Plans To Rid The River of The Pike-Guosim/ Camp Willow LOG

WHO:

Vilfred- Log-A-Log

Deniz- Boat builder otter from Camp willow

Gaheris-Skipper of Camp Willow

Aqua- Healer Otter from Camp Willow

Berwin-Cook from Gousim

Couple spoofed Guosim

LOG:

The woods and river seemed so calm one could almost forget there was killer fish about but Skipper was expecting a visit from the shrews at any moment and had told the guards to send them this way to the canal. The canal itself was old as time and Gah knew it's history with pike but he was a little uneasy as he stood by the edge and watched the little fish the otters had been breeding in the waters swimming about.   

Deniz has been looking around the camp and exploring a little and now sits to take a break, he speaks to Skipper "Hey Skipper...you doing well today?"   

Aqua was nearby, she left Melody with a caretaker for now, she will check on her later.She is happy to home, though does miss the beach also.She glaces over at the others but decides to stay where she is, least for now in case they are busy.   

Vilfred has Berwin and a couple other shrews with him as he speaks "Course I be knowing where I am going..."Ok a little lost, then sees the otters and grins "See told ya."   

Berwin looks around and folds his arms over his chest "You were lost admit it..I am all for learning the way around but not fer getting lost."
   
Gaheris looks back when he hears Deniz "'Ey. Enjoyin' yer new 'ome? Just waitin' fer- ah, there we are" His thoughts interrupted as the shrews arrive "Log-a-Log! Welcome. Safe travels I'm 'opin'? No trouble on the river?"   

Deniz nods "I like it so far, more areas to see still but its nice"   

Aqua walks over when the shrews arrive , curious as to why they are here. But she will let Skipper do the talking for now.   

Vilfred nods "No troubles the past couple days at least, which is good but pike is surely still around. We have mainly stayed busy in our camp..even checked de old camp for a short while, but no troubles recently"   

Berwin waves "No one has seen it doesn't mean tis not there still, then few of us been by the river the past few days just to be on the safe side"   

Gaheris nods once "Good but aye, pike tha' size ain't likely t'just up an' disappear. Worse case is it's moved on t'terrorise some other beasts" He's briefly distracted to nod a greeting to Aqua "Didn't see y'idin' there" He looks back to the shrews "So, y'were lookin' fer a plan t'take care ah it?"   

Deniz says, "That pike is a little scary, though sharks are worse but no worries sharks are only in the sea"   

Vilfred nods "Yes, a plan...and good one. A net maybe but would need to be strong and a good way to trap...and slay it, what do with afterwards, no clue..but left to go back and forth in de river it can harm someone...it has..hurt someone and killed least one beast..maybe another"Thought the other was a vermin that was stealing a log boat so maybe they don't count as much.   

Berwin sighs and stays by the other couple shrews that taged along, like guards or scouts maybe "Last time it was seen between here and the Gousim camp, before that closer to the camp, seems ta like the middle of the river unless there is a beast in the river at the time it is"

"The sharks were fun t'join in the 'unt on but I wouldn't want 'em near 'ome" The Skipper says to Deniz before he nods at the canal as he talks to the shrews "We used t'ave a pike, well, we is a bit ah a stretch, the camp did. Was back before the abbey was made. I think they lured it in 'ere an' trapped it but I ain't sure on the details of how they did it"   

Aqua listens quietly before speaking "I rather have no sharks or pikes here, normal fish only please."   

Deniz grins "I could punch it again"Yeah he punched the pike and he is proud of the fact even if he fainted afterwards once on shore, he survived, he is brave as he smiles at Aqua."I would keep ya safe....and ummm..the guards too or just wait ti swim till its gone which be...soon right?" He looks to the others.   

Vilfred looks at the canal, the gates mainly and the fish and hmmms...."Not being sure...not like be easy to get it inside....then inside thar is always shoot with arrows or spears..rid waters of pike and rid of fears of possible attack or ...death as both our groups want to enjoy the river, get fish got boating or maybe swimming in otters case."   

Berwin says, "Well I dont think pike would be on a menu plan if it does die, get rid of it I say and just fer ya info Log-A-Log you best not voleterr to be bait...rather not have a new leader when its not even been a full season since..."He frowns now, yeah lets not bring up memories of Alllea.
   
Gaheris smirks at Deniz "We'll keep y'punchin' it as a back up plan" He gets some of the scraps they'd been using to feed the fish in the canal and crouches down by the edge to throw some in and watch the fish quickly swim about to get it "Much as I 'ate t'undo our 'ard work 'ere I reckon this place could 'old a pike again but whether we get it 'ere or trap it out with nets gettin' it is the problem, it's got too much river t'ide in, we can't 'unt it down" He nods at Berwin "Bait is just wha' we need"   

Deniz chuckles "Maybe its staying in the same..genral area or its moved elsewhere..most likely find out, well somehow but like carefully find out"   

Aqua frowns "Yeah but ...bait..what sort of bait? And do we know when it may be around more often like time of day, that would be helpful" She will likely need to be around in case a healer is needed.   

