**Gorvenalus doesn't show up till later but I got the ealier part of the log to help show what happen and to help someone be able to have a log of events....the Recorder/Healer beaver Gorvenalus was sent out to look for Xander cause..well he was a little missing it seemed tongue  ***

Who:

Gorvenalus-Abbey Recorder and Brother at Redwall, Healer

Xander-Leader of Mossflower Defenders

Bandit-Baker

Antenora- an owl and Possible new friend

spoofed lizards(7-8)

couple spoofed Ferrets that work for Bandit

LOG:

This Happen on the road and woods area North of the Abbey, near the Black Gull Area....

Xander left the abbey and went walking, walking up the road and muttering, it was a surprise he even remembered his blade as grumpy and moody as he was. It was still light out but a bit late in the day, the weather was cooling a little but still a little hot at times. few clouds in the sky, some maybe rain later tonight.

"How do I keep getting myself into these situations..." The fox sighs deeply as the bandits finish tying his paws behind his back. The ferrets that pull the bakers wagon are tied up in a similar fashion, tossed like bags of potatoes in with the rest of the loot.

"For a baker, I was surprised to find so little food in your wagon." Bandit never caught how many lizards there were, enough to overwhelm the baker fox and his workers for sure. They are dressed in animal skin vests and bits of armor, and carry spears and pikes as weapons. "I guessss we know where it all went." The leader of the bandits chuckles, prodding the fox's belly with the butt end of his spear.

"Ok, one, that's really rude. Just assuming that the fat beast ate all his own pastries.
Even though it's true, still rude. Two ... WHO ROBS A BAKER? WHY? What makes you think we have any thing of value?" "What makes you think we value only gold?"
The lizard grins.

"What the blazes else is there to 'value' here? My wagon is breaking down all the time, my workers only ever complain, and I... oh." Bandit pauses, "Oh, you mean you are going to eat us..." The fox's shoulders slump, "Why does this keep happening to meeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

Xander was still..somewhat alert as he walks up the road and slows as he hears a familiar whine and blinks, he quickens his pace and gets behind a tree and peers towards the baker and the cart, and the , he sighs , "Great.."He mutters, lizards, well least its' normal lizards right.

The badger isn't the only one with eyes on the road... there's a very opportunistic set up in the sky, scoping out the lizards that are busy tying up the baker and company... and indeed. It's not the big, inedible monitors, but...rather something a bit more the owl's size by chance. Or, so it seems. She takes quick stock to just get a feel for how many, talons flexing lightly as she silently starts to circle overhead. Hmm. Right... outlines... She ignores the fox and ferrets for the time being, as well as those clustered immediately around him, and turns her attention to the lizards more on the perimeter of the whole situation to see if any are just a bit more separate from the main group.

"You are not as dumb as you look... Thrask," The leader of the group gestures to a larger, fatter lizard. "Get a fire ready. We will roast the fox with his own pots and pans!"

Bandit looks just thrilled at the irony. His workers are much more terrified, "Why are you taking this so calmly? They are going to cook and eat us!" One of the ferrets blurts out.

The fox only sighs, "Eh, I It's not the first time. First it was the eel, then the snake... then the eagle AND the snake... and the crazy hide stealing badger... it's like the universe just keeps trying to get me shoved into a stew pot."

The fox casts a quick glance about the area. There are eight lizards in total with a paw full watching the road for those would interrupt their feast. "Sorry boys, but I think our number is up. I used up more lives than a cat and I don't have miricals left in my bag of tricks to save us."

"You are the worst boss! The worst!" another ferret shouts.

Xander tilts hits head and sighs, then a lizard gets to close to him, likely hunting fire wood and the badger snarls, the lizard gasp, then the lizard gets beheaded, the lizard's head is throw towards the other lizard's! Yeah that felt oddly good as he snorts, ok got some anger out and likely needs to be careful now as they know that...well someone is clearly here!

Antenora blinks... The larger lizard certainly looks tasty...but a bit on the larger side for her... but there's also some noise happening not too far off. Looks like there's a badger going to town on a few of the scaled folk... So, she uses that distraction. With hardly a noise, she inverts into a dive, wings folding in to pick up speed until she's at the right angle of attack and extends her talons. Not...really to go after the big bloated one, but the lizard right beside ...Thrask was it? Either which way, target acquired.

