Location: Somewhere in Southsward

Characters Involved: Zade, Darklett, Jove, Caesar, Talisin, assorted vermin

They're on their way back! Which is made much more difficult by Darklett's condition, of course. So they've been making not much progress and are now stopped for the night, settling down in a fairly snow-free clearing. Zade swings his back down off his back and sets down the bag of goldenwort he's been toting around. The otter glances toward Jove, wherever she got off to. "'ey girly, want t' fix us up a fire?" Aaand he looks for Darklett, eyes narrowed, just. You know. To make sure he actually /gets/ to the camp site without keeling over.

Darklett does indeed get there without keeling over, but it appears that he barely did so. He nearly collapses once they stop, not even waiting for a fire to sit near. The antidote worked, but the poison's still kind of working its way out of his system, it seems. He hasn't talked much either, but as Zade's been the leader on the way back due to his condition, this hasn't been much of an issue.

Caesar was following. He Always kept an eye on zade...since he only had one eye to keep on him..."She has a name you know" he says quietly before Sitting down. Why did he want to join them when he volunteered? no one knows.

Zade glances over at Caesar. "Heh, aye, bu' she doesn' min' bein' called 'girly'." And he gives the doe a smirky glance as she gets the fire started, then leans his spear against a rock. The bag with their food supplies is opened and he digs through for what's left of the bread, a little stale now, and breaks this in half, heading toward Darklett with a piece of it. "'ow ye 'oldin' up, Maj?"

"Don' mind 't a bit," Jove grins, getting the tinder going. "Wan' th'full thing, Ceese?"

Caesar hms and shrugs. "Always found it impolite to call a female Girly" he frowns slightly. Evil beast...polite? haha. Caesar's Evil...or at least he thinks he is...and He's polite

"Ah, well, tha's gentlemanleh of yeh, Ceese, but ah don' mind so no harm done, ey?" And Jove waggles her ears at the older buck, then wriggles her nose at the fire. "'Ere, you. Light up."

Darklett takes the bread from the otter, and just kind of holds it for a moment. "Hopefully this is all out of me by the time we get back, but yeah I'm holding up just fine." He takes a bite of the stale bread, chewing with the overanimation that is required for getting through stale bread crusts.

Caesar shrugs. "hey, if you dont mind being Called Girly, I wont say nuttin" he replies....he doesn't say anything else though...just stares at her...Why does he have to like every doe he sees? any female in general..finally his eye goes to the ground before yawning.

Zade snorts a little, and settles himself on a nearby rock. "Shoul' be, at th' rate we're goin'. An' /if/ yer still messed up like ye 're, well. Guess 'll jes' 'ave t' carry ye in through th' gates, ey?"

There's a noise from Jove that might be somewhere between an 'ooh' and a 'hee' if it didn't cut off with a "Oy!" as the tinder finally catches, and quickly. Jove blinkblinkblinks, looking surprised at the little blaze now going, and starts adding knots of dried grass for kindling, then bits of twigs and logs.

Caesar goes and looks at Jove more...more...then to Zade. "sorreh I threatened yeh there after we left..." he says. "bout Killin' yah and all"

Darklett grins, at least halfway. "The only way you'll be carrying me is if I'm /dead/ and I don't plan on that happening..."

"Travelers..." Whispered somewhere in the forest. "Got packs o'stuff, wonder what's in 'em, hee, hee, hee..."

Zade smirks a little. He /sees/ you eyeing Jove, Caesar. "'ey," he starts gruffly, about to say something, the bread on its way to his mouth. Then the otter's roundish ears twitch. "... dammit."

Jove does not have her flirt-dar going; she's concentrating on the fire. At Zade's swearing he perks her ears up and looks about, suddenly alert, nose twitching as she listens for more sounds. "Eh." She turns her big eyes on the bigotter.

Caesar eyes all the females he meets so its no surprise to him if Zade see's him or not. He just gives Zade a nod, then goes back to staring...but he does look away every now and then.

Zade rises, and in two quick strides he reaches his spear. "Arrigh', kiddies, c'mon ou' t' Uncle Zade," he aims into the woodsy area surrounding them, and gives Caesar a look. "An' she ain' yer personal eyecandy, jes' so ye know."

Earperk. Darklett sits up, the bread in his paw forgotten. He starts for his feet, taking a few seconds to get to them.

