***Its a VERY LONG LOG...but read it still ****
WHO:
A lot.....It's a feast!! At Redwall!!
LOG:
Gorvenalus was sitting in a chair relaxing, he did have his journal but did not write in it yet.
Vilfred was here and..with his shrews but they are behaving themselves, which he is happy with"So..when does Feast start?"
Krisha has ventured down and looks at the chair, she has sat in it a couple times since...Oz died and sort of still feels odd to sit in, so she sort of just sat on a bench when in the room, mostly/She sighs, and replies "Soon...I believe"
Gorvenalus walks over "Are you ok Krisha, you seem down, today is about fun and fellowship with friends. music and good food"
Vilfred offers a smile"Yes and should be most enjoyable to all or....yes all I would be thinking"
Krisha nods "Yeah just...it's the first feast with out Oz and it just feels so..out of place is all. I don't know if I can handle greetings a lot of beasts and some don't know he died, some do but not those who only stop by every like couple seasons or more."
Gorvenalus smiles "You will do fine...Mother Krisha, not to worry and if they ask simply share news, comfort if needed."
Vilfred nods "Yes, good advise" He sighs as he has to go speak with his shrews or least a couple on manners.
Krisha nods slowly "Yeah just...don't want to make anyone sad, not today.I know they will ask or someone likely will and that news will make them sad..though hopefully the feast will be nice and cheer anyone up that needs it"
Gorvenalus nods, he smiles "As I said, your be fine and today will be a good day, your see"
Vilfred comes back after a short walk and nods for 8 other sherews to sit down, a couple are at the new camp site he has found for the group.
The Doors are open, summer sunlight spills through the dark clouds looming over head. It has been on and off for the past few days with threatening stormy summer rain. So the feast has been set up in the great hall.
Even so the door is open, the hall has been decorated and the tables and groaning under food and the crowd is somewhat restless as Benar is late. People have been shuffling back and forth from the kitchen to the tables pouring drinks and setting out last minute food. But still no sign of the Abbot, which is unlike him, he is usually the first in the great hall.
However just as things are on the verge of going ugly a familiar bell rings from the direction of the main door and Benar strides up the steps. He has the Abbot's staff in one hand, the bell on the end swinging back and forth as he approaches. He smiles at everyone and stops, planting the staff on the ground, gently nudging it to cause it to ring louder.
"Hello everyone, so sorry to keep you, I had to go let our friends in."
He bangs his staff on the ground, the bell rings but this time it is joined by a chorus of bells. Flutes, a drum... all rumbling with energetic rhythm. As the Abbot stands in the door four otter maidens stream past him, all dressed in long flowing silk trousers and bedecked with scarves. They whirl past the elderly grey squirrel and start to spin and dance and flow around the clear space by the door. They are swiftly joined by two squirrels and an otter in quilted trousers who start to flop and dance and weave around the dancers, juggling clubs that glitter and gleam in the beam of sunlight flowing through the breaking clouds.
Benar turns and bows to the figure walking up the steps playing the harp that has just added it's song to the musical accompaniment of the flutes and drum. It's a shrew, his long grey fur pleated into a riot of shaggy dreadlocks, dressed in a quilted patchwork coat and long flowing cloak
He pauses dramatically in the door as his troupe all pause and pose and he looks around the room and smiles, "My friends, the Abbot asked us to visit and it is my pleasure to bring my troupe to your doors once more!"
He swirls his cloak and beams, "I am Oswald and we are the Southern Winds and we thank you all for inviting us to this, the feast of The Summer of Partings," He bows to the Abbot who bows back, the music strikes back up with a raccous jangle and Benar raises his hands. "Let us eat and be merry and remember and play and feast and give thanks to the bounty and joy life brings."
Lacota bustles in from the kitchen, pushing a cart which holds a large carrot cake on which figures in marzipan cavort about like the troupe of dancers that just entered.
Vilfred enters, a little late but he had 8 shrews to chat with and tell how to behave while at the feast, he enters and they find a place to sit quickly.
