RW Abbey: Entry
--------------------
You stand on a grassy sward between two cottages.  To the south you see a small, calm pond.  To the north lies an open space where the Abbey has its feasts in the warmer seasons. To the east is the Great Hall, a massive structure that rises far above the abbey walls and is completed with large towers that pierce upwards into the sky.  The main building is completed with a large, iron banded door that would allow one into the Great Hall.
Almost Summer
----------------------

Caleb has been helping with any spring time chores this morning outside the abbey, so far today it hasn't rained so there has been some stuff to do outside today and he is taking a small break right now.

Benar comes walking along the path toward Caleb and raises a paw to him in greeting. The basket he is carrying is full of blue bells and daffodils and he smiles warmly at the mouse, "Morning Caleb, how are you today?"

Caleb smiles "Been helping in the gardens, been a good day so far and was about to take a small break"

Benar says, "A break is always a good idea I was going to walk down to the pond and just enjoy the warmth, Summer will be along soon"

Caleb nods "I know...and there will be a lot of swimming in the pond" He frowns some "It’s sad we had to miss the feast for Spring though, will the season go nameless cause of that?"

Benar says, "The seasons name will be recorded but yes the lack of a feast was a sad point but not much we could do with the abbey under threat. We have missed feasts before and survived"

Caleb nods but smiles again "We can make the Summer one even better!"

Benar says, "Indeed I am already working on that with others, there shall be quite the fayre when all is ready"

Caleb smiles "Sounds fun Abbot Benar...maybe a contest..baking maybe as I do like to cook or something else is fine also that’s fun for all ages"

Benar says, "I am sure we will come up with suitable contests but Baking isn't really a summery activity. It should be exterior and out in the sunshine and fresh air"

Caleb nods "Yeah...true, too much heat well no cooking ideas then, could do maybe games, that’s fun or some sort of water events by the pond"

Benar says, "I will come up with something fun I am sure, it is always good fun to do fun things"

Caleb chuckles "I..I also been trying to decide what I should do one day...be a cook or maybe help in the library be like a scholar or help write down current events in the logs"

Benar says, "Well Caleb all are good paths," He starts toward the pond, "I was never sure what I wanted to do until I started working in the orchard. It is why we encourage Novices to try their hand at everything"

Caleb nods as he follows "And I still a novice, just a higher rank now but it doesn’t mean I will try and speed anything up. I do know healing is not something I want to...well get seriously into sort of...dislike blood and all, illness is a bit better to handle...sort of...always wonder how dad handles being a healer and the main healer here"

Benar says, "Your father is very good at what he does and he loves helping to nurse people back to health," He steps off the path and winds down the road toward the pond side, "But you will find what you want to do Caleb never fear that"

Caleb sighs "I hope so..I do like to cook and I am good at writing and reading, not sure could write a lot at a time though. I helped with the dibbuns once but that didn’t go well....they don’t always listen well to novices"

Benar says, "Dibbuns are tricky for the adults too. So do not feel too badly about that, it is easy to lose out to the dibbuns and their tricks"

Caleb smiles "Yeah let Papa Oz handle the dibbuns" He walks over to sit by the pond and lets a rock skip across the surface 3 times before the rock sinks, "You know this may be something fun how far or how many skips a rock does on the pond"

Benar nods his head, "I could see a lot of people enjoying a game like that and it is something everyone can take part in. Not just those who are particularly sporty."

Caleb smiles as he is glad to of come up with a good idea, "And fun maybe ask beasts for ideas on activities for the summer feast"

Benar says, "It would be good so do spread the word I want to hear everyone’s ideas."

Caleb asks, "I could help and keep it written down and give you the list, when would the summer feast be?"

Benar says, "That would be a good idea thank you Caleb,"

Caleb says, "Yeah it would be and I should have time"

Benar waves and smiles as he heads off to elsewhere in the abbey
Caleb heads around the abbey and soon back towards the pond.