"There're only a couple warriors... Mostly abbeybeasts..." There's lots of murmuring from a different direction now. "Abbeybeasts, yes... Yes, easily overcome..."

Caesar ear's lay down as he glares at Zade. "hm?" he asks, pretending he wasn't watching Jove..

Zade is now paying no attention at all to Caesar. He stands near the fire, sort of in the middle of the small camp, looking around, ears twisting. The spear is in one hand; he stoops, picks up an apple-sized rock, and hurls this into the woods toward the most recent voice.

Caesar hms a bit and finally clicks there's something. He draws his sword and stands. "Something up?" he asks very quietly.

"Ehh, hup." Up goes Jove. She dusts off her paws and saunters over to Darklett, all easy and casual-like, with a little grin and a nod to him - hey, no worries. "Aren' /they/ grandstandin' a bit," she sniffs, and twitches her black-tipped ears. The stubby doe draws her saber in a smooth, practiced motion.

Darklett's paws go down to his knives, watching Zade. A large gulp bulges his throat for the moment. He glances at Jove, ears quivering unsurely.

"It's time to- urk!" The rock seems to have struck true on one of the murmuring beasts, and there's quiet. Before long, though, a group of rats, foxes, stoats, ferrets, and weasels come into faint view, each armed to some degree. One of the rats is clutching at his eye, presumably where he'd been struck by the rock. All in all, there're about eleven of them, and they don't look nearly as stupid as the fox they'd met on their journeys earlier. "Should we use force...? Or are you willin' to hand o'er the bags nice and peaceful like, woodlanders...?"

Caesar laughs his Evil laugh as he sees the rat clutching his eye, slowly walking near Zade, just to be supportive. he says nothing though, his sword still gripped tightly. too bad he doesn't have his whip anymore.

Zade steps forward - a single step, putting him in front, big form tensed as he grips his spear in both hands. "Do I /really/ look 'll 'at peaceful t' ye?" he growls at the one who spoke, upper lip curling back, showing his long canine teeth.

Jove is just.. Jove, and while she blinks rapidly at the sudden appearance of half a score of vermin, seems relatively calm. "Well, y'realleh wan' thi' stuff?" she asks the nearest - a scruffy-looking weasel with a pair of dirks - with surprise. "Stale bread an' stinkin' fruit, couple of watah gourds? 'Magine yeh c'n find bettah souveniahs then tha'."

Darklett takes out his melee knives, dipping his head and trying to look unafraid towards the vermin. He does step back, though, so as to not be very close to the line of vermin.

Caesar slowly glances at them. "You may want to turn around and leave, while you still can turn around and leave.." he smirks to the Vermin. "you dont want to see that thing fight" he points To Zade.

"I was hopin' ya'd say that. Been too long since I've 'ad a fight..." The rock-struck rat, apparently the leader, draws his blade, a deadly-looking scimitar, and all the others draw at the same time, approaching the group. "Last chance to just hand 'em over, girly," another vermin, a ferret, speaks, with a little menacing thrust of his spear towards Jove.

"Oh, 'as 't been, now?" Zade responds in a snarl, teeth displayed. "Well /allow/. /Me/." And with a growl he lunges forward, spear sweeping in a downward arc, the blade of it thrust toward the chest of the rat leader.

Caesar gasps! Jove is under attack! Protect protect protect...he slowly Wanders over, next to Jove. "Touch her, and Die" he says...not seeming in the least scared...or even caring about anything at the moment.

"Bloomin' cheek!" Jove sniffs, tapping the spear point aside with her saber. "Ey, Zade!" she calls across to the otter, keeping her weapon in 'guard' position and her eyes on the advancing group. She's positioned herself squarely - or roundly - in front of Darklett. "We /coul'/ jes.. ah, buggah. Tha's th'plan, Ceese!"

Major Darklett seems to be wrestling with something in his mind, his grip tightening and loosening alternately on the knives in his paws as he glances over the gathering vermin. And then Jove steps in front of him. This both relieves and injures the hare, apparently, but he steps back, hoping to keep himself back in case somebeast needs him.

Caesar still stands next to Jove...in fact he moves in front of her! Aww, he's putting himself in harms way for her..."Why dont you just Turn round' and go..eh? Makes my job much easier"

The rat leader grins and jumps to the side to avoid Zade's spear as the fox right behind him slashes out with his sword. The rest of the band start to circle around their small group. A particularly poorly armed weasel jumps towards Jove with a dagger, trying to slash at her face.

