Dimas- New Guard in Ferravale?

Blisa-Chieftain of Ferravale

Nardo-Master Healer in Ferravale

Various spoofs of Guards, TavernBeasts, and Head Guard

LOG:

Patch is busy in the tavern, pouring drinks, getting drinks, and just seems in a bit of a foul mood today "Course he isn't 'ere..Stripy never is 'ere...gonna have a talk with him, for sure I am"

With the snow ever increasing outside Dimas has finally decided to head inside after a quick look around the village. The tavern is of course the obvious place to go too. Entering with a burst of cold wind he slams the door shut quickly and shakes off a little snow before heading for the bar "Wha' y'got tha's warm?" He immediately asks as he butts in to a space at the bar.

Blisa has decided to check on the various establishments in her village to ensure that everyone has what they need to endure the upcoming storm. Ferdinand the ferret and Clarissa the rat are following behind her, doing their bodyguard thing. The Chieftain finally makes it to the tavern, bundled up with her scarf, hat, mittens, and a cloak over a sweater....all black, just like the rest of her outfit. Her bodyguards are wearing uniform-coloured coats and hats and gloves, but they still look cold. The trio makes its way to the bar, and the young cat pulls her scarf down off her muzzle. "How is the tavern with firewood, Patch? Will the storm impact your ability to get fresh water from the well?"

Patch looks first to Dimas "Soup and Fire and Ice ale is always good ta warm a beast"He chuckles and turns to the doorway, he nods "Its fine, for now..Ya know I would send, you know the Tavern Owner to get more firewood but geee...seems he is busy, what is makin' him so busy all of a sudden?"

Dimas flops on to a barstool with a nod to Patch at the suggestion of soup and ale "Tha'll do" He looks around as Blisa appears with her entourage but without knowing who she is he keeps talking to Patch "Who is the owner f'this place 'ere these days?"

Blisa's brows furrow. "Is Xander not here in Ferravale a lot? I hadn't noticed, what with how busy I've been making sure the village has enough supplies to last the winter. Do you know where he is?" The marten is momentarily ignored.

Patch snorts "I don't know...something bout someone being ill and he was concerned..."He glances at the Marten.."Xander winters owns the tavern, but she"He points to Blisa "Is the Chieftain if ya mean de village" He looks back to the feline "I was there...and not going back...got grumbled at and..."Yes lets not mention vomited on "And..yeah"

Dimas shows no sign of knowing who Xander is but he looks surprised when Blisa is pointed out as the chieftain "Wha' 'appened t'the old cat?" He looks her over, judgingly...there's a short pause before he nods, bowing his head slightly as he puts on a smile "Me apologies yer Chieftaininess. Dimas Rauf, at yer service. I worked, briefly, as a guard back in the day round 'ere...times 'ave changed evidentially"

Patch ears flatten and he seems to quickly back off and suddenly seems to need to wash some mugs in the kitchen, rather quickly it seems when he hears the marten talk to Blisa about Scioto.

Blisa cocks an eyebrow, but accepts his apology with a nod. "My father Scioto was assassinated a few seasons back," she says without emotion, but her green eyes are hard. "I became Chieftain in his place." Seems she may be having a good day, although Patch feeling for his life may still have been a good idea. "You were a guard here? Why did you leave?" There is a faint, but sharp edge in her voice as she asks this. They've been betrayed far too often for her to be friendly with old guards.

Dimas can sense the mood as the rat retreats and Blisa doesn't appear to be pleased. For better or worse, he doesn't look scared and looks calmly at the cat, thinking a little more and watching his words "Personal matter..." He senses that will probably not be enough for her though and after a short pause where he picks up his drink he quietly elaborates, not wanting the entire tavern to hear "Me brother got me mother killed fer 'is debts...Family, y'know. Wha' can y'do?"

Patch slips back out quietly and has some ale for Blisa and her guards and some nice soup if they want any and gets to work doing some cleaning up before the place gets more crowded, some beasts have slips off but here in a couple hours the dinner crowd will come.

Blisa listens impassively as her guards sit near her, seemingly intent on eating their soup (although they do switch the ale out for something that doesn't have alcohol -- they are on duty, after all). The Chieftain grabs her ale and takes a sip, keeping her gaze firmly locked on the marten. "I wouldn't know, I have no family left. This brother of yours, though. Sounds like trouble. Any chance he'll be coming to Ferravale looking for some?"