Krisha has made sure the dibbuns are ready, and decided to send them down with Sister Ginny and she comes down a few moments later, slowly and stops at the bottom step, she mutters something to herself, she can do this as she walks in and stops by the BadgerMother's chair, she has used it a couple times usually sits on the bench in the room, still feels odd to sit in the chair , but she does sit down and looks over the guests and this Osward that has come in.
Esen is clearly new as she wanders inside but doesn't come all the way inside yet, she watches from a doorway leading off to the side. She hmmms softly, well it's noisy and active, that's for sure.
Gorvenalus smiles as he watches the show that looks ready to start and chuckles, he nods to the name, he is good at remembering so he can write it down in the log later.
DoraRose had been off duty, or else she'd have helped the Abbot let in their guests. Sighing, she watches from where she's sitting, smiling slightly. LilyMoore is on her feet nearby, and she starts clapping and hopping happily as the special guests enter, making their fun music. Butterclaw is beside her, and he starts chirping to the music, as happy as his friend. The 2 mice are wearing matching yellow dresses with leaves, vines, and flowers embroidered on them. Angela is absent, presumably on Infirmary duty, giving all the Order members and Novices the day off.
Isa has been sat with the dibbuns. Silent in the chatter as everyone's waiting she doesn't really know what's happening, all she knew was the dibbun keepers kept trying to stop them eating the food already. She sneaked a little when they weren't looking anyway. Her ears perk to the first bell ring and she quickly looks to the door as the abbot appears. She ducks down in her seat when suddenly there's a lot of beasts dancing all over the place, watching them as she's mostly hidden by the table.
Keldorn had been helping set things up for the feast and now arrives, well better late than never, and sits down with a smile "Sorry I am a little bit late"
The Abbot bows to Oswald and makes his way over to his chair. He passes Dora and Lily and smiles at them before pausing to hug Krisha then take up his seat next to her at the table. He pours himself a drink and leans back in his chair to watch the show, he's been planning this for awhile so it is nice to see everyone enjoying his surprise show.
Oswald bows to all then hops up onto a table then pauses and bows, "Log-a-Log... my honour to you and our brethren..." He then turns back to everyone and strums his harps, "My friends, please eat and drink and be merry, let not your wondrous Friar's food go to waste... for now we shall play music to accompany this feast. For every story revers a Redwall Seasonal Feast but later there shall be dancing and music, stories and wonders..."
He strums a chord, the flutes pipe an exotic shrill and then his troupe all break and bow before heading off to find themselves chairs. The feast is well and truly open and Benar is smiling happily as he sips his drink.
Vilfred nods as he grins, "Always good to be at the abbey, in fact I had wanted to update the good abbot Benar that my shrews are back in the area, in a new and think being better campsite."He gets some food and drink, as does his shrews.
Lacota pushes his cart with the elaborate cake and stops it right in front of Benar's seat, so every beast can see it clearly.
Krisha smiles at Benar and gets herself a drink and a little food, Sister Ginny and Brother Rick are helping the dibbuns for which she is glad of.A smile again as she sits back down by Benar"It still feels..odd to sit here, it's the first feast without Oz.I had to tell one guest whom is only here every 3 seasons of his death, they were sad and I did my best to comfort them.I...think I did well"
Esen hmmms, a shrug and she goes to find a seat on one of the benches in the room. A couple novices say hi and she nods, but has yet to speak, hey room full of strangers here, and the whole new to the area, "Certainly....lively during a ....feast."
Gorvenalus smiles, he sips some drink and listens to the music. He has yet to notice Esen as he chuckles at a vole juggling cups, lucky none break as they bow and sit down.
LilyMoore gets some food once the singing and dancing is over, and sits beside her mother. Butterclaw sits in his own chair on the other side of the Bellringer. DoraRose rubs her daughter's back, smiling slightly sadly, then gets some food of her own. Leaving the plate with her daughter (who will guard it from any crazy thieves!) and walks over to the Badger Mother. "Hey...you okay?")
Benar smiles and claps his hands, "My friends, Friar Lacota and his truly astounding cake... let's all give him a hand!"
