi.....plays?"

A couple of dibbun voles grew curious and others just went back to the playroom being unsure of the sparrow right now.

Xander went to help keep an eye on the dibbuns inside.

Velm studied a pile of snow and went to lean on the snow wall "I say chaps this is like searching for a blooming needle in a....OWWWWWWWWWCH!" He cried out and jumped forewards as if something stabbed him, the back of his thick cloak now had a small tear, he felt with a paw and then dug a little"Aha!" It was one of the weather vane tips...the North tip in fact.

Gorvenalus came over, and one of the moles chuckled "Burrr haa haa ya be afindin' it Mr. Velm" The moles go to take over carefully digging up the weather vane.

Krisha made her way over "You ok Velm?" She glances at the cloak"Easily sewn....and no blood, you just got slightly jabbed ...your be fine."

Velm frowned as he rubbed his back "Fine ya say, tis a blooming wound lass." When he gets to the infirm he will learn it only slightly broke the skin, maybe it's a little bruised and red but didn't draw blood.

Anil meanwhile smiles best a bird can, "Friends?" He asks "Whyum.....friendie nots haveum...feathers?" He tilts his head"Falls off?"

Oz seems to think about this and shrugs. He jumps up and down a couple times as he attempts to fly and of course fails seeing as he is a badger. He frowns and shrugs again "Not.....not knows..."

Gorvenaluswatches as the moles manage to clear more of the weather vane free and have some stronger beasts gently pull, letting the moles say when to pull and when to stop, it takes a couple of hours but the weather vane is soon freed from the snow and carefully brought inside.

Krisha walks over to scoop up Oz and smiles at Anil "We haveum fur, only birds haveum feathers" A smile as she lets Anil go to her shoulder if he wants and goes to head inside as well" We need to see where Benar wants to keep the weather vane, need a safe place for it till likely spring sometime. Also, we should work some more on the paths to the kitchen yard but that can wait till tomorrow."

So far a path was made from the main hall to the gatehouse and Champion Cottage. Another path leads to the graveyard and one path leads to the Rose Garden. There was a path being started to the Bell Tower and one slowly heading to the Kitchen Yard, but the one to the Kitchen Yard still was only half done as a small bit did get messed up and will need to be cleared again.

Inside lunch was simple cheese and bread with a salad and something to drink. Dinner smelled like it was gonna be vegetable soup.

Gorvenalus walked in and sat down and made sure to write down things for the Redwall logs later on. He put his journal away and leaned back "I do hope our friends elsewhere are ok"

Krisha speaks "I am sure they will let us know anything important somehow Brother Gorvenalus. I am sure our friends at Camp Willow, GUOSIM, and Ferrvale is ok. I spoke to the Sparra and they are doing well for winter, a little low on food but otherwise warm and safe up in the loft where they live. There are not as many of them now, but we can always find out more later if they wish to share."

Chestnut chooses now to fly down and land near Krisha "Sparra haveum 15 birds....4 eggchick as well. Other Sparra flies off...fear ratworms from before part of...also some nolikeum Old King..some stillum do. Old Quickbeck still there....beum old old old and wise, too old do much."

Krisha  listens and nods "Thankyou Queen Chestnut, it is good we are still allies"

Chestnut nods"Stillum allies yes...Abbeyworms still friendworms  to Sparra evermore. Maybe Queen Chestnut come chat more withum Abbeyworms....maybe" She is still unsure, the Sparra Afterall rarely speak with the Abbeyworms, yes they help defend the abbey as...well if the abbey ever falls they would also be in danger, yes they could fly away but this place is also their home so they too fight for it, the rats, however...seemed to freak most of the sparrows out though.

Gorvenalus would reply but he has fallen asleep in his chair, its been a long day.

Krisha smiles, she motions Anil to head back to the loft with Chestnut since his flying is better now.

Anil pouts, wait can a bird pout?...anyways he does and then follows his mother back to the loft.

Chestnut gets back to the loft and checks around to make sure her fellow sparrows are ok, are warm, and cozy. She fixes Quickbeck's nest and a couple of others then goes back to her own nest to sleep.

Gorvenalus was ready, well almost as he looked around the abbey.     He sighed a little as it seemed his idea was going nowhere and started to head to the Great Hall.

Velm smiles "ya look lost in ya own Abbey thar old bean, need sum help ?"

