Salamandastron: Dining Chamber

This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron.  It is a

veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the room

so big.  Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak.

Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its

presence is undeniable.  Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room,

each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce.  The chair

at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that

occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord.  The massive

object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the

sun setting over the sea.

A fair spread of food has been laid out on the tables surrounding the fringes of the room, while those in the center are meant for dining. The cooks of the mountain have gone all-out, well aware that their skills will be compared to Redwall Abbey's finest chefs. An assortment of pasties, salads, pies, fish, and various accouterments festoon the serving areas, set out banquet-style. Into the hall strides Ciocan, the Badger Lord dressed in a deep copper tunic and a red kilt, its tartan plaid proud in the light of the lanterns and torches around the hall. Light armor hangs from his chest, mostly ceremonial, and a sizeable hammer hangs from his belt. He makes his way to the largest chair in the room, footfalls oddly quiet on the stone.

 Leon is sitting where ever him and Dorarose was told to sit, quietly looking around at the large room from where he is sitting down.

DoraRose, Felicity, And Julia are at the feast and enter the room and find places to sit. When it’s time to get food they get yummy food and drink.

 Flint is here and in his new uniform finally and smiles. It has taken a little while but he has his new one now as the other one was messed up from when he was missing in action for those 3 seasons, but that’s behind him now and he is just glad to be back.

 Zinnia is a little late, but she is here as she looks inside the large room. She smooths out her abbey robes and walks on into the room. She has on her fancy robe and one that marks her as the ambassador of Redwall as she is led by a hare that shows her where she can sit down.

Celina enters and quickly finds a place to sit, she waves and smiles to a couple other recruits.

 Windrose sits quietly at one of the tables, most likely with some fellow runners of the LP and waits for things to start.

Adrian strides into the room, dressed smartly. He's taking time off his orders so that he can take full advantage of this feast... If only Piffle were present, he sighs.

As he arrives at his chair, the badger lord looks around at the assembly gathered at the enormous banquet table and gives them all a regal smile. Raising a large paw in the air, he brings the chatter to a halt. "Now, I dinnae need to tell ye how fortunate we are to have friends to the east," He begins in a low, rumbling voice. "There's none here among us who wouldna remember all the times that Redwall has come to our aid, nor indeed the times when we have gone to theirs." He pauses, to scattered cheers from the Patrollers. "Redwall, like us, has a new leader, and Abbot Benar sends his blessings to all ye gathered here, and these ambassadors," He adds, spreading his arms wide to indicate the Redwallers seated on both sides of his chair, "bring his goodwill to our shore." The cheering intensifies, with several privates enthusiastically pounding silverware on the table.

Adrian applauds politely.

Zinnia offers a small smile, well the best one she can as she is still getting over some depression but she is better than she was before she got here, she waits till things calm before speaking "Hello, I...I am glad to be here."

Leon nods politely as He, Dorarose and of course Zinnia is introduced to the group of hares.

 Flint claps and nods "Welcome ta Salamadstron."

Windrose listens as the Badger Lord introduces the guests; she does clap a little but otherwise sits quietly.

Celina smiles and cheers, then then quiets down, “Sorry…” She mutters, but other recruits seem excited about the guests as well.

"This feast are in their honor," Ciocan continues in his foreign accent, waving a mighty paw towards the food laid out along the walls. "Please, help ye'rselves. I know I will," He adds with a wink, taking up his special plate and heading for the food.

Zinnia smiles a little better now, she looks around at the hares as she stands slowly letting Ciocan go first of course before she gets a plate and goes to get some food as well. She is greeted by a couple hares who seem to know whats best to try and who try to encourage her to try a scone or pastry. She smiles softly and gets some fish and some veggies, and gets a slice of what seems to be apple pie, and gets something to drink as well before going to sit back down.

Leon gets something to eat and drink as well. He is a bit surprised at how much some hares get and chuckles a little.

Adrian, of course, *piles on* the food on his plate.

Celina gets some salad, cheese, and cider. She then waves to some friends and the guests and sits down again.

 Flint is one of those hares. He has a plate of scones, a couple different pastries and leeks, some salad, a couple apples and a large cup of cider to help wash down his meal.