He leads the applause and bows to the Friar, "Thank you, my dear friend, once again you have outdone yourself as always." The abbot then leans over to listen to Krisha and places a hand on her arm and nods.
"I know, it is hard holding this feast with him not here but he chose you to succeed him and he would not want any of us to be sad, not today. Oz always loved a feast, it was one of the few times I could get him to come down to dinner."
He raises his tankard, "So my friends, one and all, old and new and visiting from afar or locals a toast to Lacota, master chef of this feast and to the memory of our dearly departed Oz... to Summer!" He waits for the cheering from the toast to die down and settles down in his chair again to dig into the food and enjoy himself.
Isa watches the visitors closely but seems to relax when they sit down and then suddenly everyone's eating. Some of the dibbuns know which cues to watch out for with the feasts and have descended on the feast quickly, Isa misses it but as soon as she sees the dibbun sitters aren't stopping them anymore she quickly starts grabbing anything and everything and hoarding whatever she can't fit directly into her face.
Keldorn watches the show and chuckles a little, a fellow novice got him a plate of food and some drinks and he nods his thanks. He raises a tankard as well and nods.
Lacota bows to everyone. "Thank you, thank you!" No one could accuse the squirrel of being overly modest, after all.
Vilfred exclaims, "I am loving a good feast! Redwall food is always the best all around, no one is better!" His fellow shrews agree, wow they are agreements thats rare but good!" Yes to friends! To the great great food! Yes!""
Krisha smiles "Yes he would not want us to be sad"She chuckles at the fact, yeah sounds like Oz to rarely be down to dinner, she smiles and raises a glass"To Oz....and also thanks to Lacota on the good food and drinks for the Summer Feast"
Krisha leans back and nods to Dorarose "I..will be ok, don't worry just...different without Oz is all and there was one beast that was sad"She looks around, are they here..she hopes so as they can surely cheer up here.
Esen hmmmms as she sips some cordial and looks over at the Badgermother and Abbot and any other elders at the larger table and looks around at the gathered beasts chatting away with friends, another sip of her drink as she frowns a little, hmmms ok someone is not fully happy as she nibbles a little food.
Gorvenalus nods as he raises an ale mug and smiles, he then sees Esen and stands to walk over to her "Greetings, I am glad you have decided to come today, welcome"
The abbot enjoys the food and chatting quietly with some of the guests that come up to greet him.
DoraRose smiles. "Okay. I just remember the first feast after Leon died....it was hard. I just wanted to make sure you were okay." LilyMoore is usually on the lookout for sad or lonely people, and upon seeing Esen, she waves at her, then gets distracted when she has to smack a Dibbun's paw away from her mother's food. Butterclaw looks to where his friend has been waving, and waves at the badger, too.
Keldorn leans back and chats with a fellow novice, "This is nice yes and there is to be dancing afterwards....I will though be helping wash dishes"..The other novice nods, oh wait he is helping as well, oh well...someone has to help after all.
Vilfred grins, yes his shrews are well behaved, he is glad of this as he enjoys the feast and relaxes as some music plays.
Isa has more food in front of her than she could eat in a week but she's not sharing and she gives a dibbun that gets near her pile an angry little glare. She's not even eating it, she's stood on her chair, leaning over the pile of food, big fluffy tail raised behind her for balance as she eats from the table. That is until she spots Butterclaw. There's something about the little bird which just makes her stare at it, tail slowly swishing.
Krisha nods "Yeah, it was likely..harder on you, he was your mate Leon was.....I kind of remember him, a little. He was here when I first came and was a friend, even if it was just a short while"
Lacota stands beside Keldorn. "And I better not find you shirking your dish duty, either..."
Esen nods and finally speaks to someone "Oh...hey..yeah I came..suppose, I know really no one here, like at all but they seem friendly so far....though didn't give the best first impression to a beast in the woods."
Gorvenalus nods "Well, I think I heard about that from Patch and something about the rain storm, luckily it was a very brief storm and nothing was damaged and no one was hurt and today is sunny for the feast."