Gorvenalus smiles "Yes I do Velm"He goes to whisper into the hare's ear and chuckles "I shall meet you in the Great Hall sur hare and await your decision on the important matter"

Krisha was down in the Great Hall making sure the dibbuns stayed seated and behaved. There were cookies shaped like snowflakes and some cider to drink, cider for the grownups, and some made for the dibbuns.

Ciana smiled as she looked around, she seemed excited as last winter she was a little too young to attend the story and Snow Badger Party.

A couple of dibbuns started to fight but it was quickly broken up by Brother Rick.

Xavier tilted his head and looked around "But de..Snow Badger already bring snow, he makes TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much snow"

Gorvenalus comes into the room and smiles as he sits in a chair "Greetings all, it is good to see you. I am to read the Snow Badger Story and maybe, maybe we shall have a special guest show up if your all good"

Xander was also helping with the dibbuns and even let a couple sit on his lap as they listen to the story.

Krisha smiles "Ok let's all be good and listen to the story now  little ones."

Gorvenalus smiles as he reads the story, the same obe ever time but it is still loved and it's..well, this story has to happen or it just isn't a good night before the Snow Badger comes sort of night. After the story, he smiles "Now let's see...oh yes, my guest.."He looks at the doorway now"Are you here?"

Velm seemed unsure at first but then agreed to it. Wear this tunic and pants that's green, with bells and white trim. Put on some white powder and wear the jingle green hat as well as he comes in and grins "Sorry old bean, us snow hares must help de Snow Badger ya know...busy night but I come with  a small gift" He winks "De rest are here after ya asleep, only us special snow hares get ta see de Snow Badger"

The dibbuns ooooohs and ahhhhhhhhed at the guest. Some chuckled but all were very good.

Ciana stands and walks closer "Is he really really tall, like taller than de Badger Lord is?"

Krisha stayed seated and smiles at the dibbuns, she looks at Velm and chuckles slightly.

Xander smiles too "Well a hare....nice"He nods to Krisha as he speaks quietly "Guess it is good ta have a hare visiting for winter huh love"

Gorvenalus smiles and lets Velm tend to the dibbuns, after all, he is supposed to be the special guest tonight.

Velm smiles, he gives out a small pack that has gloves and a scarf, and a candied chestnut. He even hands some packages to the grownups too and grins ."Even grown-ups get gifts too lads and lasses" He gets a cookie and some cider and replies to Ciana "He is very large yes...tall but ya know wot, he can get small if needed...otherwise how would he fit in some doors and such"He chuckles, this is fun he had to admit, this is fun. He then bows, "I have to get c\going now remember off ta bed and be jolly good for Mother Krisha" And he headed out the door.

Xander just chuckles as he watches the hare, he takes his own package and nods his thanks."This turned out to be a good night"

Krisha nods "Yes it did, I am glad and we even had an early snow, yes a bit...too much but still snow"

Ciana puts on her scarf and smiles. She is happy today and nothing will mess that up, nothing!

The dibbuns are still being good. They even head off to bed with Sister Anna and Brother Rick.

Velm ps  ack in after he cleans up a bit. He is in some normal clothing right now."Hallo chaps....lasses"

Gorvenalus smiles at Velm and gives a "Thank you" Quietly to him as he leans back in his chair. He is tried and can update some logs later as he yawns a little.

Ciana sighs, she then smiles at Velm as she passes him "You missed one of de Snow Badger's hares Mr. Velm...." She then hurries off to bed.

Velm hmmms "I did? Oh well, lass tis ok. Get ta bed lass....good lass"

Xander helps make sure they all get to bed and asleep. He then goes to bed himself.

Krisha smiles at Gorvenalus "Thanks Brother Gorvenalus."

Gorvenalus smiles "Your welcome Krisha" He leans back and ends up falling asleep in his chair by the fireplace

The next morning is nice, with presents for all and even a small sweet treat of some sort. Even Oz got a present and sweets!

WHO:

LOG:

Ciana was sitting in a chair by herself, as she did most days. She frowned as she avoided the dibbuns who were playing in another room. She instead was drawing a frowning stick figure sitting alone while other happy stick figures were on the other side of the paper smiling.

Oz was here too, but he wasn't here to be alone, he was here cause he got in trouble so he had no playtime for a whole week as he sat under the table and pouted.

This is what Velm walks into when he enters the room. Now that his uniform is cleaned and died he is wearing it. A Lt. of the Long Patrol, showing the rank of Haler and he even has an award some past battle. He glances over at Ciana and walks over, "Hallo lass, are you Ciana...I jolly well hope so as your the only hare dibbun here...I think" Least he assumes there is only one hare dibbun here.

