Salamandastron: Caverns - Boxing Chamber

This room obviously has a rather singular purpose, and that purpose is not hard to discern, if one was only to look around. There is only about ten or fifteen feets worth of space in which to walk, around the perimeter, and the reason for this is that the rest of the space in the room is taken up by a slightly elevated fighting ring. The platform is about two feet above the floor, and upon each corner of the square platform there is a wooden post. Encircling the ring in are lengths of rope extending from each post. The floor of the platform is somewhat giving, as it is in someway padded. So far as the perimeter of the room, chin-up bars attached to the walls are staggered with benches, from which creatures can watch the fights.

Quinten walks into the room quite steadily compared to his state yesterday, he is still hurting here and there from his brusies but the healers up at the infirmary let him go with some stern warning to avoid any more sharp one twos to the nogging, clearing him of not having a concussion just a bit of a shock from the knocks. he's come back down now he is free from lessons, only place he does any good is boxing and he has no lessons in that, at least not formal ones

Dandelion doesn't have classes either at the moment, and has drifted down to the boxing room with some of the others, although he's not really interested in boxing himself. The others have tired of fighting, and Dandelion is standing around in the ring, examining the ropes.

Quinten spots Dandelion and pads on over and grins "Hey Dande how are ye? down for some sparring too?"

Dandelion glances over at the group of bucks he came down with, and notices they've started to drift towards the exit. "Well... not really. I'm not that good at this..." he mumbles.

Quinten grins ears flicking "Heeey now i bet your better then me, didn't you hear how Brossart knocked me silly yesterday?" he grins "I got away with calling Lieutenant Darklett all kinds of names apparently"

Dandelion grins. "Really? No, I haven't been paying much attention to the boxing... Healers told me to mind my nose a while back, and I didn't really get started again."

Quinten clambers up under the ropes and tugs at the other recruit "Ahh come on Dandelion git in ere with me, aye could do with a sparring partner more on me level"

Dandelion flinches visibly, ears dropping to hang down the back of his head. "Uh... I'm not

sure..." Another glance over his shoulder tells him most of the others have left. At least there's no audience.

Quinten looks down at Dande bobbing from paw to paw and darting his paws at the air infront of him, boxing at his shadow "Come on Dande"

Sighing, Dandelion goes up on his toes and puts his hands up like he's been taught, shifting his weight from left to right and back again.

Quinten smiles and begins to circle the ring slowly, bobbing on his paws and darts forwards a feint to the left, to the left, to the right then dodging back

Darklett is really expecting an empty chamber when he pays it a visit, the lieutenant not at all in his boxing attire... Rather, he's in full uniform at the moment, apparently meaning to just punch at a dummy to toughen up a bit. When he sees that the two recruits are down here, though, he stops just inside, not calling attention to himself, leaning against the inside of the door with his arms crossed, watching.

Dandelion stays rather stationary, turning on the spot to face the other recruit, and keeping his guard up. His whole posture is a little awkward from lack of habit, which is especially apparent when one of Quinten's fists comes a little too close to his face and he pulls his arms up needlessly much. Still a little nervous about the nose, it seems.

Quinten frowns dodging back and bouncing from paw to paw, his eyes flick to Darklett as he catches movement, dressed in his fighter tunic and pants he turns his attention to Dande and slowls down his bobbing feinting once, or twice treying to draw him towards him let him take the offensive

Still refusing to move from his spot in the middle of the ring, Dandelion seems to have gotten over a little of the nervosity at least, although he's still too focused on his opponent to notice Darklett - or anything else outside the ring for that matter.

Quinten shakes his head and moves left feinting to the right then swinging a paw to tap his stomach gently "Come on Dande focus your wide open"

Dandelion hadn't realised he was holding his guard too high again, and is quite surprised. This time, however, he responds instinctively with a left hook against the other's face, while at the same time retreating half a step back.

Quinten smiles and swings his head back dodging that left hook more thanks to Dande's step back then his agility, he dodges left and attacks with a flurry of feints paws darting this way and that, trying to draw his guard away so he can get him in the chest

Dandelion has been in more fights with his elder brothers than he cares to count, and knows what to do when being pummelled. He pulls his head down, keeps his shoulders up, and his guard tight, concentrating on protection.

Quinten grins and dances back "Ooooh you are good well done Dande" he quips and lashes out with his left paw then his right a second after aimed at his head

Dandelion ducks back rather than block the blow, and almost loses his balance, having to take a step backwards not to fall over. He regains his balance, though, and strikes out another time, again with his left, without any particular goal, just to fend off his opponent for a moment.

Quinten dodges back ears flapping from side to side I say good show...though a bit too hectic

Dandelion puts his arms up again and resumes his previous stance, albeit being crouched down a bit lower now. Seems at least parts of what he was taught stuck with him. "I told you I'm not very good at this..."

Quinten smiles "Its ok, just look at my chest not my paws, it will show you wht you need to know" he lunges forwards laucnhing into another barrage and trying to press in as close as he can, back him against the ropes

Dandelion puts up his arms again, but only takes a slight step back with one foot to steady himself in place.

Quinten keeps pressing forwards, paws feinting as fast as he can move them trying to force Dande to move back or get in closer himself

Dandelion just huddles up even more, persistently keeping his guard up and waiting for the other to stop.

Quinten dances back out of treach and flicks his fringe out of his eyes "Your good at blocking..."

Quinten watches Dande leave and leans on the ropes panting hapily he rasies a paw in salute to Darklett
