William sits on the floor of Mole Hall near the fire munching on a mushroom and carrot flan.

Aikuen comes into the Mole hall from the sleeping hall. He yawns and scratches the back on his head before trooping off toward the kitchen. He soon returns with a large mug of something. Probably tea, and sits down at the table. He yawns loudly again, before resting his head on the table.

William finishes the last of the flan and looks over at Aikuen. "Tired Pa? Thought you'd just got up." The rat gets up to set his plate on the end of the table and takes the seat across from the otter.

William asks, "The twins keep you awake or something?"

Aikuen yawns at the table again, and he shakes his head heavily. Get the blood a-flowing, then going to rub his eyeballs, "Hmm... Aye. Tired. Tired..." he blinks heavily, "Aye. The twins. They're full of energy. And I'm not...." Head-table, "And. Just haven't been sleeping well lately..." The mug of tea is untouched.

William leans forward resting his arms on the table. "Eh you got a great many beasts t watch em whenever you want and if it's about sleeping through th night I'm sure they'll get better in time. You may be old but you're always been able t do all sorts of things."

Aikuen snorts, "That's true. But I like sleeping in the same room as them. Its odd I know. But it makes me feel better I guess..." noisy sip of mug-o-tea, "...Thanks for calling me old. I know. I just been real good about what I do or did. But it's finally creeping up on me..." he sighs, and tries not to yawn again.

William says, "Well you're the oldest here. You're never really told me how old you are and you don't look as old as some of the old beasts I've seen. Of course I've heard some of them don't act any older than the twins. You can't help being whatever age you are. None of us can."

Aikuen nods a bit, "I'm... 22. But i don't look it aye, because i take care of my body. Was always fit. Had to eat right. You know. That type of stuff..." he sighs and rubs his temples, "I cant help it, yes. But i don't like it..." Another noisy sip, "Oh well..." he shrugs.

William blinks he'd figured the otter was old but he hadn't realized how old he actually was. "... 22 ..... You still got a lot of seasons ahead of you. Amy's dad's older'n that."

Aikuen nods and sighs, "Aye. We old foggies need to start to fasten down our lives... I always thought my family would be bigger... See them have family of their own... Excluding present company of course... How old is Amy's dad?" Just wondering."

Will thinks a bit. "Umm ... well she said he was twenty when she was born and she'll be nine in spring soooo he'd be nearly twenty nine I'd guess."

Aikuen nods, "He is getting near the age... When he should start looking for someplace to rest for eternity..." he sighs and places his head back on the table, "Thirty to thirty five... Average lifespan of beasts... Just really something to think about, ya know..." he grunts and polished off the entire mug in just a few gulps. It was getting cold anyway, "...Stupid medical journals..."

William tilts his head at the otter, "I wouldn't worry too much. You never stuck me as average in any way. Doubt any beast would say you were either." He smiles at the otter hoping it'll cheer him up a little.

Aikuen chuckles and nods, "Oh aye! That's true!" he snorts and sighs with a smile, "I got a lot to look forward to... The twins growing up. And maybe... A few other things as well." he grins stupidly for a second, before getting up, "Thanks Will. That made me feel a bit better. But I wonder if it will help me sleep..." he shrugs, "Probably not... Anyway. I need to get back to Fira..." he leaves the mug on the table as he walks back to the sleeping hall, "See yah Will!" he waves, and then he is gone.