Butterclaw is oblivious to having the attention of a small cat, and is busy pecking at his seedcake. DoraRose nods, her smile fading slightly. "And some days I miss him more than others. I think that's okay. It's normal. And we'll both be okay. Right?" She's not looking for encouragement, but is trying to see how the Badger Mother is REALLY doing. LilyMoore has chased the Dibbun thief away from her mother's food, and is now eating hers, happy the newcomer badger has found someone to talk to.
Keldorn nods to the frir "I will not Friar Lacota, fear not."He sighs "I only wish my daughter had stayed but she needed to get back to Halyard, but we are to stay in touch with letters"
Vilfred is just enjoying food and chatting with beasts, he in fact goes to chat a little with the abbot some before heading back to his shrews.
Krisha nods "Yeah we will be ok, even if at times we think we are not ok, we have friends and still family to get us through it" She glances around speaking of family where is Xander, ok she can chat with him later, she does hope he comes down stairs soon, slight worry but then a smile, things are fine. She does catch the kitten standing on a chair and frowns, Sister Ginny gasos "Whoa...sit down little one your fall"
Isa stares for a few more seconds at the bird before she doesn't listen to Sister Ginny but not long after she's told to sit down she does sit but then soon after slowly edges off her seat and under the table. She quietly walks under the table until she's in about the right spot for the bird. She waits for a second until everyone looks distracted before she sneaks out, climbing on to the bench seat and just peaking the top of her head over the edge of the table to stare at the bird again. A little wiggle and then POUNCE! Fortunately she is young and inexperienced. If the little sparrow is fast she'll probably miss but even if she doesn't then luckily for Butterclaw she hasn't drawn her claws out.
Lacota hmmms. He makes his way to his own prepared seat, at the elder table. "Merciful heaven!" He spots that kitten pounce!
Esen blinks, ok music, some juggling, a pouncing kitten....wait what? A juggler is distracted and 3 apples fall to the ground, one on the vole's head as he frowns."O....k then"
Gorvenalus turns to look and tilts his head, "Oh..."Well hopefully all is ok as he is close enough to see it happen or maybe the cat missed?
Butterclaw had no idea what was coming, so he's very greatly surprised! Squawking with alarm, he spreads his wings and tries to fly away! LilyMoore leaps forward and goes to grab the kitten and hold her in her arms. "Hey! Hey, that's not very kind, honey! You could've hurt him. That's not the way to treat our friends!" DoraRose looks over at the chaos and covers her mouth with a paw, valiantly and successfully covering up her smile. It's not okay, as the Bellringer said, but it IS a little funny.
Lacota shakes his head and tuts. "Dibbuns these days... No control at all..."
Xander slips in, yep he is late and just quietly gets a plate, 2-3 squirrels and an otter with him , Mossflower Defenders. He quickly finds a chair, as does the beasts with him and yep he missed the brief excitement with sparrow and kitten.
Keldorn hmmms, a sip of drink as he smiles.Music and some more entertainment of juggling and one beast doing tricks with colored scarves.
Krisha didn't see Xander, yet anyways as too much was going on as she sighs, ok some dibbuns are wild it seems, but she does know Isa can be sneaky and usually one novice, or two, help keep an eye in the kitten.
Esen blinks , she shakes her head and does notice Xander and frowns, she just looks back to the feast and grows quiet.Again maybe she will just quietly slip off, take a snack with her perhaps
Isa is delighted when she catches the bird and grins as she holds him down so he can't fly off but it doesn't last long before she's grabbed and she yowls in surprise and starts twisting every which way to try and wriggle out of LilyMoore's arms and try to get the mouse to drop her.
Gorvenalus smiles "Seems it is under control now....I think
Benar looks over and then decides its being taken care of and smiles, a quick chat with the musical guests as some music to dance by starts up, a couple from the traveling circus starts to dance and others motion for others to join in if they want to dance. Some stories will be a little later
DoraRose coughs slightly. "That kitten looks like a pawful." LilyMoore shifts her grip as necessary, doing her utmost to keep hold of the kitten. "Oh, no you don't!" Butterclaw is perched on a rafter, his feathers pointing every which-way, and he's scolding the kitten rather ferociously in the Sparra language. As the dance music starts up, the Bellringer glances towards the dance floor, then whirls out onto it, doing her best to keep the kitten in her arms as the mouse twirls around the dance floor, effortlessly keeping in time with the music.