Zade slams a foot into the ground, halting his forward momentum rather effectively. He jerks around sideways, bringing the spear in a slashing motion toward the fox's blade, to counter the attack and possibly disarm the tod.

The Redwallers, who'd been sort of gathered together in fright of the vermin, have put their strongest forward. Darklett groups himself back with them so as to not endanger anyone on the front lines, so to speak. At the first sign of attack, though, the circling vermin menace closer, some of the edgier Abbeybeasts swinging out with quarterstaffs in warding shots. Darklett stays on the defensive, not wanting to throw himself out there with... Well, let's face it, no backup.

The leader hadn't given up on Zade yet, his eyes focused on his opponent. The fox's saber goes flying away, leaving him unarmed, but the rat tries a hard chop at the otter's side with his heavy scimitar cutting through the air at a high speed.

Caesar doesn't note the poorly armed Weasel. No, he's focused on the Ferret with the spear. "No? Good then, means I get to kill you myself" he goes to grab the spear, just below the sharp point, before Attempting to....'Disarm' the ferret...Alot easier to fight with out an arm ^^

"Y'know," Jove pipes up behind him, "ah'd say th'same thing t'yeh. Bloody stupid formation!" The poorly armed weasel is soon a poorly armed weasel, because the doe's saber flicks up and out, taking advantage of the longer reach to slice through tendons and bone before stepping forward to deliver a thrust to the gut.

The weasel goes down quickly, clutching at the severed nub of an arm. The ferret on the other hand, freely lets go of the spear and draws a dirk and a throwing dagger. He throws the dagger quickly at Caesar's chest. Once two stoats saw how quickly the doe could move, they advanced a little more cautiously, their swords up.

Caesar blocks the dagger with the spear head he had still in his Paws. "come on, do better then that" he laughs. he throws the Spear away and Grins. "Come on...Come on..What are ya? A ferret or a mouse?" Caesar seems to be having fun.

Zade twists and brings his spear up vertically, so the rat's scimitar slices into the thick polearm. It really doesn't do much. He shoves one blade of the spear into the ground, which is sturdy enough for the spear to hold is weight as he kicks out toward the rat's chest, then sidesteps, turns, and stabs into the side of the fox's neck with his knife held in his other hand.

Darklett lashes out with one of his knives, slicing at the paw of a sword-wielding fox as it ventured in for a slash at a Redwaller. That Redwaller lifts up his quarterstaff to block, but... Obviously not a trained fighter, the sword still slashes right across the mouse's forehead, causing him to screech in pain and fear, dropping his weapon and crumpling to the ground. The fox's paw is cut, and he drops his own weapon, and before he can react his throat's got a dagger sticking into it. Darklett shoves the fox into a couple of the other vermin to delay their attack.

Zade's rat gets kicked, stumbling down to his behind but scrambling to his feet quickly. The fox isn't lucky at all... Not knowing what to do without a weapon, he kind of raises his paws in futility, getting his neck run through with a knife, felling him instantly. The rat is back on Zade, though, unleashing a long series of quick, hard strikes with his scimitar, crossing the otter's chest, swiping at his leg, chopping at his side, all in variance as the large sword is handled... Surprisingly expertly by the vermin leader.

Jove is more concerned with keeping herself between the vermin and the clustered Redwallers. There, though - an opening. With a little "Heh," she bounces forward toward one of the stoats with a feinting towards his blade, then a stab toward the other's side.

The ferret grins and stomps on the butt of the spear that was still on the ground since Caesar only held the spade, trying to make the hare drop it and cut himself. A fox with a saber, seeing that the ferret was out-armed, steps in beside his cohort, blade at the ready. The two stoats on Jove seem to move as one, like they had fought in pairs before. They both track the feint and move their swords to block. One says, "Low," and the other nods. The one that said 'low' swings quickly at neck level, and his partner goes for a fast thrust towards Jove's gut. They both pull back quickly whether their attacks succeed or not, still on the defensive.

