Helping Friends-Redwall Log

Minsc- Warrior and Champion of Willowbark Abbey( Alt of The_Brony_Marek)

Benar-Abbot of Redwall

Xander-Leader of Mossflower Defenders

LOG:

Minsc has been around the abbey the past week so far and right now is relaxing in one of the chair's and drinking a mug of October Ale he managed to get his paws on.   

Benar comes strolling down the stairs, the abbot escaping his office after a morning spent doing whatever it is the abbot does at his desk, paperwork mostly. He makes his way over toward Misnc and smiles, "Minsc, I heard you where staying with us, how are you?"   

Minsc smiles "Hello to you also Abbot Benar, yes I was planing on taying maybe till almost Summer...unless beasts rather I not but decided to visit my friends and I am doing well."   

Benar asks, "Why would we not want you to stay?" He leans on an empty chair and smiles, "I am all in favour of there being more squirrels around the place"
   
Minsc chuckles a little "More squirrels could be good yes, and seems the abbey has been doing fairy well. Also the food here is very good, hopefully i will catch a feast before I head home"   

Benar asks, "Well we try our best with our food and is that some of Matilda's ale? I must say our Champion is very good at brewing things"
   
Minsc hmmms "I did not know she made any..I simply got some, yes we have ale at home but not like this"   

Benar exclaims, "Well Redwall's October Ale recipe is one of the few secrets we don't share with just anyone, our cellar keepers are usually quite strict on sharing that uinformation, but they are always friendly at letting us drink it!"

Minsc smiles and finihes his mug of ale "I heard also plans are in the works to start getting ready for spring planting, I will offer my help with that as i enjoy helping my friends"   

Benar says, "Aye Spring planting is only a week or so away at this rate and we are also planning a special story competition around the fire pit in a week or so for everyone to have a goodbye winter celebration"

Minsc says, "Maybe I will join in that as well, stories are good to share"
   
Benar exclaims, "Well that would be good," he grins, "I am sure you have some fantastic stories to share with us all!"   

Minsc nods "Was there anything else the abbey is needing the help with right now or is all well right now?"   

Benar says, "Well nothing off the top of my head, Xander seems to be settling down and behaving himself, everything else seems to bwe on track"
   
Minsc nods "I got to talk to him briefly a couple days ago I was helping Log-A-Log and a couple other shrews with a quest they had, there was a couple probems but seems the quest ended successfully"   

Benar says, "The shrews always seem to have some trouble going on," he smiles softly, "Or they just love arguing I am never sure which myself"
   
Minsc chuckles "They found something that seems to have been stolen some seasons ago and now the item is in the rightful paws and shrews do argue and debate alot yes."   

Benar says, "Oh yes I heard about that, Scioto's amulet I was kind of glad when I heard that had been found, that went missing such a long time ago."

Minsc says, "seems who ever took it...hid it..made a map to find it"He shrugs "But it was found and returned so all is well again"
   
Benar says, "Well I am glad it was found south and sound and returned to Blisa, I would have been upset if somebeast had tried to keep it from her."
   
Minsc says, "A nice surprise to be found indeed and was able to be good news, always liked good news"   

Benar says, "Other then that piece of local news things have been pretty quiet here, unless anyone wants to go sperlunking in the old ruins under the abbey"

Minsc says, "No...doesnt sound too intresting and who knows maybe unsafe, likely nothing of intrest there....adventure is not always needed my friend"   

Benar says, "It has been scoured several times over the seasons, I mostly keep it sealed and don't let anyone down there," He taps his chin, "BUt I cannot think oif anything else, and I will admit I do quite like things to be quiet"

Minsc says, "Quiet can be good in most cases, there was a wildcat around but he is .....well gone now"   

Benar says, "I do prefer quiet, and I am glad the wildcat has moved on and left, I dislike disruptive beasts hanging around Mossflower causing trouble"
   
Xander makes his way down the steps and stos at the bottom of them not going fully into the room just yet.   

Minsc nods "Trust me the wildcat wont be coming back"He leaves it at that "We can freely think more on how snow is melting and spring is soon here"   

Benar frowns then nods to Minsc and doesn't ask for more details, "Well with Spring on its way things are starting to look up, it'll be cheerful and the trees will all be in blossom soon, so lots to do"   

Xander decides to quietly walk on into the room as the two are talking, he has decided to not intrut thier talk in case it's important,he does sit down nearby though.   

Minsc smiles, he waves to the badger before looking again to Benar "Yes Spring is always nice...melting snow though could cause river issues but nothing that would effect too many and the otters will not care at Camp Willow...and the shrews are here Log-A-Log said till couple weeks into spring by then any possible flooding would be down"   

Benar says, "The flooding of the moss can be a worry," he frowns, "We should see if we can help protect the GUOSIM camps omehow from the worst of the flooding," he glances at Xander but turns back to Minsc, "I tis a bit worrying that their home is so suscptible to flooding"

Xander waves and clears his throat "Hey...guys."He offers a small smile but doesn't really say too much right now.   