Keldorn waves at Xander "Hello my friend, all is well I hope?"
Lacota will most certainly *not* be dancing. He hasn't danced even once since his wife died.
Xander nods "I..guess"He sighs and lays a paw on the eye patch he has and snorts. He glances at Krisha and sighs, a small sip of corial, he gets a roll, not that he got much food just a bowl of soup, that he ate, and the roll.He walks up to stand by Krisha "Hi..sorry I am...late, nothing happen just walked slow is all"
Krisha looks up as Xander comes into view and listens to him, a long drink of cordial as she seems to think on her words, a few n=bites of her food...seems like forever and she finally speaks "Your forgiven...there is a way to make it up to me though"
Esen moves a few veggies around on her plate and quietly starts to slip towards the doorway that leads outside.
Isa makes another note of surprise when she's suddenly twirled around and then there's dancing beasts everywhere and music and she's right in the middle of it all. Her struggle to get away suddenly changes direction and she squirms to burrow in to Lily's arms and hide there, just peeking out over Lily's arm though the kitten recoils back down for safety every time anyone gets close.
Gorvenalus just watches anyone dancing, he is not interested in dancing either but he is glad others are enjoying the evening.
Lacota taps a footpaw in time to the music as he listens.
DoraRose smiles at Xander. "Oh, hey there." Glancing between him and his wife, she slips away and nearly bumps into Esen. "Oh, hello there. Sorry for not speaking to you sooner. I'm DoraRose Strongheart, Gatekeeper." She smiles and holds out a paw to shake. LilyMoore smiles and hugs the little cat closer, continuing to dance, her feet easily keeping time with the music. Butterclaw lands on his chair and starts preening his feathers, still grumbling in the kitten's direction in the Sparra language.
Xander nods, he hmmms?" Ummm...like wot?" He likely should get something else to eat, but his focus is making sure Krisha is ok first.
Krisha fishes some pie and stands "Dance with me"She goes to lead Xander to the dance floor.
Esen backs up "Its....ok, s...sorry just not sure if staying much longer, it's nice and all..certainly lively bunch of beasts and friendly. I wouldnt of come but a couple beasts in the woods..invited me, and this after I umm...well lets just say not the best first impression but I was half asleep and thought they were...a robber beast"
Lacota reminds himself to greet DoraRose before the night ends.
Isa keeps watching from her hiding spot in Lily's arms and it's several minutes before she seems to accept nothing bad is happening and relaxes slightly. The sparrow's curses she pays no attention to and would gladly pounce him again were she given the chance. After a few more minutes she finally looks up at Lily, turning that stare on to her now.
DoraRose shrugs. "Well, that's okay. The amount of creatures at feasts isn't necessarily for every beast. I'm glad you came, though." She smiles easily. "And it's easy to overreact when one is half asleep. I've done that numerous times. I nearly punched my husband in the face a few times. I guess it's part of being a Warrior." LilyMoore smiles down at the kitten, managing to not trip or run into anyone as they continue to dance. "Yeah, it's not so bad once you get used to it. I'm Lily, by the way." She's not perturbed at all by the cat's stare. She's friends with Blisa, the borderline insane cat Chieftain of Ferravale. She can handle an intense stare from a feline Dibbun. Butterclaw has finally calmed down to the point where he can finish his meal.
Xander smiles as he goes to dance with Krisha, it has been a while since he danced and he will enjoy dancing.
Krisha smiles and lays her head on Xander's shoulder letting him lead the dance after a little while. She is just gonna enjoy the dance and the music as it plays.
Esen nods "Interesting...I almost stabbed a beast...I didn't just almost, I stopped when I saw they were not a threat, it's just a little lonely to travel and..."She frowns as a memory hits her, "Just last time a beast came into a camp I and my...father was in..."She just shakes her head, it clearly didn't end well and she excuses herself as she heads to the doorway, she will slip back inside a short time later, away from all the dancing and get some food to take with her, yeah good food for the road. Then she is quietly leaving.
