Slay The Pike-Camp Willow/ Guosim LOG

Some spoofs of other otters and shrews and of course the pike!

LOG:

Today was the day, the pike was going down. It was decided to meet at the canal area or least that is the end goal to get the pike there, trap it, and slay it and signs of the Pike were seen just yesterday and once this morning briefly so it was around, now to get its attention and get it to where it can be trapped.

Vilfred was along the path with some of the shrews, some stayed at the Gousim camp.He paced a little in thought.

Lyra watches him pace as she sits off to the side , she offers a smile "Your gonna make a new canal if ya pace long enough dear...I am sure this will go well."She hopes anyways.

Gaheris is by the canal already, assembling otters with javelins and giving some of them edges of nets. He orders a couple to check ropes or keep an eye out for the fish "Try t'keep back from the edge! Don't want it gettin' spooked an' swimmin' off!" he yells as he checks the gates of the canal for the fourth time.

Berwin watches the river "So..wot now..we like wait and make it interested in coming this way?"

Leigh frowns, she was not one of the fighters, more a healer but also had some good skills in tracking and fixing things, she shrugs, "It was around earlier I think"

Aqua stayed closer, her daughter was with a caretaker, "All I know is its dangerous to get to close to."

Deniz is helping with the ropes and netting, he scans the area frowning slightly, part of him though is glad its not showing it self, part wants it to so it like...goes away.

Xander promised he would help, but he wasn't sure just how helpful he would be but he did decide to follow the shrews to camp Willow, he was helping the shrews with their camp so he should help with the pike issue as well.

Vilfred nods "There is plan...and I don't know how to make a pike show itself" He grins when he sees Xander "Ha Ha ya ya came, having some strong arms around will surely help with this." One of the shrews snorted "You best not be bait Log-A-Log" The shrew is assured no he won't be this bait, but the question is...how are they going about this.

Lyra nods and a glace at the water it just seems too calm to her right now, yes there is times the river is calm but calm right now makes her edgy.

Gaheris looks out at the calm river for a moment before he huffs a irritated noise "Too much t'ave it just show up on cue, eh? I think we might 'ave t'toss somethin' in an' wiggle it around or somethin'. Does everyone know wha' they're doin' when it gets 'ere?"

Berwin says, "I can help using my sling, also if needed help with netting some as well."

Leigh nods, she has been keeping an eye on the river for clues of where it is"Gousim healer but lets hope no one is seriously hurt...or worse"

Deniz nods and then hmmms "Ummm...not sure..your de boss Skipper I can help with nets...distract the pike maybe...open/ shut gate?"

Xander listens as everyone speaks and sighs, he clears his throat "Lending a strong paw for the netting..probably where I will be more helpful...I..."He frowns "Can't really help with any fighting in the river sort of..cant swim..but can keep ahold of ropes or netting once its caught and trapped, maybe move anything heavy"

Vilfred grins "Of course..." He looks at the river when there is some splashing and lays a paw on his rasiper a moment and then relaxes, right it needs water it wouldn't go on land duhhhhh. "So thinking it is...arrived?"

Lyra frowns as she backs up from the river a little, but she stays near Log-A-Log to see where she is needed and when.

Gaheris nods once to Deniz "Aye, get the gate. The moment it's through y'shut it fast. There's goin' t'be all our fish escapin' at the same time so keep yer eye on the pike" he looks surprised when there's movement in the water and he goes to clap a paw against the Log-a-log's shoulder "Good fer us mate, 'e's makin' it easy" he waves a paw to a few otters by the entrance to the inlet to get them to pull a net over and try and trap it from getting back to the river. He grabs a rope to tie around his waist "If we're lucky an' it ain't too bright we won't even need bait" he nods to Deniz "If everyone's ready open the gates. Try an' drive it in with the nets but no one gets in the water!"

Berwin hmmmms "Maybe we...bump it but towards this canal."Yeah he is fine as he listens, ok block the way of escape off with the net they just need to make sure the net is blocking it so seems they have to for sure know where it is.

Leigh frowns but has a sling and stones ready if needed, she watches the river closely for other movement.

Aqua is close by in case a healer is needed, seeing the pike yesterday made her a little scared of it, "How do we make sure it is...trapped for sure or rather blocked to go to the canal?"

