Is He..Getting Worse?-Redwall Log

Who/:

Oz-badger Mother, AKA Papa Oz

Lacota-Friar of Redwall

Hawkeye-Old retired Warrior, now Brtender and Ale Maker

Log:

Oz sits in his chair. sipping his tea and coughs a little. A grumble as he sits his mug down.

Hawkeye walks in and on over to the badger "Ello Oz, how are ya doing today?" He has gotten to know the badger more the past few weeks he has been here.

Oz shrugs "Doing..somewhat ok I suppose..could be worse"

Hawkeye nods “Maybe see a healer, need help to the infirm?”

“No” The badger says quietly.

Hawkeye decides to respect that and quietly walks off.

Oz took his break today a little early and is now sitting in his chair sipping a little tea. He coughs a little and clears his throat as he leans back in his chair, basically forced in his opinion to take a little break. Sister Ginny decided to do the last couple classes of the day with the dibbuns. He sighs, snorting once as he takes another sip of tea. Not too many are around as they are likely doing other things.

That's when a squirrel comes in, pushing a tea cart, upon which a fresh pot of tea and a tray of raspberry tarts are set. "Ah, Ginny said I would find you here..."

Oz gives a small wave "Greetings Friar Lacota...hope your day is well, mine is...so so, mainly sitting right now when should be elsewhere but...fine"

Lacota harrumps. "No, you should be exactly right here, my friend. Now... I brought you some tarts I just made earlier. They're raspberry..."

Oz frowns, "I tend to rest too much lately, I can still walk around..still do things"He coughs a little, it was a little worse earlier but he is fine right now."He sits up better "Raspberry tarts are good with tea and trust me tea is much better than that...mixture they make me drink a couple times a day, not that it still helps as well."

Lacota mhmm, picking up his teapot and topping off the badger's cup. "Yes, I thought you'd agree. I made them using raspberries from the first batch picked this summer... So, the freshest possible..."

Oz smiles, "Maybe extra free time is good...sometimes" He sips the tea and gets a tart, he is quiet for a little while though and speaks "Though...free time isn't always cause I want it..."

Lacota nods his head. "So I've heard. Nothing to be ashamed of. Merely slowing down. Perfectly natural, I say." He pours himself a cup, then sets the pot down.

Oz frowns, he does nibble his tart and a sip of tea is taken "Not...normal to.."He sighs as he leans back again, he has not really told many how he is, some have guested to a point, "Have breathing problems at times, healers think may of been some....unseen issue never fully healed from when...well when during the siege that fight I was wounded in happen"

Lacota listens carefully as his sips from his own cup. "Hmm, I suppose you have a point there..."

Oz nods, "I....could well not be around too much longer, I don't really know but been training Krisha, she would take over for me, she is in fact in charge of a camp out at the pond, which reminds me" He coughs for a few seconds and clears his throat" Flower shaped cookies, for the dibbuns tis their camp out here in couple weeks...or whomever is in charge while your with Benar, if your going with him on that trip. I will be at the pond too , too...help Krisha of course but its the first event she will be fully in charge of for a dibbun fun day, well not..fully in charge but you know what I mean"

Lacota sets his cup down on its saucer. "Oh... That is rather concerning, Oz... Although I'm glad to hear that you've planned ahead for any inevitability..." He's frowning to himself, but tries not to let his voice betray his true emotions. "Krisha will certainly handle it well..."

Oz says, "I am sure she will do fine, I trust her. Then again could just be me feeling old, beasts tend to worry too much"He has been worn out faster lately, has had coughing spells also, he sips his tea but has only at one tart , so maybe not much of an appetite sometimes.

Lacota nods his head in agreement. "Aye, she'll do well. And you *are* getting older, Oz... Mayhaps it's time to slow down..."

