FV:Tavern

Outside a sign swings on a rusty creaking frame above the doorway of the tavern depicting a faded painting of what appears to be three rather rich looking skeletons slumped over a table around a black chalice, perhaps such a thing could be taken as a warning but it doesn't appear to work on the locals. The noise within on a normal day is usually heard before the door is even opened and only rises in volume when one actually steps inside.

There are the typical qualities of a tavern within, from the bar to the chairs and booths and the odd drunk who never seems to move it's the little details which encourage a patron to pay his tab if he likes his fingers. One look at some of the staff or customers might give the impression but the room is decorated to the fiercer tastes with bones, mostly skulls cropping up here and there to fill a gap on a shelf or decorating the walls above the doorways, fireplace and bar, a pair of axes joining the one over the fire with some signs that they've been yanked off to join in a fight a couple of times. Some of the comfier chairs are lined with fur and very rarely one might be found with a few pointed bits of bone to decorate the back. Despite the looks there is entertainment and fun to be had, some form of music usually played on a small stage in the corner and at least one bouncer usually tries to keep the peace while beasts gamble, drink and be merry.

A small door behind the bar leads out the back to the kitchen and cellars while one wall has been opened up in a wide arch to increase the space off into the next room where what seems to be a wooden fence with gates on either end has been set up as a fighting pit as further entertainment and something to bet over.

Ferrets: Ferdinand, male.

Rats: Clarissa, female.

Wildcats: Zurrgg, male.

Foxes: Valerie, female.  Darkwatcher, male.

Crows: Deathwing, male.

Scioto is sitting in the tavern a little later than he usually is. He has a couple empty ale mugs beside him and is arguing with a ferret, "I said...for now I am in charge of this tavern till further notice." His tone of voice shows he has not had the best day so far.

Blisa enters the tavern, closely followed by Clarissa and Ferdinand.  Raising her eyebrows, the young cat goes over to her father.  "If my father says that he's in charge, then he's in charge.  Now please leave," she adds in a threatening voice.  The bodyguards, do their best to look menacing, and they actually do a really good job at it, too.

Scioto looks over as Blisa enters, the ferret looks ready to punch someone and then snorts as he storms out, but not before one last complaint "You tell Marek he needs to do his job and get back to his post then!!!" And they slam the door as they leave, the chieftain shakes his head as he mutters "yeah that's gonna be a bit hard to do"

The newly-entered trio watches the ferret storm out, then, in unison, they look back at the Chieftain.  "What was that all about, Dad?"  The young cat offers her father a hug, if he's ready for it.  Ferdinand narrows his eyes and adds his own question in a very polite tone of voice: "Why ith that going to be hard to do, Thir?"

Scioto is oddly quiet and reaches for the ale and finds it empty and shakes his head. He does allow the hug and seems to struggle with his next words, then again what he saw earlier he may end up telling the truth after all. "'Cause Marek is not here..." It leaves it at that for now, well its the truth he is not in the tavern anywhere.

"Oh.  Well, when he gets back, he'll sort everything out, I'm sure..."  Blisa says hopefully as she squeezes comfortingly.  Ferdinand, however, is not convinced.  As Clarissa goes to get some mint tea for the lot of them, the ferret wits down and asks casually, "What would make him leave in the middle of the day?  He doethn't theem to do that, uthually."

Scioto answers "Because he was attacked. And he...won't be back." He is unsure when, or even if the stoat will be back as he looked already dead to Scioto, not that the cat is a healer.

A tiny gasp can be heard from Blisa.  Her face falls as she tries to take in this news.  Ferdinand looks genuinely sad, and he is also at a loss for words.  Clarissa comes back with 4 cups of mint tea, honey, and a full teapot.  Setting it down on the table, she stes the cups in front of everyone and asks anxiously, "I say, wot 'appened?  You lot look like yer pet crab died."  The young cat chokes back tears and says as steadily as she can, "Marek...go a...attacked....an'..." The former searat looks to the Chieftain for confirmation, not wanting to believe her ears.

Scioto keeps a straight face and looks down, he is upset at the news.  He also is unsure what to say and so stays quiet. He will stay silent as Markalaway said to.

Blisa goes to bury her face in her father's shoulder.  She's not crying, she's just on the verge of it.  Ferdinand sighs deeply and sips his tea.  Clarissa sits down and scowls at her tea as she sips it.  They all seem to be at a loss for words.

Scioto seems...oddly glad of this, he is gonna have a seriously talk with the creepy undertaker soon, very soon but for now he speaks "Zurrgg is....is around, not sure where but he is the one whom attacked Marek. It also seems Zurrgg's head assassin is dead"

Blisa looks up at her father's face, jaw set and green eyes hard as a tear trickles down her cheek.  "We have to stop him!  Before he hurts anybeast else."  Ferdinand purses his lips.  "Do you think it would be withe for me to potht an additional guard for Mith Blitha when the ith outthide your home, giving her the protection of 3 guarth inthtead of jutht 2?"

