==Shortly after the TITLE of Badger Mother becomes Official......===
Krisha says, "Rain is not always bad, it can just be annoying at times. It does help water the plants still, though it does sometimes make one sad, other times its relaxing"
Benar sighs and lifts his legs and curls back up in his armchair, "I always love listening to the rain, but Krisha being Badger Mother is more then just caring for dibbuns, it is being a guide, a voice of wisdom to the Abbot, to the order to anyone who needs help." He smiles sadly, "I know you are still young but beasts will turn to you, I will need you at my side to help run the abbey."
Krisha nods "I..understand and I will always be at your side when I am needed, and I am willing to help anyone in need of it. Oz explained some things to me, even that on rare times, if needed, the badger mother helps with abbey defenses if ever a siege if say the champion is needing it, but that it lucky doesn't happen very often. I also know healing, and even forge skills if they are ever needed and if it came to it...ever...I can fight to protect others"
Gorvenalus manages a small smile, listening to them talk and to the rain as well.
Madison is not known for her... subtlety. Or her impeccable timing. Thus, it's at this moment that a muffled crash is heard, followed by some similarly muffled shouting, all emanating from the kitchens. In hobbles Madison, with an armful of assorted foodstuffs. Calling back over her shoulder, "Well you can *get* one for all I care, you'll... see..." she trails off as she spies the more senior creatures in the hall. Oh dear.
Benar says, "Well someone who can work our forge is more then welcome Krisha, I make pottery and knit, it is good no... important and required you have a hobby, something outside the line of your normal duties so you do not go stir..." He turns his head and stares at the squirrel making such an exit from the kitchen, "Miss... would you care to explain yourself?"
Krisha looks towards the kitchen and blinks, stareing at Madison. She will stay by Benar and keeps an eye on Madison.
Gorvenalus sighs, lets relax and ...nope as his eyes open from relaxing and look to.."What is....going on?" He frowns and looks to Madison as well.
Madison is caught between a rock and a hard place here. After all, she's *Madison*. She raises Hell. That's just what she does. But at the same time, ah, she actually has a shred of respect for the senior roles in the Abbey. Not that she'd admit it. "Well. Tell *him*." She motions with a thumb over her shoulder. "I've been allowed back in the kitchen for *weeks*. It's his problem."
Benar glances at Krisha and Gorve then leans forward, "Perhaps the problem Miss Madison is that your arms appear to be full of food, food no doubt destined for dinner this evening?" He shakes his head, "You may be allowed in the kitchens but taking food outside of actual meal times without a reason is not allowed," He glances up at Krisha, "Perhaps Krisha you'd like to take Madison here under your wing? It looks to me like we have a young squirrel here with too much free time on her hands."
Krisha looks at Madison, "First, you should put the food you have back please" She smiles a little "We might be able to find some chores she can do, I am sure there is something outside the kitchens"And she rather not have this squirrel maid near the dibbuns, "Maybe washing sheets, towels, robes perhaps"
Gorvenalus smiles letting Krisha and Benar handle this."Dusting, moping...lots to do"
Madison is hardly a child, but her behavior... well... is reminiscent. "Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa." She balances the food in the crook of one arm so her cane might steady her frame. "I am not to blame here. I've been sticking to my schedule. No ale, no wine, none of my special tinctures. I'm doing well. But I need to put *something* in here." she slaps her belly with the cane-wielding paw. "I crave."
Benar shakes his head, "Whether you crave something to eat or not Miss Madison, you have still stolen food that wasn't for you, did you ask? Or did you just take? If you'd asked I hardly think there would be such a kerfuffle would there now my dear?" He nods at Krisha, "The Badger Mother and you should have a chat about your cravings and about your behavior."
Gorvenalus nods"I am sure they can..be controlled somehow"
Madison would argue! Normally. But the way her mentioned issue is actually addressed leaves her looking a little... taken aback. "Oh great, so now I'm fat, apparently." she sulks. "I need a drink."
Krisha frowns and then speaks calmly"No one said that..."Ok she can handle this "But we share here at the abbey and one can't eat wot ever they want all the time and it goes for drinks as well. As the Abbot said you can ask if your hungry and we can see what we can do, but your need to put the food you have back, and a novice can help you with that"She will even call a novice over to help with putting the food back.
Benar sighs and shakes his head, and smiles at Madison, "No one is calling you fat my dear, but cravings or not you cannot just take, but I will leave this to Mother Krisha, I am sure the two of you can have a good talk about this."
Madison wants to just drop the food on the ground and storm off. If it where any other creature in the hall with her, she might. Instead, she silently dumps it all on the nearest table, before stumping her way over to a chair and slumping into it with more than an air of petulance.
Gorvenalus just..well stays where he is, but he does motion the novice to go ahead and take that back to the kitchens.
