FV:Gates

Gentle breezes softly drift through the various trees, creating a soft rustle soothing to the ears. The well-worn paw path wanders east and west, not straight as a road but definitely a line.  Most of the path cuts through the thick foliage, beaten and well-trod on grass marking its main course. The trees are alive with various sorts of birds and insects, buzzing chirping and skittering about. There are flowers blooming all along the trail of all sorts of colors, scenting the fresh air lightly with their soft fragrances which almost covers the slight scent of decay that comes from the west.

A large arched brick gateway rises up to end the path to the west, tall wooden palisades spreading out from either side with a ditch at their base. Along the gate's topmost arch is carved beautifully in granite, one word. Ferravale. In the vertical sections of the arch are two large openings, within are two large ferret mercenaries, the town's guard with further mercenaries in the guardhouse that can just be seen butting up to the inside of the walls. Inside of this huge arch is a well-crafted cast iron gate, very thick with bars a paw's width apart. A symbol rests is made in the iron, a large paw print, split down the center.

Treesong the squirrel.  Whisper the polecat.  Blisa the cat, Ferdinand the ferret, and DoraRose the mouse.  John, another squirrel.  Kaderian the shrew (hey, cool!  we don't have very many of those).

Treesong walks up the path, she still has her rainbow shell on but not so much the feather headband as before. She does have face paint on and some extra feathers in her headfur.

Whisper looks over at the squirrel and blinks, she then remembers all the tribal looking squirrels in the woods and notices the shell fairly quickly too, but wasn't there another squirrel that worn that. She walks up to the squirrel slowly and stops nearby her," Thought all your kind stayed in the woods and that shell seems familiar too, some old squirrel had it who walked a lot around here and was in that fight with Hudson."

Treesong lets out a small gasp and backs up with a frown, "Who are you and what do you know of my grandfather?" She looks around and now wishes she didn't decide to go off on her own.

Whisper shrugs  "I was at the fight, and no it wasn't to harm squirrels. Besides the way they acted ya be insane to mess with them."

Treesong keeps an eye on the polecat and looks around, no other squirrel are in sight, then again she didn't ask any to follow her, "The...fight? The one that injured my...grandfather?"

Whisper nods "I am guessing yes, if he was the old squirrel then yeah same fight, one of those squirrel carried him off after he was injured, who knows where but he worn that sea shell thing, I remember that so how did you get it and why?"

Treesong cups her paw over the rainbow colored shell, still a little unsure of the pole cat, "He is unable to preform duties for a while, I am leader for now, it was brought to me with news from a abbey healer.."

Whisper rolls her eyes "Not gonna hurt you...Abbey healer? Only abbey healer I know of was the one Hudson wanted.." She chuckles dryly, "Hudson...not that he is able to cause trouble anymore."

Treesong frowns, she is unsure still and right now alone as no other clan beasts followed her, but still curious of what happen since she wasn't told, then she did tell her body guard to go away for a while out of being annoyed at him, "Why were you at fight?  Who are you...you...you will answer me."

A trio approaches from farther deeper in the village.  When they get close enough, a small white female cat can be seen as the leader, flanked by a female mouse hefting a black battleaxe and a male ferret with a sabre at his side.  They stop beside the speaking creatures, and the kitten smiles.  "Good day.  My name is Blisa Wyrmtamer, Chieftain of Ferravale.  Welcome to my home.  Can I help you?"

Whisper first answers the squirrel "Oddly  enough helping and you can confirm that with Lee...I DID help free dibbuns, killed some of Hudson's so called friends even and passed out during the fight, but I saw the arrow hit the old squirrel. If the mouse healer helped him then...well that's great and all, he is prob'ally skilled to, lot better than some here and I am Whisper Ebony Storm.." She slowly turns and sees the three beasts, "Well..."

Treesong listens as the polecat speaks, she nods "Yes...Brother Leon mentioned helping Grandfather and...Alvar said he did also.." She looks at the cat, ferret and mouse, "I...'ello" She says. great she is temporarily leader of the Gawtrybe and is already not doing so great it seems.

Blisa grins.  "May I ask your names?  I don't mean to be intrusive; I just need ot kind of stay on top of things, it being wartime and all."  DoraRose Strongheart the mouse warrior looks hard at the squirrel.  "What's this about Leon?  He...he's my husband, and I haven't seen him for a couple days.  Do you know where he is?"  Ferdinand smiles a tiny bit, but stays quiet.

Whisper looks at the kitten "I just mentioned my name kitty. maybe try ta listen more oftener." She rolls her eyes.

Treesong blinks  and looks at Dorarose, "He...is fine, least he should be but he is not near here now." She frowns "Alvar took him to find me, I have spoken to Alvar on this and told him he should not of done it. He will be away " She tries to think "2 weeks maybe...or maybe longer I know not how fast they go...they travel back to here where they are to meet"

Muttering darkly about one thing or an another, a squirrel comes up from the town. John pauses for a moment when he sees the group,  then goes to continue onward. No sense in getting in another...debate.

Blisa glares at the polecat.  "I was out of hearing when you said that.  Maybe you should try to not mouth off at those who could order you to be stuffed into the holding cell again."  Ferdinand winces slightly at the venom in his boss's words.  He's really not in the mood for a fight right now...  DoraRose smiles softly at the squirrel.  "Thank you, but, um, who do you mean by 'they'?  And who is Alvar?"

Whisper glares right back, then snorts "Whisper Ebony Storm.." She repeats.