Ciana looks up slowly and lets a small gasp escape her as she looks at the  hare "You is a Long Patrol hare!"

Oz peeks out from under the table and looks up at the hare as well"Patrol..."He crawls out from under the table and stands slowly and smiles wide.

Velm nods "Yes I am, but are ya Ciana.."He looks down as he sees Oz "Oh if tis not de troubling cub eh wot" He grins and if allowed will pick up Oz and set him in a chair."Say lad...is this Ciana?"

Ciana smiles "I am Ciana...whys?" She frowns a little "Oz in troubles, he wander away and scared Mother Krisha."

Oz sticks his tongue out at Ciana and waves to the hare"Me see...lot hares at..SAL...sALA....sala...mo.."He frowns such a hard word at this age.

Velm chuckles "I remember yes lad went on an adventure! But he did help another find a lost wee bird"He then digs in his pockets and brings out a letter laying it in front of Ciana"For you lass.." It is addressed to her from Elbio. He grins at Oz "Tis Salamandstron lad."

Ciana's face brightens into the biggest smile ever as she opens the letter quickly and reads it, she smiles "I can reads real good!" She smiles as her footpaws kick back and forth and she smiles more and more "Daddy not forgets me! Daddy be back when warm weather...in..in spring! And he  gonna lives here forever and ever!" She hugs the letter and is just so so so happy!

Oz blinks but smiles as his friend is happy so he is happy. He looks at the hare and giggles a little. "Me is Oz"

Velm nods, he smiles at the two dibbuns and chuckles at the badger cub "Oz huh....well ya best be good hmmm?" He looks around and  then pulls out  a cookie each he saved from....well the kitchen."Here ya go, now shhhhhhhh"

Ciana gets the cookie and starts to eat it "; Thanks you"

Oz stuffs most of the cookie into his mouth and slowly eats it, he keeps looking around for adults who likely would frown on cookie eating.

Velm decides to sit down "So wot we have 'ere then...future long Patrol warrior lass, and maybe some future Badger Lord ey? One never knows...seasons from not course."

Ciana finishes her cookie and nods "I is gonna be a fighter...or runner or....or both!" She tilts her head at the word Badger Lord and looks at Oz and back to Velm "I seen de Badger Lord fore...he TALL! He is real, real, super,  super taller than ever!"She then grins "Yeah yeah...I go to....to Mountain whens I be an adult and......and so Oz yeah..right?" She looks at Oz.

Oz blinks and finishes his cookie "Lord?" He seems to be unsure of that and then shakes his head."No no....me stays here...Oz live here with mommy and daddy"

Velm chuckles a little , "One never knows wot de future holds, sides one day thar  will be a new Badger Lord...or maybe Lady, likely not fer many many seasons though."

Ciana nods "Yeah cause Ciocan needa be rounds for....till he like...1000 seasons old!"

Oz blinks and is unsure of how many seasons that is but sounds like a lot, so he nods in agreement.

Velm hmms "That would be pretty old though"He chuckles "I like be long gone...hee hee, but he be famous  I suppose"

Ciana shrugs "Maybe you gets to be 1000 seasons too"She frowns "I hungry"

Oz nods "Hungie...foods?"

Velm looks at the kitchens and hmmms, "I am a bit peckish me self...yes, I shall return, you two younguns stay 'ere this is a dangerous mission to go into the kitchen" He slips away...there is the sound of shouting and then an angry voice and then it's quiet. A chuckle a few moments later as the hare appears from another doorway. He has 2  fruit pies, a tray of a dozen berry scones, some bread, cheese, and even 3 mugs of strawberry fizz! He sits it down and smiles "A jolly snack for future warriors....and me too"

Ciana smiles and gets some pie and a scone, she sips the fizz and giggles at the fact bubbles tickle some.

Oz grabs 3 scones and dips them in his fizz, then drinks the fizz before getting some pie, luckily it's not hot but he has no knife, which is good so he digs into the pie with his paw and just eats it.

Velm lets the two share a pie as he eats two of the pies, half the scones, and downs his fizz, he chuckles "A nice snack..always good I say!"

Ciana nods as she smiles "You is nice"

Oz nods as he is...very messy with pie, some strawberry fizz, and looks like a bit of scone is by his ear.

Velm nods and hmms as he lo0oks at Oz and chuckles "I do believe ya need a bath lad!"

Ciana frowns at the word bath, it's a bad word to most dibbuns as she gets out of her chair and goes to take Oz's paw "Run Oz...run."

