She Has Awoken...Now Explain Something To Me-Redwall Log

RW Abbey: Infirmary

Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall.  Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds.  Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper.  A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Leon paced in the infirm and every so often looked at the doorway. The past couple days had been interesting but at least he sleep well for a change, no nightmares but this was not about some nightmares, he was waiting on some beast for answers he needed.

Xander walked in slowly “Hello Brother Leon, a novice said you needed to speak to me, wot about sir?”

Leon nodded “I had to tell a monitor to leave my infirm, which he did without trouble and just to make sure and have others feel better I had a couple otter guards escord him out, some think he attacked the beast you brought in, yet he said when she wakes to have Xander Winters tell him and how he would be in Ferravale Blacksmith shop and he walked away. Now please explain to me all this….please” He didn’t sound angry just curious and slightly confused.

On the bed laid, Krisha  . Bandaged up and clearly awake as she stared at the wall her bed was against. She was quiet, very quiet.

“She is awake?” Xander asked and then answered “I..I don’t know, he called her his daughter and called her Krisha…he didn’t attack her a small flock of ravens did and they also made her almost drown. Me and the Mossflower Defenders came to her rescue and Ferro…the Monitor was there, also Gorvenalus had come with Minsc as I had given Minsc his blade back, you know the one Quade claimed was his own. Anyways Ferro was clearly worried and he even killed one of the ravens and yeah he is gonna be a Blacksmith in Ferravale and help out the Mossflower Defenders as well when needed like with armor, weapons and things to help the base like hinges and door handles, door knobs and nails, even pots and pans.”

Leon listened and speaks again “She is awake but afraid it seems and has yet to speak, maybe you can see if she talks to you. She will have to still stay in my infirm as she still needs to recover and will likely for a few days.”

Xander nods and walks slowly over “Ummm…hello? I am Xander Winters and it seems you are Krisha  ?”

Krisha  turns to the badger, a fellow badger makes her curiosity perk as she reaches up to touch his face and study him. She sits up and whimpers in pain from her bandaged side, but still stares at Xander and touches his stripe traceing it and looks at a bowl of water, used for cleaning soon maybe but it’s clear as she looks at her own reflection and then him again and smiles a little but she doesn’t speak she just nods slowly and lays down slowly best she can.

Leon walks over and stays close “I..need to check the wounds, clean them is that ok?”

Xander stays still and then helps her to lay back down, he backs up to let Leon help her. “I can go and let Ferro know she is awake and just tell him I will keep him updated for few days as I know it’s unwise to bring him back here, I trust him but….yeah monitor in the abbey would be scary to most.”

Krisha reaches out as if she rather Xander not walk away as she looks at Leon as if scared of him and just whimpers.

Leon frowns and speaks “I…Xander please stay by her if it helps, she may want to have another of her kind near her….please”

Xander nods and walks to gently take the badger maids paw, if that’s ok or he will just stand by her and offers a small smile “Brother Leon is a friend, a good beast and will help you…trust me and I can stay here till he is done treating the wounds, it will help and your feel better afterwards.”

Krisha grips his paw and closes her eyes, but she will let the mouse help her. She may whimper a couple times but she will try her best to not move too much.

Leon is gentle as he takes off the old bandages and cleans the wounds. He reapplies herbs for  preventing infection and swelling and carefully rebandages the wounds. He then asks “Would you like something to eat? Drink? Some soup maybe..simple soup and a role, and some fruit juice I can have a healer novice get it and if needed Xander can stay with you for a little while…well if he isn’t busy that is”

Xander nods as he stays nearby, “I can stay..its fine.”

Krisha nods at the offer of food and is calmer with Xander beside her  and even looks around the room getting a better idea where she is.

Leon speaks to a novice and then they return with some simple thin cut potato soup, 2 rolls, a little cheese pasty and a tall mug of fruit juice. “I have some sparrows to check on…” He then walks off.

Xander nods and sits in a chair beside Krisha and offers her another smile.

Krisha eats the food and drinks the juice, she then yawns and falls asleep after making sure Xander is there, least till she falls asleep then he could leave if he wants to.

Xander stands and adjusts a sheet around the badger maid and walks to where Leon is “She is asleep, I need to tell Ferro but I will be back around dinner.” He then exits the infirm.

Leon nods and glances over at the badger maid and sighs. He finishes tending to a sparrow chick that got a scrap on its face from a tumble learning to fly and then he heads to the gate house to take a nap, he needs a good nap.