Wings snap open to slow her descent and level out as she brings her claws forward to take a quick, fly-by grab at her chosen target, beating to keep speed on her side as well as to regain altitude. Lucky fox... Probably. Not so lucky lizard.

The lizards scream as one of there own has his head thrown at them. They scream again as the owl swoops in to carry off poor Feskoo. The smaller reptile barely has time to know what is going on before the birds talons dig into him.

"A-ambush! Ambush! Fight back you foolsss!" The lizard bandit leader points his spear at the badger. A trio of reptiles rush the stripe dog with spears and a sword.

The other two stand back to back, terrified of the deadly bird that dissapeared into the sky! The baker... just stands there, eyes wide. "Well alright then!" He begins to try and break free of his bonds, only to stop. He wasn't a fighter, not anymore. The fat bellied fox takes a step away from the lizards instead, deciding it was ok to be saved for once like the hapless civilian he is! "Have at them! Free buttered buns for all of ye if I survive!"

Xander is already in a bad mood as he narrows his eyes and snarls at the lizards, oh they dare charge him, well he sidesteps one, slices at another lizard, and makes a note as to where the lizards are at as he snorts. His left paw is bandaged right now but he decides to still fight.

Antenora banks slowly and looks at her kill before looking back at the others below... almost in thought, really. There's the notion that...yes, she has her meal already, what good are the others? But, then again...

She sighs inwardly and makes another check. Bows? Arrows? Anything dangerous to her other than spears and swords? ...hmm. Right. She flies overhead and just...drops Feskoo, letting him fall towards the two that are standing back before wings fold in and she spins into another dive, this time less to hunt and more to strike, intent on pinning the two hesitating ones to the ground under either foot.

The badger's blade splits the belly of one lizard open, his death rattle only spuring the other two onward. They come at the badger, one with a spear, the other with a blade, from either side of Xander, trying to impale him!

The cowardly lizards near the wagon scream as the body of their comrade is dropped upon them. And then the owl is upon them.

They have no chance to react other than to belt out terrified screams as the fat bellied Thrask and his skinnier companion are both pinned under the bird.

"Feathered fiend! Leave my beastsss alone!" The lizard leader leaps into action, spear in both paws to thrust into the owls back.

"Whoops!" The fox's foot suddenly appears in the reptiles path, causing him to stumble towards the owl! It seems there is still a little bit of fighter left in the baker after all...

Xander frowns as he thinks quickly and then at the last moment he jumps back, hopefully two lizards will kill each other! The other lizard gets a quick slash from his blade!

Antenora jumps back to get away from the two of her latest kills and almost winds up lanced by the last of the lizards nearby her, feeling the telltale bite of something catching just behind her shoulder. She's about to fly away from the spear, because those tend to be generally bad for one's health, and gets her wings moving to take flight realizing the chef's gone and tripped the lizard up. Well, who is she to decline such a generous gift...

Wings beat once again, this time to send her forward. Lacking speed from a proper dive to strike, it's more...hurling a lightweight body with talons and beak first to just rip, rend, and shred before that spear can cause any further harm.

"Bon'appite ma'am." Cackles the fox as the lizard stumbles towards her claws.

"No... NoOOOOOoOOOOOOOOOO!" the reptile manages to shout before the talons cut through his hide, through his chest, belly, limbs... it's... it's not a pretty site.

The reptiles facing the badger do not fare as well either. The badger leaps to one side, and the one with the spear runs his buddy through the heart. The spear wielder has a look of total shock even as the badgers blade separates his head from his body. The lizards lay dead before them, save one. Thrask, having a bit more hide to protect his vitals than his unfortunate comrade, begins to crawl away from the reptile massacar, one paw clutching the wound to his stomach. His terrified whimpers give him away though.

"Well then... that was... uh..." the fox glances at the lizard leader as he is ripped, rended, and shredded, "You... you are here to save us... right?"