Minsc hmms "Maybe move it just slightly upriver....or back into the woods a little more, that could work and they can still be in the same gereral area, though of course would be up to Log-A-Log and his shrews of course"   

Benar asks, "Well they wouldn't want to Move, I mean they spent a lot of time on it already, but we could as Foremole to take a look at the river banks and see if he can fix it?"

Xander decides to ask "So is the GUOSIM camp ok?" He is curious after all.

Minsc nods "Is ok for now, looking to see on maybe helping for later on though is all my friend, I do know the shrews have some rebuilding planed to do"   

Benar says, "It is fine Xander, but they have had so much trouble with it over the winter we are just discussing ideas to see what we can do to help them rebuild"
   
Xander nods "I..would help but I made a promise to be at the abbey more, which I am better able to do now."He smiles "I...Patch owns the Redthorn Tavern now an he is...doing a very good job, I also have a couple beasts keeping me updated on things with the Defenders Base and no worries no trouble is around and I also dont plan to rush off to find trouble.I plan to be here, for Krisha and our furture dibbun....I have also thought of getting back into pottery but didn't want to without your ok since you...work with clay lot."   

Minsc smiles, he nods "We will help the shrews no worry...we can discuss with Log-A-Log...a slight move a few feet may be good." He listens to Xander and lets him speak now."Time with family...always good"   

Benar nods his head to Xander, "Krisha, told me, I think before you invade the kiln you should think about helping Krisha get set up for the dibbun on their way, a cot, bedding, clothes that sort of thing, But I would welcome you into the kiln to help." he nods to Minsc, "We should chat to Log-a-Log soon about what we can do to help as spring is nearly here."   

Xander nods "I...can see on how to do that sure...maybe learn how to make a like...small bed, ummm crib somehow or find one."   
Minsc nods "Course.."He smiles at Xander "Find a wood worker maybe...beding wouldnt be too hard likely."
   
Benar stands up and smiles, "Well that sounds nice, We have Cribs in the attic Xander, we must have one suitable for a badger babe! You should have a look up there, for now though I do need to head back to the office and get back to work, I will speak to you both soon."
   
Xander nods "Alright Benar and...thanks"   

Minsc asks, "never know what could be in an attic after all, hmmms have there been badger cubs in the abbey before?"
   
Xander answers quietly "Northstar....."He frowns a little now "Her old one maybe is..up there"   

Minsc nods "We could maybe look, I am sue Benar would be fine if we did look"
   
Xander nods "Yeah lets...do that now,something to do"   

Minsc leads the way "Are you ok my friend? You seem one with few words today"   

Xander follows and speaks once they are in the attic "I just...feel like I failed..a lot..Northstar was with me and I was ambushed and..and she died and I couldnt stop it..should of been able to better protect her, and I felt like a failure since that day, my reaction was to..go bloodwrath on that group of vermin, they were a small slaver group and most of them died that day at my paws, the rest got away to who knows where and with who knows who...there was like an otter that got freed,that was all and the otter joined the Defenders...he's a good fighter."   

Minsc says, "You did not fail, no one can be knowing what i to happen and when, it happens...good...bad and life is, unfair.But think on the happy not the sad and think on this future child, it will need you and so will Krisha.It took me a while to not think I failed a whole abbey when that Quade came...I let myself become lost and...in a dark place, it was hard to come out of it and get the light back and I do not want to see that happen to you Xander"
   
Xander nods "It was a...season ago...yeah maybe little more and I am a bit better now. I jut dont want to fail or...lose anyone .Not sure how I could handle it, if like lost a dibbun again or krisha..or a friend"   

Minsc ohs..."Why would you lose her or the child, healers here are very good and births happen to a lot, and...well most are fine"   

Xander frowns "She could of died when....she lost our first dibbun, Northstar was adopted and just happen to be the same age....or close to as the cub she...lost."   

Minsc nods "Try to not worry much...worry is not good"   

Xander says, "I can try"

Minsc smiles "I am here for you my friend."

Xander hugs the hamster and smiles "Thank you Minsc"

Minc returns the hug and smiles as he looks around the attic "Now..where would it be at?"

Xander glaces around and soon...he walks over to a area with a couple boxes and lets tears fall "It..here Minsc..found it."

Minsc walks over and lays a paw on Xander's arm "I am sure Northstar would be fine with another that would of been a baby sister or brother useing this as thier own...it would please her I beliveve"

Xander wipes away tears and nods "yes..it would lets bring this to Krisha."

Minsc nods "Yes let's and I can let the Abbot know we found it"He will help the badger downstairs and to the Badger Mother's room.