Vilfred nods "I..know...not gonnna purposely be bait for a large fish, not to worry."He is thinking on a plan"Nets be good...as fer bait am not..knowing...some sort of fresh cut up fish?"   

Berwin sighs, wait they do want bait? He frowns "Yesh but any live bait could end up dead bait,,then what? Unless ye got a really fast tricky swimmer and luck"   

Gaheris gestures out towards the river as he's thinking "'e's got an entire river full ah fish, I don't know tha' wavin' some bits around is likely t'get 'is attention"   

Deniz says, "Maybe someone swimmimg....well maybe" He knows it could be dangerous..."So wot do we do?"

Aqua frowns at Deniz and shakes her head "I am sure we can think of something, what did they do before? Is there records here or at the abbey or was that before the abbey was even around?"   

Vilfred sits to think and studies the canal and gate frowning a little "There is...always way to do things just...think, maybe learn way to here from river....and if see pike somehow be leading it here or force it to come this way"   

Berwin rolls his eyes "Can we get it here without possible death? That be nice Log-A-Log..I am all fer getting rid of this pike though, its still here somewwhere and likely waiting ta strike again...it.."He is grumpy , when isnt he "It killed Ash...about killed Lyra too...."   

Gaheris stares at the canal gates too, thinking "Alrigh'" He finally says "'ow about this. We get out in boats big enough it can't tip 'em an' we drive it this way. We double up some nets, bind 'em t'gether. If we get lucky an' catch 'em on the way, great. If not..." He nods at the canal "We open the gates. The fish gettin' out might get 'is attention if 'e's close. We 'ave one otter, I'll volunteer meself, t'swim at the far end ah the canal an' draw 'im in. Put a rope on me, 'aul me out second 'e gets inside an' shut the gates on 'im" he runs the idea through his head again and frowns "Thoughts?"   

Deniz frowns a little but seems to think " Guess gates wouldn't need open...too long and you be on this side of the gate..rope is good long as its a strong one and we..hope fer the best?"
   
Aqua frowns "Hope for......?" She dislikes the idea and looks at the canal and gates and sighs "Gonna take a little while to make some good strong nets....but still"   

Vilfred listens as he studies the river entry of the canal, the canal and gates as he is quiet, then "Been making one large net, not done yet....plan could work if all go well..plan could also go badly too, no one knows how plan will go or how anything will go till happens. Pike seems to like area between camps, so far...and couple times been around close to dusk...maybe once in morning was seen briefly...so maybe possible time to look...and try and be ready in case shows up and not have things ready"   

Berwin listens and frowns its clear he dislikes any idea of live bait but there is likely no other way.   

"Y'got a better plan I'm all ears" The Skipper isn't exactly happily jumping in to pike infested water but it's the best he's got "We've got some big nets but it'll take some work t'bind 'em an' make 'em strong enough"   

Deniz says, "Might need someone to make sure it goes the right way.....maybe and not..really..others have a point it could like harm someone and it may be easier to like..l say somehow in the canal, less room to like swim much...""He frowns at a thought less room for anyone or anything else to swim too if the pike is angry."So...we likely have time to plan and stuff......right?"   

Aqua shakes her head and speaks quietly "I will make sure the infirm is well stocked..."   

Vilfred says, "Strong beasts to pull..."He suddenly grins"I KNOW a beast..a badger!"He chuckles "He been helping at the camp..a badger be perfect to help pull nets"
   
Berwin raises an eyebrow, the other two shrews nod, yep there is the badger .He shrugs "Long as he dont fall into de river...could be helpful and if needed he has a large sword...then again...yeah just help with nets is good not sure if could stab de pike if was in the river supposedly he cant swim"   

Aqua listens to them all chat "Can a beast fight with a blade under water if they had to.."She frowns as she is tapped on the shoulder "Great....teething, got to go...and if its too soon or when ever it is, no one die ok"   

Deniz watches Aqua head off and looks at the shrews and Skipper as seems to be a lot of thinking today"I don't..fighting requires one to breath good and one cant breath under water....well too long anyways"   

Gaheris looks at Vilfred at the mention of a badger "Aye, tha' would 'elp with the nets. I don't think any ah us should be tryin' t'get close enough t'use blades though"
   
Vilfred nods "No....could add more danger and yes...badger be helpful and I am sure he would help make sure nets hold and we get pike to canal and get it inside...get whimever is inside out quickly and...then take down pike, then...well...do something with it "   

Berwin shrugs "Somone can cook de pike I dont care...once tis gone it be a lot more peaceful round here...sort of like having the badger around fer de season"   

Deniz listens as they plan"Never caught any pike before....my father once almost caught a shark but it got away."   

