~WHEN LAST WE LEFT OUR HEROES~
After the battle with Quade, Henry tried to help the wounded sparra warrior. However, the sparrow poet knew nothing about healing, leading to the death for many sparrows. To help the warrior still left, Henry brought Leon, master Healer of Redwall, up into the Loft. This backfired however when a portion of the sparrows, lead by a sparra named Warclaw, attacked Leon, and want to war with the sparrows who wanted to protect Leon. With the loft in chaos, Henry and Leon fled for there lives.
The fate of the Loft is still unknown.
Thus is the sparrow civil war...
__________________________________________________________________________________
Leon is working quietly this morning, still a little shaken up from a couple days ago but he wasn’t hurt at least and he is still master healer so tends to injured in the infirm.
The black throated head of Henry the poet pokes into the room. "Greetings healerworm." He says quietly.
The loft has been turmoil for the last few days and every sparrow who died from their wounds was just adding to it with abbey friendly sparra and Warclaw's sparra on and off fighting all day. The commotion was about to spread down to the abbey too as shortly after Henry there's another sparrow at the door outside. A quick look around and it chirps back out the door and then suddenly there's more sparrows and a couple of the injured being left literally on the infirmary doorstep.
Leon looks over and frowns, he then walks over to help the sparrows, as long as they let him help and calls over a couple novice healers to also help.
The black throated sparrow also helps the wounded inside the Infirmary. "How does the fighting go?" Says Henry, who has started to talk like a redwaller. A small sparrow maiden with a bright yellow head (the same one who saved Leon) comes forwarder. "It go nogood! Both side lost many sparra, weum come down for help form healerworm."
It's at that point probably the oldest sparra in the abbey suddenly appears. Landing on the railing for the steps outside Quickbeak could almost be mistaken for a dust bunny that came to life and grew wings he's so moth-eaten. He's got a few bald patches and just landing seems to dislodge a few feathers but the old crown and battleclaws remain and his eyes look sharp even if one looks like it's starting to go blind. Henry gets a long stare before with a blink he refocuses on Leon "Abbeyworm helpum sparra quickfast" he chirps out at high speed before pointing a claw at Henry "Henrysparra forgettum rules? Forgettum no worms inna loftnest?" he sounds a little irritated.
Leon frowns, he has no clue who the old sparrow is, he rarely sees the sparrows as he goes over to help one with a broken wing that needs reset. "Just...holdum still" He knows their language somewhat, it’s needed for the few times a sparrow comes down to the abbey grounds and that’s usually outside a building.
The eyes of bird bard go wide when the old sparrow lands. "You’re Majesty!" Says Henry with a great bow (or the sparra equivalent). He straightens, and says in his best sparra, "Many brave sparra warriors were woundhurt in battle with evilworm. Henrypoet try and help, but meum no healer. Many sparra die. So Henry get healer wormfriend to help woundhurt sparra!" All this comes out as a torrent of words. "Healer worm save brother..." Says the yellow headed sparrow maid quietly.
Quickbeak hasn't been seen outside of the loft in years, even those who would remember him probably thought he died ages ago. He hops off the railing to the ground to walk in to the infirmary itself "Abbeyworms helpum sparra many times but not inna loftnest!" he practically screeches out the last word. It's like he's telling him off though, he shows no sign of attacking as he slowly walks "Whereum KingNutwingsparra? Whatum happen? Abbeyhouse inna war?" He sleeps a lot, he misses a lot, he's secretly just very old and confused and woke up to a warzone around his nest.
Leon finishes helping a sparrow with a broken wing, he is unsure of weather to interrupt this talk between Quickbeak and Henry or not and for now stays where he is. He was up in the loft yes, talked into it by Henry and deciding to go up after a couple hours of thinking and seems just fine with staying out of the place that’s so...so HIGH off the ground. He lays out some herbs next to a sparrow that’s not as hurt" You could learn to useum...herbs and abbeyworms maybe teach couple sparra healing"
“King Nutwing sparra go missing," Says a small yellow headed warrior. "He son, Prince Starwing, die after battle." The warrior is badly injured, but he his wounds look well treated, he should recover soon. Upon the warrior’s last statement, Henry looks at the ground.
