Intresting Late Morning On The Dirt Road

Kage had spoken with a small few beasts to find Smokefur, he simplely wanted to chat with his new=friend= and it was mentioned  check the dirt road,so that's where the wildcat went and he did want to visit Redwall Abbey.

Oz had decided he would slip out, he wasn't sure  still what he wanted to do in life. Bellringer? Help take care of the bees? Become one of those beasts who entertain with music and singer? One thing he did know is he didn't want to take up his father's blade.Yes he got it out of the trunk it was in but only cause he figured seeing a badger with a weapon would help make sure no one with evil plans came near him.

Smokefur walked along,debateing now if leaveing the Defenders Base was a good idea, of course there was no base now it was destoyed and half  gone, a part still standing fell in  that early morning.He sighs "This is the worse day ever, but I am alive still so that's good.I could..live in the northlands or maybe southlands, get some money and a boat to the sea coast even....but where to..."He then spots the badger and  smiles"Problem sloved."

Kage mutters to himself as he walks on down the road,he has yet to see the ferret or the badger either.

Oz walks quietly down the road, his first plan was to walk to Ferravale.But he  hasn't heard all the news of what has happen the past couple weeks,he knows a fire happen somewhere north of the abbey and the fire was put out so it seems the issue was sloved and so far the road has been deserted of beasts walking.

Smokefur chuckles to himself,"I'll just rob the badger or..or better yet knock it out,tie it up....need rope, ok get it and then tie the badger up and maybe  sale him to slavers or maybe just make him do things fr me...yeah great plan" He went to sneak up on the young badger.His weapon was a small dagger,it seems the weasel never really learned too many weapons.

Kage looked up to see the abbey walls, so he was close and should be there in the next hour.He then  saw the ferret ,and not to far away the badger...ok badgers were sometimes bad news to vermin and why was Smokefur seemly sneaking up on the badger,was he crazy? Heck maybe the badger will just kill the ferret for him.He decided to get closer staying alert and quiet.

Oz decided to start singing.His voice was deep and sounded very good.The voice cracking had finally stopped.It was a nice song that he made up himself.

Smokefur goes to sneak up on the badger and then quickly gets out a dagger and grins"This is a....ummm"He blinks, he snorts"Give me vaulables or just give up....maybe come with me or die,yeah"

Kage gets far enough to hear the ferret and shakes his head,drawing out one of his throwing knifes he takes carefull aim and waits for a good time to throw it.

Oz staumbles back in surprise and then frowns, taking out the Blade of the Northwind Storms he looks at the ferret."Go away"He swings it and......falls over,the blade clanking to the dirt road slideing slightly away from him.

Smokefur laughs loudly "Oh my, oh boy....You don't even know how ta use that blade...oh good grief...what a lose, what a joke and your a badger..." He goes to spin his blade and goes to take a slice at the badger seemly enjoying this.

Kage makes his move as soon as the ferret imoves, the  wildcat's skill is great and he rarely misses a target.

Oz frowns and scoots out of the way,he grabs the blade and holds it with both paws unuse of just how to swing correctly.

Smokefur lets loose a growl and then suddenly stiffens and falls forwards face down on the dirt road.He twitches a couple times and then is deathly still. A dagger sinked deep into upper back.

Kage grins and then  goews to get closer to Oz.He holds up his paws to show no other weapons "Hello, ya alright there kid?"

Oz eyes widen and then he quickly stands.Then the wildcat is seen as he holds the blade in both paws at a fairly good angle but it  could be much ,MUCH better."Just leave me alone....I.."Okj so he doesn't know how to use his father's blade."Others would look for me or if I am found...dead trak you down and slay you , and...and I am not a dibbun."

Smokefur is, yep he dead!

Kage walks slowly "Lower the blade before you hurt yourself lad."He studys the badger and bends down to retive his knife"This road can be dangerous at times."He looks at Oz "Where you from, the abbey? Or some wandering young badger looking for..well something clearly as badgers tend to have these  visions or  something"

Oz relaxes a little "The abbey...and.."He frowns "Sorry it's just the last wildcat I seen made me his slave for a couple seasons and the wildcat killed my father."He manages to carefully, couple tries, put the blade back in its  case."The blade was his.He..he was leader of a group called Mossflower Defenders'

Kage listens and tiltys his head"Mossflower Defenders?"Wait was this...he knew some of the Defenders from talk at the tavern,both the Black Gull and The Redthorn Tavern."Your father...his name was Xander right?"

Oz nods"Yeah....did you know him?"

Kage shakes his head "No...no didn't, heard of him though.." He hmmms and heads towards the abbey "Maybe I should escort ya to the abbey lad, I mean that base was destoyed  couple days ago."

Oz gasps,"W..what?! The base...destoryed? How?..Is Blisa going after  the bad beasts?"

Kage stops and looks at Oz,a sigh"Ya got a lot ta learn of current events, come on we walk as we talk...sides I was curious of the  abbey.Nmae is Kage..traveling healer and I know some simple self defense" Not a lie,he does" Come on...let's go before they send out a serch party"

Oz is unsure of following him at first and then  finally decides to trust the wildcat as the wildcat did save his life and help him.He follows and listens as the walk to the abbey"I'm Oz.."

Kage nods and updates the young badger on  how the chieftain was kidnappped and taken who knows where and how fire  destoyed the town hall, the chiftains home and  couple weeks later how the defenders base was destoryed.How  most of the bad beasts were  taken care of  and any that escaped was who knows where but clearly gone from the area and likely far , far, far away .They would arrive at the abbey in time for lunch.And Kage would get his first taste of abbey food.....and wonder WHY he never tried it before,it was the best!