Deniz nods "No river...good idea..good plan."He looks to where some movement was frowning a little but he goes to the gate ready to do this, he will open it and as said shut it back quickly maybe the netting will also help trap some of the fish from escaping too, or least some larger ones. A few small fish were placed in a barrel, not too many but a few at least. Fish could be replaced..lives couldn't

Xander watches the river as well and goes to help a couple otters with the thick ropes and netting, "So..where is the pike?"

Vilfred nods staying alert "Essy maybe friend otter....but nothing is ever easy..."He is right as the pike is close but not yet close enough to get to where netting and rope can help block it. He mutters something as he thinks looking down the river and at the canal gate, back to where some movement was earlier, going into the river is a bad idea but something needs to distract the pike a little, yet at the same time done so in a way no one possible dies.

Lyra watches Log-A-Log closely frowning at any bad ideas as she speaks "Don't you dare have some crazy idea."

Gaheris mutters a few words of irritation as the fish doesn't get closer on it's own. Alas no one is there to tell the Skipper not to do stupid things as he sticks his tail in the water to bang it on the canal gates "Here fishy fishy" it probably won't be enough while it's too far away though.

Berwin frowns as he watches the Skipper "Is..that a good plan?" He is helping with the netting, others are as well of course. The shrew sighs as he looks over the edge, a little too close as he lets go of the netting letting some others keep ahold of it and has a few rocks he sort of tosses into the river "Maybe just need noise in one direction and it will come..."Of course the edge of the shore is slippery and gives way some, thanks to some rain last night, a surprised yelp and he tumbles into the river, but being a shrew he is not too worried he can swim, but getting out may be a good idea before the pike really does come close .

Leigh is ready and frowns "So this could take a little time..."Her eyes widen when Berwin falls in , oh that can't be a good thing.

Aqua frowns "Skipper...."The splash is heard as she quickly looks in that direction and frowns even more, yes they want the pike to come but maybe not so quickly right now as she starts to dive in after the shrew but is a little unsure whether it's a good idea or not, the pike is there somewhere and she sort of freezes and doesn't jump into the river.

Vilfred shrugs "Is fine..could take time...we will get de...pike...."He stops as he sees "Berwin!!

A lot happens at once, a couple other shrews tense up and look at Log-A-Log who looks ready to for sure jump in..then quickly backs up as guess who..it's the Pike and it is large, not as large as maybe some of the past but it's fairly big for a pike and it shows itself now as it heads right for Berwin! It goes to snap at him and is close to that gate now, but also close to the shrew. Thee is also some gasps on the shore! someone yells "Swim for it!!!"

Lyra gasped when she sees this...not good, not good at all. She gets out some stones and swings her sling around to throw a stone at the pike!

Gaheris is keeping an eye out for the pike for fear of his own tail before the splash as from Barwin falling in makes his head shot up "'ell!" he curses as he springs in that direction "Don't!" he yells at Aqua as she moves towards the water. He grabs a rope and goes to toss one end out towards Berwin "Grab it!" he yells, tossing the other end towards Xander "'ey badger! Pull 'im fast if 'e gets hold f'it!" he shouts before quickly pointing at Deniz "Open it!" he's hoping the fish escaping might distract the pike long enough for Berwin to get out.

Xander is too worried to correct the skipper on his name , he catches the rope and goes right away to get Berwin out of the water once the shrew has a hold of the rope.

Berwin starts to get to the surface when his footpaw is grabbed and then panic sets in as he kicks at the pike and barely manages to get to the surface, he swings a little and grabs the rope getting it around his middle and holding on tight as the pike brushes against him, he decides it's best to lose a rasiper as he uses a free paw to stab the pike in the snout with the rasiper and then yells "Pull me out Pull me out now!!!"

Vilfred gasps as he gets ready to help where needed and watch the pike. Yje pike circles Berwin once and tries to snap at him again, he sways close to the gate and circles around a couple times being very acyive now that there is some blood in the water and live bait that looks to be getting away hopefully.

Deniz quickly goes to open the gate as others now can block the pike in a small area with the ropes and netting, of course the fish do escape the canal, some achally stay inside the canal as if the pike is coming in they are going further inside...but about half the fish are gaining from freedom it looks like or...maybe they are lunch, some smaller ones can and will get past the netting and ropes.