Oz half glares "I don't need to slow down..In fact should go check on the dibbuns."He goes to get up, frowns as he feels dizzy and coughs roughly and half sits, half sort of falls back into the chair and and frowns, he seems to be in a little pain but as he takes a couple calming breaths, one hurts a little he seems to recover after a moment or two, a frown forms...ok no standing too quickly maybe as...he hasn't felt dizzy since the one day he passed out a few seconds.

Lacota is quick to get out of his chair when the badger tries to stand. "My friend, you are clearly not in the best health right now..."

Oz frowns"Felt...dizzy, that's..that's concerning" He says softly and shakes his head "Probably just tried or..maybe just getting worse" He frowns again, he will sip the tea still, he is still a little uneasy but recovering now "Suppose..might need to get up slowly when its time to get to my room "

Lacota nods his head. "Yes. I'm sure Angela would say the same thing..."

Oz says, "Still wish some would..worry less."He does want beasts to worry less but maybe he is a little worried himself,"I mean..I could recover, one never knows"

Lacota refills his cup with tea, as he listens. "I don't it's so much *worry* as it is *concern* for your well-being, Oz... We're all concerned, which is perfectly natural... And indeed, you may get better. Let us hope."

Oz nods, he has a small feeling he wont but its not clear right now" A healer said something about...not enough breath in one lung or something like that once, I don't know..do get out of breath more lately and I hate stairs, might need to use a cane I have, but haven't...yet, used it"

Lacota hmms. "Could it be asthma, or bronchitis?" A momentary pause, then he adds, "I used to talk to Leon... Ah... Now that's a beast I miss..."

Oz frowns at the name "Brother Leon...I miss him, he likely be checking on me a lot if he was still around"

Lacota mhmms. "Ah, I agree with you there. He was a good beast, he was..." The squirrel sighs, and shakes his head.

Oz says, "He was a friend...he is still missed"He sighs as is quiet, thinking, maybe for a while oe seems that way."I..could well be...I don't know""

Lacota frowns again. "Ah... It doesn't do well to dwell on the past, does it?" He sighs, then sips his tea.

Oz says, "The past is the past, but it's ok to remember it a little. As I told beasts ....sometimes one never fully gets over a death...then maybe no one fully does. Friends or family...all are missed to some decree..some more that others. I am sure I will be missed when I..."He frowns again and finishs his tea and does eat another tart "I could..well be dying and I..I know it, just this feeling..and I do worry how some will react..."He leans back, quiet again "Krisha..will be there for the dibbuns but...some of them wont understand, some might..I..I don't know. I do know they might ask where I am when...after i am gone, think they know something is wrong as I get out of breath more often, I have beats worried...I am in the infirm couple times a week for checkups...and the fact Krisha and Sister Ginny are sometimes seen more than me,..this week for sure been that way, already I don't have classes till after lunch as it is""

Lacota mhmms, listening again. "You seem to be at peace with the possibility, though... That is good, yeah? I'd like to think I'd be at peace as well, but who really knows?"

Oz says, "I ....have lived a good long life..I could of died during the siege when Ormaz was around , when that marten was looking for Benar but found me and me and the marten fought..I almost did die in fact, I..I think I could of choose to..go step my other foot paw into that gate to be with Northstar, my...mate but I was still needed here." He sighs "I have.....had Ewan write some letters, upon my death beasts they are addressed to will get them...and Krisha is to be..taking over as Badger mother""

"Plans well made," Lacota agrees, "And you are at peace... But I sense you still have a worry..."

Oz says, "I..do worry, bout the dibbuns..mainly a reaction to..well"

Lacota nods. "Ah, that is understandable," he replies, starting to stand. "This was a good chat, though. I do consider you a dear friend, you know." He starts cleaning up, putting the empty cups back on his cart. "Sadly, I need to get back to the kitchen... Dinner will be served in a couple hours, after all..."

Oz nods "Your a good friend as well Lacota, perhaps a nap before dinner then"He will wake up in time for dinner and likely go to bed early.