Caesar doesn't drop it... In fact, he sets his sword between his Teeth and grabs the pole with both paws. He Uses his knee as a table thing before Trying to knock the Ferret over...Jove gets a glance before Caesar Draws his dagger with one paw, Regardless of The Ferret's standing or not, and throws it at the stoat aiming for her neck...too bad he got rid of most his daggers...that one he kept...Why didn't he keep all of them...then he realizes he's holding onto a spear...That drops...and lands.

Zade wields the spear one-handed, hand gripping the shaft of it, bracing the polearm along his forearm as he blocks the attack with almost casual tilts of the big weapon first one way, then another. The spear takes the abuse without even a nick to show for it. Zade backs up, long steps, keeping some distance between himself and the rat. He aims the spear in a thrust toward the rat's ribs between swings of the scimitar, takes a wide sidestep, and slashes the blade of it at neck-level.

"Rrrgh..." Darklett confronts another swordrat while two Redwallers get to helping their fallen mouse friend. He stops the sword with both his daggers, struggling to push the sword away harmlessly. He can't bring himself to attack, though, his standing kind of uneasy as he stays defensive, just hoping for the best. Another Redwaller falls, impaled by a swift spear strike to the chest.

The rat attacking Zade has to take a respite from doing that, the thrust of the spear followed by the slash getting a little too close for comfort. He raises his scimitar in defense, just... Staying where he is. While he's standing there, though, another rat jumps up from behind Zade and tries to bury a dagger into his shoulder, holding onto that dagger should it succeed and latch on to the otter with a vicious bite to his /other/ shoulder.

The one that noone had really been paying attention to was the weasel off to the side. He has a crossbow, lined up on Caesar. As soon as the ferret falls and starts to roll aside, a -twang- is heard and the bolt goes strait for Caesar's chest. The fox, seeing that his friend was about to get a dagger thrown at him, slashes at Caesar's throwing arm to prevent the throw. The cheeky hare must go down!

Well, this is a problem, and Jove announces it with a muttered "Buggah." Her saber comes up as she twists to the side, knocking the neck-level blow aside with a jarring metallic noise, but the spear impales itself in her side, and the doe's eyes crease in pain, ears slicking back. "Hngh-" She grabs the spear behind the head, both to pull it out and pull the wielding stoat forward to deliver a good kick in a rather unladylike place. All right, /the/ most unladylike place. It's practically the definition of it.

The dagger bites into Zade's shoulder, but this new rat isn't given the opportunity to get a good hold - or really bury it as far as he'd like, or that matter. The spear is doubled-ended and with a short, deep growl of annoyance, the otter shoves it backward, the shaft pressed to his side as the blade sinks into the attacking rat's belly, impaling him deeply. The otter twists, whips the spear around, and tosses the rat off into the trees with a swinging motion.

The stoat that was kicked groans and falls to his knees, depending now on his friend to help him while he was unable to defend himself. The other stoat, slashes his sword down towards Jove's leg, the one that did the most cruel thing imaginable.

Darklett's ears pin back, and he sees another Redwaller, a squirrel, losing a battle against a much bigger stoat. He uses all the strength he can muster to leap that way, burying both knives into the stoat's body, killing him. The squirrel backs away, cowering behind the next in line, while the major stands up just in time to defend a blow with a mace, holding up the weapon long enough for a quarterstaff strike from a mouse to hit the stoat in the ribs.

The spear-impaled rat is dead before he hits the ground, his dagger left in the otter's shoulder. The one that's still alive, though, attacks Zade again, slicing upward at the wrist that isn't defended by the spearshaft.

Caesar's dagger is knocked out of his hand..When he heard the twang, he side stepped the Arrow...not totally though, it tares his jerkin and his chest gets a long thin cut. "unnh...That was my Favourite Jerkin...that was my only Jerkin" He draws his sword and  turns to attack the beast with the crossbow. "no one cuts my Jerkin!"

Zade jerks the arm away and gets a long grazing slice up along his forearm; at least he still has the hand! The spear digs into the ground again at an angle, holding some of the otter's weight, helping him to balance as he twists his hips and lifts one leg in unison, knee up, aimed in a strong blow against the rat's middle. The foot drops back, his weight pitches in the other direction, and he slashes at the leader's face with his knife.

The fox also heard the twang, and grins. When the hare starts to advance on the one with the crossbow, he takes that opportunity to slash quickly at Caesar's side. The ferret had gained his feet again, and was a little upset and embarrassed about having been taken down. While the fox slashes, the ferret goes for a stab. The weasel with the crossbow starts to reload, but the twine snaps from the weather. He throws it  down and turns to flee into the woods because he had no other weapon.