Lyra watches as everything seems to happen at once, well so much for it staying quiet and calm, she keeps an eye on Berwin and the large pike and has a sling out with another rock ready to go.

Leigh quickly goes to help Berwin as he is likely injured, just how injured is unclear yet as she has her medical pack with her.

Aqua gasps and tenses up a little, she backs away from the river and tumbles into her bottom a little shaken up now, she will let the shrew healer tend to Berwin.

Gaheris backs up from the edge a bit as the pike gets closer, he just hopes the shrew can get out fast enough, going in to help seems like death. He quickly sprints down to the other end of the canal to bang the end of a javelin on the canal walls hard to try and stir up the water "Come on y'scaly monster! Leave 'em an' come over 'ere!" a lot of the fish speed to escape the canal but it's only seconds before many of them are swimming back down it to try and keep away from the pike at the gates.

Vilfred looks over at where Berwin is and at the pike, a lot is going on with nets and ropes blocking the pike and now all the fish in the canal and some escape down the river, some fish stay between the canal and the netting.

The pike circles and tries to snap at the shrew again, then it sees fish and snaps at them instead, eating about 3-4 of the fish and following some right into the canal and towards the back where the Skipper is.

Deniz waits, he waits and then lets the gate drop hopefully trapping the pike, he did try and make sure the pike was inside before he let the gate slam shut.

Lyra watches and waits to see what happens, the panicking fish, the pike, all the yelling and nets and ropes blacking it or hopefully blocking the pike but she is ready with her sling if needed.

Berwin could care less if his blade is now stuck in the pikes face, he pants and shakes a little as he is now on shore, he was never one to really panic but today he was almost lunch. His lower leg is bleeding and he has a couple rope burns on his paws from holding on too tight in fear. Some bruising on his side as well but he is alive!

Leigh there to tend to him "Hey its ok Berwin, your out...your safe. Let me look you over, make sure your ok.."She looks at his leg and his paws, ok leg is worse so she tends to that first.

Aqua walks closer and watches "Is it..trapped Skipper?"

Xander sighs in relief as Berwin is on shore now but he is still ready to help with anything else needed.

Gaheris backs up fast as soon as he sees Deniz lowers the gate and he waves beasts back "Back up! Don't get close! If we got 'im 'e ain't goin' t'be too 'appy when 'e figures out 'e's trapped!" he jumps back a little as he sees a big fin surface and disappear "'e's in there alright! Pin 'im with the nets an' start throwin' stuff at 'im!" he launches a javelin off blindly in to the water.

The pike circles and ...yep it is one very peeved pike! It starts widely swimming around and even breaks one netting and tries to break another net as the spear hits it in the back, an arrow gets it in the fin and only seems to anger it worse!

Vilfred gets out a sling and a couple shrews have longbows they fire at the pike also, a couple miss it and one arrow to the head and the pike is still alive and very much active but also injured now too.

Lyra keeps an eye on things and sighs in relief, the pike is trapped it can't go anywhere and as long as beasts don't fall in it can’t harm anyone.

Berwin shivers some as his injuries are tended to and looks towards where the canal is and slowly is calming down but his leg is gonna need stitches.

Leigh has all her focus on the shrew she is helping best she can. She is in healer mode basically so won't be doing much looking at anything else or talking.

Xander helps with any netting and ropes to keep the pike as down as its gonna get, he growls once when the pike fights but keeps a good grip on the rope and netting.

Deniz steps back and watches, if needed he goes to help.

After the first javelin the Skipper grabs his bow from the shore to start firing arrows instead "Keep goin'! It can't live through this. Watch those nets! If Y'feel y'self gettin' pulled too close let go. It can tangle itself up but y'don't get in the water!"

Vilfred goes to help with the netting as well now as the pike is fighting and pulling and trying to get beasts to fall into the water, some netting is tangled around the pike now as a couple more spears hit it, its movements do slow but it's still moving, just not as much now.It gives one very hard yank at the ropes.

Deniz jumps up to help when one otter almost falls in and that otter backs up. Deniz himself almost trips and yips a little but manages to stay on the shoreline, barely...

Lyra frowns, she gets more stones and swings..fires them at the pike, one shrew backs up as the rope gives a little, another fires off an arrow and it hits the pike.