Windrose doesn't get anything right away, she waits on some of the other hares and rolls her eyes as a couple recruits fight over what they think is the best apple, she mutters “We have guests" And the two recruits frown and one decides to just slice the apple in half, ya case solved and they quickly sit down as the hare maid sighs and stands to get a plate and some salad and a drink, and a piece of some pie.

Leon sips his drink and waves as a hare waves to him and nibbles on some fish and salad he has on his plate.

Flint smiles as he glances over at Windrose and decides to sit by her, "Feeling better lass?"

Windrose nods her head to Flint, "I...yeah a little bit better." She smiles now; she is feeling better and being with friends helps.

Feanor walks into the feasting hall after his watch by the gate ends.  He's in a sour mood despite the festivities and he sighs as he goes to grab a plate.

 Flint stays beside Windrose as he eats his food, he smiles and waves to a passing recruit but otherwise is quiet as he enjoys the meal.

Zinnia quietly drinks her drink and eats some of her fish.  She has still be quiet since she has been here, but she has talked some, but still to very few so far.

Feast?! Yes please! Piffle's /absolutely/ prepared for a /feast/! That means you get to eat /more/ than you usually do right?! Well then, top-bally-hole because Piff's piling up her plate with whatever she can fit on it... And then whatever she can stack! The tower of vittles might lean but Piff's a Long Patrol /hare/! With a skill that she never seems to possess in other situations, the doe's dinner appears to defy gravity. A sprig of parsley on the very top completes her masterwork, and she begins to destroy the work of art. "Mmph! Grrumphle! Balffly guff!" She swallows her first bite. "Top marks to ol' cooky, eh wot!"

Adrian takes a seat at the big table, and starts feasting. Alas, if only his friend Piffle were here. Wait, what's that? Lo! Afar! It *is* Piff! He waves. "Ophelia! I didn't even see ya arrive, wot!"

Leon blinks, wow, it seems some of the hares here like to see who can eat the most, he chuckles a little as he sips some cider, "Hares eat a lot."

 Flint chuckles "We hare like food lad and thar be a lot of good food here."

Feanor takes some stew and heads to an isolated seat, sipping it slowly.  Bloody hell, why is every beast else so happy?

Windrose smiles and gets some cake and more salad; she also refills her cider and sits back down by Flint.

"Swiggle! 'S cuz I'm a bally stealthy well trained Private, doncha know! M' jolly stealth skills are a marhvel t' behold! I wager I could sneak up on a bally mole in a tunnel carryin' a bloomin' music box, doncha know!" Piffle winks, obviously joking, at Adrian before grabbing a cup of cider for herself and toasting to Leon and Flint's comment. "Eulalia, and all that, chaps! Hares and jolly good tuck! Let's eat the bally lot!"

From his spot at the head of the table, Ciocan can be seen eating as much (and more) as any hare, releasing an almighty laugh from time to time, pounding the table with an enormous fist when the conversation gets too much to handle through laughter alone. The young lord certainly knows how to carry on.

Feanor's left ear twitches at an odd angle at the uproar from the Badger Lord.  "Wonder what 'is Lordship is goin' on about?" he mutters to himself.  He continues eating.

Zinnia watches Ciocan with interest and smiles a little.

Adrian raises his own cup in agreement. "Quite so, wot! Blood 'n' Vinegah, 'n' all that bloomin' good stuff, yes." He munches on a pastry, then grins at the doe. "'S bally well good ta see ya here, wot. 'M glad ya made it..."

Leon blinks, well guess the Badger Lord does need to be able to keep up with the hares when it comes to feasts, he looks over at Zinnia and smiles when he sees her smile “Zinnia...your smileing, not seen that in a long time!"

Windrose just eats her food quietly, she sighs when the noise gets a little too loud a couple times.

Flint grins at a joke a nearby fighter makes and chuckles, he watches Windrose and offers her a smile.

Zinnia nods to Leon "I...am feeling some better. I mean I..." She takes a deep breath "I still miss papa,  and I always will some but he wouldn’t want me to stay sad, and I got to talk to Uncle Zee yesterday. He has papa's sword now and is keeping it safe."