Caesar frowns as the beast with the crossbow flees. "Come back here you spineless Coward!" he shouts. With a cheeky grin on his face he turns, only to get slashed in the side and Stabbed in the middle. "Unnhhh" He falls over quickly. Not dead...Just in a crud load of pain .

It's a fast kick, the equivalent of a sucker punch, and Jove can feel the rush of air on her sole as she pulls back with one paw clasped to her bleeding side. She swings her saber out - a movement that garners a nosetwitch and ear flick - at about where neck level should be on the moving stoat. A few inches up or down won't make much of a difference.

The ferret with the dirk takes that opportunity to leap onto Caesar, stabbing down with his blade, laughing crazily. The fox steps in a second later, stabbing downwards at Caesar with his sword. The weasel quickly disappears into the trees.

Caesar maybe down, but he's not out. he grabs the wrist of the ferret, and pushes upward, Resisting. The Fox also gets blocked, this time with Caesar's Sword. "Want some o'me? Want some O'me?" he goes to spit in the ferret's face to blind him, Before attemting To smash his face off the Ferret's.

If the stoat didn't swing down at her leg, he might have been able to block her attack. Instead he blinks as his throat is cut in a spray of blood. He wavers for a second, then falls down. His buddy barely starts to get to his feet. A kick from a hare didn't feel good.

The stoat that'd been hit in the side before didn't waste too much time attacking again, pulling his mace back and swinging it once again at the major. He ducks. The mouse that'd struck the stoat wasn't quick enough. With a blow like that to the head, the mouse is instantly fallen. Darklett grimaces, running on adrenaline as he runs the stoat through with both daggers again. That seems to be it from the group attacking them, and... That's good, because they've taken losses, and Darklett doesn't look like he'd been able to keep that up.

"Whhf!" The rat leader doubles over, and... /barely/ avoids the knife strike. Instead, he manages one desperate hacking slash at Zade's side, the one outstretched due to the knife swipe at the rat's face.

A bellowing roar of anger is heard off in the forest, followed by a sharp scream of horror and pain that is quickly cut short. Then silence.

"Eh," Jove mutters; with that pain in her side, she's not much in the mood for jollities. Anyway, Sidney isn't here to appreciate them. So she just takes an angled step and brings her saber down again to decapitate the just-rising stoat, or more charitably, put him out of his misery. The doe takes a quick look around the battlefield, ears twitching at the.. sound. "'Ey Majah!" It has a questioning note.

A grating noise comes from Zade as the scimitar slashes at the base of his ribs. That is not a nick; he actually twitches a little as he steps back, vest cut right through, blood spilling out from the injury. The spear is gripped in both hands; he ditched the knife. The point of it is aimed at the rat's chest in a hard forward thrust.

The stoat didn't feel a thing, well, he felt his nethers. But that stopped quickly enough as his head goes rolling off of his shoulders.

The ferret didn't expect to be attacked, he figured the hare was done. He is barely blinded from the spit, but the headbutt to the snout did the trick just as well making his eyes water up. The fox continues to try and strike at the hare, now going mad with rage that the buck wasn't dead yet.

There's only a brief light of victory in the rat leader's eyes before it's snuffed out, the scimitar falling from his grasp as he's impaled on the spear, claws grasping at the weapon only for a moment before he lets out his last sigh, dead.

Caesar Doesn't Die! He has to Live so his Salad thing Catches on >.> The Buck giggles like a School girl, Pushing the Ferret off of him before Moving in the wrong moment, and Direction.. "Aghhh!" he shouts out...The blade hit him...And it his him right in his good eye...its not so good anymore. It's not totally blinded but It now only sees things with in a Big Black Area..."Help would be nice" he cries out...he's not one to cry for help either.

Darklett's ears flick, and he tries to shrug off the couple of Redwall Abbey beasts that have knelt down near him to make sure he's okay. But he can't really do that like he'd be able to at full strength, so he's sort of surrounded, and slightly irked. That scream from the woods is concerning, though, and he manages to stand up with the mice distracted. "At the ready..." His weapons are up, but not quite all the way, like they weigh ten pounds too much.

The ferret is rolled off of the hare, and holds his face in his paws for a long moment, his breathing coming out gurgled.