Berwin frowns as he has calmed, some sort of glance over at the others and frowns, he stays still so his leg is tended to but there is clearly some pain.

Xander keeps a hold of the rope tighter and only lets go with one paw to grab the pack of Deniz's tunic and pulled him back to the shore and away from the canal edge.

Gaheris keeps up with the arrows firing one after the other "It's slowin' down! We nearly got it! Don't trust it though, don't get too close!" it's getting hard to see through the blood and froth but tracking the pike's movements with all the stuff sticking out of it was easy enough.

Vilfred keeps an eye on the pike, when it's slowed by a lot he goes to check on Berwin.

The pike makes a few more tries at escape only to get more and more tangled up, it slows more and soon its movement stops totally and the water sort of calms again as the pike lays still..full of arrows, spears. has that one rasiper in its face and some areas where rocks and stones hit it, cuts from the roping....the pike is clearly very very dead now.

Lyra stays calm and swings another ock a couple times, when it's clear the pike is dead she sits down to relax finally and looks glad it's taken care of finally.

Berwin soon has his leg bandaged and some herbal solution on some bruises and cuts, his paw are sore from the ropes as he frowns , mutters something about how is he supposed to do anything later.,

Leigh checks the paws and bandages them last after using a little aloe she has, she will need to find more as she speaks "CAlm yourself Berwin I am sure someone else can help cook meals for a few days...You're gonna need to rest"

Deniz looks at the dead pike and gulps.."So ..errrrr....what now?"

Xander is sitting down and looks around, he has a little rope burn himself on one paw and frowns, "Great...."He mutters and looks around, well things are a lot calmer now thats for sure.

There's a few more things thrown even after the fish stops moving it was just that scary. The Skipper hesitates, arrow still ready for a few seconds before he finally shouts "Hold!" and at least the otters should stop "...Lets 'aul it out, get it on the shore" he finally glances to the others, mostly focusing on Berwin "Everyone alrigh'?"

Vilfred nods as he watches the otters and a couple others start to hawl the pike out of the water, once its out its clear...yep dead dead pike. The Log-A-Log finally sits on a nearby tree stump that's by Berwin and frowns, he didn't want injuries to happen but then it could of been a lot lot worse.

Deniz says, "I think so..."He looks at the pike and shivers "Ok..fish with teeth that looks like a snake...worse than a shark I think""

Lyra nods "I am fine...most seem to be fine maybe sore muscles "

Berwin frowns , he finds his voice finally "I ..almost got ate but...hey...otherwise..fine...sore...hey ouch"His leg hurts and the bandaged paw is a little too tight at first.

Leigh looks around "Any rope burns I need to know of..bruises can't do much for" She assumes the otters have a healer as well around so maybe they can tend to some lighter injuries if any.

Xander sighs as he looks at his paw, he grumbles as rope burns sting, it's not too bad of one but still will need looked at.

Gaheris doesn't really relax until the fish is on land and really, really, very clearly dead. Few cuts and bruises, no one dead. He'll call that good. He finally shoulders his bow "Not exactly t'plan but it got the job done, eh?" he finally barks out a laugh and grins.

Vilfred studies the pike after checking on Berwin and chuckles "We fought a pike...sort of...and won and yes no one died is very good fact to have"

The pike..is on land, its dead but what to do with the dead pike now.....

Deniz looks closer at it and shakes his head 'That thing is..ugly too"

Lyra says, "I am glad no one died...I don't think either of us wanted to lose anyone""

Leigh looks around and stands to check on Xander "I can look at your paw...if you let me or maybe just let me look at it"

Xander looks at the shrew healer and snorts, ok he is grumpy "I..am fine.."His paw is red and swollen but yeah..he is so fine, yeah right.

Gaheris nods at the healers getting to work and he heads for the dead pike on the shore, going to give it a little shove with his footpaw "Thing's as big as me! 'ow the 'ell do they get this size? Must 'ave eaten 'alf the fish in the river" he looks back to Vilfred "Wha' do y'want t'do with it? Could 'ave a nice pike skull fer yer wall"

Vilfred loos at the large fish "I..am not knowing...hmms pike skull...maybe"

Deniz frowns and speaks "How about someone eats IT for dinner...it be fitting since it tried to eat us"

Lyra makes a face at the idea of pike , "Yeah someone else can." She stands by Log-A-Log "Your have to update some others that its no longer a threat and I am very glad that thing is finally dead before it killed anyone else"

Berwin frowns "It almost ate ME...."He sighs and has a bandaged leg, and a couple paws bruises as he frowns and sits up slowly or starts to, ok pain..so he stays layed down. "Never wanna see a pike again.."