Gorvenalus smiles, he gets out his journal and write some things down and watches the others as he chuckles. Well most are having a great time at the feast, seems one of the best Summer ones in a while.
Lacota gets up from his chair, making his way toward DoraRose. "You seem to be enjoying the feast..."
Isa has yet to say a thing to anyone at the abbey, the healers found nothing wrong, she just won't talk and tries to run away and hide from the dibbun keepers on a daily basis. It's with her usual silence that she keeps staring at Lily before finally she reaches out a paw and goes to put it on the mouse's nose. The staring continues like she's just waiting to test what Lily will do.
DoraRose watches the guest leave and sighs. She understands having hard memories to work through. Sitting down, she (FINALLY) starts eating her food when the Friar comes over to her. "Oh, hey. Yeah....it's always fun to see all my friends, and meet new beasts. I just.....I guess we never stop missing our mates when they die..." LilyMoore widens her eyes, smiling as she brings her nose down to try and touch the kitten's nose with it! Butterclaw continues to eat, content that his mouse friends will protect him from crazy cats.
Xander smiles, today is a good day, he is happy and happy is good as he dances and enjoys the night. He can get something else to eat a little later, dancing right now is better....food will be there later so it can wait.
Krisha smiles, happy as well and relaxed..."Dancing is nice, we need to dance more often."
Patch slips in, late but hey there is still food as he happy;y gets some of it and enjoys it very very much along with s nice October Ale.
Lacota nods his head slowly. "Aye. The memory is always close to one's heart, I should think..." He goes silent for a few moments, remembering Krystal. "Ah, but... Life goes on." He turns to watch LilyMoore and the cat. "Your daughter is growing up to be a fine lass. You ought to be a proud Mother."
Isa goes a little cross eyed as she watches the mouse's nose approaching hers and then the kitten suddenly giggles when they touch and she quickly hides her own nose under one of her paws and goes to playfully bat at Lily's whiskers with the other paw.
Gorvenalus yawns, he is tried but smiles as some beasts come to talk to him, he can stay up a little longer after all.
Xander says, "Dance more often would be nice, not sure when" He will dance as long as she wants to dance, then he can sit down and get some more good food."
DoraRose smiles. "Oh, I am. She's amazing. I love her too much." Quickly finishing her food, she stands and holds a paw out to the squirrel. "I know the pain of not having our mates here anymore. But would you dance with me to honour both Leon and Krystal's memories? I believe they wouldn't want us to stay sad and not celebrate their lives, and what was." LilyMoore crosses her eyes, then straightens them out and purses her lips so her whiskers tickle at the kitten's cheeks. She's still dancing around, but much more slowly now that she's successfully drawing the cat out of her shell.
Lacota offers one of his rare *genuine* smiles, the ones he only offers to his dearest friends. "Why, I would be only too happy to," he replies, taking DoraRose's paw in his own, then guiding her toward the other dancers.
Isa giggles again and hides her head under her arms at the tickling attack. She returns with more batting though she stops for a second to blow at the whiskers and make them move before she tries to catch them. She's being surprisingly gentle about it though.
Krisha looks over at the dibbuns and some that are dancing also and chuckles as she smiles and just enjoys some time with Xander, but she will sit back down to have some dessert
Gorvenalus watches the beasts as he finishes what he needs to write down in the logs and then puts away the ink and a quill pen , then his journal."This feast has been very good indeed"
DoraRose smiles and follows the Friar's lead. LilyMoore slowly shifts the kitten in her arms and goes to gently touch the cat on the ear! She giggles, too, unable to resist the joy the Dibbun is expressing!
Lacota is actually better at dancing than he will *ever* let anybeast know openly. Perhaps something from his pre-Redwall life. "Do you happen to know the Southsward Three-Step?"
Gorvenalus watches as Lacota and Dora start to dance and smiles, he gets some cake and eats it slowly, it for sure has been a very good day and now evening.