Scioto sighs "An extra guard might be good.  I don't know where the fight happen, not in the village so it was somewhere outside the village"

Ferdinand thinks for a few moments, then nods.  "I'll be thure to do that...ath well ath keep Mith Blitha inthide the village wallth."  "Hey!"  the young cat scowls.  "As long as Basilisk is with me, I'd be okay!"  Clarissa starts to stir her tea.  "Do y'know of any witnesses, Cap'n Sir?" she inquires with a serious look at the Chieftain.

Scioto tilts his head "Witnesses for what?  I trust my sources and I can ask if that red ferret was killed or not"

Clarissa quickly backpedals.  "I meant of the attack, but if yer sources are trustworthy, then nevermind..." she takes a sip of her tea.  This is why she lets Ferdinand do all the questioning.  Blisa looks anxiously up at her father's face.  "Do /you/ think I should stay inside the village?  If you think I should, then I shall."

Scioto sighs "I am unsure, I do know he is most likely after another, and possibly me I do not know yet"

Blisa nods and goes to hug him again.  "Just be careful, okay, Daddy?  I don't want you to get hurt.  Maybe you need some bodyguards until all of this is over with."

Scioto returns the hug "I don't need bodyguards I can fight if needed, not to worry about me. That wildcat just surprised me the last time and I was in my office."

Blisa nods and goes to bury her face in his shoulder again.  "I just hope he gets caught soon....." she says sadly.  "Maybe you should learn how to use throwing knives...." she adds half-jokingly.

Scioto arches an eyebrow "Throwing knifes?" He goes to slowly stand "I need some air to think, ale is not helping"

Blisa hops off his lap and goes to hold his paw.  "I'll come with you!"  Her bodyguards dutifully follow.  Clarissa draws a knife and tosses it in the air, skillfully catching it.  "Aye, throwin' knives.  Ye can 'ide 'em up yer sleeve, then whip 'em out when yer enemy is least expectin' it."  They follow the Chieftain.... but then they get distracted by another bodyguard!  Whom Ferdinand 'volunteers' to go with them.  meanwhile, while that's going on....

FV:Path before the Gates

The path goes east and west here,as east leads back to the dirt road and west leads towards the gates of a village,.A large sign reads "Ferravale" as one looks towards the gates. Along the path are a few thin trees and a bush here and there. The path widens as you get closer to the gate and becomes less wide heading back to the dirt road.

Exits: [E]ast, [W]est to Gates

Zurrgg is on the side of the road calm and for once alone, no one in the brushes this time as he is simply waiting. He twirls a small blow pipe in his fingers as he watches the path.

Scioto paws in his pockets as he walks along the path, his mind on other things as he grumbles to himself, "I need a serious talk with that rat"

Zurrgg watches him and grins, aiming he uses the blowpipe. Its not poison, well a deadly one, it merely causes one to be temporarily paralyzed so they can't move or least finds it very hard to for maybe 15 minutes, enough time for a quick chat and time to gloat.

Scioto only feels the small pinch and growls as he goes to grab his sword and ends up stumbling   onto the ground. His arms and legs feeling heavy as his ears flatten, "Show your self now!"

Zurrgg smirks as he comes out of hiding "No need to shout so loudly your draw attention and that's not wise and not to worry your be able to better move in a few moments so it's enough time for me to leave a message." He smiles as he enjoys being the bearer of bad news "Marek is dead.  I killed him and even saved any beast the trouble of burying him" Or so he believes he is dead, he failed to notice the rat after he left. he goes on "I could easily end your life also right now but what's the fun in that, I want a fight" He chuckles as he circles him, "By the way...where is Zee Winters, see he killed Cayson, I have no clue how but he did, that clearly can't go unpunished, can it?"

Blisa, Ferdinand, and Clarissa had been following the Chieftain, but then they got stopped by Valerie the vixen.  After talking with her for a few minutes and deciding that her message wasn't really an emergency, Ferdinand the ferret 'volunteered' her to accompany them.  So they are only just now leaving the village...just in time to hear the Chieftain's shout.  They stealthily go into the trees on the side of the path and edge quietly closer to the other 2 beasts.  Clarissa the rat draws 2 of her 13 throwing knives.  Blisa's eyes widen as they come up to the scene, on the other side of the road from where the wildcat had been hiding.  Drawing her dirk and dagger, the young cat makes sure she and her bodyguards are hidden.  She can only hope her father is okay.....

Scioto hisses as his ears are still flattened, "Like I would tell you where the badger is and if he killed your head assassin I think I might reward him for it..." He is able to watch the wildcat but he can't stand or move his blade well at all. "What...you did won't go unpunished Zurrgg..."