The silence in the forest doesn't last too long though. Soon footsteps and heavy breathing could be heard coming towards the scene of the fight right before a large badger charges into the small clearing. He stops and looks around, fury lighting his eyes. He has a bloody axe in one paw, the claws of his other covered with blood, and what could only be assumed as the flesh of another beast. He catches sight of a fox striking down at a prone hare and lets out another yell, throwing his axe, which embeds itself completely in the fox's back. The fox falls limply over Caesar.

Caesar Sits up once He can, one paw gripping at his now, Mostly bad eye. The blade in the Bucks paw swings at the foxes legs just after the axe hit him in the back. "Sure...I could'a killed em myself" he says loudly, before his vision goes red...He can see, not very well..He finds the Ferret, and slowly lifts him up, head butting him again before finally falling over himself in a lot of pain. A dagger in his stomach and a huge Cut along his side...aside from his now Not-so good eye.

"Sah," Jove crisps, taking a step to help Caes- oh, well, a big badger got him first. "Cor," the doe comments.

The ferret doesn't put up much of a struggle, especially after his nose is broken even more. He now just lays in the snow, moaning in pain and holding his face.

Zade grits his teeth as he shoves the spear forward, then angles it backward and up, causing the leader's body to crumple off the end of the blade. Teeth still bared, the otter glances around the clearing. "... 'ey Maj, ye dead?" he calls out toward Darklett, bringing his hand up to his side.

Caesar is not that heartless. He will kill the Ferret quickly. the sword comes up and puts itself right above the ferret's eye. "Remember the name Caesar...Last name you'll ever hear..." he drives the sword into the Ferret's eye, killing him quickly...brains are such fragile things. Then finally, he pulls himself up and puts a paw on the dagger still in his Stomach. "Oy...thats going to leave a mark...." he doesn't pull it out though, just applies pressure to stop the bleeding. Darn he wishes he could see properly. So he Stumbles unknowingly towards Jove.

"Not even injured," is his response, though Darklett's paying attention to the sudden badger when he offers it. He falls to his knees, cleaning his knives and putting them back in his belt. "...We've got a couple dead over here, and one injured. How're you doin'?" He asks, generally.

The badger looks around, looking desperately for something else to kill. Too bad there wasn't anything else. He looks quickly at the others, his anger starting to dissipate. Brown eyes scan the group of woodlanders. Then he makes his way over to the fox to retrieve his axe, which comes out with a sick, sucking sound. "Been better," is all the badger offers at this moment. He's more focused on cleaning his axe and claws off with snow.

"Bloody brillian', mate, ne'er been better," Zade shoots back, his upper lip drawn back in a sneer as he touches the deep wound on his side, just at the base of his ribcage. His fingers splay and he presses his palm into it, head down, watching the dark red pitter-patter onto the snow.

Caesar doesn't even make it to jove..."Oh bloody 'ell" with that, he falls to his knees, falling flat on his stomach...that only Drives the Dagger into him further, making him grunt as it goes deeper.

"Well 'nough," Jove answers, taking a step to help Caes- oh, well, he fell down. "'Ell," the doe comments.

Soon enough, Redwallers see Caesar's condition, and two of the healers that came along scurry to his side, rolling him onto his back. One of them has wide eyes as he sees Caesar's condition, but the other carefully works on extracting bandages and healing supplies from his travel pack. And the two together go to work on the wounds.

Talisin finishes cleaning his weapons off and stands up, putting the axe back in his belt. He looks around the group, noting that they had healers. Must be from the abby. For the moment, he just remains quiet.

Caesar winces in pain as they work. The dagger is probably going to hurt like heck when its pulled out..."You know..." he looks to Jove. "Perhaps a victory kiss would be in order?" he tried. He's hurt, but he's still himself. He winks...or is he blinking? Well...at least he didn't lose his eye entirely..

And then she promptly moves off at top (reduced) speed to see to.. bandages! In packs! Because there's a lot of them about, none with anything worth stealing unless you have a penchant for poisonous thorns. "Ahh, hah," is all she says. Spear in the side. Better than a cold shower.

The major finally stands up again, leaning on a squirrel to do so. He turns to face Zade, nearly stumbling towards him. "...You're injured," he states. "We need a healer over here...! Zade, sit down."