Oz blinks but takes her paw as the two dibbuns escape leaving the hare behind!

Velm blinks and shrugs as he goes to find a place for a good nap.

Ciana meanwhile has led Oz back to the dibbun dorms, they hid there and end up falling asleep to be found by a caretaker an hour later, they let the two sleep....but the bath is still gonna happen after the nap,  as they fail to escape their fate.

LOG:

Gorvenalus sits in the Great Hall, sipping some hot tea as he stays by the fireplace with a frown on his face. The abbey still had yet to really see the damage, he himself looked out the 3rd story window and seen the gatehouse and the champion cottage was mostly buried, piles of snow were by the wall in most places, and a LOT of snow around the grounds. He siped his tea a little again as he tried to think, maybe even help the abbot be less stressed.   

Velm spent the last couple days in a guest room and now has ventured out. The temporary cloth over his eyes is off though some light still hurts a little, he is better. His paw has a couple rough areas, but the frostbite healed and no danger of losing any fingers, or his paw. He noticed the beaver and walked over sitting down close to him "Hey old chap. Seems your abbey is a bit..snowed in" He tilts his head "You seem worried, then I suppose tis a worry wot." He had yet to put his uniform back on. He had a sort of borrowed robe that was faded green and had some brown patches on it.   
   
Gorvenalus glances up and smiles a little "It is good to see you up and about friend, how are you feeling?" He replies to the question "Yes, some friends are trapped in the gatehouse and the cottage...our Gatekeeper Dorarose and also Our Champion Matilda. We will need to get to them and dig them out."   
   
Velm nods "I could jolly well help you."He sighs "I also need ta check ta see if me knapsack is still by de wall. My guess it likely is...not that things couldn't be replaced...they can if needed. I just had some letters I am unsure if were in the pack or....on me at the time."   
   
Gorvenalus smiles "Any help would be good....also"He pulls out a wrapped folder that looks a bit waterstained on the outside but also fairly thick, tied shut with cord."This was in your uniform, we checked to make sure nothing important was inside before we had it cleaned and dried. So you should have it back around lunch"   
   
Velm grins as he takes the package and opens it. It seems it's waterproof. He pulls out 3 letters "Aha!...well good thing then wot."He lays them out "One for a Ciana...one for a Xander Winters....and one to your Abbot too."He smiles "Elbio sent the one for Ciana..Sargeant Zoloon the one for Xander and his Lordship the one for your Abbot...mainly how things are and seeing how things are here.." He hmmms "I wonder if the storm affected them before getting to Mossflower"   
   
Gorvenalus takes the letters and shrugs "It is hard to say, if a storm did affect them as well I am sure all is well. Storms do go from east to west after all so it's very possible...though likely not so much sow there seeing as it's generally warmer, least there so I heard"   
   
Velm says, "It is "He glances around the room, a small frown a moment "I had a hare maid with me, no worries she is at her farm though I do hope her and her family are alright"   
   
Gorvenalus replies "I am sure she is ok if with family. Though yes some outside the abbey may well need help and we sadly can not help everyone. This may well be a hard winter for some beasts, and one of the coldest so far as well. But he has a lot of firewood and food...drink in the abbey we are fine."   
   
Velm says, "That's good, snow is early but at least it was not super early. I will help best I bally well can while I am here. Plan ta stay till spring when Elbio returns, maybe as a Lt. even. I suppose we shall see."   
   
Gorvenalus chuckles "Snow earlier would not have been fun no. We are in a way still lucky, it could have been worse. We do have yet to see if anything else needs attention, we noticed the champion cottage and gatehouse from a 3rd story window. Things more outside or elsewhere we will need to get outside to see."   
   
Velm nods slowly as he sighs "I came...ta find answers of the past, but likely won't be easy now. I just..."He shakes his head "Want ta know wot bally well happen that day...those days...."   
   
Gorvenalus watches the hare "What days, when? It could be in the recorder logs or perhaps someone else knows. Some of both could help too"   
   
Velm seems...out of it a brief moment and then blinks a few times before recovering "Oh...sorry chap when the....de stoat tried ta take over...his Lordship and 300 of us hares came..."He frowns, remembering something maybe or maybe not... it's hard to tell.   
   
Gorvenalus frowns and reaches over to lay a paw on the hare's arm "It's alright....we do have some things in the logs if you wish to read them or maybe I can read them if you do not wish to. I also have a couple things written down of what different beasts said that is not with the main logs. A list of names even that is also on a plaque in the graveyard. Would you like to look with me in the library Velm?"

