Sgt. Felicity,
Pvt. Rhonwen,
and Sgt. Terrence
Since coming back to the mountain and Elbio's promotion, Terrence had allowed himself to be lax in his duties - though arguably that was encouraged as for the first time in months he has had free time and the sergeant was taking full advantage of it (while still keeping an eye on things). So here he was, in his casual clothing, having the first 'quiet' drink he'd had this season. Other hares of his patrol were about in the room having a small party of sorts - finally being free of the tension in Halyard the privates were relaxing via playing cards and darts, though Terrence himself couldn't join in. For all the festiveness the bespectacled hare had one thorn in his side: a report of the goings on in the mountain since he'd been away, and in particularly one from the past week or so. He'd put off reading it for a few days now but there was no escaping it. With a resigned sigh he flipped the page to read the entry on Zolomon.
Rhonwen gets a drink and soon sits down. She didn't get the update as likely most of the higher ranks did, like above Prviate. She smiled enjoying a day to relax and not worry on training drills.
Terrence spares a glance at the private, nodding his head in greeting. "Rhonwen, hello." He's reading at the bar and seems unthrilled about the report to say the least, visibly wincing when he reaches the escape. "Well, hope you've been having a relaxing day private."
Rhonwen smiles " A day off is good sur.." She tilts her head." You seem stressed sur, everything Ok? Was something done wrong in Halyard?"
A wry chuckle escapes the sergeant, though he shakes his head. "I mean, Halyard was a mess but that was fo'h reasons outside of you ‘nd the rest of the hares' control. Nah," Terrence leans pack, adjusting his glasses as he peers more closely at the paper. "This has something to do with a sergeant. Not much any of us can do about him now though. You'll probably heah about it from the othah troops when you get back on duty, I think, as I certainly won't be worrying about that until I'm required to. O'h I'll try not to, at least."
Rhonwen listens, she sips some of her drink. "Oh...ok, hope its nothing to bad and likely the Badger Lord will tend to it if it is."
Felicity is ticked off. Oh, she knows all about the AWOL Sergeant and how he injured a Major in a fight. She hasn't been in a good mood since she heard about it in the first place. Not even the Healers telling her that she can go back to her full and complete duties could even cheer her up more than just a little. The Sergeant doe enters the Rec room, grumbling about something...then stops short when she notices who's in here. "Oh! 'Llo, didn't know you lot were back." A smile teases at her grumpy face, and she walks over, standing beside her fellow Sergeant and nodding at the Private. "What a nice surprise t'end a rotten week, wot!"
"Well, I probably should've mentioned being back earlieh," Terrence certainly is grinning now. "But to be frank this is the first time since being back I've stepped out of the bath o'h my bed." The report is still sitting in front of him, the page open for all to see - a black spot on his good mood. "As fo'h the rotten week yes, I was just learning about that." He glances sideways at the private. "Though, to answeh Rhonwen here, I'm rathah relieved none of us are needed to deal with this, not now."
Rhonwen smiles." We have a day off to relax, I like days off and will enjoy it. Likely won't have another one off for a week and maybe next week will be better."
Felicity cocks an eyebrow. "Oh, aye, although I doubt next week'll be too much bettah, at least f'me. I'm back t'm'full duties again, jus' in time f'Zolomon's great disappearin' act." She goes to lean on the buck's chair, stuffing her paws into her pockets. "But y'should enjoy y'day off, instead o' messin' wi' reports." She scoops up Terrence's papers and starts to look them over. "Can't this wait 'til tomorrow?" She gives the other doe a look as if to say, Can you believe this guy? They're all off-duty, it's fine in her mind, as long as they all respect each other like civilized people.
"I mean -" Terrence's voice is treading a thing line between a morbid joke and mild panic. "I can't just y'know ignore the fact ou'h majah is in the hospital fo'h more than one day - I already 'wasted' one sleeping the mission off. But you're both right." He lets the other sergeant do whatever she wants with those papers. "It can wait. Probably. I mean, I already go the gist and I don't really need more, do I? I certainly don't want to know more, that's fo'h damn sure. And you, miss," wags a paw at Felicity, "Just gave me an excuse to put it off."
Rhonwen chuckles. She nods. "Day off and tomorrow maybe speak to the Major, well if they allow visitors healers can be a bit...moody sometimes."
Felicity promptly takes him at his word, rolls the papers into a tube, and goes to boff him on the head with it. "Oh my wohd, y'th’wohst. Y' 'ave t'be ohdahed t'relax oh else y'll wohk y'self int' an eahly grave, wot!" She pulls up a chair and sits between them. "Y'c'n an' should find out all th'juicy details tomorrow. Ungh, an' don't get me stahted on th' 'Ealahs bein' moody," she adds in a grumble. "I think some of 'em became 'Ealahs just so they could ordah their Superiahs 'round an' not get in trouble."