Krisha watches Madison and walks over to offer he a kind smile "So...did you want to talk, maybe your having a bad day and we all sometimes have a bad day and we..talk or try to anyways. Also maybe a small...snack, did you maybe miss breakfast or lunch? And who was it that said you could go to the kitchens anyways?" She is curious after all.
Benar leaves this to Krisha, he smiles and watches her for a bit before picking up his knitting and resuming it, this is the sort of thing the Badger Mother is best placed for. He's Father, but she is Mother and well it'll be interesting to see the dynamic develop as Krisha settles into the role. Sighing quietly, thinking of Oz and how he used to do all this Benar resumes his knitting, needles clicking as he works.
Xander groans as he walks into the room, he has a major headache right now and it's his own fault. He studies who is in the room and sort of half waves "Beasts back....and...."He frowns , ok he is sitting....on the steps, he has a headache and he hates it, he will just sit off to the side for now.
Madison remains petulant. She enjoys it. She just shrugs like a child, and uses her cane to stoke the fire a little.
Gorvenalus nods a hello to Xander and then frowns and seems to debate on going over to him.
Krisha hmmms "Ok you don't have to talk but if you did miss a meal, be on time next time, now a chore....washing is good...dishes maybe or maybe sheets and blankets..."She studies Xander and sighs, she just snorts and tends to the squirrel maid
Benar keeps working on his knitting, he is trying to not to rush over to everything but using his tail he waves it to get Gorve's attention and then points at the other badger.
Xander frowns "Mixing tea...and ale...together is bad, its so bad, my head feels like it wants to fall off"
Madison simply cracks her knuckles and sighs. "I'll get it done." It's as close to compliance as she's likely to get.
Gorvenalus nods and walks over to Xander and sighs, "Ok lets help you to.."Hmms where is good, he likely rather not be in the infirm, "Somewhere quiet..the library is good and so is some nice herbal tea for something like this. " He will help him up, find some pillows also.
Krisha frowns at Xander and nods to Madison "Ok..good and we can have an order beast or novice keep an eye on you, make sure you don't take without asking again"A novice whom will achally keep an eye on the squirrel.
Benar looks up, "I am sure we don't need to keep Miss Madison under surveillance now Krisha," He looks at the squirrel with the cane, his dark eyes staring into hers, "We can trust her to not do this again I am sure, if you want something to eat outside of meal times, try asking first rather then taking, that's all we ask."
Xander will allow help up and frowns "Tea is evil....well that tea was....Uncle Zee drank ale spiked tea and"He likely drank too much last night night and he did sleep late.." Herbal tea..is it gross?"
Gorvenalus hmmms "Not always"He is being honest "And maybe he could..handle it better than you. Come along I heard rest does wonders for ...hangovers"
Krisha nods, she glaces at Xander and shakes her head, looks to the Squirrel maid and then to Benar as she nods "Maybe not but...couldn't hurt."She says quietly, she then is distracted, a dibbun has skinned their knee as she smiles and picks them up"Excuse me."She will head to Cavern Hole to tend to the skinned knee as she does have a small first aid pack with her.
Benar coils up his knitting and sets it in his basket, "Well I have some paperwork to do and I want to check in on Oz.. .I will see you all later," He nods to all and heads for the stairs.
Xander meanwhile frowns, his headache is bad and ..the stupid room wants to spin, he watches Benar walk off and sighs, tea....ok he will try it. When he gets it all seems well....till he barfs..ya! Yeah in his book that tea is now evil, very evil.
Gorvenalus frowns and sighs "Ok, not one of my best ideas......"And someone will have to clean that up, what fun for whomever does. He glaces at the squirrel and sits by Xander "Drinking doesn't make problems go away, it is good at causing new ones"He still smiles a little.
Xander frowns, "I..wanted to...get my mind off..things, all the stuff going on....my head still hurts so sort of thinking more on that right now though...owwww"
Gorvenalus hmms as he does want to help, "Rest still is an idea Xander, would say talking but maybe later."He smiles "Listen to the rain and try to relax."
Xander frowns but he will try to relax best he can, he looks at Gorvenalus and frowns through his headache "Uncle Oz is getting worse...."
Gorvenalus frowns "I....I know...I spoke with the healers briefly, to see...sadly he likely wont recover." And earlier I heard he ....likely only has a day or maybe two to live." He didn't want to tell the abbot but its likely the healers will.
Xander frowns, he has a headache, stomach ache and feels like he wants to just go cry somewhere, maybe go out and find some vermin on the road, that's evil, to stab. He ends up just letting himself relax on some pillows and falls asleep, sleep will help at least some.
Gorvenalus makes sure the badger is comfortable before slipping off to update the abbey logs.