Leigh frowns at the badger and shakes her head"Fine...be that way ya grump" Not that shrews aren't grumps too? She hmmps and will just let someone else look at the badger's paw as she mutters and goes to sit down on a stump to tend to one shrews shoulder that was slightly bruised and they have a cut on their paw.

DoraRose has been here, quietly helping pull the pike up onto shore. I mean, she can wield a double-headed, double-pawed battle axe and a war hammer (although not at the same time). Her strength came in handy! She lets the Healers check on her paws, patient and stoic. Glancing at Xander, she says, "Let them check your paws. You REALLY don't want my grandmother doing it, right?"

Gaheris shrugs at the Log-a-log "'ey y'don't want it as a trophy I'd take it. Can tell everyone y'killed a giant pike then show 'em the proof" he glances to Denzi "Y'want t'eat pike y'go right ahead...Assumin' y'can find a bit tha' ain't full of arrows" he chuckles.

Vilfred chuckles "Didn't say not wanting...as fer rest of pike...no clue"He grins kind of liking the idea of a pike skull, it might be cool.

Deniz shrugs and looks at the pike "Maybe.... feed it to other fish,"He sighs as they are likely gonna be busy recatching some of the fish that got out and away, well some fish are still here at least and some others managed to get a few of the fish that were between a net and the gate to the canal but some of those slipped away as well in the short chaos.

Lyra sighs and looks at Log-A-Log "Oh now ya want a trophy....whatever."She gives him a playful shove and smiles, glad this worry is behind everyone

Berwin sits up and sighs "Could of been worse...yeah we can like say look here ya threats this could be you.....and I fer one am not cooking pike" Well he isn't cooking much for a few days, though he could tell helpers how to cook.

Leigh looks at the badger again from a distance, leaving it up to him as she is done tending to others small injuries, bruise, maybe rope burns here and there.

Xander glares at Dorrose "I said..I am FINE" He frowns at the voice level and sighs as he goes to sit down somewhere and looks at his paw, one is fine as it held onto an otter, the other one...well it could be worse but it's a bit bad rope burn, it will heal up fine..with a healers help.He tests making a fist and snorts as it hurts a bit.

DoraRose sighs and walks over to the badger. "Xander, you may be fine, but you should let the Healers check on you, just to be sure. C'mon, 1 Warrior to another, pretending to be okay when you're not isn't brave, but rather foolish." She glances over at the Skipper and Log-a-Log. "Trophies....there's 1 thing y'all would agree with Blisa about..."

Gaheris grins at Vilfred "We'll get the skull cleaned up all nice fer y', be ready t'take back 'ome with y'if y'stay fer lunch" A few otters are trying to untangle small fish from the nets to get them back in to the canal where there's enough dead fish for a feast already. The Skipper suddenly straightens up and looks serious as Xander raises his voice "Oi! We got a problem?" his tone suggests they better not be causing trouble. He narrowed his eyes at the badger and mouse before finally looking back to the others "We'll take some f'it, toss it back t'the fish" another chuckle "Maybe we'll cook a bit, see if the rumours f'it's bad taste are true"

Vilfred chuckles and hmms "Perhaps stay for lunch is good...."He glances at Xander and frowns, ok a chat later maybe.He smiles at Berwin "You faces a pike and lived, is  good story for round a campfire yes?" He chuckles, yes the shrews will keep the skull....others can have the pike.

Deniz says, "Maybe pike is like...good, who knows"

Lyra shakes her head "Yeah a pike skull....then you know what could be interesting to have after all"

Berwin grins, he is sore but feeling a little better "Yes I faced death in de face...take that death!"

Leigh rolls her eyes and looks at the badger, she will look at his paw if he wants or he can just have it looked at later.