Xander walks over to Bandit and studies him, "Bandit?" The owl can maybe take the leader as he seems to debate on untieing Bandit, he looks to the two ferrets that work with Bandit and scans the area for anyone else, friend or foe.

Antenora slumps slightly, the wing on the side of her injured shoulder hanging lax slightly as she straightens up and hops her way over. No, poor Thrask... She was intent on a filling meal and he's the biggest one of the lot. She pounces, aiming to strike at the back of his neck with her beak before looking towards the badger, then the fox...then the two ferrets... and then pivots her head back to get a look at her own injury. "You can save the rolls... I think there's plenty here for me already." She chuffs, glancing left, then right, more to allow her ears a chance to listen for any other potential survivors.

"No! Wait!" Thrask manages to squeak before the killing blow ends him. His tail thrashes once, and he becomes still.

"Um... sure." The fox chuckles nervously, stepping backward to keep the badger between him and the owl.

"Xander! Are you a sight for sore eyes..." He glances over the badger covered in lizard guts briefly, "You seem well. Mind untying me?"

"Um, boss?" squeaks a ferret.

"And my workers. Fat lot of use they were..."

Xander snorts but unties the fox, he keeps his eyes and ears open and looks at the owl, ok good the owl can eat some lizards, thats fine as he looks to Bandit and frowns "I am...least your alive..Hawkeye isn't alive and...and"He steps back and lets the tears fall now, he frowns "Uncle Oz is..is dead, he..died in his sleep, he's..he's gone"

Antenora is, for the moment, content to just sort of pick a bit. There's certainly enough to chose from, and the others seem content to just...talk. Or...cry? She looks up and regards Xander for a few moments. ..but nothing is said. She leaves them to mourn and instead takes stock of her wing and the injury sustained, just slowly testing range of motion.

The fox figits an ear. His eyes widen a bit but then retain a certain calmness. He looks to the owl, the dead lizards and then the badger. With a sigh, he places a paw on the warriors shoulder, "Come. Let's clean up this mess first. I have fresh water in my wagon, and a new shirt that isn't covered with lizard entrails. We will set up camp, then you can tell me all about Oz..."

==A few Hours Later==

Xander sits at the campsite, things were cleaned up and he is just sort of stareing at the small campfire that was made, just quiet like.

Antenora isn't...too far away, having opted against flying while injured. At least for the time being. Besides, she had a meal to enjoy...which she graciously enjoyed out of sight of the badger, fox, and ferrets. But, that's done and gone. She ventures towards the camp itself, the little owl just keeping on the fringes of the firelight itself as she continues to nurse her own wound as best she can manage.

Xander looks over as he sees movement, it's just the owl as he speaks."Hey.."He says softly, it's dark and he is likely gonna be grumbled at, it's fine not like he knew he run into..well trouble, and help get dead lizards off a road and a cart into a clearing, it did rain a little and that seemed to help some.

Gorvenalus was outside, his hooded cloak on looking around, he was being careful in the dark and had a small oil lamp as he walked along, he sighed as if what ever he was looking for was not being found.

Antenora narrows her eyes faintly but still keeps her distance, about to say something to the badger when she hears the approach of something else. Her head immediately swivels around to look at Gorvenalus, watching the motion carefully and tensing ever so slightly in anticipation of more trouble.

Xander lays a paw on his blade and stands "Who is there?" He is still a little moody as he seems to look at the cloak, and looks at the owl making sure she stays put "You need to be careful...your hurt"

Gorvenalus backs up and speaks "Xander...calm yourself, it is only I.."He takes off the hood and frowns "Some were worried when you left and Patch mentioned you were not at the tavern...are you injuried?" He looks towards the owl and nods "I am Brother Gorvenalus, I mean you no harm I am abbey Recorder and I am also a healer"

Antenora turns to glower at Xander for a moment as he chides her to be careful. "Hmph..." There's an annoyed click of the beak and she looks back at Gorvenalus. Her injury isn't easily seen unless looking at her back, and then there's dried blood near her left shoulder. "Antenora," she offers, the first thing really said to anyone. "Silly lizard had a spear..."