Dimas doesn't appear to be particularly bothered himself. Despite what sounds like a devastating event he shrugs "Nah. 'is debts 'ave been cleared in the permanent sense. Some idiots don't know when t'quit. No family left is the better way t'go. Bein' dead keeps 'em out f'trouble"

Blisa smiles slightly, albeit grimly. "Ah, good. We don't need more lunatics causing us problems." She finally crawls up onto a stool and returns her intense gaze to the marten. "So what brings you back to Ferravale?" Ferdinand and Clarissa may appear to those with no training as a fighter or guard to be absorbed in eating, but in actuality they are on high alert, ready for action at a moment's notice. They're just good at hiding it from casual observers.

Dimas smiles a little too. There's someone who doesn't mind telling someone it's good their family's dead. He likes that "Eh, seein' the old place, makin' sure it's still 'ere. Was thinkin' I'd like t'pick up where I left off an' get back t'work...Tha' last bit bein' dependant on yer an' yer need fer guards...which givin' y'got tha' pair" He tilts his head to the bodyguards "Followin' y'n'watchin' everythin' goin' on near yer I think still be needed" He's not falling for the distracted eating trick.

Nardo should likely not be out doors and yet he is and he manages to get into the tavern with a yelp and after some difficulty he closes the door, ok he has help from a rather tall fox he backs away from.

Blisa's grim smile widens a little. "We could always use more loyal guards in Ferravale." The ferret bodyguard finally looks over, scowling slightly. "Aye, we have had too many beathtth trying to kill the Chieftain or kill her to let her just wander around without extra protection." The rat bodyguard nods. "She be a fierce fighter in 'er own right, but too many beasts c'n still o'erwhelm 'er." The cat gestures to them each in turn. "This is Ferdinand, Head Bodyguard, and Clarissa." She spies the Healer as he manages to get in the door and shakes her head. "Nardo, come here," she instructs in a surprisingly soft voice. She sets her ale down and pulls her mittens off, revealing the adder tattoo she has on her paw. Well, the head is on the back of her paw. Her sleeve covers up the rest of it.

Dimas raises his tankard at the pair of bodyguards and gives them a nod "Makes sense t'ave 'em around if y'ad bother. Yer aspirin' warlord would be 'appy t'try n'take the place, never mind the rest f'the world...I'm takin' tha' as a yes n'the job" He looks round as Blisa speaks to Nardo and gives the ferret a nod.

Nardo slips closer to the chieftain "Its darn right cold outside and yet I decided to come here..then again there is food here, I have yet to really....get a place to stay and, well place supplies"

Blisa shrugs. "You'll have to check with our Head Guard, but I am all for giving you a /chance/." She stares at him levelly over the rim of her tankard. "I assume I don't need to tell you about the dangers of betraying us, though." She raises an eyebrow at the Healer. "I thought we agreed you could live in any spare room you found in the Infirmary? Was there not one?"

Dimas shrugs at Blisa, he'll take the chance "Works fer me, I'll 'unt 'em down an' check with 'em. I ain't one fer grand plans f'betrayal, too much 'ard work" He finishes off his drink "Y'ave any idea where t'find yer guard bloke?...If there's another spare room goin' wouldn't say no t'tha' either"

Nardo nods "One, I do believe it may of belonged to the former Master Healer, there is also one other normal room, could use that, will just dust it..suppose"He seems to dislike the idea of much cleaning but at the same time he likes order to things, clean order to things."Mack by the way..decided to be elsewhere."He shrugs"Ya for him I say..wot ever."He makes it appear he could care less, but he does care..he and Mack were friends."Living a dream of his...and supposedly some order..beast mouse as well"

Blisa suppresses a sigh. Such are the duties of a Chieftain. "Whichever room you choose, clean it out and take it. Nobeast else will do it for you. Learn a lesson from Mack. He and the mouse are doing the work for themselves. Pick which of the rooms you want and do the same, and don't complain to me about it." The cat turns back to the marten as a female rat silently comes up behind him. "The Head Guard likes to be in...unexpected places. Catch the guards under her unawares, make sure they're doing their jobs properly." "You wanted me, m'Lady?" The female rat, now standing directly behind the marten, has a husky, rather deep (for a girl) voice. She is wearing the uniform of the guards of Ferravale, with yellow sunbursts embroidered on the sleeves. "And there she is! Yes, this marten wants to join us as a guard. Apparently he knew my father. I'm willing to give him a chance." Blisa smiles and sips her ale, awaiting the rat's verdict.

