Esmeray acted fairly quickly when she figured out she was going to be followed and did the smart thing, she ran! A couple of places had ice and paths were still buried but she managed to find some steady ground, still, this was not the best thing to try and flee in, she hated the snow.

Velm looked for any quick help and was out the gates quickly so he didn't lose track of the feline. He had his saber and winter cloak on, he could track beasts when needed.

Esmeray muttered to herself, she was a fool to get this close to the abbey again, all cause she decided south was the best route to go, south would be warmer. She made camp in the grasslands and was spotted, her own fought as she did venture into the open briefly.

DoraRose was with the hare in a heartbeat. Leaving Lilymoore in charge of the gate, Dora left with velm, her only weapons her bastard sword and her sling to reduce the weight she was carrying. "when I catch that cat..." she mutters.

Velm scans the area for tracks, he finds a couple of faint ones." Not ta worry we will catch up, she can't get too far lass"

Esmeray normally would but a couple of thick wall of snow stop her and she has to back up and find another path, sadly for her close to the two Redwall beasts as she cusses and tries to get onto a bit of a slop only to lose one snowshoe she has. She hisses and claws at a tree before getting up and moving forwards, getting turned around and ending up by the side of the wall, she mutters and follows it to a path leading south through a part of the woods perhaps some woodland family lives and likely went to the abbey for better shelter but hey, its a path and she is taking it!

Velm makes sure Dorarose is close as he looks around and then catches sight of the cat and leaps over a snow mound heading to her, " Hault vermin!"

Esmeray looks back seeing the hare and her ears flatten, she sees the mouse maid not too far behind also and lets out a hiss"How bouts you two woodlanders go back to your stupid abbey!" She has not had the best past 2-3 weeks as she followed an insane beast and now is trying to just get further away from this area altogether.

Velm glares as he is fast on his footpaws but he does slide a couple of times but gets back up." Surrender cat, your responsible for murder" He frowns as he lost track of Dorarose, ok not good but he needs to focus on the cat now.

Esmeray is traped and smirks "You long patrol hares murder beasts too, so aren't you also responsible for death?" She chuckles"Sides I have killed no one lately"

Velm says, "That is likely a lie....you helped kill a badger, Xander Winters, last seen going with you to help some...friend of yours, so where is your friend, close by?"

Esmeray smirks "Oh the badger, not my fault he died. It was sort of fair, he used my blade when he fought Zoltar and no Zoltar is no where close stupid longear....he's long gone by now, likely drowned that brat too"

Velm eyes narrow at this as he draws his saber to fight.

Esmeray watches the hare closely, a slight look around for the mouse as she grins "Lost your helper it seems, well I like fair odds..1 ta 1"

Velm was a healer but still very much skilled in fighting, he might not be an expert like a true fighter but he didn't lack still.

Esmeray kept a close eye on the hare drawing her longsword, "You know what is interesting...you could say I helped suppose...I do admit it was a bit interesting watching him die."

Velm starts to circle the cat, saber at an angle." two choices cat..surrender and you can be a captive and we get info your sure to have or don't surrender and you die here and now "

Esmeray purrs a little "Info from me? I think not hare."She smirks "Then again maybe I can figure out why Zoltar thinks it's such a thrill ta watch one's life fade!" She suddenly is attacking the hare, a slice to the side, a kick towards the left knee.

Velm barely avoids a bad slice to the side, it does get his arm as he sidesteps and avoids the kick. kicking out with his own powerful legs.

Esmeray gets sent backward and shakes her head to clear it and growls, ears back as she hisses "Your lucky I only had one knockout dart..used it on that mouse maid....maybe I should have killed her, maybe after I slay you huh?" She moves quickly, she is a skilled merc, after all, she is hired to find and kill a beast normally. The past job just kind of failed.

Velm lets this news distract him as he is knocked down onto the path, his saber sliding a few away from him.

Esmeray grins and goes to sit a footpaw on the hare "Well...this is funny see something like this happen to the badger too. Only the badger managed to slice Zoltar's face...trust me he didn't improve that wildcat's looks, he worsen them"

Velm looks up at the cat" So Zoltar is the one that killed Xander Winters...where is Zoltar now?"

Esmeray laughs " How should I know, he made me leave..fired me, likely cause he didn't get to kill anyone else, though he seemed thrilled at the badger's death, but he was after someone else I think"

Velm does his best to keep her talking, "Who else?"

Esmeray smiles as she slices at his arm, deeping the slash, " I believe he wanted the other badger dead too. Then again maybe she will die anyways soon. she looked to want to fall off that wall top, losing so much be right painful, one can seriously die of a broken heart"

Velm grits his teeth at the pain and goes to kick up with both legs to try and throw her off him!

Esmeray is knocked backward and gasps as the breath is knocked from her and a rib crack, maybe two.

Velm grits his teeth as blood pours down his arm, he grabs his saber " Euelaya!" He goes to stab Esmeray.

Esmeray hisses and gets up to slice at the hare and makes a sort of gurgling noise as the blade enters her chest. She drops her own blade and sways now, unsteady on her paws .She goes to claw at his face,through weakly.

Velm moves backward slightly and claw marks show up on his snout.He twists the blade,yaks it out and pants...ok he needs a healer, he goes to swing one last time aiming to behead her before collapeing.

Esmeray tenses up and gets a look of ok this is bad, before she is beheaded, yep she is one dead cat.

Luckly for Velm the Redwall Champion Matilda went out, she first found the knockedout Dorarose and had the guard with her take the mouse to the abbey and quickly went to find Velm, coming upon the scene she gasps, no need to check Esmeray, she checks Velm for a pulse and gets a temporary bandage around the hare to stop the bleeding and then its quickly back to the abbey and to the infirm to save the hare's life!