Xander goes to hug the beaver and smiles a little, he speaks "Her wing is hurt...not sure how close you can, get to her though" He frowns "I am fine...don't worry"

Antenora just chuffs softly again at mention of not getting close and looks at the badger critically, lifting one set of talons...before giving a dismissive gesture. "I'm full. You're safe... Besides, you're too big for me anyway."

Xander frowns, he sighs he looks tried and just...yeah he needs some sleep.

Gorvenalus frowns, he speaks with Xander a few moments "Get some sleep."He then looks at the owl. "Do you have a way to get your wing better then?" He makes sure Xander is resting and now can tend to the owl.

Antenora swivels her head to get a look at the wing...and then just looks back at Gorvenalus. "Time... it works best. What else would I do?" She stretches her wing again and winces faintly. "I'll borrow a burrow or something until I can fly."

Gorvenalus says, "It could get infected though and swollen, one don't want that, not moving it will help though, I am unsure where you can stay though" He hmmms, he is smart as he is not an owl is welcome in the Abbey..maybe Ferravale but he is unsure"Maybe..grasslands?"

Antenora sighs. "If there is an infection, I can...just open it again." She chuffs, shoulders slumping a bit at the prospect of just being off the wing for too long. "I'll figure it out..."

Gorvenalus nods and decides to not question her further then, he would leave but he had promised to make sure Xander got back ok, they were not too far from the abbey anyways, so he could wait till morning he decides.

Antenora sighs softly, sort of settling herself down. "You...know how to treat things, right?" She tilts her head slightly to the side. "Why not offer to take a look at it yourself, if that's the case?"

Gorvenalus nods "Yes, I was a healer at an abbey called Willowbark, I was also their abbot...at Redwall I am just a Brother, Their recorder but I also help with healing."He will look at it, carefully as the owl does have a beck and talons.

Antenora is also not a big owl, and...actually, that the beaver's intimidated by her is flattering in a way. She settles herself down and lowers her shoulder all the same so that the abbey-beast can get a proper look at where that spear caught her. Right under the shoulder of her left wing, it seems. Not...terribly deep, but enough that, indeed, it's probably painful to use that wing right now.

Gorvenalus is more careful than fearful, it pays to be careful. He exams it and nods, getting out an herb or two that will help with healing and pain, as well as prevent infection to place on the wound. He hmms on a good way to bandage it"You will need a place to stay though"

Antenora grumbles a bit, wincing at the work being done, though her head does swivel around so she can look Gorvenalus in the face directly. "What's wrong with the Abbey? I've heard rumors it has a wonderful loft."

Gorvenalus says, "It's possible, long as the sparrows are ok with it...how would you get up there though?"If her wing is painful after all."I can also let the abbot know your there"

Antenora sighs and sags again. Right...flying. "Well, I can...find somewhere, I suppose.... Nothing wrong with a bit of a walk..." She ever so slowly extends the wing out again and...winces. "Maybe a short glide..."

Gorvenalus thinks, where could she stay, he is unsure right now."If you did stay somewhere in the abbey, you have to not try and eat anyone there...someone can bring you fish and water, maybe some rolls even"

Antenora clicks her beak lightly, relaxing and letting her injured wing just rest by hanging lightly at her side. "I'll have you know...the lizard was an exception, not the norm. I...usually go for bugs and the sorts. Not sure if you've noticed, but...I'm not like the bigger owls out there."

Gorvenalus nods and offers a smile"Well...there are the flying bugs around..for sure at night" He hmms, its possible to get her worms or bugs if needed."There may be ..somewhere in the abbey, maybe the infirm even. Your wing will take a few days to heal."

Antenora she looks her wing over... "Fine...that'll work. Better, maybe, than a hole in the ground." She nods slightly and gives a soft chuff. "Better indeed..."

Gorvenalus nods "Then we can go there..."He sighs but they may need to wait or he can wake Xander, he hmmms one can see the abbey wall tops from here as he decides"I can wake my friend and we can head there."And why not just invite Bandit and his 2 ferret friends too, yeah getting to the abbey was a good idea...and a thunder storm prooves it was a good move as well!!