Treesong frowns towards the pole cat and looks at Dorarose, "I am Treesong...right now leader of The Gawtrybe till my grandfather recovers, I had before been with an Elder Benar, Sister Zinnia and was traveling from the Mt. of fire...Alvar is a body guard to me and was also to my grandfather. He was on a swan, a friend of the tribe, and did not know where to find me at, it seemed that Brother Leon knew but..." She frowns "I do not think he wishes to come in such a way and seemed he stayed with them and the badger lord and hares, he wished not to be on the swan again and shaked much when he had found us."

John stops again when he hears Gawtrybe. He glances at Ferdinand, then at the other squirrel.  John defiantly does not want to have another meeting with this Gawtrybe. He breaks into a stride, wondering how the gaurdbeast will fare against the group of crazed "squrirrels" bent on killling vermin...

Ferdinand looks at the newcomer squirrel and nods politely.  Blisa just smiles at the polecat.  "See, now that wasn't hard, now was it?"  DoraRose gasps.  "The Long Patrol? They're really coming?  Oh, how wonderful!  So maybe in 2 weeks we can take Redwall back!" Something else the squirrel said suddenly clicks.  "Wait...Leon flew to the Long Patrol?  Oh, my...."  She covers her eyes with a paw and sighs.

Whisper stays quiet at first, "So am I to leave then or what? I did help free dibbuns you know, wasn't for me they never would of been found"

Treesong frowns "Umm...the swan flew with him on it and...Alvar made him come in seemed, you wish to yell at Alvar?" She frowns at another issue  "He said...your Brother Leon was very loud...but safe is he with many, many, many hares and yes a badger also who is Lord of the hares."

John turns around at the mouses words.  Seeing the guard nod he does so back. His eyes dart from Whisper to Treesong, still very cautious of the leader... "Exuse mae, but Ah over heard ye talkin abou' takin' the Abby back. 'Tis it true the Long Patrol will be comin' tae help out?" John asks the group in general.

DoraRose sighs again.  "No, I don't need to talk to Alvar, but thank you.  I know why Leon was loud; he's terrified of heights."  Glancing at the male squirrel, she nods.  "It appears so, unless they meet trouble on the way, which I doubt.  No one in their right mind would attack a  group of the Long Patrol."  Blisa nods to the polecat.  "Yes, you may stay."  She would say more, but she gets distracted by the newcomer.  "I'm hoping so...a contingent from Redwall left quite a while ago to seek help from Salamandastron."  The kitten says each syllable slowly, trying to not stumble over the word.

Whisper listens "Yeah well I wouldn't let just any beast know, let it be a surprise, like for Marek for example, who by the way I hate with a passion and I hated Hudson but least Hudson is dead now."

Treesong nods slowly "Yes he seemed happy to be on the ground, I know not more as I have to hurry back here to be with my tribe"

John nods his head slowly. "Aye..." He glances at whisper, his eyebrows rising. "The Hudson beas' is dead, nae? Tha's 'un good thin'.  As for yer tribe," He adds, turning towards the other squirrel, "Are they, ehm, fit enough tae tell friend from foebeast?"

Blisa looks at the polecat in interest.  "Oh, good, another person vying for the chance to kill Marek.  If this keeps up, he'll have no chance of surviving."  DoraRose nods and smiles kindly at the Gawtrybe leader, then asks the polecat,  "Are the Dibbuns safe?  Mine were in the group, and I haven't seen them since before the invasion."

Whisper answers "Marek needs his head removed and how should I know, I passed out in the fight and woke in the infirm"

Treesong frowns, she is unsure as well.  Treesong decides to head back to her tribe, heading on down the path and then into the woods.

John, turning towards the other beasts, says, "Well, nae, Ah might as well introduce meself." he offers a smile" Ah'm John McGrove, and Ah'd very much like to nae who Ah'm addressing..." John the directs his next question to Whisper, his smile disapearing. "And how'd we go abou' doin' that', pry tell?"

Whisper blinks "Cut off a head..simple, knock the beast out whos head you want to remove and get a sharp sword and ...well aim for the neck"

Kaderian sneaks into the scene, and stands nearby where he might be seen, his hand at his sling. What are all these woodlanders doing talking to a wildcat, he wondered nervously.

The small white cat smiles again, her soft green eyes crinkling a little at the corners.  "I am Blisa Wyrmtamer, Chieftain of Ferravale.  This is my bodyguard Ferdinand."  The mouse nods a greeting.  "And I am DoraRose Strongheart.  I'm just here until Marek is defeated."  She hefts her black battleaxe and cracks a grin.  "I probably look most like an executioner with Nightsong here."

John, ignoring the polecat's sarcastic remark, looks rather taken aback at the young cat's words. "Yer chieftain? Then what happened tae the other cat...what was 'es name...anyway," He glances at DoraRose, something clicking in his mind. "DoraRose...Why does tha' name sound so..." He shakes his head, then laughs at her comment. "Aye, that ye dae."

Whisper just looks between the beasts, "So..is it ok if I help fight against this Marek and his group?"

Kaderian whimpers, "So the rumour is true? A stoat named Marek has taken over Redwall?" He shakes like a leaf, the poor little guy.

Blisa nods.  "Yes, Whisper, we need all the help we can get.  C'mon, Ferdy, I just remembered!  We need to get that thing!"  And tugging on his paw, she runs off.  Ferdinand's long legs easily keep up with her.  DoraRose sighs.  "I should probably go and make sure she doesn't do something rash....boy, I hope LilyMoore doesn't grow up like that.  Excuse me, I'm sorry."  And she, too, hurries away.
