RW Abbey: Kitchen

This is a long, narrow room with five large fireplaces set into one wall, and two equally large wood burning iron stoves set against the opposite wall. Several small, rectangular tables rest in here, but there are no chairs available. The rest of the wallspace is taken up by an entire array of shelves, cupboards, and counters which hold the day-to-day cooking supplies and utensils. The kitchen is clean and well maintained, and more recent efforts have been made toward organization of the cooking ware.

On the wall just right of the door leading into Great Hall is a neatly penned chart, which lists the names of beasts assigned to cooking duty as well as the dates and times they are scheduled. A small note above the chart urges residents to volunteer for at least a slot or two a week.

Morning light is streaming in through the windows. The ovens have been stoked for the days cooking.

Zork is in a sneaky mood again and wheels slowly over to the kitchen doorway and peeks inside looking back and forth, and with him is a group of about 6 dibbuns. A couple mice, a squirrel, a vole, a mole and a baby sparrow.

Caleb is in here cooking and has just finished some walnut and apple scones, a dozen of them and sits them down to cool and smiles as he is proud of himself and has been getting a lot better at cooking the past few weeks.

The dibbuns look at the scones and smile,  dibbuns always seem like bottomless pits when it comes to snacking and they look to Zork to see what his plan is with getting the fresh snack. A mouse dibbun speaks up, “ We needs drinks too…”

Zork brings his finger to his lips in a sshhhhhhhhhh and wheels over to Caleb and grins “How ya doing young Caleb?” Yes he is distracting him…yeah go Elder Zork!

Caleb smiles at Zork, “I am doing ok, I am getting better at cooking now and it’s fun!”

Zork nods and looks over the mouse’s shoulder as the dibbuns snatch the apple and walnut scones, he frowns as they also get out cider, cups, and a  small jar of honey. They also find 3 pears and quickly go to slip away outside, the mole dibbun is left behind as he is slow.

Caleb blinks at the frown” You doing ok today Elder Zork, you’re usually up earlier in the day and its mid-morning now.”

Zork nods “I be doing fine lad, just fine and yeah woke up late but brunch is always good, am I right?”

Caleb nods and hmmms “I could get some of the left over Oatmeal we had I am sure Friar Lacota won’t mind that.” He then turns to get some of the oatmeal, he has yet to see the dibbuns sneaking out another doorway and into the breezeway and on outside!

The mole dibbun trips and bumps into the table as he slides into it, the pepper falls over and some lands on his nose and he  sneezes loudly, this causes the other dibbuns to run quickly away from the scene of the crime.

Zork frowns as he watches the young mole and looks at Caleb “I should be getting going, I promised I help with something this morning…” Yeah help eat the scones as he goes to wheel slowly away and then into the great hall and most likely to his room, fairly quickly.

Caleb blinks and turns around and sees the turned over pepper, and the mole dibbun and then the missing scones and  frowns, he then goes to look out the breezeway and gives chase “Get back here!”

RW Abbey: Zork's Room

This is a good size room and has a large bed with a blue blanket and a couple blue pillows on it. The bed looks like it could easily  fit a tall badger. At the foot of the bed is a cherry wood  chest that is locked , only the owner knows what lies inside. Beside the bed is a small nightstand with a small drawer and a larger drawer. On the Nightstand are an oil lamp and a wash basin. On the wall is a picture of Brother Zork made  from charcoal.  And a toolbox is close to the wall, inside is forge tools, and its wise to leave them alone. There is a door that goes back to the hallway.

Exits: [O]ut

The dibbuns get to Zork’s room and giggle, and soon Zork joins them and grins, “Cider and scones with honey tis a good mid-morning snack!” The dibbuns nod.

Caleb has tracked the dibbuns down and his jaw drops open as he looks into the room where the 6 dibuns and Zork is.

Zork has yet to see Caleb as he passes out a scone each and eats one himself, he pours cider and grins. One dibbun dips his scone in honey and another does as well. The mole dibbun is not there, in fact he ran back to class and left the others alone, but the other 5 are there and so is Zork! So half of 12 is 6 scones left, a vole taps Zork on the shoulder after climbing into his lap and points to the door, the badger chuckles and then about chokes on the scone as he sees Caleb at the doorway.

Caleb frowns “What!..You helped them take the scones, why..F..Friar Lactoa is gonna blame me now.”

Zork coughs and  shakes his head blinking a few times as some of the scone went down wrong “Now..Caleb calm down, I be sure ya will be fine..and they are very good and tasty.” The dibbun  back up and take all but one of the scones and  hide under Zork's bed to eat them, the cider stays on the nightstand as, well, he hard to get that under the bed without a major mess!”

Caleb folds his arms and looks ready to pout and goes to stor4m off down the hall. “Whatever This is reported!”

Benar happens to be in the hall and looks up in time to nearly bump into Caleb, “Novice Caleb whatever is all the shouting about?”

Zork goes to wheel over to the door and frowns upon seeing Benar and brushes off his robes of scone crumbs.

Caleb frowns “The dibbuns, well the DAB ones are in Elder Zork’s room and they took my apple walnut scones and some cider and Elder Zork seems to think it’s nothing to worry on and I AM gonna get blamed for it and..and..” Great now he looks near tears.

Benar lays a paw on his shoulder “Novice Caleb do calm down please.” He looks over at Zork and then Caleb going to escort him back into the room.” So  whats happen then?”