Feanor continues eating as he glances over to Leon.  He's seen that mouse before, a few seasons back.  He feels dreadfully alone, with all the merriment around him.  He doesn't really have many beasts he talks to.

At the badger lord’s fist pounding, Piffle cannot help herself but give a cheer! Who cares if she couldn't hear what the joke was? The Lord's having fun, the guests seem to be having fun, so Piff's having fun! Besides, only good form to laugh at what your boss laughs at right? So the same for fist pounding on tables, then! "I'm bally glad I did too, Swig'! Miss all this?! Not a bloomin' chance or mah names no' Ophelia Pifflewood Pottinger! Glad t' see y' here too, ol' chap!" She raises her cup again, and raises her voice a little; another toast. "And here's to the bally Redwallahs! Bloomin' grand excuse for a feast! T'a for comin' all this way, friends! M' tum much 'preciates it, doncha know!"

Leon nods, "Yeah and you saw Zee?" He seems glad she did and nods "And I am glad he has Zork's sword, it's in safe paws that way"

Windrose can't help but smile at Flint, she eats some more salad and a scone as she starts to enjoy herself more, not so shaken up as she was last couple days.

Adrian laughs along with the rest of the hares, though, like Piffle, he did not hear the joke. "Aye, we all 'ppreciate it, wot!" He toasts again, because why not? "I say, Piff, it's no secret yer the life o' the pahty, wot. Chahmin' gel an' all that..." He stops himself before he starts singing her praises for all to hear in such a public venue...

Celina giggles a little and almost spills her cider, she manages to not spill it and smiles.

Feanor decides to go for it.  He stands up and drifts over to Leon, pulling up a chair.  He says nothing still, merely gazing at the mouse and seeing if he remembers him.

Zinnia smiles "I am starting to like it here and their library is very large"

"Life o' thah parhty, Swig'? Ain't no othah way t' be, wot?! I'm just jolly well enjoy'n' m'self at a celebration! Cuttin' bally loose an' all that! 'Bout bloomin' time we 'ad a spot of jollidom and anothah blinkin' feast! Saves on visits to the ol' doggery, doncha know! Jin' an' m'self got right ruddy soused an' ran up a bloomin' tome of a tab, I'd wagah!" Piffle /certainly/ seems to be enjoying herself, supping cider and devouring her tower of food bit by bit.

Windrose smiles "Feasts are nice, and always have the best food"

Flint smiles "Yes Feasts are nice...and..well so is..." Yeah he just leaves it at that and stuffs more food into his mouth.

Adrian grabs a pasty as it passes by on a tray, and tucks, talking between bites, "Mmph, mmph, Yes, indeed, wot...mmph... Jolly good vittles, yes. MMPH, MMPH."

Leon nods "Library sounds like a place you would find..." He then notices Feanor and nods a "Hello...there"

Celina yawns as she gets some more pie, a cookie, a scone or two, or three scones and eats them before heading on out of the room, she is tried so she heads to bed early but she did enjoy herself.

Feanor nods quietly to Leon.  "Do you remember me, chap?" he asks softly in between swigs of stew.

Leon studies the hare, "You were at..Redwall some seasons ago right? I was a novice then, not yet Brother and not yet Master Healer either but I am forgetting a name." Or did he hare offer a name way back then.

Windrose smiles as she stands "I..need to get some rest"

 Flint nods "Ok Windrose...goodnight lass"

Windrose nods as she gives Flint a hug and smiles "Night" And she heads off to bed.

"I'm Feanor C. Finaerel.  Now a Corporal, but back then I was a private.  I was one of two survivors of a platoon that got wiped out fighting for the Redwallers.  I was taken into the Abbey's care for a time, and eventually went back to the Mountain alone," Feanor says in a low voice.

Leon tries to think and frowns "Kiara...was the other, Jake's daughter....I remember that, 15 hares that Vladmir Stormfether beast killed them all"

Feanor nods.  "Kiara's gone.  Went crazy from the shock of it...never found her."  He sighs.  "On to more pleasant things.  How have the seasons been keepin' ye?"