Isa's ear flicks when it's touched but the kitten goes to rest her head against the paw in response and just purrs, closing her eyes. It lasts a few long seconds before Isa opens her eyes again and it's like something broke when she looks at Lily again as she suddenly looks sad before she looks down and starts to curl up and hug on to her tail still comfortably in the mouse's arms "I want mom" she quietly says as she starts staring at the world again.
DoraRose grins. "Nope, but I figure I can pick it up pretty quickly. Lead the way!" She'll follow his lead, absolutely! And she's a very good dancer, herself. Helps her be a good Warrior, all that fancy footwork. And she does pick up new steps pretty quickly, too. LilyMoore smiles as the kitten purrs, then her smile softens sadly as the little kitty talks. The mouse doesn't know that the cat hasn't been talking, but she can tell that she's sad. "I know," she whispers, hugging the Dibbun close and slowly dancing, hoping her movement is soothing. "I want my dad. I miss him every day. But he went to the Dark Forest a while ago, and while I'm sad that I can't talk to him right now, I know I'll see him again someday. I don't know where your momma is, but I believe that even if you can't ever talk to her again, you'll still be able to see her again, someday, just like I'll see my dad."
Lacota picks up the pace, in that case! "Ah, it was all the rage many seasons ago," he says, "I wouldn't doubt Benar knows it... He came from Southsward, I believe..."
Isa is sad but comfortable to just stay there and sway until dads get mentioned and things take a turn for the worse. She recoils, trying to hide in Lily's arms again "I don't want da'" she looks scared and like she might cry as her fur raises and she gets extra fluffy "Mom says y'have to be quiet an' hide when da' gets mad" she starts getting really quiet and very still as she just sort of shuts down and the fear changes to a blank expression as she stares at the ground "Da's always mad"
Gorvenalus smiles as he gets up "Benar is from Southsward, in fact a beast i spoke to ealier was gonna live in that area with family."
DoraRose follows, mistepping a little, but picking the dance up pretty quickly, nonetheless. "Oh, unodubtedly. I know a few reels from Tuscani, although I'm probably a little rusty. Maybe I can get Benar to dance later...." LilyMoore frowns. Oops. "Well, if your dad shows up, I'll make sure he stays away from you. I'll do everything I can to keep you safe, and so will /my/ mom. I promise."
Lacota perks his ears toward Gorvenalus. "Ah, see, I was right. I spent time in Southsward when I was *much* younger..." Several other abbeybeasts, seeing Friar and Gatekeeper dancing, they begin to mimic the footwork.
Isa just seems to be mentally gone. She doesn't respond this time and she's staring but it's blank and unfocused. Some sort of coping mechanism maybe. She just quietly stays curled up there. Eventually, if the gentle dancing continues, she might just fall asleep there.
Ewan sighs, late to a feast...oh well good food is still here and he gets a large plate and a tall October Ale and sits down watching the dancing, maybe he will join on dancing...maybe, after he eats.
DoraRose notes the other couples dancing around them, like any good Warrior, aware of her surroundings, but she ignores them, knowing it's not too important. "I've never been to Southsward. What's it like?" LilyMoore frowns and holds the kitten close, continuing her gentle dancing. She plans to keep her promise, even if the kitten didn't register it. And she'll tell her mother later, too.
Isa doesn't completely snap out of it but eventually her head and eyes start to droop and she rests her head on Lily's arm. There's a little yawn and a tiny, very quiet sigh as she relaxes in to sleep.
Gorvenalus nods as he smiles again, things are slowing down now as beasts get treid, though some will stay up a little later to tell stores or share news, some stories will just wait till breakfast.
DoraRose continues to dance with the Friar for a while, and eventually everyone drifts off to bed, and she does one last check of all the gates to make sure everything is secure. LilyMoore holds the cat until she's asleep, then passes her off to one of the Dibbun caretakers. Meeting her mother in the Gatehouse loft, she tells her mother about what Isa said, and the Gatekeepers makes sure to keep a watch out for the little cat's parents. But first, bedtime.....
Ewan is just up late, it's fine...he will likely regret it in the morning.
Gorvenalus takes time to write down in the logs the events of the feast and some of other events and then smiles. he heads to bed and has a fairly good rest full sleep.