Xander frowns, why is he having anger issues lately..he takes a deep breath and exhales and a frown..he opens his paw ro let the healer look and mutters a "Sorry...." He looks at the skipper as he speaks again "S..Sorry sir...just...sorry"He frowns as he is sorry as he just stares at the ground, he has been moody lately off and on.He looks at Dorarose and then the ground again as he sighs softly....great he doesn't need beasts hating him, the past few weeks have just been....rather annoying.

DoraRose smiles and goes to rub the badger's back. "Hey, it's okay. I'm just lookin' out for you, is all, kinda like I would my children. Don't worry too much." She gives the Skipper her most charming smile. "The only problem I have is how hungry wrestling with that fish made me!" It isn't a lie. She really is hungry.

Gaheris nods once at Xander and Dora. No trouble, good "Food it is then!" he gathers up a few of the dead fish from the nets, they'll do for lunch. His grin returns in a second as he looks at Berwin "The secret is in the embellishment mate! Y'got t'say y'jumped in t'come t'the rescue f'twenty dibbuns an' stabbed the fish square in the head!...Tha' last bit is even true"

Vilfred is in a fairly good mood right now, he does look over at xander and dorarose and back to the others as he grins "I do say a good victory and maybe us shrews can be helping Camp Willow recatch some fish or help in other way later on"

Deniz is relaxing as he looks around, hmmms someone must of went back to the otter camp, he shrugs and relaxes "It's a good day then"

Lyra sits by Vilfred and smiles "I say we have lunch and help out some , we can head home in the morning and update the others"

Berwin grins now "I did stab it in the face with my rasiper.....where is my rasiper anyways I want it back"

Leigh bandages his paw after she checks on it and apples herbs, she stands and nods before heading on to check on something, maybe help with some fixing the netting.

Xander sits still as his paw is bandaged and then stands, he quietly walks off down a path not too far away. It's not clear where he is going but he likely isn't staying for dinner today.

DoraRose frowns as the badger wanders off. She is about to follow him, but then decides against it. She can check on him later, and as long as it doesn't rain, she should be able to follow his tracks. He'll probably be okay. Walking over to the Skipper, she smiles and goes to help untangle fish from the netting. "Is there anything else a simple Gatekeeper can do to help?"

Gaheris inclines his head towards the dead fish with the rapier still in it's head "Y'welcome t'get it back" he nods to the Log-a-log "Aye, sure, get 'em back in if y'can. If not, well, at least they'll replace some f'the fish the pike must 'ave taken from the river!" he looks back to Dora and grabs an empty barrel "'ere, y'can 'elp the Guosim. Any dead fish y'can put in 'ere. We'll eat 'em or feed 'em back t'the canal an' river" he gestures to a couple of otters to get some help pulling weaponry from the pike and departing it's head for cleaning and some from the body for a meal "We'll get yer a victory feast sorted!"

Vilfred chuckles, he goes to get the rasiper and nods to Berwin "I will keep it safe Berwin, no worries you just rest and heal"

Deniz smiles "We should get some of the mushroom pasties also, and some rolls....oh and we have some berries left too."

Lyra yawns as she is tried and may take a quick nap before dinner, all is well and good now, the river is safe again.

Berwin smiles "Ya best keep that safe Log-A-Log..trust me I am gonna want it back when we get to camp"

DoraRose nods and does as she's instructed, although not as quickly as the otters. She's not used to dealing with nets, so it's a bit of a challenge for her, but she proves herself capable and helps get the fishies where they belong. She focuses mostly on the live ones, wanting to spare them from further suffering. No creature should suffer needlessly! So the Warrior saves as many as she can, dropping them back into the river. And boy, is she ever getting hungry...

Gaheris gestures back towards the camp "Our 'ealers can show y'where our infirmary is" he says before laughing at Deniz "Tha' sounds like a volunteer t'elp make food t'me!" he grabs a few fish to take with him "Time f'food an' some extravagant tales f'monster slayin'!" he yells as he walks off back to camp.

Vilfred chuckles, he will help make sure Berwin gets to the infirm, it's fine the shrews can stay the rest of the day, have dinner...spend the night and leave after breakfast maybe. The pike is dead and all is well on the river again

The feast is good, there is songs  and stories made  about the great evil pike and how it died a glorious death! The feast has fish, it has rolls..mushroom pastries.The shrews help make their famous shewbread and some apple tarts