Caesar frowns slightly as there is no Answer. "bah..." he grumbles. "would have been really nice..." the buck mutters as the healers finally, slowly Extract the Dagger. "Unnnnhhh...Painful..."

Talisin looks at each beast when the speak. His eyes pass over the otter, 'Zade' he thinks. He did recognise the Long Patrol uniforms, but he didn't know their ranks. He steps over towards the one giving the most orders, figuring him to be in charge. "Anything I can do?" he asks Darklett.

Zade narrows his eyes at Darklett's face, and a broad smirk draws across his muzzle. "Ach? .. see, wasn' that /fun/ Maj.." There's a gruff chuckle in the back of his throat. His spear is dug into the ground, and he's leaning on it. More and more it looks like that's the only thing keeping him upright. The scimitar cut deep, and so far the bloodflow isn't wanting to let up. The otter's gaze narrows on Talisin. "... heh, yeah. We ain' 'ad a badger wit' us th' 'ole time, 'ave we, Maj..?"

It turns out, one of the healers working on Caesar is distracted by Darklett's shout for a healer. The one extracting the dagger is left to do just that, while the other rushes to the major, the young dormouse covering his muzzle with his paw at the sight of the dripping blood. Yeah, real helpful.

Caesar watches Jove as his vision fades, his eye bleeding out more and more. Maybe he is going to lose the eye...That would be bad...he couldn't watch the females anymore! That thought alone would make him cry...

Darklett turns to Talisin. "Know anything about field dressing?" The major grabs the healing supplies from the worthless dormouse healer and lumbers over to Zade. "Zade, get on the ground so we can bandage you up, alright?" He's ordering. But... Yeah! Can't sound commanding when you're still suffering from the aftereffects of being poisoned.

Talisin shakes his head, "No. If you asked me to smith you something, I could." He follows Darklett over, "How hard can it be?"

The otter grunts, ears giving a mild flick as Darklett ... orders him, or something. He looks disoriented. This may or may not be because there's actually someone here larger than him. "... don' ye touch me, ye o'erlarge .. skunk ... thing," he mutters distractedly at Talisin. "I can take ye."

Talisin tilts his head to the side with a confused look on his face. Then he gets a mischevious grin, "Maybe when you aren't weakened by blood loss my otter friend."

Zade hisses! Like a cat or something, displaying his teeth.

"Zade!" Darklett barks out, surprisingly loud. "Sit! Down!" The major growls, anger definitely snapping.

Talisin smirks at Zade. Not in a malicious manner, but more in a playful one. Then he looks at Darklett, "I'm Talisin."

Caesar finally is patched up, so he crawls over next to the others and sighs as his vision is gone totally. "Bloody heck...."

Zade grunts and his muzzle aims toward Darklett. ".. /ye/," he grits out, about ready to snap back the same as he always does. They're very snarky at each other for all that they're good friends. The otter doesn't actually manage any further words because he tries to take a step toward Darklett. This moves his weight away from the spear, and there's ... nothing holding it up. Not his legs, certainly. The otter stumbles and sits down hard, kind of colliding with Darklett as he does so.

Darklett very nearly falls when he's stumbled into, but somehow he keeps his composure. "...Talisin. Great. Here. Apply pressure to Zade's side while I work on bandaging him. Quick. Now." Apparently no time for introductions. Darklett's obviously running on fumes.

Caesar slowly and very painfully removes his eye with a dagger, crying out as he does so. The eye gets thrown away as a healer comes up, smacks him for doing that and starts to bandage his eye. There...blinder then a bat. No more Females to look at for him. Sigh..

Talisin nods and kneels down, putting a large paw out to hold pressure on Zade's side. Couldn't really expect much from a beast that really only knew to put pressure on wounds and keep them clean.

Zade hisses again, with less enthusiasm. "'allo mister /skunk/," he mutters, muzzle turning in the other direction as the badger applies pressure.

Talisin frowns and puts a little more pressure than necessary, he didn't appreciate the skunk comment.

Caesar did get a good look.."He's a badger you otter idiot" he grumbles out with a sigh.

Zade snaps his jaws at Talisin, teeth showing. He doesn't appear to have heard Caesar. "Arrigh' ye big ugly bugger, 'ands /off/, please-an'-thanks," he mutters at Talisin.