Velm is still a little out of it and shakes his head to clear it before going to follow the Recorder "Sounds like a plan chap, Can't hurt after all and one never knows wot answers they will find."

Gorvenalus lets the hare look over the scrolls as he walks over to a shelf to place a book back on it that he fixed a page in.

Xander walks into the library, a couple of books he lays down on a table he is returning. He does notice the hare but leaves him be as he looks busy"Brother Gorvenalus I am done looking at these books, should I leave them here or would ya want me ta place them on the shelf?"

Velm looks up at the voice, he studies the badger a while and then speaks "You...you were Thar, ya walked with us. Along the river with..with Sargeant Zolomon, though at the time he was just a recruit. His Lordship made him a Private right before the fighting started"

Gorvenalus smiles "Place them on the shelves, Xander."He blinks as he looks at the hare and then at Xander and back to Velm "You remember something sir hare?"

Xander turns to the hare when he speaks, he has heard Gorvenalus but his focus is on the hare. To prove he did here the Recorder he first  goes to place the books on the correct shelves and makes his way slowly over to Velm and leans on his cane."By the river?" He asks as he sounds confused, then as the hare speaks it dawns on him"Oh, you're talking about on de way back from Salamanstron when me and some of the Mossflower Defenders went to the Mountain for aid against  Ormaz and his large horde."He frowns "It..got worse than we thought when we got back, we didn't know he would have a couple smaller hordes join him or likely he forced them to join up with him" He looks at the hare "I...don't...remember you, then I only really talked to a couple hares and walked with Ciocan most of the time"

Gorvenalus stays to the side and close by in case he is needed as he does a little dusting.

Velm nods and notes the cane "Were you..injured  in the fight?" He stands up to walk closer to Xander "I..saw from a distance...yes." He frowns a little as some things seem to come back to him a bit now.

Xander shakes his head "No, not then. It was more recent."He sighs as he sits in a chair."A group of slavers took our dibbuns from the abbey and some dibbuns from around the area. The slavers got to the western shore...I fought the  2nd in command and he shot a poisoned cross bolt at me, very bad poison, cross bolt at me. Before that, the vixen who was in charge had sliced my shoulder and managed to deepen it before she ran off. The 2nd in command was killed by our Champion but the vixen, Mistclaw, got away, and the poison almost nearly killed me and would of if a healer with us didn't slow it...Ciocan got some vision about the poison and managed to make the antidote before I got thar,  if..."He frowns "If my friends had gotten me thar like an hour later...I would have died, I barely got the antidote in time and even then I almost died in the infirm at Salamanstron....twice I believe almost died."He smiles a little "I survived ....though my right side is messed up, I am alive and glad. I stepped down as a warrior and am now a novice at Redwall and will be a Brother in the order when done with Novice training"

Velm listens and nods slowly"Oh...I see. I just know a lot were injured by Ormaz and his ....horde. I was injured, but on de road...some vermin were outside...and...ditch"He frowns as sort of sways and holds his head as different flashbacks pop up in his memories.

Gorvenalus quickly goes to steady the hare "Hey ...Velm, Lt. Velm can you hear me?"

Xander starts to stand and seeing Gorvenalus stand he stays seated. A deep frown forms, "Is...he alright?"

Velm groans and his eyes seem unfocused  for a couple of moments as the hare slowly comes back to the here and now with a frown of his own "I...yes..wot?" He frowns "Ya bally well know wot chaps, I..I need a rest, a blooming nap"He will of course allow help to his room.

Gorvenalus helps the hare to the room he has and will make sure no one bothers him,he will bring him lunch when it's ready.

I am thinking of making the group for this. I would, if able of course, make the more recent queen. It would be HER  dibbun (eggchick) that is missing.

I have emailed Quickbeck on this and just wait on a reply

Also some thoughts on maybe why we don't see them as often....

1. Some illness only birds get cut their numbers in half...this would of been  like 4-5 seasons ago so it's gone now

2. When Ormax was around maybe it made them afraid and  some left to go elsewhere and never will return for what ever reason...be it vermin ate them, maybe they found some new place .... I know someone had a sparrow..Henry and he had some of the sparra at war with other sparra  and they basically fought one another....not sure that be good or not but maybe another reason  some left to never ever return

3. Maybe a little of both 1 and 2...

4.  Maybe  this cold will even kill some? I don't know...

I am thinking maybe 20  sparrow warriors are up there in roof....And 5 more are eggchick(one of course being the missing one)