"Healahs are the othah last things I really want to deal with on a day off, to be quite honest." Terrence knows more about the moodiness of healers than he ever wanted to know, though the bonk on his head drives that away. "If I wasn't thick skulled that would've hurt. And frankly I don't really want the juicy details - but yes the whole situation isn't a fit topic fo'h off duty, and I'll put it of mind and out of sight fo'h now. I just-" Morbid curiosity might be close, but it missed the mark somewhat. Worried? Distressed? He can't find the right word. "Off put, if you will, by the past month and that particulah hare who shall remain nameless."
Rhonwen frowns but just nods." Then we speak of other things and not worry about the papers." She smiles again trying to get the mood more cheery.
"Oh, pish posh, I barely touched y'with 'em." Felicity keeps hold of the paperwork just to make sure the buck doesn't try to do something ridiculous, like read it. "I'm back t'm'full duties again. An' my little sistah Julia managed t'stuff a bean up 'er nose yestahday. Th' 'Ealahs 'ad fun pullin' that out." She looks at the other doe. "I recognize you, but I don't think I evah really 'eahd y'name. I'm Felicity."
The words ’I’m glad to heah!’ die on Terrence tongue as Julia is mentioned - and the bean. "Ah. Can't imagine that was pleasant, at all, fo'h anyone involved." Taking off his spectacles to set them down on the bar he rubs his eyes. "Daresay I'd be inclined to properly introduce you two but that's not my job today!"
Rhonwen says, "Rhonwen...a private, well barely my first mission was to the docks at Halyard."
Felicity nods. "'Tis lovely t'meet y', Rhonwen. Got a lovely name, there. Makes me think o' trees....rowans, especially." She goes to poke the buck with the rolled up papers. "Y'always welcome t'introduce me t'beasts, Terrence! Be friendly and nighbourly-like, wot!" She smiles. "Oh, aye, I 'ad t' 'elp 'old Julia down. Nobody was thrilled 'bout it." She unrolls the papers lays them facing down on the counter so they can't be read, but also so she's not having to hold it anymore.
"Meh." The sergeant shrugs, downing his drink. "You managed it perfectly fine." Terrence is in a good mood, despite all that's happened, and there's once more a smile.
Rhonwen chuckles." I try ta avoid the infirm, but checkups I put up with.I have spent a good part of my life in the mountain"
Felicity is smiling, too, her previous bad mood dispersed. "I've been 'ere m'whole life, too. 'Tis 'ome. Although if I 'ad t'live somewhere else, I'd choose Redwall Abbey. 'Tis th'nicest place in th'wohld! 'Ave eithah o' you evah been?" She thinks Terrence hasn't, but she figures she'll ask them both for the sake of conversation.
The opinion of Redwall Terrence holds may not be the most positive, but - "No, of course I've nevah been. Its bad luck there fo'h patrol hares, anyway. Lt. Elbio'll have his work cut out fo'h hm, I think, but it'll probably be good fo'h him." He begins to stand, holding out a paw expectantly towards Felicity. "I'm not sure what you did with the papahs but I do need to read them at some point in the coming week - and I promise I won't read them until I need to."
Rhonwen shakes her head. "I never been there no. I was too young when my parents....went thar." She drinks the rest of her ale not saying much else.
Felicity looks miffed. "I not only nevah 'ad bad luck th'entire time I was thah, but I also arrived just in time foh one o' their feasts -- the Spring one, I believe. I'm sure Elbio'll be jus' fine." She softens and glances at the other doe. "I'm sorry. I know Mossflowah 'as bad memories foh some 'ares." She picks up the papers and holds them to her chest, eyeing him suspiciously. "I'm not so sure. May'ap I should keep 'em 'til tomorrow an' give 'em t'y'at fihst light." And she is only partly joking.
Rhonwen quietly excuses herself and leaves, she looks back at them and then heads on out to get some more rest.
"Fine! Keep them!" Tossing his paws up, Terrence starts for the door himself, saying over his shoulder, "but I'll send the clerk aftah you when they ask me where they went!" He gives an evil little chuckle, though adds, just as he stands on the threshold of the room, "I think I'm m off fo'h anothah bath anyway, so they can't bothah me there. I'll be seeing you, and Felicity-" He fully turns around, the joking manor dropped, "I don't know how to say I'm glad to see you back on you'h paws again." He's still in a rather public room surrounded by privates, but he hopes she gets how he feels. "Be seeing you then!"
Felicity waves at Rhonwen as she leaves. Turning to Terrence, she tries to pretend to be offended, but it doesn't really work very well. She stands and follows him to the door. "Well, I'll jus' tell 'em y'were disobeying ordahs an' not restin' when y'd been told to!" But as his joking manner drops, she comes to understand what he means, and she blushes slightly. Waving, the Runner smiles. "Aye, catch y'latah, wot!" She then goes off to try and find her sister.