"...Thank you, Rahier..." Darklett finds thread and needle in the supplies. Time for stitches. "Zade, shut /up./" He almost growls, brushing at the badger's paw to get it away. And then poke goes the needle through the fur on one end of the wound. And then the other. The stitching begins.

Talisin moves his paw when, and only when, Darklett motions that he wants it moved. He still stays kneeling so he could hold the daft otter down if need be.

Caesar would watch but he cant. So his huge ear's turn in towards the sounds, listening to see if he can picture whats happening"

Zade gives a faint growl at the back of his throat but it's not aimed at Darklett. His hands brace against the ground, keeping himself upright as the Major works on stitching cut the ... rather large, gaping injury.

Talisin watches the hare work on the otter with moderate interest. Otherwise, he remains quiet so Darklett could concentrate.

Someone who knows what they're doing should probably be watching Darklett, too. Because the way the major kind of zones out as he works on stitching the otter's wound might be concerning. It's a wonder how he's kept himself from just collapsing.

Caesar slowly sighs and glances over to where the badger, otter, and hare are. "So..How is he eh?" he asks, meaning Zade

Zade is as zoned out as Darklett; probably moreso. He flinches at first and then no longer seems very aware of the needle working at his side. Sounding groggy he mutters at Darklett, "I 'aven' .. 'ad th' much fun 'n /ages/..."

Talisin has no idea what he's looking at. For all he knows Darklett is going a great job at the stitching. Darklett himself on the other hand, is starting to look pretty bad. "You alright....uh....hare?" he asks, then he waves at one of the other healers to come over to finish it up. He glances down at Caesar, "He's fine."

Caesar sighs and nods. "Good good...I'm glad..." he says. Wow...losing his eye has changed his outlook on Zade.

"I'm fine." Darklett grinds his teeth together, and when the healers come over he doesn't bother stopping his work. He's halfway through, and he's not doing a /bad/ job, might as well let him finish, right? "It's Darklett. Major Darklett Fletchpaw."

Talisin ahh's and nods at the introduction. He shrugs though, if that major wanted to risk hurting his friend more because of his pride, it didn't really affect Talisin much. The major certainly knew himself better than Talisin did.

"/Th'/ .. Maj' Darklett Fletchpaw," Zade corrects the hare, and hisses. "Ach, ye 'bout done?" he mumbles at Darklett.

"Almost," is Dark's response, threading the needle through again, tightening the stitches that much more. The wound's closing, at any rate. "Don't move," he orders, whether the otter'd been moving or not.

Zade has his teeth slightly bared, but he doesn't move - which isn't so much obeying Darklett as not having been doing so in the first place.

Talisin continues to watch, figuring that it would be best to stay quiet until all of this was done.

Soon enough, Darklett's tying off the stitches, sighing and sitting back. Okay /now/ he's crashing. "Talisin. We're on our way back to the Abbey and we need your help. Think you can carry some bags for us on our way to Redwall?" He's slumping backwards slowly as he even says this. Or more mumbles.

Talisin looks off in the direction that he thinks the abby is in and sits quietly for a moment. It was pretty much on the way. He looks back to Darklett and nods, "Don't see why not."

Caesar got really bored. the pain was almost gone now, thanks to the fact the nerves in his eye were gone now too. "When your done answering that, think you could get me my staff too?" He asks. "Round here somewhere"

Once the stitching is done, Zade has enough energy to tug his spear out of the ground and lay it out alongside him. He then sprawls off to the side, which ends him up sort of stretched out alongside Darklett, maybe an arm's reach away from him. The otter takes slow, heavy breaths, eyes mostly shut. "... righ'. 'm .. goin' t' get me some shut-eye," he informs the Major.

Talisin looks at all of them, "I don't think that it would be a good idea for any of you to move until you get some rest. I'll keep a look out for you while you sleep."

Caesar laughs at Zade. "Wish i could do the same" he smirks a bit. his eyes are now always shut...so much for shut eye. The buck slowly lays down and glances to the sky, bandages hiding his now empty eye socket, as he pictures a nice stary night.

"Think... It'd be best for... me too." It's amazing how Darklett hadn't already passed out. He straightens up, standing slowly and heading towards the fire. Hey, the fire's still going. And he just collapses near it, probably asleep before his whole body even hits the ground.

Zade doesn't make any response - he's already passed out. Asleep or unconscious, it doesn't really matter.