Zork sighs, “I..” The 5 dibbuns crawl out from under the bed and frown, sticky with honey and scone crumbs and some is probably under the bed..ewww gross, and look over at the abbot, the leader is a mouse and he walks over “We is sorry Abbot Benar…no gets mad Zorky..we wanted snack and he not means too helps..” The other 4 nod quickly.

Caleb walks in slowly and still looks upset, half grumpy and half don’t want n trouble sort of  mood.

Benar looks at the dibbuns and folds his paws into his sleeves “Well, I see…this is not something to do , but you did say sorry, but it doesn’t change the fact it happen…but maybe I can forgive it this one time..if”

The dibbuns look hopeful, Zork meanwhile collects the glasses and sits them on the table he has, he will have to get some help for the other cleaning. One of the dibbuns offer the abbot and Caleb half each of the last scone, a peace offering maybe.

Caleb takes his half of the scone and listens, curious as to where the abbot is going with this forgiving if..if what?

Benar smiles “If..you dibbuns clean up the mess in here, then go wash up. Novice Caleb will take you to wash up, as well as help Papa Oz with one of the lessens this week. Sister Jenny is away for the week, visiting family in the woods, she was needed there and seeing as Oz is blind she is the one that usually helps with the reading and writing daily lessons, I think Novice Caleb you would be a good choice for that. Now as for you dibbuns, you pay attention to Novice Caleb and mind him, cause him no trouble and pay attention to the lessons he does this week, this matter will be forgiven and forgotten, and maybe I can talk friar Lacota and  Novice Caleb into making you all a nice surprise treat, but ONLY if I get a good report, all week and the mess in here is cleaned.” He has yet to take the scone half.

Zork listens and the dibbuns help clean up the rest of their mess, one dibbun comes up to the abbot “And forgives Elder Zork toos?”

Caleb blinks “What…me?”

Benar nods and smiles “Yes he is forgiven as well” He takes the scone half and eats it, “This is very good by the way Novice Caleb and yes a novice does many jobs around the abbey, and you have yet to help with the dibbuns, it’s a short one hour a day, for a week and your still be able to do kitchen duties as well.”

Zork smiles, “I think ya will  do just fine Novice Caleb.” He leans back in his chair as each of the 5 dibbuns hug him and then stand in front of Caleb, all at the same time “Wes reporting to you Novice Caleb!”

Caleb chuckles a little, “Umm ok…” He smiles at Benar “ Thanks..I think” He nods to the dibbuns and leads them off to get cleaned up and then to class, this week should be interesting.

Benar watches them head off and looks over at Zork, “ It seems the DAB like you Zork, I do hope you’re not trying to get into too much trouble or over doing anything this past week?”

Zork nods “I be fine Abbot Benar, well maybe a little carried away but I am being careful, sides the dibbuns remind me of fun and I miss fun.” He then goes to unlock a drawer and pulls out a small box, “By de way Benar, I made something fer de abbey, I designed it and all and been working on it a while, course Silverstorm helped getting the metal into de mode and all and I shined it up ta look very nice.”

Inside the box is a note and amulet , the note reads: --To Abbot Benar, I leave behind an amulet I have been working on for quite some time. It is adorned with the image of our good friend Abbot Lorimis.—The amulet is indeed very detailed and well made.

Benar opens it and pulls out the amulet and reads the note and smiles “Thank you Zork, this is very nice of you and I will make sure all the abbey can see it my friend.”

Zork nods “I figured…may as well give it  to ya now, ya know later may not be best and no one would of known where it was.”

Benar goes to hug Zork gently and smiles, “ It’s a very nice gift my old friend and will be keep somewhere where it will be safe and kept looking nice.” He then steps back “How have you been feeling lately my friend?”

Zork returns the hug and answers” Well..taday been good..over sleep which is rare fer me, but I been ok. No  major pains or anything, did have some trouble breathing this morning but only for a few minutes and it passed”

Benar frowns but nods “I could have Leon come in and check on you, but only if you are ok with that. But I do think it’s wise to let Angela or Leon know of that, and any other  concerns or issues you have Zork.”

Zork nods “Course..course Benar.” He decides to not mention he feels slightly ill today, maybe it’s just the scone and the oatmeal mixed, there was some hotroot he added to that oatmeal after all.

Benar nods “I need to tend to my abbot duties, was there anything else you needed?”

Zork starts to shake his head and then sighs, “Umm…ya know maybe ya can have Leon check on me, have been feeling rather tried past couple days, trouble sleeping and I do feel a little..ill today, not sure if its cause of the oatmeal with hotroot added mixed with apple walnut scone or ..wot.” He leans backs in his chair, he does around tried.

Benar looks concern and nods “I will ask Leon to come check on you, how About you rest in your room the rest of today, and it’s not really a request, I don’t wish to see you trying to do too much if you’re feeling ill, in fact a couple days rest would be best and I can always have a novice or maybe Sister Zinnia bring you meals.”

Zork nods and doesn’t argue with the abbot “Yes Abbot Benar…” He carefully stands and shakily gets into bed and lays down.

Benar watches him and nods as he heads off to find Leon  or Angela to check on Zork, concern for his friend shows.

Zork will stay awake long enough to be checked by Leon or Angela, who ever happens to come, and then he will take a nap, a couple days rest in his room isn’t too bad an idea probably.