Zurrgg eyes narrow as he uses his lightning speed and a blade is at the other cat's throat, but he just grins and  chuckles insanely, "One quick slice and you would be found dead, but as I said I want a fight with you at your best" He backs up "Now I have a victory feast with my group to attend, you can have some time to relax as next time your dead and I will place your head on a pike and set it in the village square.....and maybe I wreak some havoc on the village...or Mossflower, anyways have a pleasant eve" And he just walks on to the treeline and into the woods leaving the chieftain alone and that stuff should be starting to wear off now.

A crow flies overhead, and shrieks.  That's the signal!  An arrow shoots towards Zurrgg, from a hidden assailant.  Darkwatcher's going to make that gold here and now!

Blisa gasps as the sword is suddenly at her father's throat.  But then the wildcat just wanders off (after delivering a threat/message) and she rushes towards the Chieftain.  "Dad!"  She throws herself to the ground beside him as the arrows goes flying.  Valerie, who is right behind her, kneels down and goes to rest her paw on the Chieftain's shoulder.  "Sir, are you alright?"  She's a Healer, not a Warrior.  Clarissa  and Ferdinand, for their part, charge after the wildcat, then yell and stumble to the ground in fear as an arrow basically zooms right in between their heads, scaring the heebie jeebies outta them.

Scioto is having some trouble moving but he manages to nod "I...am ok just legs and arms feel heavy but it's wearing off somewhat"

Zurrgg actually jumps as an arrow barely misses him in the treelines, his voice is heard as he moves on as if nothing happen,"Your archer needs  practice..." And then he is further into the treeline, seems he came across some ale, for free, well free after one kills the delivery beast that is and that ale shall go nicely with  a victory feast or what he is calling one.

Darkwatcher curses loudly and storms out of the brush. "Dethwing," he snaps, "track him back to wherever he's going."  The crow shrieks again and flies off.  In disgust, Darkwatcher slings his bow over his shoulder.  He's _furious._

Blisa sheathes her weapons and ignores the mercenary for now.  "You sure you're okay, Daddy?"  Valerie relaxes some and looks around for the dart; she wants to analyze it and see if she can come up with an antidote.  Ferdinand bares his teeth angrily and releases his sabre hilt as he stands.  He's pretty ticked off, too.  Clarissa sheathes her knives and sighs.  Staying seated, she grumbles sarcastically, "Well, that went well, shipmates."

Scioto still has the dart in his lower arm and he slowly pulls it out, "It...made my legs wobbly and my arms heavy, he was right he could of easily killed me."

Darkwatcher growls to himself again and grips the hilt of one of his fighting knives tightly. It's not good to let his emotions get away from him like this, but he doesn't care.  He could've ended the threat there and then if he hadn't missed.

Valerie goes to take the dart and examine it.  Ferdinand sighs, rubs a paw down his face, then turns and offers the mercenary a grim smile.  "Good thot, there.  If he hadn't moved, you would've nailed him."  Blame it on the intended target.  It helps.  "If I had had my bow with me, he probably would be overkilled by now," he adds in an attempt to joke.  Blisa goes to hug her father, her paws shaking.  Clarissa digs out a canteen from inside her uniform jacket and holds it out to the Chieftain.  "'Ere.  Maybe some grog'll 'elp ye, Cap'n Sir."  Nothing like good strong seaweed grog to cure any and all ailments, eh?

Scioto shakes his head to the drink, he allows the hug and closes his eyes "I need a day or two off....and someone needs to go warn Zee, that Zurrgg is looking for him and I don't think its to chat and leave like with me."

Darkwatcher shakes his head. "I need to hone my skills again.  Last season I would've got him through the eyes. But thanks."  He gives a quick smile.

Clarissa shrugs with a smile and stows the grog back into her jacket; Ferdinand has a strict no-booze-while-on-duty rule.  Otherwise she would've taken a swig.  Valerie, noting how well the Chieftain is coming along and the fact that there is a mercenary here, stands and says, "I'll go tell Cerah that she needs to take a message to Redwall."  And she's off at a run, after getting a go-ahead nod from Ferdinand.  Blisa nods.  "Bandit and I can run the village while you take a break, don't worry, Dad."  Yes, she just 'volunteered' the Head Guard into helping her without his permission.  She's sure he'll be fine with it.  Ferdinand grins.  "No problem; I'm confident that you'll nail him next time."

Scioto nods and slowly goes to stand "Help me...back to the house" He will make it slowly and then get some needed rest.

Darkwatcher nods.  "Let's hope so.  And there _will_ be a next time.  He's mine."  With that, he heads over to where Zurrgg was to retrieve his arrow.