Zinnia listens as Leon and Feanor speak, she will have to try and find that in the old records, well when she gets back to the abbey.

Piffle's ears twitch as she's almost down to the end of her substantial meal. She'll be ready for more soon, of course, but the mood of revelry takes her and she stands after her last bite. "Ey up chaps and chappesses!" She addresses anyone and everyone. "Anybeast know how to play a bally instrahment or sing a ditty? 'M wagah 'm not the only doe t' fahncy a jig, eh wot?!" Apparently the private's hoping to dance!

Leon nods "I became Brother and Master Healer...also had got married to Dorarose. I have two kids now and one is a novice learning to be a cook and the other is learning to be bell ringer"

Flint is half listening to those around him, He watches Windrose walk off after the hug and smiles.

"Good on ya," Feanor says, glancing over to the enthusiastic Piffle.  "Well, somebeast's energetic tonight, eh wot?"

Zinnia sips her cider and smiles some, she is smileing and enjoying the feast and even chuckles lightly at a joke she hears.

And Adrian is eager to oblige the doe. "Well then, Piff, may I have this dance, wot?"

Leon smiles, he looks at Zinnia and smiles as he still talks with the hare, "Yeah the feast is good and good for lifting sprits, our recorder has been depressed for many weeks since her father died, I am glad she is starting to feel better"

"Too bally right I'm enahgetic, sah!" Piffle positively beams at Feanor "How could a beast bloomin' well /not/ be! Jolly ol' feast an' all tha'!" Somewhere, an eager private- who was perhaps just waiting for such a request- has started a lively fiddle tune. "Ya may indeed, Swig!" Piff's grin is wide as she extends a paw to her fellow private.

Feanor nods, content merely to watch for now.  Despite himself, he begins tapping one paw in time with the music, letting the higher notes carry away his troubles for the time being. He nods as well to what Leon is saying.

Adrian takes Piff's paw. "Mah dance steps 're a little rusty, I warn ya... So don't laugh too hahd, wot."

Zinnia sighs “Wish Uncle Zee would of come for the fest but...well its ok."

 Flint looks over at Zinnia as if debating on saying he saw him earlier but decides not to worry since things did turn out to be ok. He then  gets some more cider.

Leon nods "I am sure he is fine"

"Y' alright Swig'! Follow m' steps an' don't step on me bally paws, eh?!" Piffle grins, doing a little quick jig in time to the lively fiddle music to give Adrian a taste of how she's about to dance. She raises an eyebrow to encourage him to follow suit.

Feanor continues to watch, saying nothing, but still tapping his footpaw.

Leon says, "This feast has been very nice"

Zinnia nods to Leon "I like it, the apple pie and scones are good and this feast is a little...fun too"

Adrian laughs a little, and watches the doe, matching her steps where he can. "Oy, if I step on ya paws, just punch me square in the jaw, wot! It'll only be fair!" The raised eyebrow is further incentive not to mess up, and he's determined to impress the doe.

"Come on Redwallahs! Do none o' y' chaps or chappesses dance? It's a bloomin' celebration, wot!" Piffle leans around Adrian to grin the guests, focusing for a moment on Leon and Zinnia. "'Ow 'bout you two, eh? Come 'ave a jolly jig?" The doe than gives a laugh at what Adrian suggests. "Right-oh! Just remembah, Swiggle, y' gave me bally permission, wot!" She nods approvingly at his attempt though. "That's the jolly spirit!" The doe twirls and hops, adding a little fanciness to her moves.

Zinnia shrugs "I..don't know..I may just watch"

Feanor watches, impressed by the footwork on the part of the duo of Long Patrollers.  He gives a quick whistle.

Leon smiles " Not really danced before either...”

Flint watches the dancing and sighs, he stands and heads off for the night, bedsides he did say he do   some watch duty. He heads off.

"Come on, join us!" Adrian calls out joyously, as gets somewhat better, though still obviously more rusty than his dance partner, his steps not quite as elaborate. "Haha, well, consider it my permission ta avenge yahself of my truly atrocious mannahs in tha past, wot?"

Feanor stands up, stretching.  "Good to see you again, chap," he says to Leon, before heading across the room to get himself  more food.