Dimas's eyes narrow slightly when Blisa said the head guard liked catching guard unawares so it was less of a surprise when suddenly someone was talking behind him but he still turned to look and out of habit started to stand and tower over the rat before backing on to his seat again "Dimas" He merely introduces himself as he's looking the rat over "...Aye. Wanted t'come back t'me old line f'work"

Nardo nods "Fine fine..I can do that, and get the infirmary in a sort of..more..ABC order of things, It's close now but always good to know where things are, easy to find in times of need ya know"

The Head Guard smiles, paw resting on the hilt of the bastard sword hanging at her side. "Good to meet you. I like to keep my name a secret at first with new guards, but you will learn it soon enough." Her dark eyes study him intently, her brown fur about like that of any other brown rat. Actually, she's pretty average. It would be hard to describe her to someone. "Why would you like to return to being a guard here at Ferravale? Just curious." Blisa turns to the Healer. "The other Healers should help you with anything in the main Infirmary, Nardo. They need to know where everything is after it's rearranged.

Dimas squints at the head guard over the name thing. He doesn't seem to particularly like that but he doesn't question it, just answers the question with a shrug as he slouches back against the bar "'Cause the job options fer a figthin' vermin ain't much once y're past listenin' t'horde leaders, thieves an' murders. Yer options fer a payin' job tha' don't involve workin' fer an insane dictator that'll kill y't'make a point are pretty slim"

The Head Guard nods. "True enough. When you're through in here, come to the barracks and we'll find you a bed. It may take a few days, but we'll get you a uniform, as well. Consider yourself hired." She silently walks out the door, as abruptly as she entered. Blisa seems unperturbed as she continues sipping her ale. "She would make a good assassin," the cat cheerfully comments.

Dimas eyes her uniform. He didn't look particularly happy about that either but there's no voiced objection as he watches her leave again without a word. His ear twitches towards the cat but he keeps watching the door "Aye...she 'as tha' 'I'll poison y'in yer sleep' feelin' t'er...Little indirect but I guess it'll put the fear int' the troops anyway"

Blisa chuckles, seemingly at ease talking about scary people who might kill you. "I trust her with my life, though. She has proven unswervingly loyal. So long as a beast is a friend to us, they have nothing to worry about. Although I do pity any warlord who comes along should they face her." Ferdinand has finished his soup, and he sets it behind the counter. "The doeth make the other guardth obey, though. They don't dare do otherwise." Clarissa is still sopping up the dregs of soup with a hunk of bread, so she doesn't say anything.

Dimas finally gets up from his chair "I always believed more in choppin' 'eads off t'sneaky poisonin' but" A shrug "Wha'ever gets the job done" He's certainly not the most formal guard in history but he seems to be doing as he's told "I'm goin' t'find these barracks an' claim me spot before the snow drives the whole forest in"

Blisa nods. "I have a slight aversion to poison myself, seeing as that's how my father was killed, but I don't outlaw it, either." She smiles. "Sounds like an excellent plan. It's right by the gates, so just go there and tell them the Head Guard and the Chieftain have sent you there and you'll be fine." Her bodyguards wave to him. "Have a good evening," the cat advises, seeming to be at ease with the thought of possibly being snowed in here.

Dimas doesn't comment on her father. He's learning! He nods to the directions "Righ', easy enough t'find tha'. Maybe when the snow calms I'll 'ave a look fer me old place. If it ain't fallen down by now" A vague wave over his shoulder and he's off, pulling his cloak back on as he steps back out in to the snow.

Patch meanwhile had  swept, cleaned tables and moped..all the while watching, studying and listening to Blisa,Dimas and the guards talk, the Head Guard is likely use to him doing this at times, he is a spy after all and likes to know what goes on in and outside the village, also in Mossflower when he can.He quietly slips to his office after a while, before making sure to check on the snow, well..he is likely to have to put up with tavern guests for tonight as some decided to stick around ...wonderful...not.
