View source for Two otters walk down the dirt road and....


After spending many hours staring blankly at book spines, some novice took pity on Wyld. Finding the books on carpentry for her, Wyldheart finally can get the heck out of Red Wall. She was a little dissapointed that nobody reconized her, however that would be for the best- it was many seasons ago that she ran away from that place. Pack full of books, food, and beverages she walks slowly north on the road.

Siobhan and Misael aren't doing anything in particular.  They've spent the last several days wandering around the dirt road and the forests surrounding it, generally running into the mischief common to that area.  Currently, Siobhan has obtained a plum from somewhere and is eating it rather happily while Misael strolls along with his paws in his pockets, listening to her speak around the plum.  The language they are using is not English but it is garbled anyways and therefore unintelligible.  As they approach the cat, Siobhan nudges Misael with her elbow and points forward rather gleefully.

WyldHeart has lived on her own long enough that she should be paying attention to her surroundings. But, as she is in that lovely age between childhood and adulthood- she finds herself easily off task. As she hauls the large sack, she also stalks a beetle with her toes. It scuttles on the dirt road before her a few scoots, then she sorta-kinda-slinks after it, giving it a good kick once she catches up to it. Thus, she doesn't see the pair ahead on the road.

Misael mutters something to Siobhan who shakes her head and stuffs the remainder of the plum entirely into her mouth.  She chews it for a bit and retrieves the pit which she tosses alongside the road.  Wiping her mouth off with the back of her paw, she smoothes her tunic out a bit and straightens her pack in order to appear a tad bit more presentable.  Misael does nothing at all.  "Helloa!"  She calls out with a happy wave.

WyldHeart looks up sharply, staring at the pair of otters like a deer in headlights. Instantly her ears fall back on her skull. Otters? Why are they the bane of her existance? They are the -worst-. She might like rats better. Rats were at least predictable. With no care at all she drops her pack on the ground, and reaches for her sword hilt.

This turn of events is almost too much for Siobhan to handle!  With an insane smile she reaches for her dagger (not the wisest choice of weapon, perhaps) and draws it.  She's about to wave it happily around when Misael puts a firm paw on her arm, "'spera."  He says, in a low voice.  "No ha hecho nada, ella."  Siobhan gestures towards the sword but Misael shakes his head.  With a heavy accent he turns to the cat and says, "Good afternoon.  We are not, /not/ going to hurt you.  Siobhan here is just a bit...how you say, enthusiastic?"  With a solemn expression he holds his paws out, showing he is unarmed.  Siobhan mutters something about him being no fun and slides her dagger back into her belt.

"Funny, that be the same thing rats be sayin before they try to poke ya once and wrap ya in chain things." She mutters to the male otter. "Why are you on my road?" This she directs at the female. "We already have 'enough of ya water dogs to.. too.." her brain is so angry it is shorting, so she just gets poofy, as usual. "I just want to walk down /my/ road."

A wordless conversation takes place between Misael and Siobhan with the female otter gesturing with her paws towards the cat and Misael firmly shaking his head multiple times.  Finally, Siobhan just ignores him with a wave of her paw and hijacks the conversation.  "Oh, /yer/ road is it?  An' who died an' gave it to ya, if ya don't min' m' askin'?"  She's just having fun now, bolstered by the concept that Misael is there to help if things get out of hand.

WyldHeart grumbles uncontrolably, sliding the bone hilt out and exposing her short sword. "Im'sick of you water-dogs showin up and givin me a hard time, all I want is to walk on, but know- you always have to jump in and tell me what is what! So, this is my road! Thats what, not get your waterlogged butts off'of it or I am gunna stick ya!" This unusual behavior from Wyld is starting to become more and more regular. Otters just bring out a cranky nature.

Misael gives up and goes to sit cross-legged on the side of the road.  With his elbows on his knees and his chin in his paws, he watches calmly.  Siobhan stands in the middle of the road.  "Well, nobody's stoppin' ya, cat.  You can go righ' on past me whene'er y'please."  Siobhan swishes her paws out behind her and tucks her head a little in a pseudo-polite motion.  Misael rolls his eyes.  "Mujeres..."  He mutters and picks a blade of tall grass which he then chews on.

WyldHeart shrinks slightly in size, shoulders sinking along with her spirit, as the otter-maid calls her bluff. What can she do? She doesn't want to be a coward, but the otter-maid is larger and obviously has much more experence thens she. Her green eyes dart over to Misael, and they give him a pleading look. Wyld doesn't have much, so she feels that she is forced to defend her dignity.  In a weak voice, "Do they teach you water-doggies how to duel?" Oh God.

"Siobhan?"  Misael's voice floats over from the side of the road.  "Que haces?  Sabes que ella solo tiene que, siete tiempos?"  Siobhan's ears twitch and she looks at Wyld and then to Misa.  "Pues...en verdad no quise pelear con ella..."  She stands upright.  "Y no tengo algo con que pelear..."  She looks genuinely stumped here.  Most of the time beasts just understand that she's messing around with them.  This one went a bit far.  "Well...." She finally says.  "They do but as you can see here, I'm a bit under-weaponed."  She points to her sole piece of weaponry, the dagger, and then at Wyld's sword.  "I dinna think I'd be able to go against you if you're usin' that thing."

