Blacksmith Shop Has New Owner

**** Rupert is in town a couple days to get something fixed….Rupert left before log was done but stayed around so could log rest. ICLY Rupert is off map making ****

Ferro was working on what seemed to be a long sword. or maybe it was a short sword. it was hard to tell as he had just begun work on it. The shop was a little hot but not too  hot    .

Rupert walked in and adjusts his glasses "I say they have a Blacksmith owner now, how thoughtful. He seems to show little fear as he walks over to the monitor "I say good sir I dropped off a couple cases for maps . The cases needed hinges fixed and I was wondering if that was done yet?"

Ferro looked over as he finished what he was doing at the moment so it was safer to put the blade down and looked at a shelf till he found what the rabbit was needing and handed it to him "Here...payment pleaszzzzzz"

Visits from the head guard were never a good thing. Most beasts tend to cringe at the sight of Bandit as if he were a big fat tax collecting fox. This time around however Bandit steps into the shop with an honest smile, un accompanied by guards. "Hello! I see you are settling in nicely."

Rupert finds the needed coins and pays the large lizard, he does however study the hinges and nods "Excellent work, yes this is superior." He steps away as the fox enters and shakes his head staying off to the side for now.

Xander walked in slowly and stopped at the doorway of the shop “Ferro?" He is a little unsure of the monitor just yet so for now keeps his distance.

Ferro starts to mumble something about hares and glances at fox as he enters "Itzzzz job what is it you need fox?" He catches sight of Xander but keeps his attention on Bandit for now.

Bandit nods to each of the other beasts, presumably either to be kind or because bowing graciously is so difficult due to his, ahem, excess fluff. "Good day gents. I came to talk to you about armor. Specifically chain mail."

Rupert rolls his eyes , he nods to the badger and stays off to the side mainly watching as he does study the shop, always curious of how things run in a village or any area he is in.

Xander walks the rest of the way in and waits to speak as he won't interrupt business with the head guard.

Ferro nods "I can makezzzz chain mail, it will take a few days’ time." He glances at the badger again address him "Whyzzzzz izzzz you here? Unless....did she awaken? Izzz zzzhe ok?"

The fox notices others waiting to speak until he is done with his business. It brings a smile to his face, especially making a badger wait on him. Respect man, respect! "Really? I was hoping you could loosen my current chain mail tunic. It's starting to get a little...snug." He adds with slight embarrassment, "It must have shrunk in the wash."

Rupert lets out a chuckle but otherwise says nothing.

Xander holds up a paw, "She is fine. I can keep you updated, though still curious and the Master healer was too..umm you don’t have to answer but you called her daughter...?"

Ferro eyes narrow "Causezzz zzzzzhe izzzz...." He snorts and looks to Bandit "Wash?..." He shakes his head "Maybe take...2 dayzzzzzz then....and will need to pay before get it back"

Rupert frowns "You...have a monitor in the infirmary at Redwall Abbey?!"

Bandit can't help but feel that he is interrupting a conversation. An important conversation.

It's a pity then that his needs are, obviously, far more important than their own. "Two days? I don't, suppose you can get it done any sooner. I've chastised my beasts for not wearing their armor on duty." Not to mention the vast number of beasts who would love nothing more than to do away with him, thinks the fox. That's the one benefit of everyone hating yer guts. No one would ever want to stab you in the back. No, they would want to stab you in the front. Much more personal that way...and painful. "Maybe a rush job?"

Xander looks at the rabbit and frowns "Not....no, why are you so curious?"

Ferro snort again, first the fox and he gets right in his face "Costzzzz extra then....." Yeah his mood is not improving right now it’s getting worse, the rabbit gets a glare and Xander he takes a deep breath before speaking to him “She is adopted....long zzztory thats not being told...RIGHT NOW!!" May be wise to back off.

Rupert jumps and decides he is clearly leaving the shop and exits quickly

Xander gulps as he backs off "O..ok..I will just keep you updated on how she is and in fact can go check on her now"

The fox stands where he is, eyes blinking as he leans backward slightly. "Oh kay..." He loosens the collar on his tunic, "Right, anyway. Cost is no issue... unless of course I can't afford it." He laughs. The laughter dies off as he stands there awkwardly. "H-how much?" he says, not pressing the subject of adopted beasts in Redwall.

Ferro just nods at Xander and looks at Bandit as he thinks and walks over to a table and gets a quill pen and jots down a price and hands the folded paper to the fox, it’s a little high but clearly could of been higher and he did include a little discount for the head guard.

Xander says, "Ok...sir "Yes respect the monitor and then he exits to head back to the abbey "Be back....later."

Apparently not low enough, judging by the foxes reaction. "You know, I could have you arrested for highway robbery." He says coldly. "Is this really the best price you can give? Really? I bought my house for-" The fox pauses, cringing and clutching his chest for a moment. The moment passes and Bandit just sighs. "Fffiiine. Take my blood at the same time why don't you." The fox takes off his tabard first, setting on a hook before taking off the chainmail underneath. He wears a black shirt under the chain mail, but it's clear that the tunic doesn't cover his stomach completely. "Here." he says, handing the lizard his chainmail.

Ferro looks at the fox, he snorts "Yozzzzzz want it by tonight will cost more....maybe takezzz off a little more" He studies the chain mail and nods "Pick up tonight."

"Fffiiiiiiiiiine." He says, handing off the chainmail. Pulling on his tabard the fat bellied fox turns to the exit, flicking his tail at the lizard as one snubs their nose. "Just be quick about it. You wouldn't want the head guard to be caught without armor should an emergency occur, now would you?"

Ferro growls low"Why...zzzzo worried? Izzz zzzzzo worried then sit down and waitzzzz...."Yes he is in a bad mood, maybe it has to do with his daughter or maybe he is always in a bad mood it’s unclear as he sits to work on the chain mail, carefully and skillfully adding some links to it, he snorts a couple times as he works.

The fox doesn't add a comment to this. He just chalks it up to a rhetorical question. Besides he has better things to do. Guard things and... The fox pauses to rub at his chest. "Must be...lunch acting up." He shakes it off, turning for the tavern. Nothing a drink won't solve...

Ferro finishes up the chain mail, in a fair amount of time and if the fox doesn’t come get it he takes it to the fox. Hey he wants his pay and gets it before returning to his shop.