RW Abbey: Pond
---------------------------------
The Abbey pond is practically the place to go for relaxation.  The orchards that settle onto one side of the water hole provide decent shade for the more heated months to come.  Various types of wild flowers grow about the edge of the ground that lightly overhangs into the pond.  The pond seemingly invites one into its cool depths, which holds its fish life and multiple species of shrimp and other water dwellers.
The homely pond provides an oasis of relaxation amid the busy bustle of activity that almost always surrounds Redwall Abbey, especially in the warmer summer months when fruit and crops are to be tended to.  A cool atmosphere, added to by the pond, wafts out around the pond area and onto the grass.  The orchards simply extend that cool, providing shade and solace for those who wish to relax a little further from the sport that is usually taking place around the oh-so-popular pond.
lush lawn, studiously kept, surrounds the pond, all the way up to the orchard edge, even entering the orchard - though tentatively.  Rushes grow in most of the shallower places on the pond's edge, but the clear water prevails, and in most places, only a bit of a muddy bank is visible and no water reeds find hospitality there.  Bugs of all types flit about the surface of the water, testing fate of those who lurk below.  Sometimes a  shadow can be seen skulking about the rocks at the bottom of the clear pond, but it could very well merely be a trick of the potent summer sun.
------------------------------------------

Leon decided he needed a break from the infirm so he left to get some fresh air and some swimming in.

Kurt hops over to the mouse and watches from the shore, he then makes a tweet noise to get his attention and waits.

Leon looks over and swims back to shore "Hello Kurt, how are you doing? Your wing is ok right?"

Kurt nods "Wing is feeling fine. Kurt wants free of bandage now, want to fly not be on ground, ground not good for bird is not"

Leon  nods "Well I would think not I can see how the wing has healed and you can see if your able to fly or not but I would advise to take things slow"

Kurt asks, "right say?"

Leon blinks and folds his arms over his chest before relying" The wing does need to be healed first, preferred totally healed not just healed a little...let me see it" He then adds "Please"

Kurt holds still so bandages can be removed, he will then move the wing up and down to test its flying abilities.

Leon carefully removes the bandage and carefully feels along the wing and steps back "Ok...test it out and let me know how it feels"

Kurt tests the wing and then flaps a little from not too high up before landing again and nods "Kurt is ok..fly much soon"

Leon says, "sounds good its healed. mostly and that’s a good thing"

Kurt says, "Kurt gonna join Mossflower Defenders yes gonna help them as messenger now"

Leon smiles "I am sure they would like a new messenger around, it’s a very useful job"

Kurt says, "Of course is useful is needed ya and I help spy..good spy though and not bad one no more"

Leon nods "Well I suppose, but don’t fly too high too soon and avoid flying in thunderstorms it’s not a good thing to do"

Kurt says, "Yes storm be evil thing for birds will try avoid them"

Leon says, "yeah storms are not a fun thing to have to deal with for any beast"

Kurt says, "what be fun of them...nothing so when badger return so can tell him want in group?"

Leon shrugs "I am unsure, in a week or so maybe. He is in a boat or supposed to be along the river moss and on the western shore and a boat takes like a week instead of two weeks travel time, maybe add a day or day and a half to get to the river from Salamandastron and a half day from bride to here"

Kurt says, "flying is even less time I maybe go to him, is good plan ya"

Leon says, "just take it easy if you do look for him, never know what or whom is out there sometimes"

Kurt says, "much is out thar...sky and grass and tall trees, friends and foes "

Leon says, "Well said" He chuckles some "Anyways as said be careful if you do travel ok"

Kurt nods and flaps a little before managing to take off. He will fly around the abbey a little bit and then lands on a tree across on the dirt road and looks around, no clouds and no vermin so he flies off towards the river moss.

Leon watches him head off before going back for some swimming.

Caleb comes by shortly aft wards and yells over “Hey dad…”

Leon sighs, oh well no time to himself as he heads over “Yeah son?”

Caleb smiles “I promised the abbot to gather ideas for summer feast, you have any for games or contests?”

Leon hmmms “Raceing maybe? Scavenger hunt is an idea or maybe best flower design…or art and with art could use flowers, rocks, paints…stuff like that”

Caleb nods and rushes off to talk to others.

Leon shakes his head, and goes back to his swimming.