WyldHeart faster then possible and with an obvious nervous edge, the cat puts her weapon back where it belongs. "Ya darn right dare'!" Nervous chuckle, "Dare be rats along the road an' in the sticks, you need somethin bigger then that dare little stickerthing." Yes, because Wyld has all the answers! Like nothing happend at all, she picks up the sack (sounds of broken things can be heard from within) and swings it over her shoulder. The bags mass makes her loose her balance and.. the cat falls over, creating a minor dust cloud.

Misael cringes and Siobhan rushes over to the little cat.  "'ey now!  You alright there?"  She coughs in the dust.  "Look, I dinna mean to frighten ya (yes she did).  Where're y'headed to?"  Now Misael stands up and saunters over to the collapsed cat and otter.  Hands in his pockets, he looks the picture of casualness.

WyldHeart peels her face off the road, spiting out a pebble. A beetle, struts on past her, just out of reach. Taking a deep breath, she attempts to right herself. Instead she starts sneezing, not one, or two times. But like ten! After the spell she looks up at the two larger creatures, shame in her eyes. "Imma wildcat, nuffin scares me.." She says in a small voice. As for Siobhan's question, Wyld turns her gaze northward. "Up the road.." With drooping tail and whiskers, she starts picking up the staind books and broken glass bottles.

"O' course not!"  Siobhan says cheerily.  She feels no shame for what she has done here but, to her credit, she /does/ start helping pick up the mess, as does Misael.  "Up th' road?"  She thinks a bit, trying to remember what's up that direction.  "Y' wouldna happen to be goin' to Ferravale, wouldya?"

WyldHeart is really starting to look worse for wear. Never the most clean of cats, the last couple of days have been hard on the young cat. She has a thick layer of mud from her torso on down, that is now bathed in some road dust. In addition, some sort of red sticky beverage now covers her top half- the contents of the broken bottles most likely. "Aye, I am goin to ferrivilles." She says quietly, as she picks up her mess.

Siobhan isn't the cleanest beast either, but she's nowhere near Wyld's state.  Her eyes brighten as she sees a potential way to help the little cat recover from the ordeal /and/ soothe her now throbbing conscience.  "Well wouldn't ya know we were aheaded that direction, /too/!"  Siobhan casts a quick glance at Misael to make sure he isn't going to say anything and in return Misa rolls his eyes and sighs audibly.  "We'll go /wit'/ ya!"  She grins, apparently thinking this is the best idea ever.

WyldHeart stares at a filty copy to, 'a carpenter's guide to abstract woodworking' for a very long time. Long enough to be socially wierd. Again she takes a breath, this time wihtout the sneezing fit. "Yaaaaaaay." She says with a pathetic amount of gusto. Maybe living in the sticks wasn't so bad. Maybe working for Sarnith was a big fat mistake. Maybe the heavens are punishing Wyld. Maybe an eagle will swoop down and take Siobhan away. That last though gives her a small smile.

Fortunately for Siobhan there are no eagles in sight.  "It's a deal then!"  She reaches out to pat Wyld on the back with a fair amount of enthusiastic force.  "It shouldn't be too much longer from 'ere...whadda y'say, Misa?  About..four hours or so?  Oh, I'm Siobhan, by the way.  You can call me Siobhan.  This 'ere is Misael.  You can call him Misa."  Misa, polite otter that he is, reaches out to Wyld's pack, offering to carry it for her with a slight, apologetic grin.

WyldHeart's paws dart out quickly, to snag the pack. "I can do it fine, thanks." She murmers more as a reasurance to herself. If it was physically possible for her, the cat would sprint down the road. But as she is carring stupid wood books, well- no. That is not happening. "I am Wyld of Heart, but most call me Wyld.." She murmers, more carefully thowing the bag over her shoulder. "Why you goin to ferrivilles?"

Misael retracts his paws, shrugging.  "We have....friend..s...there."  Siobhan says slowly, trying to come up with a fairly plausible lie.  "And we want to....visit wit' them."  Misael grins broadly, hands in his pockets as he takes off down the road, presumably the females will follow him.  "Yep.  Lots and lots o' friends in Ferravale.."  Siobhan continues.

WyldHeart would shrug, but can't as she has both shoulders hunched under the bag's weight. The cat doesn't have any need to carry the conversation on further, so she starts walking north. For all this work, Sarnith better pay her good. Maybe he will even give her an orange. Wyld really likes oranges! The thought of citrus goodness keeps her pace up, as she marches forward.

Siobhan keeps her pace to a casual meander as Wyld speeds on past her.  Misael drops back and joins her as they walk down the road, attempting to keep Wyld in view but the cat is bookin' it and it's all they can do to keep up enough.  They'll probably eventually give up, they being of the short attention span variety, but they'll try to stick with it for a little bit, to make sure the cat gets on her way.  "Somethin' tells me she won't miss us too much..." Says Siobhan thoughtfully as she rummages in her pack for another plum.