Gaheris wrinkles his nose "I still say pike tastes 'orrible. Can use the darn thing t'get all me fish back!" He gestures to the fish in the canal "Mount it's skull on a wall or somethin'"   

Berwin chuckles at the idea "Like a trophie..hmmms we can help get some fish back, hopefully ya wont lose too many"

Deniz smiles "Fishing is always fun and we can wait till its like right up assist the gate and open it, close it quickly and...as said whom ever is...well bait is pulled out quick as well"   

Vilfred nods "We have a plan just need ta work on it and hope it works with no issues...I have learnt issues can and will happen at times."   

Gaheris finally gets up from the canal's edge and stands again "I'd like a back up plan tha' ain't just kill it quick but I ain't got much. It's a plan, we could 'ave worse ones"   

Deniz thinks he has.....nothing as he shrugs.

Berwin says, "Plan B is always good..ya don't want it in the canal too long either unless ya can like...make the area it comes to smaller temparyly...not dealed with pike before..Bandits yeah...vermin....had to outrun be once but only the pike once and there was no plan them just get out of the water...some vermin tried ta still de log boat and...well de pike sort of took some anger on the vermin beast at the time too"
   
Vilfred sighs "I...do not know....we stay alert, be careful and hope plan works good...but other plan good too if come up with one....maybe have archers,,,slingers ready..I am not knowing good archer sadly"
   
Gaheris tilts his head "Tha' ain't a bad idea. Could board off a corner in case, gap small enough fer us t'get through...assumin' the pike is bigger than us" He doesn't seem too concerned about the vermin but he does frown "We go away fer the season an' the fish get uppity"   

Deniz hmmms "Maybe.....move the fish...I dont know we....could make area the pike goes in smaller and still have some fish for it just....still need to get out who ever quickly if the umm...bait is needed that is"   

Berwin says, "I am sure something will work out....hope so anyways. maybe have plan in case it like shows up before we are really even or have what need like really close."

Vilfred listens and smiles a little , maybe this will work as the plan is set and some ideas to help it is also forming.
   
Gaheris rubs the base of his whiskers as he's still thinking "I'd love t'move 'em Deniz but by the time we've dug tha' much it might 'ave killed someone else" He takes a deep breath "We can get some ah the small fish out in t'barrels or somethin', tip 'em back in when we're done" He glances back to Vilfred "Some welcome back fer yer Guosim eh?"   

Deniz says, "Barrels could work and just quick with the open/shut of gate"
   
Vilfred chuckles "Yeah....not de best but area is better than by de old church like it was and better than the area a camp was by de river yes but that camp has....yes been just too much to fix up so we moves and location os good"   

Berwin says, "There is also a couple wild honey bee hives to get honey from....we may wanna find a way to get those hives inta some better place come winter though...an issue or after de pike I say"

Gaheris shrugs to Deniz "We'll do wha' we can an' rebuild after. We can't bring back dead beasts though, if the worst we do is lose the fish it'll be better than leavin' a pike out there" He looks back to the shrews "This place burnt down, movin' might 'ave been easier but call me stubborn we rebuilt anyway. We ain't got bees though, never tried t'catch 'em before"
   
Deniz says, "Yeah...fish can be replaced it needed"   

Vilfred nods "Maybe could of...went back to old river camp...but decided on where we are now..shrews tend to wander...but thinking we stay put now...camp at church area...just...no bad area and no river, was a creek but not same and was too easily...ambushed"
   
Berwin says, "The area by church was ...Allea idea, was bad idea but she was Log-A-LOg at de time..."He frowns remembering what happen shortly after summmer started "Siides..river is lifeblood of the shrew, so is good to be at its side now"
   
Gaheris looks in the direction of the river. They're pretty well concealed in the camp, easy to miss the turn off from the river if you don't know it's there "'ard t'imagine shrews not livin' on the river. Made the place quiet without all the yellin' an' arguments"
   
Berwin looks at Log-A-Log "You work on plan...I will meet you back at camp and do NOT be late to dinner again"He heads back to camp, he knows the way its like a hour or maybe little under two walk, jogging makes it less time.   

Vilfred nods to Berwin and grins at the Skipper "Well...likely wont always be quiet now...soon we be on log boats again...and soon my friend!"   

Deniz chuckles , the shrews are neat"Maybe I can see the camp, I know I want to see the abbey..but yeah the pike issue...first"   

Gaheris snorts and smirks at the Log-a-log "I don't know whether tha's a good thing. Y'need 'elp y'let us know though. We'll 'ave the rivers busy with shrews an' otters again one day" he nods at Deniz "Y'll see it all mate, includin' pike death 'opefully"

Deniz nods as smiles, "I may go check on...Aqua..she is a good friend...see ya later Skipper"   

Vilfred chuckles"Well quiet is not always good either.."   

Gaheris nods to Deniz and then it's just the Skipper and Log-a-log left "Truth be told I'll take anythin' over the quiet" he watches the fish for a moment longer before shrugging a shoulder and starting to get moving "Righ', I'll dig out those nets and we'll get t'work on 'em. Leave y't'yer shrew wranglin'"   

Vilfred nods "We willl rid the river of this pike together."He just hopes with few injuries and zero deaths, the only death he wants to see in the aftermath is the Pike.The next few days will be busy thats for sure