"Y'r choice, ol' beans, o' course but a good ol' jig's a bally grand way t' let loose an' celebrate, wot! Woohoo! And a celebration's jus' th' bally place t' start, eh wot!" Piff' grins as she tries to tempt the Redwallers, winks at Feanor for his whistle, and then pokes her tongue out at Adrian playfully still grinning and dancing. "Atrocious mannahs! Enjoy y'self! Past is the past for t'night, doncha know! 'S joy 'nd bally jolleries!"

Leon would dance but for now he stays seated, and he is a little tried.

Zinnia watches the hares and smiles more, watching the dancing cheers her up. She glances at the Badger Lord  but then looks back to the hares and sips from of whats left of her cider.

Leon  quietly watches the hares and then heads out into the hall, he ends up being asked to help a hare that ate too much…..is that possible…well he nods as he is a healer after all and most of the hares are in the dining hall or busy elsewhere.

Adrian is now emboldened. He attempts a more elaborate move now, hooking his arm through Piff's and swinging her around. "Yah got a point there, wot... By the by, did I heah ya say ya got drunk wi' Jin recently?"

There's an easy shrug from Piffle. If the Redwallers don't wish to dance, she's not going to insist as long they still seem to be enjoying themselves. "Wahoo!" Piffle calls out as she's swung around. "Y' said y' were a little rusty ol' chap!" Her tone is playfully accusing. "Oh aya! We bally well did! Daren't show m' mug 'round th' tavern f' a tad 'til I've got the coin t' pay off m' bloomin' tab, wot!"

Zinnia is smileing more and she does  seem to be enjoying the night.

Adrian laughs loudly at the accusation. "I did... But it's comin' back ta me, wot." The buck winks. "Oho, now? Oy, I just might have ta pay it off for ya, as a sign o' mah "undyin' Loyalty", wot?"

Piffle raises her eyebrows and widens her arms with some alarm. Without missing a beat, and as though it's a part of the dance, she gently taps Adrian on the nose. "Don't y' bally well dare, Swiggle! 's my bally tab an' I've t' pay the bally thing! Spend y' money on othah things, wot?!" A glance and a grin at Zinnia, and then back to Adrian- gesturing her head toward the badger. "B'sides! Righteous charter-bound Redwallahs an' all that, wot? Cahn't be settin' m'self as a bad example, ya know!"

Zinnia yawns as she is getting tried herself, but she feels the need to stay awake as she is the ambassador, she needs to stay awake!

Adrian grins wickedly at that. "Otah things, eh? Fine, I'll buy somethin' for mah fav'rite doe, whoevah she may be." He kicks up his heels, and spins Piff a second time. "Oy, don't think I've forgotten that k...i...s...s...."

"K-i-s-s?! I don't have a bally clue wotcha mean!" Piff' teases, trying to keep the color out of her face and keeping her eyebrows raised. "Y' should spend ya money wisely though, Swig! Doncha go spendin' it all on some'n else! Y' might bally well need it th' next day aftah all!" The doe catches the yawn out of the corner of her eye, and gestures at the badger maid again, subtly this time, and lowering her voice. "Methinks our guests are tuckahed out, wot!"

"Whoaho!" Piffle exclaims as she's spun and then dipped, her ears flop back and she can't keep the color out of her face now. She smiles up at the buck sheepishly, one eyebrow higher than the other. "Well now... Bally came back t' you right quick, this dancin' lark, didn't it?"

Adrian smirks. "Oh, y' don't, do yah?" Luckily, this entire time, he hasn't trampled Piff's paws even once. "I thnk yer right... Why don't we give our guest a finale ta remembah, wot?" He spins around the doe, and very nearly sweeps her off her feet, dipping her over with a flourish...

Zinnia watches the hares and chuckles softly.....the chair she is sitting in is soft, well maybe it won't be too bad to have a short nap...weather its short of not remains to be said. She may be woke up or wake up in the guest room....that’s unsure right now too but what is sure is she  did have fun today and smiled, even laughed a couple times so when she does fall asleep..least she is smileing for the first time in a very long while.