Quickbeak flutters up on to the end of a bed to perch there, quiet after the news on his son and grandchild for a moment but it's Leon he responds to first while he thinks "Any sparra that takeum wormtools inna loftnest now riskum fight. Warclawsparra issa lead eggchicks who notta see abbeyhouse wars before. Seeum dead, thinkum should not helpum Abbeyworms...No Kingsparra inna loftnest to makeum quiet, alla panic"
Leon listens, he nods slowly "Alright....I, myself notta plan going to your wormhome gain. If Sparra want learn of healing then I will let them decide. All Abbeyworms will stay ouuta your home. The badworm involved is..."How was it said… "Got killa by warriorworms...no longer threat now..."
"Warclaw no panic, heum see big picture," Says the yellow headed warrior. All eyes turn to look at him. The yellow sparrow folds his wings behind his back. He speaks clearly and calmly, like a pure shared of ice. "Despite Starwing no calla himself kingsparra, himum was next in line after Nutwing, which make him king. Warclaw be Nutclaw's nephew so heum have clam to kingcrown. However, now that Srarwing be dead, the title of kingsparra fall to Eggchick brother, Dawnfeather. Dawnfeather too young to be kingsparra, so Dawnfeather's mother rule in him stead. Warclaw can not kill Dawnfeather, thatum be crime. Therefore, he must win throne."
Quickbeak nods at Leon's words, glad to hear the outside threat was dead at least, not they just have the sparrows to worry about "Teachum sparra later maybe...Sparra try gettum more hurtsparra outta loftnest down toum abbeyworms" He looks back to the other sparrow as the entire situation gets explained to him. It's questionable if he even recalls all his family that well. He starts to look angry though "Sparra hurt becauseum eggchick wantum be Kingsparra?!" He spreads his wings, another couple of feathers falling out in the process before he screeches "KingQuickbeaksparra showum real Kingsparra! Showum killee! Warclawsparra wantum crown haveum take from Quickbeak!" Quickbeak was a good fighter in his day and loves telling tales of wars he fought but his day was a very long time ago.
Leon blinks… well seems the rightful king may help fix the situation maybe. He nods to the teach healing later maybe issue and leaves it at that. He will help the sparrows here right now, he in fact goes back to tending to a rather scared sparrow, maybe this was their first fight or even first time from the loft. The young sparrow calms some after he sees the mouse as a friend or least the mouse is helping pain go away. It’s not a bad cut on the bird's side, some pain killing and herbs for infection will help, he will leave it up to the sparra in charge if the injured sparrows stay in the infirm or go back to the loft for healing.
The Defenders' poet helps the master healer as best he can. Holding up wounded lambs, grabbing tools, and generally acting as an assistant to the mouse. The yellow headed sparra warrior looks calmly upon his king. "If I may your Majesty," He says coolly. "I would wish to destroy this would be usurper... with my own claws."
Quickbeak may just make things worse if he goes and gets himself killed but that won't stop him from doing something stupid like getting in to a fight. He nods to the other sparra "Come, help, we goum to loftnest and joinum battle, stop fight quickfast" and with that he moves to fly home, though it does take him a couple of attempts to get airborne before his joints loosen enough to allow enough flapping for takeoff.
The yellow headed warrior gives a nod and he moves to fallow the king. But the sparrow maiden jumps in the way. "No! Youum still woundhurt! Youum recover now and warfight last!" "I am sorry," Says the warrior. "But I must fight to protect the crown, to protect the family, and to protect alla Redwall from he who would wish to rule them. I must go." Then he pushes past her without another word. The sparrow maid looks down the hall after him. She says softly as he disrepairs down the hall. "Come back safely... bother!"

I went a bit over the top with the dialog in that last pose there. But, who says we can't go over the top once in awhile?
